Food was great. However, pepper came out of the shaker WAY TOO FAST! Will be eating again but not sure if I will ask for pepper!

Huddle House was supposed to be open, but they were close. I remember the renovation for the Pappy's. Since they were available, the ladies and I decided to give them a try. As soon as I walked, welcomed by the aroma of Southern Fresh goodness! I asked, " Could you serve Three more?" The Gentleman, only the way an authentic Southern will, "Of course, WELCOME! Sit anywhere you like!" The Hostess was just as friendly. At this point, I'm signing off. I know this food is going to be delicious!!!

When we lived in Hanahan it was right down the street from Pappys there and we went often. Driving back into town this morning from Kingstree we came across Lil Pappys. Man were we so glad! Turns out they used to have a much larger place across the street. The new place sits between Hardees and Pizza hut almost directly across Hwy 52 from the previous local. Loving that they took over a standing vacant fastfood business and made their own mark on it. The design is perfect for a fast paced home town eatery with speed, comfort and delicious home cooked food as goals. The open floor plan along with tin and wood decor makes for a clean restaurant with excellent functionality for the waitstaff. I always look up when seated to check vent and ceiling cleanliness and I was super impressed. All perfect white drop tiles and the vents had zero dirt or dust. I have missed Pappy's corn beef hash! Was not at all disappointed with my perfect pancakes and hash! Crispy just how I love them. Hubby had the Ribeye and Eggs. He didn't even ask for A1 because the steak was juicy and had great flavor on it's own. Thanks Pappys!

Do not let the look of this place fool you. It may look like an older diner that appears to be in need of a make over but the food is great. I have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. They have a variety of meals and food to choose from. My favorite thing here is the breakfast. If I am craving pancakes this is my go to place. I ordered the Pappy's 2 x 4 special. Which consists of 2 eggs, 2 hotcakes (pancakes for those who do not know what hotcakes are), 2 links (sausage) and 2 bacon. All of it was cooked correctly and not only did it taste great but it hit the spot as well. My wife will usually mix up what she orders. Tonight (8/31/18) she ordered a patty melt and 2 sides. The patty melt was delicious. For her sides she had french fries and potato salad. Fries were tasty and the potato salad was ok. The servers are polite and friendly. Like I said earlier the place needs a make over and at a minimum the parking lot needs to be repaired because there are a lot of pot holes. Don't let these minor issues stop you from getting a good meal!

Old timey meet greasy spoon. Not a bad little breakfast spot. Old men solving the world's problems on cup of coffee at a time.

When we arrived it had all the feel of a old Country Restaurant which made me feel excited about the kind of hands that we're going to cook that food. We were promptly sat and were provided great service the entire time at the restaurant. One of my big pet peeves is to have an empty drink cup and it never got half empty the entire time we were there cuz all the wait staff and even the manager made sure they never did. My issue is the only thing that made that salad anything like California Dreaming where the Almond slivers. This salad started out as a spring mix with very little iceberg lettuce or hearts. The dressing was more of a honey mustard poppy seed kind of dressing with no bacon and I was very much not impressed with their choice of ham and bag shredded cheese. I did see some of the other entrees brought to other tables like the fried chicken and hamburgers which looked absolutely amazing. The cake counter would make you miserable trying to eat one slice of the size cake they had but I would definitely take that challenge the next time I'm there. They were amazing looking cakes and pies. All in all I was not at all impressed with the salads we got and will never get them again but definitely will go back to try their other items because they looked amazing.

Moncks Corner has so many fast food restaurants but today I wanted to spend my money on a local establishment That's My Dawg. I walked in, weary from a long day running events to be greeted by a guitarist, backing tracks, and 6 whooping elderly patrons. They were enjoying themselves, a little tipsy, and loud. Fortunately I wasn't looking for peace and quiet, just a quick to go order of a chili dog, sausage dog, wings, and onion rings. I shuffled my way to the counter, carrying the weight of the day only to wait 5 minute before spoken to by one of the servers. My order was placed quickly and was assured it would be out "soon." I took my seat to listen to a good guitarist with better backing tracks fighting a losing battle with the impending headache forming at the back of my skull. At the 10 minute mark I considered ordering a drink to silence my inner voice of doubt telling me I should have just gone to Chick-fil-a but surely my food would be out "soon." At the 20 minute mark, the guitarist stopped his set to take a break as I watch other patrons receive their food and drinks after I had ordered. I could only assume extra time and attention was being used for me. Perhaps they needed to grind the sausage in the back before cooking and serving it for my order. Perhaps they had to pluck all those fresh chicken wings. Maybe they were harvesting the onion in real time to deliver it to me. My orders surely not just food, but a statement of art and love too beautiful for human consumption. My excited and eagerness grew until the 30 minute mark when a different server asked if I had been helped. Was my order lost? Had I been forgotten? Maybe they weren't freshly grinding my sausage dog after all! Everything seemed to be ok because after I said I had a to go order, she never returned to give me an update. I had considered resting my eyes, which became increasingly difficult after the guitarists mandatory rendition of "Sweet Caroline" at the 45 minute mark. That's when the angel from the kitchen appeared, bag in hand. My expectations: high My anticipation: at a fever pitch My hunger: endless My reason to give my wife for taking so long: formulating I smiled and took the bag eagerly to my car to drive the 5 minutes to my house to enjoy this meal clearly crafted with an artist's hand and a mother's heart. ...the first words my wife spoke regarding her hot dawg was "weird" My sausage dog was serviceable, the wings were serviceable, the onion rings were also....serviceable. As I sat on my couch ignoring survivor, trying to enjoy the food I waited an entire set to receive, and holding back a primal scream regarding my 6am call time; a single tear fell down my cheek in my sheer disappointment and defeat from this experience. Maybe I'll go back when I'm not coming from work, and have no where to be urgently, and there isn't entertainment, and can order food in my third Jack and Coke. I really do want to try one of the great hot dogs I've been hearing about.

The place is always buzzing, and it's immediately obvious that many of the customers are regulars. There are no menus here. Instead, the waitress hands you a notepad and tells you to write down whatever you want. Not sure what to order? Wanda was happy to point us toward favorites like the blueberry pancakes and corned beef hash. The whole experience is refreshingly simple and surprisingly charming. Speaking of Wanda, she treated everyone like old friends stopping by for breakfast. Another employee wandered through the dining room chatting with customers and checking on folks like she had known them for years. Whether she actually knew everyone or just made it feel that way remains one of Howard's great mysteries. We ordered a mix of blueberry pancakes, eggs, bacon, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious, but the blueberry pancakes stole the show. The biscuits and gravy arrived on a plate that appeared to have surrendered completely to the gravy. If you leave hungry, that's probably a personal choice. One of the most entertaining parts of the experience is the honor system. Since you write down your own order, you'd better remember what you asked for when the food arrives and again when it's time to pay. No cheating. The open kitchen lets you watch the cooks at work, and the entire place feels like a gathering spot as much as a restaurant. The downside is that it gets crowded. You may have to wait for a table, and sharing a table with strangers isn't out of the question. If you're looking for white tablecloths, printed menus, and a polished dining experience, keep driving. If you're looking for good food, friendly people, local gossip, and a breakfast experience that feels like a community event, Howard's is exactly where you want to be. PS, bring cash because that's all they take. But there is an ATM in the building if you forget!
