If someone is visiting Ann Arbor and loves coffee, I always make sure to take them to drip house. The view of the big house is unreal and such a fun vibe inside this coffee house. The aesthetic is very clean and trendy and is just far enough off campus that it isn't over run by students and parking is easy to find. Their pastries, avocado toast, and sandwiches are always very tasty and always feel worth the price to me. There are two draw backs for me. I don't love the lack of reliable seating, especially in the winter when outside seating is not an option. Additionally, the ice coffee lids are pretty impractical. I've been here a few times and I really like the vibe. The staff is friendly and helpful, the pastries are delicious, and the coffee drinks are yummy with the perfect amount of flavoring for me. The coffee was ok, more frustrated with service. If your business is too busy to take online orders, then you should close the online portal. When we placed our order online it said it would take 45 minutes which we were ok with so we waited 40 minutes before arriving at the cafe. Upon arriving we were told they actually don't start orders until we get there so instead it took ANOTHER 30+ minutes to get 2 coffees and 2 breakfast sandwiches. I tried this place today, the day after Christmas, and purchased two croissants, both of which were stale. I was charged nearly $11 for the privilege of eating pastry that seemed at least one day old, and, under the circumstances, was probably two days old. I realize that it may not be possible for them to produce or buy fresh croissants on the day after Christmas, but, if that's the case, they shouldn't open or shouldn't charge full prices for old products. If these croissants weren't stale but, instead, were merely badly made, it's even worse. In any event, I won't be back. read more

The coffee was burnt and the woman taking orders kept grabbing cups with her bare hands and while she wrote our orders on the cups her fingers went inside the cups. I then saw the woman making my coffee run outside and grab the trash can that was blowing away and then was hopeful when she went to wash her hands. My two year old niece knows how to wash her hands better than the woman handling my drinks. Soap on her hands and then she immediately rinsed. I didn't drink my drink but my boyfriend did and he said it was burnt. He pulls espresso at home and knows good coffee. Am I a germaphobe? Yes. But., this is just normal food hygiene. Prices are ridiculous and the quality is on par with coffee you'd get at a gas station. I've tried three times and held off on the review until now hoping it would improve. It did not. Twice in the past my orders have been incorrect and had to be remade. Even after correcting the orders, the quality was very poor. On my most recent, and definitely last, visit my Americano was so weak and burned tasting that I just tossed it out and left. Clearly neither quality, nor value, are a priority here. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches online since the phone call was not picked up and directed to place online order, it Says ready in 25 minutes. when I got to the shop, it took them about 5 minutes to talk to me. After telling them I have an online order, the girl immediately coldly said it's always faster to order in person. Ok... so now I'm waiting. After about 45 minutes total, they placed my orders in different areas on the shelf. This whole time I watched the guy asking every single question to the girl how to make sandwiches (turns out he was the manager), this probably caused the back up and not enough properly trained people work there. I finally got my coffees and ask for a holder, the guy told me to get it myself which is BEHIND the counter that I couldn't reach... when I finally got my sandwich and excited to eat, the bottom of the sandwich wasn't cut, so when I grabbed it it fell on the ground... just turned my morning so unnecessarily side way. I am obsessed with the coffee here. I love the taste. But the customer service is less than great every time. I go often in the mornings and occasionally on the evenings and weekends. But the one girl who happens to be a manager is just mean and nasty. Now, it is not your job to like me.....but you can't act put out and irritated at the fact that someone walks into your establishment and you have to work......get a new job. Gotta give it up to the businesses that open during a pandemic-it shows guts and a bit of bravado. Drip house had taken over the prime spot across from the stadium. Parking can be tricky, but once you're in you'll be met with a beautiful clean aesthetic. I had an iced latte and was tempted with the display of pastries and a few savory bites (always important). Coffee and teas were great (according to my small group) and I really appreciated the Covid guidelines being met. The newest in the glut of coffee shops in Ann Arbor is a good addition. The location across the street from the Big House would have been perfect for them if there had been a regular football season. Now that fall and the cooler weather is upon us I have been searching for places where you could enjoy the (much safer) outdoor aid under cover and with heat and Drip House solves that. They have both a tent and heaters. The coffee was good and the people behind the counter were friendly and efficient. The parking is adequate as much of the clientele seems to be walk up.
