Amazing food. Borderline pricey but satisfying. Great customer service so far. This has become a frequent stop.

My girlfriend and I visited Drakes on a Saturday evening. The place was packed and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. We were able to get a table and ordered food. The food came out hot, fresh, and relatively quickly. The server did a great job, and Wendi, the manager, even stopped by on multiple occassions to ensure that we were doing well and to see if we needed anything. The staff really made us feel like we were the only customers in the entire restaurant. Great experience! We will be back. read more

Met a friend here to have a Beer and chat. Service was good and beer was cold. Tried some of the appetizers. They were not great, just OK. Was really hoping for something special. It has been a few months since my husband and I have eaten at Drakes. We have always enjoyed their nice big juicy hamburgers. Today the hamburgers we got were flat patties like you get at McDonald's and was very dried out. The fries were halfway cooked and very limp. What happened? How do you go from fat juicy burgers to flat McDonald's type burgers? Very very very disappointed. read more

I went to Drake's for the first time on Tuesday night with my husband, dad & step-mom. We got there around 6pm; the place was packed by 6:30 and stayed that way the entire 1.5 hours we were there. Environment The open patio/bar area was filled with a post-work crowd. Average age appeared to be early 30's. Casual, fun atmosphere. Due to the heat, we proceeded to the main dining room where you can choose to sit at the enormous circular bar or on wooden benches (like raised picnic tables) around the room. This is actually a negative - not a single seat had cushions or backs so you quickly get uncomfortable. Plus the tables & benches are so close together you often have to ask people at the adjacent table to move so you can slide out. The pop music was already quite loud and the space seems to amplify the sound so it was hard to have a normal conversation without raising your voice a few notches. Lighting was fairly bright; we could see everyone from one side of the room to the other. There was a spotlight shining on the wooden painted Guinness ad on the wall next to our table which was practically blinding my step-mom. Food & Drink Drake's menu has a huge variety so is sure to please everyone. You wouldn't think of a place like this having good sushi, but it seems to be quite popular as over half the diners around us had ordered from that menu. I ordered the blue cheese burger (asked for rare and got medium-rare). The blue cheese was just crumbles and I could barely taste it. If I order a blue cheese burger I want to really taste the blue cheese! Otherwise it tasted like a simple hamburger. The tater tots were plain but good (I prefer mine extra crispy). My husband's Philly cheese-steak sandwich was tasty but way too messy to pick up and since it was served in a wire basket he had to transfer it to a plate to cut it up. His fries (crinkle cut) were like my tots, nothing special but fine. My step-mom & dad shared an assortment of sushi rolls. The only one I tried was the crab rangoon roll; it was crispy, rich & delicious and totally made me crave a whole order of regular crab rangoon! Drake's has a wide variety of draft/craft beers (22-23?) at various price points based on the size & alcohol content. You can also order a fun "tower of beer" (maybe equivalent to a yard). They also have an extensive cocktail list. I am not aware of any happy hour specials. Service After placing our drink order (4 draft beers), we waited almost 10 minutes before receiving our drinks. I believe our waitress was new... However once we received our food (maybe another 10 minutes later), she did check on us a few times to see if we needed anything else. As we were paying our bill, a manager asked if we enjoyed our visit. In summary, Drake's is a fun after-work/dinner option with multiple forms of entertainment (billiards, darts, DJ, people-watching) but is not conducive to children, the elderly, intimate conversation, a romantic night out, etc. It seems to be trying a little too hard to be a lot of things at once (sports bar, hip hangout, nightclub) and would be much more enjoyable with more comfortable seating. read more

My Gf and I went there for lunch on a Saturday. First we waited 10 minutes before I had to go to the host asked to get a server. The server apologized about the wait but explained this wasn't her table. However, she would handle the table. She was very nice and I understand the place was busy. So we placed our order to the server. We got the frickles as an appetizer, for the meal course we ordered the beer cheese and bacon burger and all American burger and we picked the tater tots as the sides. The frickles was very tart and need more breading. The dip that came with was good it had a dill flavor richness. Now the burgers were very salty, I swear my blood pressure was going up while I was eating it. They made the burger similar to smash burgers. When you make thin patties you have to be careful about seasoning. So I felt like I ate tablespoon of salt. The tater tots was too heavy again on the salt and black pepper. We had to dose it with ketchup to be edible. The good part was the drinks were cheap! read more

For a different feel for the typical Cool Springs car, Drake's has it. Their beer selection is decent and their tabletop taps make them unique. Their service is friendly, management is young and bartenders knowledgeable for college student type drinks/shots. The location off Cool Springs Blvd by Starbucks and Bed, Bath & Beyond is convenient. I can't say I would frequent Drake's, but with their daily specials and happy hours, if I was looking for a cold one and I was in the area, I'd definitely stop in. read more

I was so excited to find out a Drakes opened in Cool Springs! Used to go here in Lexington - they have great food and a great selection of beer. Hard to get a seat there now that word is out what a great spot it is. I really appreciate the attention to detail they spent on the interior and decor -- and the fact that you can get Kentucky Ale (and bourbon barrel ale!) here! The good stuff: burgers (but see the bun comment below), fish and chips (see chips comment below), sushi (surprisingly good), calamari salad (the bomb), good football TV coverage and good, reasonably-priced drinks.The Lazy Magnolia Honey Pecan beer is fab. They pour a perfect Guinness. Service is great if you don't get the chatty-kathy waitress who can't wait to tell you about her life ... for 10 minutes without blinking. The not-good stuff: frozen fries, usually cold inside and pale yellow outside (why not hand-cut your fries?? So much cheaper, food-cost-wise, and SO much better ...); 86ing the Bass Ale, huge mistake; no-stem wine glasses for white wine (somebody didn't tell them that when you wrap your hand around chilled wine, it gets warm really fast; stemmed glasses for white wine is a no-brainer - breakage/spillage is part of the restaurant business and customer satisfaction should not be sacrificed for the owners' convenience/bottom line); no onion rings; too-flimsy hamburger buns that fall apart after 2 bites; a virtually undrinkable house Chard (Matthew Fox, a cross between water and gasoline and lemon juice, ugh.) This place could be the most popular place in Cool Springs with a few corrections and some inventive menu additions (see good examples on Guy Fieri's site, under Triple D Hotspots for some ideas). Not plugging the show, there are just some good menu item ideas there. Weird crowd-shifting there: day = business people. Weekend nights: singles. Weekend days: families and an assortment of age groups. Anyway, there's a good floor manager who pays attention, and a good service staff that is better than most in the area. read more

The Crab Rangoon roll is a definite must try! You might want to ask for the sweet sauce on the side as there was a little much of it on top of the roll for me. This place has a pleasantly surprising menu for what looks like a bar/hangout at first glance. read more

OK, we probably eat at this place too much. We go here for lunch quite a bit. It's a great place to eat because you can choose a burger or if you're so inclined sushi. It's also great for groups if some people want a burger and others want sushi. They also have a lot of other options as well. Everyone's always nice and the food is consistently good. Well, I made it back in after the newness had worn off. I stopped in around 6 pm for dinner and drinks with some business associates. The seat-yourself nature of the tables made me worry about attentiveness, but our server, Mary, was on her A-game. She was handling about 4 tables that I could see, even lugging around the huge "table taps" of beer and didn't seem to break a sweat. The food was ok. I didn't try the sushi; I wasn't sure what to expect and the rest of my party ordered burgers, so I did as well. We started with the calamari and the chicken bites. The calamari was served with a sweet chile dipping sauce that I enjoyed, but the calamari itself was overly breaded and predominantly rings versus tentacles. The chicken bites came out piping hot (I burnt the roof of my mouth!) and stuck with skewers which make them a little better for sharing. The burger, while topped with barbeque sauce and cheddar cheese (what I like to call the duo of deliciousness), was not able to be cooked to an ordered temperature which is a definite ding against them; the burgers are supposed to be the house specialty (or so I've heard). It was well-done, but not overly dry (probably thanks to the barbeque sauce). To be honest, there really was too much barbeque sauce. Don't eat this burger unless you have plenty of extra napkins and are wearing a shirt you don't care about. I was wearing Brooks Brothers, so you can be sure you've never seen someone more carefully eat a burger. In short, it's serviceable, not special. It's not a place I will choose to visit again any time soon, but that says more about me than it does about Drake's. Maybe I'll plan a visit if I'm asked to plan a bachelor party or some large event where copious amounts of alcohol will be imbibed. read more

This is a restaurant that serves bar food (burgers, sandwiches, fries and what not) and.... SUSHI. I totally thought that was funny, being they are two totally different items. I guess in a way it's a good thing to have a healthy option, like sushi, available in a sports bar/restaurant. I decided to not be healthy and ordered a burger. I don't remember what I ordered, I let the waitress pick the burger for me. It was good and filling, very filling actually. I was so full after. Maybe I should have stuck with a salad... The restaurant was pretty packed for Thursday lunch.. I'm guessing this is a popular spot for locals around here. Overall, a cool spot for lunch.. one thing I will always remember about this place are the funny artsy signs in the womens' bathroom: in one stall there is a sign that says "Please remain seated for the entire performance". Servers can be a little hit or miss here, but the food is always on point. Good menu; love the Crab Rangoon sushi roll. Parking can be a pain if you're there during a Starbucks peak time. I'm also a fan of Wild Wing Cafe across the parking lot. read more

Terrible service! Realizing that it was during peak hours, I had to flag the waitress, Chynna, down after sitting there for 30+ minutes to place our drink orders, then waited another twenty minutes for them to arrive, and then placed our food order, which was completely wrong. We let the waitress know when she finally came by, and she said she would take care of it. She did not. The manager came by and we explained what had happened, and he said he would "make it right". All he did was deliver us the bill. read more

Apparently this is the Cool Springs watering hole for young (men) professionals. I went with a friend because it was near the Sweet CeCe's.

It is good for kids too. Games in the back include GINGA, SHUFFLEBOARD, DARTS and lots of TV's for some amazing sports action.

We stopped here to shoot some darts and grab a few beers. The first problem is they only have two darts. The second problem is the dart boards are so old they no longer hold the darts once thrown (probably the cause of the lost and broken darts). We mentioned this to the bartender and they noted they have been trying to get new ones for a while. Let us know if that happens. read more

Cool Springs newest HOT SPOT ! Even though they just opened last week they seem to have everything under control. 4 open air garage doors makes you feel like you are outside, upscale decor throughout, and staff very accommodating . The menu is not your typical pub fare, we had several appetizers that included crab Rangoon, Asian crispy dumplings and edema me. I would absolutely recommend them and I will be back for more. I believe they will give some other restaurants a run for the money, but I hope everyone in this tough business is a success. read more

Drake's is always a fun time. The vibe here is great, it is a lot of fun. They play good music, have a lot of beers on tap, mixed drinks, beer towers, and games. What more could you ask for? This is a good place to come with a group of friends. The food is better than most sports bars. I have had the boneless wings, burgers, and bbq ham sandwich. I cannot say enough good things about Drake's. The food quality is superb, the service is excellent, and the restaurant is a fun place to go with or without our kids. They also are very sensitive to allergies and have gone above and beyond every time we've gone in and mentioned allergies to the staff. Seriously, delightfully awesome on every level. Atmosphere is casual and friendly, service is friendly and excellent but not intrusive (just the way I like it!) and the food is superb. Keri, my waitress steered me toward the ale battered fish, and I'm so glad she did...The fish was perfectly cooked and as good as any that I've had in London. Coleslaw creamy but not too much so, and the portions so large that I took half home, carefully boxed up and complete with ice for the trip home. Not impressed by the food the at all. The sushi was good, but it was slathered in sweet chili sauce. When I ordered I thought it was gonna be a drizzle (most sushi is never drowning in anything). The burger was awful. Our server didn't ask how we wanted the burger cooked, and the outside parts of it were literally crunchy. Tasted like there was no seasoning. Didn't get offered mayo, ketchup, anything till we were almost done. I would go back for drinks but not for the food. read more
