    Beautiful view

We have been coming here for over 20 years. Management and ownership has changed and the place has been remodeled. We stopped coming due to the crowd that was coming years ago. We booked here for Mother's Day and my mom fell and fractured her knee. Eric was gracious enough to let us reschedule for my mom's birthday. We arrived Friday in September and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We got the big 2 bedroom suite. They have kayaks and bikes that are free to guests. There is no pool but there is a nice little area to sit in the water by the dock. In the room there was a little kitchen area with a microwave and fridge and a hot plate, dishes and pots and pans. The only issue we had was the sofa bed was broken so the room did not "sleep 6" even though it was supposed to. We ended up getting another room to have more space since we could not sleep on the sofa bed, and the A/C was not working in the new unit. They did come out and remedy the A/C situation very efficiently. The crowd also took a turn for the worse. It went from a quiet peaceful weekend to a crowd that was loud, obnoxious, cursing and yelling across the property at each other. They drove their jet skis at dangerous speeds and had ZERO consideration for the other guests. There also seemed to be a family that was not staying at the resort that slept outside in the lounges and swing under one of the tiki huts. They were very nice but bad for optics when you spend $1,300 for a weekend stay here. Not sure we will be back but if we do it will be during the week. It has nothing to do with the staff here as they could not be more wonderful but the crowd that is coming here at times is less than appealing.

Response from drift hotel not only lying about what they told me there in person but then trying to turn blame on me!!

VERY DISHONEST HOTEL!!! I was super excited to stay here after booking over a month and a half in advance but if I could go back I definitely think I could have found something better. The property is very nice and clean and the small hotel offers a quieter experience. I was able to enjoy peaceful mornings and a beautiful view however you're not on the right side to catch the sunset visibly. I stayed a week and requested housekeeping. All I got was towels and a new roll of toilet paper. I didn't ever get fresh sheets once the entire week. When I arrived the bedding in the room was incomplete (later come to find it was because the housekeeper knew the bed was broken) - so unsure if the room was ready or not I asked the front office: They checked and assured me everything was fine. I left my things and headed out for dinner. When I arrived back and went to lay down I noticed the BED WAS BROKEN!! (Probably why the bedding was incomplete: housekeeping noticed, but obviously didn't communicate that to fix the issue before my arrival. Since the office was closed I consulted with the lady at the front desk the next morning after she arrived 45min late with a Starbucks in hand. After having to sleep on a broken bed for 1 night I brought the issue to the office. After having to wait half the day for an answer from the maintenance man only to find out that not only can they not fix the bed that they DO NOT have an equivalent room for me and then I can either leave and they can kindly refund me my entire stay (then I would be left finding another hotel last minute) , They could downgrade my room with no discount, or they can REFUND me for the days that I had to sleep on a broken bed and I can wait to have it fixed. This all came from the mouth of the lady in the office. I chose to stay and be refunded the 2 nights we had to sleep on a broken bed. I did not want a room without a kitchen and I didn't want to scramble last minute on vacation to find another hotel when I booked so far in advance. After returning home I contacted booking.com as directed from the hotel to receive the refund. Here's where it takes a turn. Booking.com said I needed to contact the hotel directly and work it out. I contact hotel. Hotel states they NEVER said they were going to REFUND me. That they would DISCOUNT me!! I would get $24.99 back total for a $100/night room. Completely swindled me! I recontact Booking.com They tell me they'll send an email. If they don't respond they will refund me. They gave 24hrs. I call Booking.com They tell me the same thing. (As if they never sent an email before) They'll send an email. If they do not respond that I can contact them and we can handle the matter further. And they will try to compensate me for the inconvenience.(No amount stated) They now have 72hrs. I call booking.com again. They tell me they'll send ... YOU GUESSED it.. send an EMAIL! They said they have 5 DAYS TO RESPOND!! 2 days go by and I get an email stating Booking.com refunded me 24.99 the exact price at the Hotel originally quoted me for. For me it's not about the money but the dishonesty of these businesses and corporations. Please if anything is wrong.. get it IMMEDIATELY fixed or get a full refund RIGHT THERE! I'm so disappointed. I really wanted this to be a great stay but I'm very regretful.

    Bed bug bites
    Eleonora F.

Bed Bugs Beware!!! My sister and I stayed in room 21 which is supposedly the best room because it offers an ocean front view. My sister slept in the master bedroom while I slept in the adjacent room. The next morning, I woke up covered in red itchy bites. I assumed that they were mosquito bites. I also didn't really have time to fully inspect the bites as we needed to check out by 11 a.m. Upon returning to Miami, I could clearly see that my bites came from bed bugs. I immediately contacted management to notify them upon which they began to seriously gaslight me stating that my bites most likely came from noseeums. First and foremost, noseeum bites resemble flea bites and not bed bug bites. Secondly, my sister would have similar bites since we frequented the same spots during our one night stay in KeKey Largo. In addition, the hotel manager didn't even send me an official inspection report from the exterminator to substantiate her "zero bedbugs found" claim but rather an obscure email with a few lines in very poor English. What I will say is that I was able to avoid bringing the bedbugs back to Miami as I threw out my carry on as well as my overnight clothes. I know that the bedbugs came from the hotel because I haven't gotten bitten since. It's been one week and the bites are stil extremely itchy. Steer clear of this hotel unless you want bedbugs.

    Little closet?
    Jeremy O.

This place is okay but I'll leave my issues I found. There was no shower curtain, a closet door was actually the storage for the electric and water which is fine but the door fell off when I was opening it, and almost knocked over the coffee maker. Not that it was a huge deal but the view out the window wasn't much to talk about. I'll leave some pics

This is how far out Eric went to find our phone and IDs. What a great person!!
    Brittney B.

Wow, can't say enough good things about this place. Its beach view is amazing. The staff was so attentive and all had smiles and happy to help. I have to give a huge shout out to the general manager Eric. He runs that place like a well oiled machine. But even bigger reason we love Eric , We almost had the worst day ever when we lost our phone and ids while paddle boarding. We went into the office super upset .Eric jumped right up, went and got his gear and swam out to look for our phone and Ids. About 30 mins later he pops up out of the water with our stuff!!! I could have cried. Thank you Eric you're such a good person.

Cute place to stay!!! It's a little smaller than expected and a little dated. Cons- Tiny rooms Outdated Water pressure in shower needs an update Equipment to borrow like the bikes and boards need a refresh and update they are really old and missing parts Have to ask for ice or buy a bag onsite Pros: Beautiful dock Water right in front to jump into Grounds were clean Service onsite was excellent!!! Very minimal amenities.. However if you are looking for a place to relax and kick your feet up (bring your own drinks and snacks cause they have none on sight) this is a nice place to stay.

Omg Expensive just because. No early check I . Can't get a cell signal. Free Wi-Fi.......why why????? Can't connect. Ok now the room. Arrived a/c was cranked. Roontemp 81 at 5:06. Setting at 67. Next day room temp 79. A/c 67. Seriously??????? Now the filth and crap see the pics Oh yeah. Supposed to be quiet at 9 pm. Sitting on the pier watching the stars and som Hispanic music blasted by a guest at ten. Then his family shows up and for the next hour loud talking back and forth. I'm thinking drunk family members. And why do why have to wear a plastic wrist band????

    Dock
    Juan G.

It is actually a nice little place. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Great recommendations for eating out and things to do. Room was nice and chilly. Only complaint would be our next door neighbor had the music a bit loud at 7 am jajaja and some banging on the wall. I wish we would've picked a better time to come down to South Florida. It's been raining a lot. This hotel is very cool, about a minute walk to go by the dock. The beach is also very close by. Lots of things to do. It would be a good place to come back to. Hopefully next time we get better neighbors. But it still was a very relaxing stay and a great atmosphere!!

    Senica L.

Wow I was very impressed with this motel. So glad I stayed here. The room was recently renovated and so pretty! Very, very clean! I wish Yelp would allow videos so I can post my video tour. The beach section is small but the water is great for swimming and the pier is so picturesque! The only negative was the Wi-Fi is very weak - not a good spot to work remotely.

    Very pretty property

Cool place to stay. We had a king room (#1), bed was comfortable, room was clean, everything was updated nicely. Bathroom was really small and there wasn't an exhaust fan but that didn't affect our stay. Their outside area is super nice! Lots of chairs to layout in the sun or under the tiki for shade, and at the end of the dock. The only downside is check in is late at 4pm... considering check in is 11, I feel like they could do a little earlier to offer more day time at the property to swim, kayak and paddle board but we would definitely stay there again.

    1 boat boat dock.
    Jillian C.

Beautiful property other then sat we left drove to Marathon 1 hour away and received multiple calls from the actual hotel. It was one of the girls in the office screaming at my husband to get back now and move our Boat. He informed her we were already an hour away so it was going to take us about an hour to get there 15 minutes later we received another call same thing and another call same thing. We did get back. We had to totally waste our entire day driving back-and-forth to move the boat because they only have a boat dock suitable for one boat, depending on which way the winds blowing they had us on the right hand side with wind coming from the north, knocking or boat into their dock, and completely destroying it, but they didn't care because we have the insurance to cover it. I will not be ever staying here again.

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

I loved the fun free E bike and used it every day. I was disappointed only by the fact that you couldn't take the kayaks and the paddle boards out into the ocean and wish that had been advertised better, but that would be my only even slightly negative of this fabulous experience. I wanted to do a shout out to again to Rochelle and Natalie for the care. They took when my fridge malfunctioned and ruined my items in the fridge to go above and beyond and replacing them. The Bungalows felt like a piece of Paradise. When you first…read morearrive, you are greeted by valet staff. Parking is free if you brought a car. We chose to rent and drive from the airport because we had a trip to Key West planned. It's about a 90 minute drive from the airport so, an Uber would have been pretty costly. The valet takes care of your luggage and places it on a golf cart while you check in. The check in process took about 10 min. The front desk staff wasn't super friendly but they weren't rude either. They are supposed to offer you a drink, but we were not offered one by our receptionist while the couple next to us were offered one. No biggie. One thing to note: when you book, 50% is due. Then the other 50% is due thirty days prior to your arrival if you switch your source of payment, they charge you 10%. That same card has do be used for gratuity or add ons. Keep this in mind when you plan. Also, they put a $100/day hold on your card when you check in. After check in, the valet takes you on a tour of the property and then brings you to your room. You'll want to have cash for gratuity for the valet. The Bungalows themselves are gorgeous and offer an outdoor area and outdoor shower. I don't think the beach view bungalows are worth the upgrade. After that, you're on your own for the most part. They schedule your dinner, but other than Bogie and Bacall, they are pretty flexible. Fish Tales is the main restaurant. They offer a four course meal. The food was great. I wouldn't say "amazing" but really well done. The service is impeccable. This is an all inclusive bur gratuity isn't included. This was annoying and probably my biggest complaint. At the end of your meal you are handed a check of all you consumed with a recommend range of gratuity. You put in what you want to leave and sign it and leave. The issue is, it's hard to keep track of how much you're spending. So if you're on a budget, that can be a problem. At night everyone gathers around the tiki bar to enjoy the entertainment. There is only one bad and it fills quickly. The bartenders are also filling drink orders for the pool, and in some situations, Sea Seniors next door. You can also order food at the tiki bar if you choose. It's basic bar food and pizza but quite delicious. There is live entertainment daily from 11-11. There was trivia one night, and karaoke another. But there were no real events offered. In the mornings everyone heads to Fishtales for breakfast. There is a good variety of choices, including a buffet. They do not change it up at all though. So it can get a little boring day after day. They also have a mimosa and bloody Mary self serve bar. Pro tip, bring your own yeti and take two plastic cups of minosa and some ice and put them in your yeti for the pool. There are no drinks served until 11 am at the pool which was pretty odd in my opinion. The tiki bar also doesn't open until 11. It was off season but I will say that the pool didn't really get busy. There are two pools. Ok is a zen pool with little cabana beds. It's more quiet there but the main pool was described as the party pool and he was really chill too. There are about 12 pairs of lounge chairs and umbrellas and two big cabanas with couches. It didn't seem like there would be enough but it ended up to be plenty. We w They have servers come around the pool but it takes quite a bit to get your drinks so pack your patience. They also give you a bill at the end with what you ordered and suggested gratuity. It was easy to forget and just leave so I hated this process. I would have rather been charged a daily gratuity to be split between the staff but that's not what they want to do. Bogie and Bacalls: you get a free night there if you stay for more than 4 days. If you don't it's $300 plus gratuity. This was their high end restaurant and it wand spectacular! You get a ton of food and premium drinks. Expect to tip about $100 here. There is an indoor bar/speakeasy called Hemingways. This is not included in your stay. It's premium cocktails and liquor. There is also the "Family Room" which is a giant indoor/outdoor game room. There are no servers there. If you have a yeti, you could grab a few drinks from the tiki bar and keep it cold. There is a huge TV so we were able to watch the USA game on it with a few other guests. I chose to get a massage. It's a beautiful area of the park but there's no way that 50 min massage was worth $300 + 22% gratuity. They offer water activities. No one was using them. There are some other ads ons but very few guests chose to do them. Overall this is a wonderful, very chill spot and I can see why many guest come back year after year. I wish there were more dining and bar options, and more events offered. The cost was pretty high for what they offer. But we had an amazing time and I'm so glad we did it!

    - Disappointing Stay, Misleading Photos, Poor Response from Management…read more My wife and I stayed in the La Palma Suite for her birthday getaway. We chose this property based on the photographs shown online and the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Unfortunately, our actual experience was very different. The biggest issue was that the room we received did not reflect the condition portrayed in the photos. While it appears the property may have been renovated years ago, much of what we found showed significant wear and deferred maintenance. Some of the issues we encountered included: * A bed that creaked loudly with virtually any movement, making it difficult to sleep. * Shower water that never became truly hot and had very low water pressure. * Mold or mildew buildup visible beneath the sink rim and inside the sink overflow opening. * Rust and corrosion on bathroom fixtures. * Upholstered furniture that was stained, worn, and damaged. * A closet door that would not properly close because it was off track. * Exterior areas that looked noticeably different from the photographs used in advertising. * General cleanliness and maintenance concerns throughout the suite. After reporting the bed issue, management acknowledged the problem and offered to move us to another room with a new mattress. We packed our belongings and prepared to move. However, before the move could occur, the replacement room was reassigned to another guest. We were later informed that because we had not responded quickly enough, the room was no longer available. What disappointed me most was not simply the condition of the room, but the lack of meaningful resolution after management recognized there was a problem. Once a room change was offered, I believe it should have been held until direct contact was made with the guest. To be fair, my wife and I still enjoyed our time in the Florida Keys and had a wonderful birthday celebration. The location is beautiful. However, the accommodations themselves did not meet the expectations created by the property's marketing photographs, and management's handling of the situation left us disappointed. I encourage future guests to look carefully at recent traveler photos and ask questions about the current condition of the specific room they are booking before making a reservation.

It was very relaxing as they have their own beach with free kayaks and paddle boards. Next door is their sister suite that you can use the pool and bikes. It was very private. There are probably only 6 rooms max. My stay there I did not see one person. I will be going back! The price was amazing too!!
