We were out to dinner and thought we would try Drifters. It has recently changed hands and they were advertising for a new cook. It was 8:30 when we arrived and the menu is huge. This can sometimes be a bad sign. But we both ordered breakfast. My husband had an omelet it was very good. I had eggs overeasy they were done perfectly. The waitress was as nice as could be. Disappointing at best, had the messy chicken dinner, chicken was over cooked and tastless, best part of this meal was the rice. Not sure how this establishment has earned such a high rating. Find somewhere else to eat, I will not return here. read more

Just left this restaurant, and I'm very pleased. I had a very good Reuben Sandwich, and my husband liked his burger. Fries were done right, and there was malt vinegar on the table for them. All in all a good experience. read more

Good American style diner. Huge portions with good qualify. Right off the highway while trecking the UP. Might I recommend the the stuffed French toast or the corned beef hash. I would love to see a smaller menu too. I would recommend limiting to a top five servings list and maybe 15-20 more excess meals that are more expensive, thus influencing people to buy from the top five meals. This will have people coming back for the same meal and taste throughout the month. I look forward to the manager possibly taking this advice. Also, I would love to see catering as an option as I truly believe this would boost income in a noticeable manner. I've been here 1 and only 1 time the food is processed heat n serve, I ordered a specialty burger that came out missing some ingredients and others were added. Was not even close to the picture or description. By the time the waitress came back to check on us ( after we flagged down a busser to get her ) my family was almost done eating and I sent mine back and went to Mc D's. On the way home from Marquette I was going to stop with my family at a restaurant down 41. It was closed and we made the decision just to starve and stop in Escanaba even though it was farther than we'd hoped. We figured there would be more choices. I'm kind of glad we didn't settle, because this place was exactly what we hoped we'd find. A great breakfast. Decent coffee, seriously good bacon, very good waffles, massive pancakes, delicious hash browns. Even the little cantaloupe wedge was good. I started this review a week ago and then drove the rest of the way home. I'm back to edit this, so obviously I'm still thinking about it. The service was really good as well. When I'd paid and was waiting for the family to finish in the rest room (long drive!), a server noticed me standing there and asked if I was being helped. I could tell her concern was sincere. The only way I can imagine this place got good reviews is that everything else in town is worse? Or we came on a very off day. We waited to be seated, like the sign said, then we're told we could pick a spot. We picked the only clean table out of 5. Then the waitress stopped and took our drink order and was about to leave the table with out giving us the menus - I had to ask for them. 2 more times she stopped and still had not brought our drinks. Finally we got our drinks after being seated over 10 minutes. Keep in mind we were not here at a rush time. Dinner came a bit after and the Turkey Dinner was as good as it looked, so win there. The shrimp and perch were dry and tasteless and over cooked. The homemade chips were way over cooked. The bacon burger I ordered tasted like the burger was a cheap frozen discount patty. However, the bacon was really good - made me wish I had tried a BLT instead. My fries were soggy. I would not return here or recommend it. read more

We ate at Drifter's when attending the Tractor and Engine Show. The food was always very good to excellent, and their wet burritos are the best I've ever eaten and Ive had a lot of them! Will definitely be dining there next time I'm in Escanaba!! read more

we stop there on a sunday afternoon for lunch we waited 45 mintues for our food and was still waiting on it when we left the manager was rude and said we are very busy and its not our fault cost us 4.20 for 2 cups coffee wont stop there again maybe its for mi people only no stars from us read more
