Had an evening to kill and was looking for a show in NYC. This was a great choice. The actors did a great job with improv, impersonations/accents, and even puppetry. The audience was included in the humor and everyone had a great time. The king and queen of the show (two audience members that get to bid on special throne seats in the play) were a great hit and the king really got into it. The cast is not only amazing (one actor did a monologue from Shakespeare on command totally drunk) but they told the story in a funny but understandable way. This show was so much fun. The actors/actresses were awesome and so funny. If you are looking for a fun night out with your friends and want to do something different than the norm, I suggest you give this a shot. If you are one of those people who don't have a sense of humor or are easily offended by anything unconventional then this probably isn't for you. But if you know how to laugh and not take everything in life so serious and can just enjoy great acting and different types of humor, stop reading this and go buy your ticket. We got our tickets discounted through Fever but I also saw them offered discounted on Groupon and a couple of other sites so shop around. Wife and I went on a Saturday night. What a hilarious, well-put together, and engaging performance! The cast was wonderful before, during, and after the show. Audience was a pleasant mix of ages and backgrounds from what we could tell. The intimate setting really appealed to us rather than being a small fish in a big pond at se other huge show. Not to be missed. A real gem for the Holidays! Six of us went last night. Can I say this, it was a lot of fun and you can drink during it! What more do you want in a show? The cast has a way of making everyone feel included, the crowd was full of teachers and English majors like myself, and the show was a perfect blend of Shakespeare and modern references. So, first a bit of context: there are 5 cast members, 4 sober, and 1 completely plastered (this is by design). The play was Macbeth. The basic format of the show was as follows: The actors would go through the play, adding jokes and such to insert some levity into the matter, frequently interacting with and incorporating the audience. The plastered actor would then completely derail the entire scene, such that it took nearly an hour of a 90 minute show to get through the first act, since the drunk actor couldn't let a moment go by without reminding us all how tremendously funny he supposedly was. This meant that a lot of the play felt rushed, and other points felt like they dragged forever, and at times you really wanted to get the obnoxious drunk off the stage. There were a lot of funny lines, even by the drunk actor, but he was still incredibly obnoxious. That's not the reason for the 1 star review, though. The reason for that is the sexual harassment. I attended the show with my sister, who was wearing a black and white dress. Towards the beginning of the show, the drunk actor remarked that the dress she wore made her look like a black and white cookie. Towards the middle of the show, he took off his clothing, stripping down to his underwear, and started leering at her, yelling about how he wanted to "take a bite out of that cookie" and such, while pointing at her and gyrating. She laughed it off, as there wasn't much else she could do, since every eye in the room was on her at the time. Being drunk and onstage is no excuse for that man to sexually harass my sister. He also took a phone from another young woman in the audience, and proceeded to take a picture of his privates with it, and at the end of the show stripped down completely naked and started running around the room. The show had a lot of funny lines, and I laughed for a fair part of it, but what I witnessed was disgraceful, sexist, crass, and completely unacceptable. They need to fire this man, and review what they allow by their actors in the name of comedy. One minor note, I got the distinct impression that some of the actors didn't want to be there. One of them mentioned a few times when he was making his rounds with the audience that he was looking for other gigs in a sort of half-joking way, and literally handed his business card to one of the members of my group. I got the impression that he really didn't want to be there. read more

So this is unexpectedly hysterical. Only reason I'm giving it four stars was because there were some ongoing jokes that were randomly super raunchy, like when you watch a TV series on Netflix and in episode 7 there's a random sex scene and it has nothing to do with plot. Others found it funny, so you might also, but I felt like they were doing such a good job, I thought it took away from that. Other than that I thought it was really quite witty and you don't have to remember Shakespeare's plays to enjoy it. they have some lines and script from some novels, but there's so much happening that really has little to do with Shakespeare. Go to TDF and get tickets to see something decent. What an awesome experience! The actors are hilarious and engaging. The venue is cozy in a hidden library. What a great way to see Shakespeare..surrounded by books! Had a fantastic time seeing this improv-style off off Broadway production. You don't have to be a master of Shakespeare (or even familiar with any of his plays) to jump right in with the plot and story lines, particularly as the cast will take some WIDE liberties in their own custom production. No two shows could ever be the same, and if you have friends in town who want to have a unique and memorable NYC experience without breaking the $ bank, I highly recommend this! read more

The play was hysterical, loaded with pop references to things as diverse as Eminem, Doctor Seuss, and the movie Independence Day. The actors knew their Shakespeare inside out, and were extremely deft at intertwining the actual play -- in this case, Macbeth -- with their clever asides and additions. The audience participation was a nice touch, too. The only reason I knock this down to 3 stars was because one of the actors made a joke about the Armenian genocide. My mouth dropped. Really? That's not only in bad taste -- it's obscene. I know the play is largely ad-libbed, but I would still strongly reconsider making such distasteful jokes in the future. read more

Here's the thing. You go in thinking this is a crazy premise...getting sh!t-faced and watching a Shakespeare play, but what actually happens is you let your guard down and actually enjoy Shakespeare. Kinda like hundreds of thousands of people actually enjoyed his plays nearly five centuries ago. (They weren't ALL sh!t-faced, but there were an awful lot of ale houses and brothels on Shoreditch, so you do the math.) Amazing!!! We just got out and had to write a review! My boyfriend and I had the best time! The show is hilarious from the moment it begins. The cast interacted with everyone at the show and there isn't a bad seat in the house. We've been to many broadway productions and this show is definitely of the funniest ones! The cast runs around the entire theater and it's filled with many pop culture, political, musical references so everyone will have a laugh (even though the sports references flew right past me)! I would round up to four but will not in this case. I attended the show last week and honestly had a good time. I was not exactly sure what to expect, Drunk Shakespeare I kind of thought meant we the audience would get to recite some actual lines, haha. I like Macbeth as well as anyone else. I give the cast credit for keeping everyone entertained on the Wednesday night performance. The show did leave the audience with a lot of laughs for the most part. I kind of think the play length was long enough and only a few jokes I can say were in the "trying to hard" category AND that was closer to the end when they lost my attention. King/Queen concept was interesting on paper but how it played out on this night was rather strange. I did not believe some of the actions to tell the King and Queen to shut up so many times was necessary. I was in the front and even though some other people were talking as well through the audience, I personally was not distracted from hearing the actual actors performances. The one actor got to select someone to shave a D into the guy's chest hair, that was sort of side track stuff but funny. I think the performances can be appreciated by many though on any given day. The performance was soooooo random but so amazing, you dont even need to know ANYTHING about shakespeare and you would definitely enjoy it anyway! drinks are kind of expensive but i'm sure its to support the actors. This is one of the stupidest things I've gone to in my 6 years in NYC. This experience was like was watching a bad episode of Family Guy on fast forward while having a seizure at a Mexican rodeo.
