We went to Drift for New Year's dinner last night. Unfortunately, the service was subpar and we were rushed out. We waited for over an hour and a half to be seated, with RESERVATIONS. During dinner the management dimmed the lights way DOWN and basically telling people to get out. The server did not even offer desert and the group of us left basically speechless. If they had a bewitching hour (11:00 pm), we would have gone somewhere else. The good news is the food was excellent but, whoever decided to dim the lights (maybe to 25 watts) needs to go... RUDE. I've been to Drift for a couple special occasions and I always leaving wanting to return. The service is always outstanding. From appetizers to entrees the food is very flavorful, with unique pairings. The ambiance is very nice, as the restaurant is located in the beautiful Opal hotel. We had a party of 10 adults today at private room. The food was great, the atmosphere and design is very nice. The concern is about the service. The waiter mixed up the main courses, and after we had already started eating one of the dishes, he took it away and served it to another guest. This was quite shocking and raised serious hygiene concerns. It made me wonder whether the same could have happened with the appetizers I had earlier, which made me very uncomfortable. read more

I've been to Drift a couple of times now, so I feel confident enough to make my review. I have been for both lunch and dinner, and the all day menu is great! There is so much to choose from at a decent price point. The restaurant is located inside the Opal Grand Hotel, so it's easily accessible for guests and locals alike. Staff was friendly both times and offered suggestions when asked. I enjoy sitting outside on their wrap around porch, because you can see the ocean and people watch down Atlantic Ave! Pictured here is what I had for lunch the SLOW-ROASTED CHICKEN BLT- Pulled Chicken Salad, Thick-Cut Candied Bacon, Tomato Jam, Lettuce, Avocado, Black Pepper Mayonnaise, Grilled Rustic Bread. It was so tasty and everything was fresh! We've had plenty of other items in the menu: steak frites, pappardelle bolognese, drift burger, beef tenderloin, etc. Everything is delicious and cooked perfectly! There were six of us on 4th of July for dinner and we all enjoyed the food and it's a nice atmosphere. Service was good, however, the kitchen undercooked my fish - Ora King Salmon (it was partially raw inside), so I asked our waiter to have them to cook it just a few more minutes. It took very long for them to bring it back so everyone else was done eating by time I got my food (they didn't remake it, just cooked it more). Thankfully it wasn't overcooked and I did enjoy it. I also liked the Maple & Pomegranate-Glazed Brussels Sprouts. Unfortunately, the Wild Mushroom Pizza/Flatbread was lacking flavor (needs garlic salt & pepper). I will be back. read more

Drift is the No. 1 restaurant in Delray Beach according to TripAdvisor. They don't lie! We were shown to a table on the outdoor deck. I saw there was an empty table that I preferred, and I asked to move to that table against the railing by the street. The hostess said she'd checked and then came back and moved our table closer to where I I wanted to sit. When I said that wasn't the table I requested and can we please sit at that table (pointing to it again), she said it was just set. What does that mean? That's the only negative I can say about this restaurant. I had reservations, and there was no reserve sign on the table I preferred to sit at so there was no reason I couldn't sit there. The hostess had a little attitude. Not cool. Thankfully, our server, Kevin, was the total opposite. He was very attentive, friendly, and engaging. He made our dining experience better because of that. We started with cocktails, a gin & tonic for my husband and a Smoky 75 for me. We shared the lobster avocado toast and burrata & beet salad. I requested bread service to go along with our salad, and Kevin brought out a basket of small rolls with accompanying butter and a small dish of seasoned olive oil. The lobster avocado toast was beautifully, plated. Three small rounds of toast with lobster, avocado, lemon aioli, caviar, egg and petite greens made the perfect bite. The burrata & pear salad had a good amount of cheese on the plate with cubed golden beets and greens. Very tasty. My husband had the grouper for dinner and I had tilefish, which is a local fish according to our server. My husband's grouper was pan seared and cooked perfectly, so moist. My tilefish was an off-the-menu special. It wasn't as light as grouper or flounder, but it was good. Both fish dishes were a generous portion. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious! Drift has a large indoor dining area and also plenty of seating outside. The bar area is large and there are also loveseats and club chairs outdoors to have a cocktail. Drift is located in the Opal Hotel. It's a very popular place, so make sure to make reservations. read more

I would have never thought about checking this place out, but went to lunch with a friend that lives in the area and is a regular here. I am SO GLAD that he introduced me to this place!!! First of all, it's inside of a super nice hotel called Opal, and the decor is absolutely phenomenal. We sat outside so we had a very nice view and could feel the ocean breeze while we enjoyed our delicious food and drinks! We got the marguerita pizza to share, my friend had had it before and highly recommended it. I was impressed! The dough is super light and thin, not too much sauce, just perfect. My friend also had the mahi tacos and he said they were amazing! There are so many different drink options we didn't know what to get, but thankfully we had the nicest waitress ever and she gave us some tips on which ones to get! We had like 5 drinks each!!! The vibe is so warm and everywhere in the restaurant there is something to look at -whether it's a picture, wood bench or sculpture. It was delightful. Had lobster Cobb (cold water lobsters salad, crisp romaine, peppered applewood smoked bacon, heirloom tomato, cucumber chopped egg with creamy tarragon dressing on the side) and my friend had drift chicken bowl (her marinated free range chicken, shaved Brussels sprouts, baby greens, heirloom tomato, Persian cucumber, bucheron goat cheese, pomegranate, puffed quinoa with preserved lemon vinaigrette) and loved it. I felt so relaxed that I felt as if I was on vacation (although I live here). I just love the vibe here. - it is so warm and friendly. On the weekends it is quite different. We were hesitant about eating here because it was pricey and I really don't like "foo foo" foods. I'm so glad we decided to try the food. I had the Hand-Tossed Chicken Tagliatelle (half order) and thank goodness I went with the smaller portion as it was a lot of food. It was SO good!! Creamy and flavorful. We went for prefix Easter dinner. Apparently all the choices were from the regular menu so I feel that I can review appropriately. Honestly, this restaurant is way overpriced and the food was just OK. Nothing special. I was visiting the area and had no idea where to go for Easter dinner so I checked the revues and made the reservation from NJ based on that. Perhaps it was an off night but we were unimpressed. The only truth of the reviews were the outstanding lobster bisque. I would not return as there are plenty of restaurants in Delray Beach that are cheaper and the food is far better. read more

My colleague and I are here running a meeting and decided to sneak away for lunch. She had a very tasty lobster Cobb salad that had so much lobster on it. I enjoyed the Greek chicken pita wrap. We stayed at the hotel and ate here 3 times. The first night was fine. The second night my bf ordered the salmon and it was so salty it burned your tongue. The dessert was good. The third night we asked for no salt and ordered the prime rib. It was raw and so salty we left only having an overdressed Caesar. I think the kicker here is the server knew the whole time how sensitive we were to salt and we told her it was a problem the night before. We sent the food back and they had us pay for the salad. What a beautiful spot in Delray Beach, how have I not been here sooner? The restaurant itself is gorgeous - gorgeous flooring, comfortable seats, very trendy, and sexy. I absolutely loved the wine cellar in the back of the restaurant and the private rooms in the back are gorgeous. We arrived fairly early and had some cocktails at the bar for happy hour. I had Pinot Grigio (which they had more non California options for HH!) and my fiance had vodka/lemonade. I really appreciated the menu - lots of interesting options. We started with the lobster bisque soup - which was very tasty. Then we decided to split the crispy chicken cabana with a side of coleslaw. The sandwich was very tasty overall and I loved the presentation. We also split a 1/2 portion of the hand-tossed chicken tagliatelle - pasta was definitely homemade and cooked very al dente, which we loved. The dish itself was tasty - and the power greens on top tasted very fresh. The restaurant was fairly crowded when we left - lots of business people - I can see why - perfect for a work dinner! Our first visit to Drift in the Opal Hotel. The food and service were excellent, however the valet left much to be desired. First, we waited twenty minutes for our car, when it was clearly not busy. When we finally received our car and I handed the Valet Kevin a tip of $5, and his response was a grunt. Also you should know the hotel charges you $10 for the service. I called him out on it, and with that he opened my car door with three other people in the car and threw the $5 in the car. We are not vacationers, but local residents that will not be returning to your restaurant due to the rude valet. I contacted the hotel and they never responded to the complaint, so it left me no other choice than to write this review. read more

It's been my second time to the Drift first time I ate at the bar. It was perfect. This time I sat outside on a beautiful Wednesday night. Our Server, Anivens, was extremely polite and knowledgeable. As an appetizer we had the spicy humus and the peach salad as recommended by him. After as our main course we had the Chilean Sea Bass with carrots purée and we also had the roast sage chicken with asparagus with sauté butter white beans and garlic. The food was amazing portions were appropriate for the meal. I had the best cappuccino and chocolate truffle moose cake. The Chef and his crew did an exquisite job preparing our meals. So first of all this is a beautiful place right in the Opal Hotel. If you are looking for an elegant looking restaurant this one checks all the boxes. Our party of 6 was met by a very friendly receptionist who told us since we were celebrating a 91st Birthday we were upgraded to a private dining area which was fantastic. The service was excellent and the food very good. We all shared a charcuterie board with our drinks and each ordered entrees. I ordered from a pre fixe menu and for 65 bucks you got appetizer, entree and dessert. I had the steak frittes and mine was cooked perfectly for a medium. My son ordered and his was undercooked so that was a disappointment. Everyone else enjoyed their food. It is a limited menu in my opinion although fish, pasta, meat and fowl are all options. We all shared 3 desserts which worked out well since we were full. The restaurant is moderately priced and since we consumed a bit of alcohol albeit a Birthday celebration I guess the cost was reasonable. Add tip and we're talking about $100 per person. Not bad in my opinion for the complete experience and certainly the nice private dining area. All in all I would go back again and maybe even a staycation at the hotel next time just to check that out. read more
