One of my FAV places to browse for myself and others. Even when I'm not sure what I'm looking for, I inevitably find the perfect gift (and usually treat myself as well). In addition to getting points for a curating variety of clothing, accessories, home and children's items they also earn some for making online ordering and pick up COVID-safe. And for having affordable items and awesome sales (IG: @dressanddwell) The clothing options cover all sizes and styles from outerwear to shape wear, everyday to more fancy - and there are some great sale items. Their accessories are perfect for stocking stuffers. They range from jewelry to gloves/hats to seasonal mugs/wine glasses and office flair. The city prints are very thoughtful gifts as well. Their quirky and modern greeting card selection features unique ways to finish off the present (their bags/tissue paper is typically all I need for a present!). The children's area has the requisite adorable clothes but also some fantastic holiday books and advent calendars. They have great books that combo with corresponding stuffed animals that make great gifts year round. They have displays dedicated to engagement/weddings and birthdays to really make any celebration an extra special event! Love this little boutique! Heard about them through LouWhatWear and the "virtual" derby fundraiser, and decided to see their online store. My first purchase was through the online store; I ended up returning an item and made my second purchase online. I finally was in town and was able to go to the store myself! I found out there are SO MANY MORE items in the store than online! I wish the online store had everything but items move quickly. The store is huge. There are two sides to the store. I took my time, browsing through the store. The employee was busy helping a customer but as soon as she was done, she greeted me. She started a fitting room for me and I mentioned I had placed an order online (my third order!) and wanted to try it on. She grabbed my item and put it in the dressing room as well. It was all packaged up and ready to go. I tried on at least ten items. I ended up with six or seven items that I wanted and then started browsing the home goods. Of course I found more items I wanted! At the register, I noticed they have LipSense! So I grabbed a couple of those, too! I mentioned I had some online credit and they were happy to split my order up so I could use my online credit. The only issue was, the online credit could only be used on an item that is sold online. Luckily, IO had one in my hand! My clothes, home goods and lipstick were all packed up nicely and they wished me well. I had a great time shopping in this store. They have a lot of cute items for home as well as accessories - shoes, jewelry, apple watch bands, glassware etc. The employees and shoppers were all wearing masks. Parking is along the street. They are closed on Mondays. Online orders can be shipped, picked up in store, or picked up outside along the alley - your choice. I would recommend this boutique. They have so many unique items. Dress & Dwell is now close to my home ... well at least for the time being. This could be dangerous! I first found the New Albany D&D store a couple of years ago. And like it's flagship, this pop-up contains an adorable collection of women's clothes and accessories with home items and gifts -- even some baby items mixed in. Considering the pop-up in the former Parkside Bikes building on Grinstead is only open through Derby, most of the items are geared to that most sacred of Louisville-centric holidays. It contains fascinators and some Derby dress and romper options (along with other nice spring clothes items). There are also Derby-themed home items, like throw pillows, glasses and art. And beyond that, there are Kentucky- and Louisville-themed fun bits, including some made by other businesses in town, like Please & Thank You baking mixes, Bourbon Barrel Foods spices and Cellar Door chocolates. And the prices range. Much of the clothes items seemed to range $30-$80, with gifts ranging from inexpensive to higher end. But what impressed me the most about this pop-up was how well curated and set up it is. It looks beautiful and is fun to browse. I will be back before long, I'm sure. P.S. This has to be one of my ALL TIME favorite boutiques. The store atmosphere is charming and cute, with decor, glasses, jewelry, perfume and cute stuff all around. The clothing is ON POINT - lots of cute fall stuff in right now with some summer pieces on sale. One of the best parts though are the awesome ladies who work here - I was instantly greeted when I walked in, told about the sale (didn't hate that!), and I tried on about the whole store without any scoffs - in fact I felt SO comfortable taking my time and asking for different sizes, their customer service here is 110%. I didn't feel any pressure to buy (unusual, and I hate that uncomfortable feeling!) but of course I found some great pieces and bought them anyway :) Highly recommend checking this place out. I'll def be back! They get new stuff in on Tuesdays and Thursdays and their instagram highlights some of their new pieces (and their sales- woohoo!). read more

I love Dress and Dwell! I have been a proud Dress and Dweller since they first opened quite a few years back. It is nestled in the heart of downtown New Albany. It is a lovely place to grab a gift for someone, or peek around for yourself! There is everything from perfume, candles, jewelry, shoes, greeting cards, women's clothes to baby clothes! I ran in today to grab a bottle of my favorite perfume "Milk"! However, it doesn't smell like milk at all. It is very light and airy! While they do sell it on Amazon, I love shopping local and giving Dress and Dwell my business. While in today, I bought an awesome pair of maroon heels that were only $30! What a steal. The girls that work there are awesome and so willing to help! If you are in the area, it is certainly worth stopping in. read more

Tucked away in the revitalized section of historic downtown New Albany is this little gem of a boutique. I'm a sucker for great clothing, and I love looks that run the gamut from sophisticated to whimsical, and from comfortable to refined. I also love having home decor items that can be great conversation starters, or that remind me of something that makes me smile. I've found a place that can satisfy both of those requirements in "Dress and Dwell." The grammar nerd in me also recently told a friend that with all of the nice-looking clothing in the place, you could also rearrange some of the punctuation and think of it as "Dress . . . and well!" At this place you can dress well, and for a fraction of what it would cost at other places. The store has the feel of a very upscale boutique. Its high ceilings, airy plate glass windows, and neutral colors feel clean and are the perfect palette on which to display the clothing, accessories, and home knick-knacks that you won't be able to resist. There are several changing rooms, and plenty of staff available to help you find another size, color, or style, should you need something different than what you're trying on. Accessories range from charms on delicate chains (like the Lucky Feather charms that caught my eye) to chunky statement necklaces and rings. Purses and handbags range from genuine Kate Spade merchandise to more affordable, but still quality-crafted purses and wallets; I don't need a new wallet but found myself seriously contemplating one that would be under $10 after a 40% discount. On the day that I visited, they were having a sidewalk sale. Not only were the items on the rack outside the store an additional 40% off, but also any sale items inside the store! I eagerly tried on a pair of gold-studded pointed-toe flats (would have been just $10.80!) and can't describe my disappointment that my wide toes didn't allow a comfortable fit. Dress and Dwell is definitely worth the trip across the bridge. I'm already dreaming of my next jaunt over there and imagining what surprises might be in store. Don't believe me? Finally made the trip to New Albany to check this place out, since they're now open during this COVID-19 chaos (stupid Louisville)! Ladies if you haven't, you must, you will not be disappointed they had the cutest things! But most important the two young beautiful girls working were delightful. The were sweet and helpful, not pushy, because we all know how some boutique workers are! Dress and Dwell is establishment! Dress and Dwell is amazing. It is literally like the owner looked through Pinterest, found the coolest stuff ever pinned, sourced them all, and then put them in the store for shoppers to actually try on, look at in person, and buy. It may not be great for my wallet that I can now easily get my hands on things like the "I woke up like this" coffee mug, monogrammed wine glasses, Kate Spade accessories, super trendy clothing (including plus size) or so many other amazing things, but it definitely makes me happy. I'll be satisfying my inner shopaholic here often now that I've found this place. read more

This is my favorite boutique in the Louisville/Southern IN area! I wish they had another on the Louisville side. It's a great place to shop for both casual and party attire. It also has the cutest home stuff! They sell accessories, shoes, baby stuff, cards...lots of little great gift ideas. If you are ever in need of an outfit for a gathering or a gift someone will love: this is your place. The way they have the place decorated is happy, girly and makes you want to both live there and spend all of your money! You almost want to take a latte in and just listen to the good music they have playing and shop around for an hour or two. Price point for clothes is $$ -- less than Anthro, more than Target (all of which I frequent). This is my favorite boutique in the area. The ladies in the shop are very helpful. The store itself is just off the main New Albany corridor and worth the 5 minute walk. The shop is lovely, well cared for and the items and beautifully curated. There is a wide selection of clothing, bags, jewelry, home decor and children's items. It would be almost impossible not to find the lady in your life a fabulous gift there. The pricing is very fair and there are items at just about every price point. The shop is well worth a visit. You'll be hard pressed to leave empty handed. read more

This is a nice, local women's boutique. They offer a variety of unique clothing and accessories. It can be a little pricey and their clothes are not always seasonal appropriate. My husband and I went in there yesterday to look for a dress for our daughter. There were three people working. We were the only customers in the store. Not one of the associates greeted us, asked if they could help us, or even acknowledged us. It was as if we didn't exist. It's a very unfriendly place to shop. We went down the street to Dada's and were greeted the second we walked in the door. Dada's had just what we were looking for and excellent customer service. I found a piece online that I absolutely loved and went to the store to purchase and I had trouble finding it. Two sweet girls, Emily and Janna, went above and beyond to help me find the piece and they found it for me!! I have extremely high standards when it comes to boutiques and this one exceeds every one. This is a pretty hip shop and I know a lot of the New Albanian's love it which is great. I liked it as well but the staff is not the nicest. Nor the most helpful. Apparently they have a certain clientele they want to cater to (hipster / trendy / 20 somethings) and if you aren't in that demographic you are free to check out the store without anyone bothering to ask if they can help you. This can be good and bad. As a business owner, I would be upset if each person walking into my shop was not greeted upon entering. The staff should also then ask if they can be of service to the person walking in the door. This would be helpful for those not in your demographic when they are looking for a gift for someone that IS in your demographic. Also, when you are whining at 5 - 10 minutes until close and rolling your eyes when a new person walks in the door, you wouldn't be working for me for very long. Other than that, they have some great apparel and shoes. They also have a nice selection of fun jewelry. One last tip, the lady that walks in carrying 3 bags from nearby shops will spend her money in your shop too, if you give her the chance! read more

They offer home decor, cute clothes, workout clothes, children's clothes, accessories, and even some mens clothes now! Their pricing is reasonable. I loved the fact they had clothing sizes past a medium with that information alone, I know I will be shopping there again. I love support small businesses in the community. Where do I even start this place is incredible and so is its staff and owner. I have been coming here for years and known the owner since I was in high school and she has literally watched me grow up. I came her on a mission a few weeks ago to find my dress rehearsal dress. She has known my style since the getco so that helped and she started picking out the typical white dresses and a few nudes here in there. She made sure to pick things that complimented me and got sizes when things didn't fit. She also kept in my price range. I ended up feeling confident and amazing after find the perfect white dress that I can wear again and again after my wedding and some awesome jewelry that compliments my style! This is an absolutely wonderful clothing store and boutique. It is beautifully curated and stocked with items I haven't seen anywhere else. The owner is friendly, kind and helpful, and often has a treat or two around for guests. She has done a wonderful job of choosing elegant clothing and home items that make this a must-visit. She also has some lovely home items. Everything I've seen is reasonably priced and the sales are terrific. It's worth a drive from Louisville, Corydon, Jeffersonville or anywhere else nearby. read more

When I brought my concerns to the owner that Dress and Dwell does not cater to women who wear anything bigger than a size Large, her response was pretty disappointing. I understand that carrying a "curvy line" might not have been successful, but it's likely because limiting "curvy girls'" options to one line may feel really alienating to them. Why not just get more sizes in the clothes you already carry? Other stores in the immediate surrounding area are able to be more diverse and inclusive in their offerings and their promotional photos and they are very successful. I advised to owner to seek guidance from their neighbors, but her response was that Dress and Dwell was doing fine as it is, so there was no need to cater to all body types. That's pretty disappointing. I used to be a customer at Dress and Dwell, but never again. I've had really bad customer service several times, as have many of my friends - likely because none of us look like their "Dolls." Apparently if you're not skinny and blonde, you're not welcome at Dress and Dwell. Well, not in the "Dress" section anyway. So much for southern hospitality. read more
