I shuffled my way to the counter, carrying the weight of the day only to wait 5 minute before spoken to by one of the servers. My order was placed quickly and was assured it would be out "soon." I took my seat to listen to a good guitarist with better backing tracks fighting a losing battle with the impending headache forming at the back of my skull. At the 10 minute mark I considered ordering a drink to silence my inner voice of doubt telling me I should have just gone to Chick-fil-a but surely my food would be out "soon." At the 20 minute mark, the guitarist stopped his set to take a break as I watch other patrons receive their food and drinks after I had ordered. I could only assume extra time and attention was being used for me. Perhaps they needed to grind the sausage in the back before cooking and serving it for my order. Perhaps they had to pluck all those fresh chicken wings. Maybe they were harvesting the onion in real time to deliver it to me. My orders surely not just food, but a statement of art and love too beautiful for human consumption. My excited and eagerness grew until the 30 minute mark when a different server asked if I had been helped. Was my order lost? Had I been forgotten?
