1-14-17 visit: Front desk help was not at the front when I walked in and one of the stylists had to let me know I would be helped soon. At the end of my blowout I didn't get a receipt in hand nor did I get it emailed so I have no idea if he added the tip or not. He's not doing the stylists any favors by rushing out the clients so quickly. Very different experience from my blowout a week prior. 1-8-17 visit: Front desk girl was super helpful and friendly. My stylist celene (sp) was great. Did exactly what I wanted and I left really happy to where I was excited to come back the following week (today). Oh well, like I said it's hit or miss. In case you are not familiar with Drybar concept; Drybar is a "blow dry bar" concept created around a very simple idea: No cuts. No color. Just blowouts for only $35. Well organized staff, once you make an appointment and get there you are immediately approached by your hair stylist. I loved my hair stylist each and every time since I never ask for a same stylist and I never been disappointed, each stylist did listen to what exactly I wanted and she executed EXACTLY as I asked. She also offered me drink and I asked for a glass of champagne and she brought me a glass without any hesitation. While you sitting on your comfy chair you can watch Classic Chick flicks such as Breakfast in Tiffany, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink. Great experience for a very reasonable price. I currently live in San Jose and so I get my blow outs at Drybar Santana Row. I had to go to a wedding in LA and was about to book my blow out appointment online for this Manhattan Beach location, but I hesitated because I wanted to check reviews on Yelp first. What made me worried was that a few people stated their blow out didn't last very long, and in some cases, flattened the moment they left the store. Since I was going to a wedding and I also needed to have my makeup done after my blowout, it was really important that I have a blow out that would last through the night. After days of looking for other salons, I started to feel desperate, and just booked with Drybar Manhattan Beach anyway. What a great decision it turned out to be! I came a few minutes early and my appointment started right on time. Paige was extremely friendly, personable, and fast! I told her I wanted big loose curls, but I needed it to last a looong time so to please use all the products she wants. She suggested that we do smaller tighter curls and brush them out, since those will hold better and I'll still get that loose messy look. Great suggestion because my blow out lasted until the end of the wedding which was 9 hours later (she did use lots of flexible hold hairspray though which was fine with me)! What was even crazier was that my hair looked even better the next morning! Sexy beach hair, yeah! :P Knocking off just one star because no one was at the front desk when I checked in and so I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes and no stylists acknowledged me either. Also, the shampoo sinks are horrible. There's a really bad water flow problem, so the sink filled with water and shampoo while Paige washed my hair. Bless her heart though, she had to hold my hair up with one hand while washing my hair with the other so my hair wouldn't fall back into the dirty water. Love, love, love Drybar. First introduced to it in NYC, and when I found out that it originated in CA, well, that was enough for this CA girl. So far I haven't been to the same location twice, since I travel so much for work. The fact that I can roll up into any of the cities I travel to and get a consistently great experience is a feat to be commended. The hours are awesome-- I can get off a red eye, dump my bags and head to Drybar for a quick style and show up at a 9 am meeting looking a 150%. Or schedule a late day appointment for a night out. I can usually stretch the blow dry to 4-5 days with their awesome dry shampoo (in my opinion the BEST on the market-- please, please make travel sizes!). As for this location, of the five I've been to, this one is my favorite (followed closely by 34th street in NYC). The stylist who did my hair (wish I remembered his name!) was amazing-- my hair has never looked so good! I walked out feeling like a new woman. So friendly and welcoming and a kick-*ss blowdry with lots of body while still making my curly, thick hair straight-straight-straight. Still in love with Drybar. This has to be the best hair salon experience I've ever had. The shampoo process was like a head massage! Felt sooo good. The blow out was the best I've ever had in LA. I've tried several salons for a blow out specifically on my naturally curly hair and NO ONE has done as good as Talea at Dry Bar. Roots are bone straight, no frizz, perfect curls that lasted all day. I booked this place for a wedding in Racho Palos Verdes. This is the closest Drybar if you are going to a wedding in that area. Very easy to find parking, found a spot right in front of the studio. This is my first Drybar experience, overall pretty good. I knocked down one star because I felt the reception staff was kinda unwelcoming. I felt like I was almost bothering them when I checked in. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience. I got the white wine to drink while I got my blow dry. My stylist, I believe Jackie, usually works in another location. She was very friendly and gave me good suggestions based on my hair. I ordered the Cosmo tai, and added a braid for $10. I have very long, thick hair, and was done in a bit more than one hour. I really liked the outcome, and my curls on the second and third day loosened up but were still nice. The movie The Holiday was playing while I was there. Let me preface this by saying that I've had many a blow-out and they generally last at least 5 days. I have wavy hair that holds on to styles like a champ. I was so excited to go to the Dry Bar this past Sunday to get glammed up for my birthday brunch. My sister came along with me after we had been trying to think of an excuse to go. What better than a birthday? The whole process was just fine (the receptionist didn't overwhelm me with her friendliness) and I deliberately choose the Southern Comfort thinking the bigger volume would help the blowout last longer. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the way it looked when we left the salon. That is until 3 hours after the blow-out when my hair was limp. My sisters cosmo curls? Gone. I was mortified that my sister surprised me by paying $50 for each of our 'dos and they didn't even last the whole day. I woke up today (the day after) to limp, flat locks. I wish I had checked the yelp reviews to see that others had this issue..such a great concept but didn't work for us. read more

I really liked the girl that did my blow out but I had it done at 3pm and before I went out tonight at 6pm I had to recurl my hair. Mind you we left the curls right so they could fall down some not completely out though. What's interesting is when I curl my hair it will last all day. all in all I wish I hadn't spent money on this because I had to do my hair myself anyways. UPDATE: DryBar corporate has been disingenuous in the way they have handled this situation. They do not care about customer service whatsoever but instead come up with excuses such as "if your hair appointment lasts longer than 20 minutes, then there will be additional charges" As well as "next time, come back to any location if you are dissatisfied and they can fix your hair at no cost." They do not own up to their mistakes and they do not address them properly. These excuses contradict one another and I have come to the conclusion that they just genuinely do not care about their customers or the service they provide. I am so disappointed. The atmosphere is great. You feel like you are at a high end hair boutique in NYC. I like the concept and the fact that they don't do anything but blow outs. I wasn't too thrilled with my hair, however, despite the fact that my stylist was very kind and spent 45 minutes working on my long, thick hair. It looked good for about 15 minutes after I got it done, and then it went flat, even though I had plenty of product in my hair. The price was fair, but once you factor in tip, it is just as much as I would spend to go to my regular hair stylist for a shampoo and style. This was my first time here, and I really liked this place and the fact that they had lots of chairs/stylists, cookies/beverages, and chick flicks playing all the time. The receptionist was very friendly and attentive (offering me drink refills and more cookies every 10 minutes), and they were right on time for my appointment. Also, I went on a weekday during my lunch break from work so it is likely different from the packed, hectic weekends. My stylist was great! Just the right amount of conversation/questions and she was very sweet. She used a curling iron to achieve the waves/look that I picked out from their menu book, and misted lightly with some hairspray at the end. My hair pretty much stayed put and did not go limp even towards the end of the day. I kept the style going the next day by not washing, and I actually like the day after's look better!! The waves are not as tight and a little more natural looking, after I brushed my hair out. Sigh, I wish my hair would always look like the "day after." Cost was $35 + $10 recommended tip. Next time I'm definitely going for the 10-minute scalp massage for an extra $10. Parking is convenient since this location is in a giant strip mall off Sepulveda. 26 minutes. That's how much time elapsed between the moment I walked in the door until I was sitting in my car to leave after my $48 (with tip) blowout. Granted, I have chin-length hair, and I didn't ask for anything fancy. And maybe if I were in a rush I'd be grateful to be ushered to the door so speedily. However, I had the day off, my appointment was at 1 p.m., and I was looking for a little indulgence and pampering. The shampoo was so quick that I was actually surprised when she (Alexis) was propping me back up. My hair looks fine; not great, just fine. Of course, I didn't really see the back until I got home because she didn't give me a mirror or really ask how I liked it. Everyone raves about the bubbly, drinks, and cookies. I wouldn't know, because no one ever offered any of these to me. Then again, I wouldn't have had much time to enjoy them. My stylist told me I was her last appointment for the day. My appointment went over okay, just that my hair fell literally 2-3 hours after I got "The Cosmo". I expected it to look like the pics they have posted but it just looked a little wavy. i tried this place becasue of yelp reviews and i love the idea of this place, first off when you walk in it looks very clean everything is white an yellow the girl at the front was very nice and helpful we had an appt at 4 they were very busy so we got in a bit after. and one thing i didnt like they didnt sit my friend and i together . so we get to the washing station pretty cute i the back about 6 chairs or so very updated and nice but with the hair washing the girl was barley touching my hair just taking her nails and scratching the top of my head i wanted to turn around and wash my own hair kinda, i got a mimosa which is a plus so i tell her i want loooots of volume and some curls for my b day but most important lotss of volume so she starting blowing away and away and away an hr later it seems theres finally curls being put in she teesed the back a bit which was fine the front was hardly any volume but the back had some so i was ok with it IF my hair stayed the way it was when i walked out i would have been happy but when i even got to my car it had all ready started to fall (sad face) ! for 35 bucks i feel i could have done my hair better myself and my curls stay longer when i do ,do it myself , now this was my first time here so maybe just maybe i got the wrong person ... i want to like this place i love the idea of going with your friends to get your hair done . read more

My go-to place before a special event!!! The girls here work hard and do everything they can to give you the look you're hoping for. I had an appointment a few months back before a wedding and they missed my appointment time by almost 45 minutes - I was getting increasingly frustrated/worried when they came by to let me know they'll be comping my blow out for the day. Now that's great customer service! Be sure to use the look book or look around the salon to see what kind of blow out you're looking for. Be specific! Also go in knowing how much product you're willing to have them put in. I don't like product near my roots as it weighs down my hair too much. The Southern Comfort is my favorite for big volume and curls - and it falls out so nicely and gently over time. Of course there's the champagne - there's nothing that isn't improved with a glass of mimosa or two! It definitely gets busy so be sure to make an appointment ahead of time. read more

I just love this place! I go here when I have a special event and I need to get my hair done. The decor here is white and clean. I love that they know how to pamper you here. They offer you water and there are little cookies up front. While you are getting your hair done, they have movies playing in front of you to keep you entertained. They do a nice wash and then very thorough blow out. Then they'll style it how you want it and are very quick with the curling. I was amazed at how quickly they style it since my hair is so long! Seriously this place is brilliant! I love the business concept. It is very chic & completely worth every $. I would go several times a week if I could afford it. The online scheduling is easy breezy & the style choices are adorable. I have short hair so the Hot Toddy works perfectly for me. I definitely recommend Katherine P. I have been a couple of times and she is way more experienced than the last stylist that I saw. While I would rate my last experience a 2 due to the stylist not being familiar with the style I was asking for and that it only lasted for a couple of hours, I still give the place a 5 overall. Its my go to place for all special occasions. One more tip....if you want it to last throughout the day, you may want to bring your own hairspray. The one they use is very light and doesn't seem to hold more than a couple of hours. read more

The receptionists are rude. The stylist rush your hair service and the manager is rude and wouldn't show her face. I had a coupon I called when I booked the appointment and asked if I could use it and was told yes. When tried to redeem I was told it was valid only certain days and jasmine the mgr told the receptionist but wouldn't tell me in person! I checked the coupon and did not see the valid dates at all. I was disappointed with Dry Bar. It definitely was a treat for me to come here and it was an experience. To be honest,I think the skills of the stylist were less than par. The way I was shampooed was exhausting because water got in my hair and she was just lathering and not washing. I go to Drybar, the brand, everywhere I travel, all over the country. It's my go-to insurance that when I have appearances, I look great. Not so great this time. She didn't wash my hair well enough. I asked for a Southern Comfort. That's like 9 round brushes all at once. She used one. What resulted was kind of a dirty Mai Tai but awful, flat, static hair that was clearly not red carpet ready. I was already late that night and didn't have time to do another hour for a redo. I called the next day to book the redo and was told they can't, and that someone will call me back in 24-48 hours. Oh, and the call center is offshore. Totally off brand. The following is a near word for word re-enactment: Me: "I'm very upset about my blowout yesterday. The first girl didn't do a good job, and the manager redid it, but it completely fell and frizzed an hour later." Him: "I'm sorry to hear that." (appropriate use of the phrase) Me: "I have an appearance at 5 tonight, so can I come in like 2 or 3 for them to redo it?" Him: "They can see you at 6:15pm" Me: "I have an appearance at 5 so I can't come in after 3 and be done in time." Him: "6:30?" Me: "It's very distressing that you're not listening. I have an appearance at 5. I need to have it done before that. I can't come in after that, I need to come in before 3." Him: "I'm sorry to hear that." um dude, I don't think you know what that means. You're sorry to hear that you're upsetting me because you aren't listening at all, instead of you are sorry that you are upsetting me? He was not sorry. Not at all. He was powerless to do anything to help, can only chat with the stores, no phones, can't transfer and couldn't refund. Useless customer service. Very busy store, but I saw no less than 1/3 of the heads leaving the store that were not what I consider Drybar good enough. My friend was with me and she started to frizz a little after too. Something not quite right, because I've gone to Santa Monica and never had a bad blowout for 4 awards seasons. Oh, and they changed the policy, so it used to be that clip in, sewn in, or bead extensions were $20 more. Now it's all extensions. Including Great Lengths (which we all have) that present zero extra work on their part. Zero. Mine are a month old and perfect. Never had an upcharge before, not even in New York. They say it's been since August. Really? So if they raised their prices $20, have less than well-trained staff requiring more of my time in re-do's, and offshore powerless customer service, I"m going to hazard a guess and say this company is having expansion problems. Because I was just in Vegas and had my hair done and it was AWESOME (as my usual experience has been). But this El Segundo experience is making me rethink. read more

I've been to a few different Drybar locations and this one is by far my favorite. I am always able to get an appointment even last minute and same day. Krista K. is absolute magic! I always leave feeling and looking amazing. I play beach volleyball everyday and the sand and sun do a lot of damage to my hair. After a long weekend of playing Krista makes my hair look and feel super healthy and soft. I would definitely recommend giving this Drybar and Krista a shot. P.S. To all the reviews about curls falling out; all hair is different and styles differently. It also depends on what you are doing after you get your hair done (e.g., dancing and sweating, being outside in humidity, running your fingers through your hair to much, etc.). I would recommend using the Drybar products and hair spray. My style holds into the next day. read more

When I arrive I'm asked if I want a beverage and I'm seated right away. I have a lot of hair so it does take awhile but the time goes by pretty fast because they have free wifi, a chick flick playing and great music. 95% of the time my hair turns out amazing, and the 5% which is hardly, but if I'm not happy with it they fix the problem. They offer a membership program which saves you $ and includes a free blowout on your bday with a few other perks, which of course I have. =) If you haven't been here you need to go! I arrived at 11:45 and was greeted by my stylist around 11:55. I don't remember the name of my stylist but she was super nice and really listened to what I wanted for blowout. This salon has terrible service. I was treated by my stylist on time but when I let her know I wanted an updo, she got upset and said she couldn't do them. She then told me I would need a different stylist for an updo, so I asked for a different one. She proceeded to tell me she could at least wash my hair, great. When she was washing she spilled water all over my outfit and down my neck. Honestly, the hair wash is usually the reason I go to the salon-- it is the best, so this was a big let down. When I was awaiting my new stylist, the woman at the front told me they raised their prices and updos are now 90$... twice as much as a blow dry. So I backed out and asked for loose curls. I got a Shirley temple look-- not cool. At checkout I told the woman this is not what I wanted at all and this hair style does not look good, she told me "it'll fall out, have a nice day". It did fall out in fact... about an hour after the apt there was not a single curl in my hair. I ended up having to do my own updo for the event. I went to the Dry Bar in El Segundo last friday before going to a wine tasting weekend with friends. My bestie wanted me to go with her and get pampered which I was totally up for. This is the first time for me at any Dry bar and I had an enjoyable experience because we ordered some Champagne and they play the best chick flick movies! The only bummer to this trip was that I had my experience done alongside my friend who has been there many times and I envied her stylist because she was very chatty and asked about her plans for the weekend. While washing her hair she asked if she wanted conditioner and plenty of questions while I was a few seats away and my stylist was completely silent. She never told me what she was putting in my hair which would have been nice because it left my hair amazing and because it was my first time there which I told her. My friend sat down to wash her hair first and I was done before her which left me with the feeling that maybe my stylist skipped something. The actual hair washing was nice though because it was good water temperature and scalp massage. The actual hair styling was fine but she was so silent the whole time. I watched the movie they were playing, Pretty Woman, which was really enjoyable. But at the end of the night when I told my friend I wanted her stylist she came back around and said she wished she would of had the quiet one because she wanted to watch the movie. lololol So I got her stylists name and will pick her the next time I go. read more
