Started my loc journey with Dani, her consultation made me confident in the process she basically did my first loc to get a time frame per dread and gave me a accurate explanation of how much time it was going to take and how many locs I ended up with. She has it down to a science and she has a really down to earth vibe and her attention to detail was more than I expected. I tried calling around before her she explained more than all the other loc salons it feels like other people want to just get you in the chair and loc you in the calendar, dani really took the time and let me walk away without having to commit to her process. I WISH 0 STARS WAS AN OPTION! To be clear, this review is focused on the work ethic of Ms. Danitza, not the quality of her work. On 1/25/2025 I sought a consultation for "wicks," which cost $50. Before the consultation, I provided Danitza with recent pictures of my locs, and she gave me a rough estimate of $1560 for the service. However, during the consultation, after wicking just one lock halfway, I was informed that the actual cost would be almost double the initial estimate. Feeling a bit cornered due to the partial service, I felt obligated to proceed. I was required to put down a deposit of over 30% to secure an appointment for 2/21/2025. I decided to cancel the appointment on the same day, 1/25/2025 and requested a refund. I was shocked to learn that no refunds are provided, only store credit, according to her policy. I referred to screenshots of her policy from her website, dreadzilla.com, which did not include her wick services. Danitza claimed her website was "undergoing construction" and had inaccurate information. Moreover, she insisted she wasn't "holding" my "money hostage," yet continues to deny my rightful refund for a service that was cancelled a month in advance and never completed. She claimed that the deposit is based on the "time" spent completing the service. What service did you complete?! Why would I want to continue to patronize your business, if this is how you treat your customers. The f*ck am I supposed to do with "store credit". I attempted to resolve this matter privately, but since we cannot reach an agreement regarding my refund, further action is now necessary. read more

So today was my first time meeting with Dani. I'm very impressed with her knowledge and her skills. The appointment was for a consult only however, she showed me what she could do by fixing one of my locs. It looks so so so good, exactly how I was hoping she could make it look. First off: Dani does great work and is a nice person. You can tell she knows her stuff, She works quickly and does a great job. I was really amazed by how easily she did my dread maintenance. That said, shes not the easiest to contact in my experience. There was some sort of scheduling error my first appointment. She thought I was coming the next day(sunday) but the appointment system (and our conversations) had me down for saturday. Mistakes happen, I understand, but while I waited outside for 45 minutes I tried calling and texting and got no response. When she did arrive she did my hair, and someone else's in a reasonable amount of time with good results. My 2nd appointment never took place. Again due to some sort of scheduling mix-up. We were set for saturday, but I got a text around noon on thursday confirming an evening appointment that same day. Again I called, texted, left voicemail, and never receiving a response confirming or denying the appointment. I called again the next day and still heard nothing, no text/email/call. I found Danitza with Dreadzilla by a friends recommendation to go to someone that does dreadlock removal to get horrible hair knots out of my hair. I tried for several hours to get it out on my own and kept making it worse, to the point I thought I absolutely would have to cut it out. I have long hair and it would have looked terrible to cut it out. Danitza got it out in less than 90 minutes! I was so relieved. Danitza was friendly, professional and a lot of fun. BEWARE, NON-RESPONSIVE, UNRELIABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I've gone to Dani, AKA Dreadzilla, regularly for 1-1/2 years for dread maintenance. I ALWAYS tipped her 20% to 25%. In that time, I was never late, nor missed an appointment. The same cannot be said for Dani. This is not a "Professional" shop. Dani is a self taught "Locktician" who works out of her family's kitchen/family room. Dani resists almost all personal communication (calls and texts) with her clients and pushes them off on her online scheduling system. On two occasions, after scheduling appts and receiving confirmation, Dani just blew off my appointments and was not at her home for my scheduled appointments. No calls, no texts, she just blew off my appointments and wasted my time, gas and energy. Due to this, my wife began texting her before each appointment to confirm. Only sometimes would she reply. In spite of this, both times I overlooked Dani's disrespectful conduct. The final straw was this week. Due to the COVID shutdown, my wife texted Dani several times about doing a house call, explained we have a well ventilated spot with a salon chair and said we'd wear masks. When she finally responded, Dani agreed and again directed us to her scheduling system. On Wednesday 6-24-20 we received written confirmation of my appointment on Friday 6-26-20 at my home. Well my appointment time came and went and Dani once again failed to show up. NO CALL, NO TEXT, NO COMMUNICATION!!! Our calls and texts to see if she was delayed also went unanswered. For the third time, Dani just blew off my appointment. Well 3 strikes you're out Dani and I'm done with your FLAKEY AND UNPROFESSIONAL conduct!!!! Dani does a great job, I started my dreads with another lady out in Vegas and when I came back out here it was hard to find someone and I got referred to Dani and shes the best, Shes helped me w any question I have about my dreads and very open to any question you would have. Dani is AWESOME at her craft !!! I had starter locs done elsewhere. Was concerned shortly after that they did not look as I had hoped. Was told I needed an interlock. Interlock was not what I needed. Locs looked worse. Contact Dani and during our free initial consulatation, she indicated an interlock was wrong for my type of hair. She re-worked one of my locs and showed me how she could get them to look. It was exactly what I was looking for. Took two sessions totalling nine hours and Dani did my locs to better than I had hoped. Paid the transportation free to have Dani come to me, and it was perfect. Even my mom was happy with my locks. I tried to do them myself. I first met Dani I just had her section of my hair, and I was going to do the rest. I got fed up pretty quickly with my limp matted hair, and went to someone else closer. Big mistake! She put so much wax in my hair! I had family coming in from out of town and some big family get togethers. I didn't want to l look so half done. Doesn't even say hi, hello- greets, or acknowledges you when meeting at your appointment. (Her boyfriend who tags along and sits in at the sessions doesn't either.) Dani was amazing, her and her boyfriend are very down to earth, and getting maintenance done by her on my dreads seemed to go by fast. I would definitely recommend having her work on your hair. This women really knows what she's doing! My fiancé spent 4 years growing out is straight Guatemalan hair, and his genes are strong, so it was well past 20in...down to his butt. He was very picky on choosing a loctician, given that his hair is straight and he wanted his dreads parted correctly with them all medium size and all well rounded ends (not a lot of straight hairs coming out at the ends). After search for a year, he finally came across Dani's page and saw how her dreads looked. It took nearly 23hrs broken up in days. She could have done it in 2 days, but he couldn't sit for 12hrs straight. It was it first getting his hair done. Overall she did a great job! His dreads came out better than I thought for someone who has straight hair. He constantly gets compliments and asked how long he's has them. Dani was AWESOME!!! I had dreadlocks extensions in the past, paid $800 and they fell out in less than a month. We had to reschedule because of an emergency, and she totally made it up to me by coming to me and not charging me for the drive, and gave me a free hour on top of that. She was so quick and thorough! She took only 2 short breaks in the 9 hour session we had-she is a machine lol! She is definitely worth every little penny-which is so cheap compared to other places! Plus she has a passion for her craft, and wants everyone to have a journey that is fulfilling and good for the soul. She is one of the few truly down-to-earth people I have met in a long time.
