Went here New Years Eve (Friday) for a late lunch and had their Philadelphia Salmon Roll. By the time I got home, I started feeling nauseous. I was on the fence about coming in because it was busy, but I went for it because I LOVE the sushi (Tuna Lovers). Kevin instantly recognized me when I sat down, and could sense that I was in a rush. In honor of Burger Week 2019, I had to get at least one special burger. This past weekend, I found myself in Cool Springs running errands and figured that I'd give their PB&J Brie Burger a go. You may be thinking Peanut Butter and Jelly on a burger! Blasphemy! Well let me tell you that you are wrong. Think of peanut butter, strawberry-bacon jam and creamy brie cheese with a seasoned fresh, never-frozen beef patty served on a warm butter-toasted bun ... it was a delicious treat. While it's not something that I'd eat every week, the combination of sweet and salty was amazing, as always. I was in lust. It was one heck of a combination that left me aghast at how good it was. As it was only around for burger week, let me move on. This place conjures up images of your typical sports bar, in a not so typical location, with tv's, burgers, other types of bar food, and beer but what's not your typical is that they offer an assortment of sushi, a few healthy options, and are family friendly. The place is split into 2 sections with 2 full bars. The section out front is full of bar height tables with garage-esque doors that open fully to allow the outdoors in and the section is the back is lined with big booths all around the perimeter of the walls. I've been here on several occasions for after work Happy Hours in a past life and this place doesn't disappoint for small or large groups. The decor reminds me of Logan's(if you've ever visited that chain steakhouse) with lots of wood but with sports memorabilia. The staff was attentive. It was busy so while not overly chatty, they did take care of you. As a plus, they have a $4 Bloody Mary Bar and $4 Mimosa's on the weekends from 11am - 4pm. Add that to fun themed nights during the week with a nice sized draft beer selection, you can't beat this for a low-key place to grab a beer and some grub and pretend to be interested in whatever sport is playing on the telly in front of you. I've been to Drakes in Knoxville and Chattanooga and they are awesome! Great staff, clean, good food and draft. This one should be shut down! The place is filthy. I came on a Sunday at 3pm, not too busy. The servers are so slow!! It took 10 minutes to get a refill on my water. I ended up going to the bar to get it filled quicker. There's not a 'little bit' of everything to offer at Drake's -- there's a LOT of everything. It's all over the place. And, while that could lead to a disorganized hot mess, this kitchen sink approach works for the business. Indeed, it's a strength. I had a surprisingly good time here and wouldn't hesitate to come back. Y'see, beyond the toney mansions, tree-lined streets and wide open spaces of Franklin lies a newer, strip mall-ier suburban sprawl of excess. Again, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Cities grow. Nashville has finite borders. Young(er) people who move south of town are going to want things to do that don't require a high taxi/Uber fare or the need for a lot of gas money. Local later night entertainment is a must. Drake's fills that void. I drove in to a newer, neon-ed strip mall with the sort of businesses I recognized on sight if not by name. I walked in to a sports bar where I was asked to show id. Later, I stumbled in to a full-on club experience happening in the middle of Franklin/Cool Springs. What??? As my buddy and I sat down, I started to go through the menu and was overwhelmed. Like many, I am not a fan of so much food mixing. There's sushi and burgers. Taps and cocktails. Parents and girls night. Like I mentioned earlier, there's a lot going on here. Since it was chilly out, I started with a draft stout. Beer in belly, I was relaxed and ready to dig in to the menu. Cautious as I was, I decided to go all-in to my 'when in Rome' experience and order some maki. We settled on the tempura shrimp and crunchy munchy (bc I don't do mayo or cream cheese with my sushi). The tempura shrimp had all the expected crunch I wanted and the cool creaminess of avocado to finish the bite. Eel sauce is always a plus. The crunchy munchy was a roll suited for the hot mess/all-over-the-place-but-it-works vibe: fried crabstick, cucumber, avocado, rooster sauce, tempura, shrimp, and eel sauce. Yes, a mess. Yes, it works. Because we were in the midst of some sort of Saturday night half price everything storm (works for me), the eating didn't stop. I fully embraced the Drake's experience and ordered the mushroom swiss burger with scallions and fries. It was delicious and perfectly suited for everything else that was happening. I thought we were done. We weren't done. After we finished our food, my friend took me to the back of the space and... what? It's a club? Yes, it's a club. A club complete with lighting, music, cocktails, crowded bar, bad dancing, people wearing the wrong clothes, people making bad mating decisions, and all the uncomfortable dating rituals that come along with clubs. A club. In the middle of Cool Springs. Well, alright alright alright. I had no idea. While this wouldn't be my choice of Saturday night hang out, the novelty and shock of what I was experiencing made me love every minute of it. For a messy good time that won't break the bank and will give you something new to do, Drake's is a fun way to spend a weekend night. I can see myself doing this again. Soon, even. read more

What would happen if you took a Friday's, and made it trendy? You would get a Drake's. Mind you, trendy does not equal cool. How trendy? Craft Beers make up a quarter of the menu. These are good values, especially if you stick to the sampler. But samplers are for the indecisive, those looking to be swayed by the next trend. The cool are penalized by paying more per ounce. A column of trendy signature drinks that the truly cool would never touch, occupy a whole column on the menu. Drinks like a Pixie Stick Martini. Can you imagine James Bond: "Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred. Then add some grape pucker. And island blue pucker... and dust the rim with a pixie stick". Not going to happen. Then there's the current bar-food craze of the Mini. The menu has a whole section dedicated to mini's. Mini burgers, Mini fish. Mini BLT's. Get it with the Mini Ham and Cheeses, and a sampler of 4, 4.5 oz beers, and pretend you are a giant. "My, what a tiny little sandwich. I will wash it down with this tiny little beer". You can compete the mini-combo with tater tots, while stomping around the room like you are actually hundreds of feet tall. Not feeling so gigantic? You can get a 120 oz "table tap" beer, and spend the evening looking up to even the shortest of people, because you'll be laying on the floor. The prices here were reasonable. The service was quite good, but not flawless. The food was unremarkable. It's worth stopping at if you are close, but not worth a special trip. read more

Nobody to seat you, first time and it was a bit awkward not knowing where to go or what to do. Waitresses just walked by, finally asked and they did tell us to sit wherever. "I'm getting too old for this shit." I stopped by Drake's for a drink and an appetizer or meal with my husband on a Saturday night, around 6pm, after checking out their menu online. The garage doors were up making it more of a patio. The place was packed, but we managed to find a table. The service was prompt. The beer/liquor selection was great. We placed our order for drinks as we looked over the menu. Then I glanced around. It was full of 30 somethings that were clearly single or on a date. I had the feeling this place gets hoping after the sun goes down. We placed an order for chicken nachos, drank our beers, and thanked God that we weren't single any more. Here's my advice: If you're married or coupled up, go during the week. If you're single and looking for a great bar, go after dark on the weekend. Me? I'll see you early on a Tuesday. read more

Late lunch with coworkers. 1st time here. Love the layout and ambience of this place. We were there on a bright warm day the had all three doors rolled up and it just couldn't have been nicer. Of our group one had the regular Fish Sandwich and fries and he thought it was one of the best "Fish Sandwiches" he's had. Be warned it is a LARGE sandwich. The other had the BBQ Burger and fries and said it was very good. I had a sushi combo of a Dragon roll and Red Snapper and Yellowtail Nigiri. Good not great. Great spot for lunch if you work in the area. I haven't been here at night yet, but the waitress mentioned it turns into a bar that is fun later in the evening. I LOVE the black bean burger here. It is spicy and has enough bite to not be mush in your mouth. I'm more of a veggie girl and less of a meat girl so this is great for me. On the same note I like how you can get broccoli as a side. Service is also good, the waitress we had was friendly and offered good recommendations to the group. read more

I must admit, I was pretty impressed with Drakes. My fiancé and I went here for lunch on a weekday recently. The place was a little empty, but it was snowing and a lot of people were off work, so it made sense. Our server was pretty attentive, although service was a little slow. We ordered two sushi rolls and the chips n' dips appetizer. The appetizer was surprisingly good (we were initially hesitant at the $9 price tag for essentially fancy chips and salsa). However, the chips n' dips comes with three dips, all of which were really good, even the refried beans. For our entrees we got two rolls, the crab rangoon roll and the rainbow tempura roll, both of which were very tasty and well plated. Drakes is our standby place when nothing else sounds good. We have been here several times and have not been disappointed. They have a great and expansive cocktail menu, great staff, and really good food. I have not had the sushi, but what we have seen go to other tables looks great. If you are in to a toned down "club scene", you can come on Friday and Saturday evenings for live music and/or a DJ. All in all, solid menu, quality, and service will keep us coming back. read more

Very, very good food. Extraordinary Morning Glory burger with fried egg, great chicken chopped salad, great fried bologna sandwich. Simple but solid French fries and tots. Really good atmosphere and service. I have a couple of suggestions: 1. Don't change the burger - you've achieved burger perfection :) 2. The fried bologna sandwich is amazing. Sour dough bread, amazing melted cheese and the perfect dressings. But, the Bologna needs to be thicker. This is a guy sandwich. I refer you to Martin's bbq in Nolensville for an over-the-top cut of smoked Bologna for s sandwich. 3. Fried pickles need to be sliced "crinkle cut" and fried, not long ways. The texture isn't quite right the other way. And then, the boss comes by and said "Just order them crinkle-cut and we'll do them that way"!! I love it!! I haven't tried the sushi yet. Pub sushi?? Maybe a burger-sushi combo? Great restaurants take chances, and I'm willing to come back and take a chance, based on a great first visit. read more

Drake's is a cool bar. I like the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale and they have it on tap. The food is good and the tv situation is good. I believe that they sponsor one of the softball teams in Franklin and that's good to see. My wife and I enjoy playing trivia on Sunday nights. It's a good way to catch the late NFL game and it's a great deal of fun. We also do fairly well. We've won it a time or two and taken home several solid gift certificates and food vouchers. It's easy to come back when you get a free sushi roll (sushi is really above average) or nachos (these are excellent). I even (won and) took a Sam Adam's glass home one time (did you know that that glass was designed by Harvard students--it has notches in the bottom to keep a head on the beer). My only complaint would be the transformation into a club later in the night. I may just be getting old, but I'd rather remain a restaurant/bar. It's definitely unique and attracts a very different crowd when the music get turn't up. This is a great bar. The beer is good, service is excellent, and you'll really enjoy the food. Came here with a buddy on Sunday afternoon to watch some Olympic sports and enjoy some beer/food. I love the atmosphere of the open door/window bar area. Great to sit in during nice days and enjoy the breeze as well as TVs located everywhere to watch whatever you'd like. Plenty of draft beer choices and bottles as well. I ordered a southern pecan which is delicious. And for food I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad that was huge, super filling, and fantastic! I've been here at night a few times when the restaurant turns into a bar/nightclub I guess you could call it. Not my favorite night scene but I'll definitely be back for drinks/food during the day and will most likely be talked into going at night with friends in the future as well. read more

A well-rounded menu with varied options and I am in love with the pecan nut brown Kentucky ale...lazy mag maybe?? Anyway - I've been here for business lunches (and they have free wi-fi!!), drinks with friends, and date night and this place fits the bill for any crowd. Something for everyone with the sushi/bar food menu (though the sushi is fusion-Americanized, it's very good!) and a good noise level to keep conversations going. Since I travel frequently I like to try and find great non-chain restaurants and bars when possible. Staying in Cool Springs, I didn't expect to find much better than a Chilis (without going downtown). And then BAM! I find this little gem. I saw some complaints about the sushi but honestly I have no idea why anyone would have issues. I eat sushi regularly and this place has some great rolls. But they also have more options. And it's definitely not just "bar food". I was very impressed. I also like the environment, it's well designed inside. Plenty of TVs but very classy. It's obvious that a real restauranteer is involved. I rarely give 5 stars. But was very happy to grab dinner here on a business trip. It's a much better alternative to Carrabas next door or TGIF across the street. read more

We've been here a number of times. Mostly to watch the UK games. They have two areas; one in the front with a fireplace and one in the back with a larger bar. This is a self seating place. If you're coming to watch the game, find a seat in the front room.... if you're there to party, go to the back (it turns into a club scene). Great place to hang out! This is a great place to meet friends after work and grab a drink. There are many craft beers available. If that isn't your thing they have your usual bottled beer as well as a full bar. If you get hungry while you are hanging out there are plenty of tasty choices on the menu. They offer appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, and even sushi. I had JBs boneless bites on my first visit. They are chicken tender bites tossed in the sauce of your choice. It was the perfect snack choice to go with the beer. The second visit was to meet a close friend who was in town. I thought this would be the perfect place to visit for awhile. Prices are reasonable and the servers tend to be quite friendly (gotta make that money, honey!). If you need to catch a game, there are lots of TVs in the outer bar and there's a good chance your favorite bartender will turn one of them to anything except The Bachelor. I love Drakes! Hands down, this is my favorite sports bar to go to. It isn't a typical "sports bar" where the food is disgusting. The food here is great! My husband and I have been here a number of times and haven't had a poor experience. We are typically able to watch any game we ask for, unless is its a super busy sports night (which is to be expected). Their sushi is VERY good! I typically order sushi (Boston roll!) almost every time I go! The normal (American) food is also very good! My husband has their tacos all the time. It isn't a typical restaurant where you are greeted as you walk in, so fair warning- Majority of the time we find our own seating, especially if you want seating in the front room. If I am remembering correctly, we have only been given a booth in the back room a few times. Drakes is great for a fun date night and for groups. I will be returning in the near future. read more
