Lesson Learned - Don't Go Here for Anything but a Buzz Cut Okay, I hate to leave bad reviews, but I have to be honest--this was one of the worst haircuts my son has ever had. We brought my son into Great Clips not expecting a luxury salon experience, but I did expect a stylist who could handle a simple, styled cut. We even brought reference photos and explained exactly what my son wanted. Somehow... it still went completely wrong. The cut was rushed, uneven, and nothing like what he asked for. No blending, no shape. The picture speaks for itself. just awkward choppy layers that he now has to grow out or pay someone else to fix. This review is for men's and children cuts. Queen is sooo awesome. She listens to your requests and patiently cuts your child's hair. There is ample free parking outside the shop. They have an electronic wait system that makes things very efficient to check in. The system also logs your hair style preferences so it will be pulled up quickly for your next cut. As I said earlier..I can't say more about Queen but she is very sweet and tries hard to please. The haircut itself is also quick and your child walks out with a small treat and a smile. The deal was even better when I found out that my friend was going to manage the location. Parking was easy, I had to check in online and wait about 15 minutes. I walked over to Kahala Mkt. to keep cool. The app says it's my time! The store is clean, and organized. Safety procedures are in place. It's a quick clip and time to run. Sheila, where have you been these past 30 somewhat years? I have been having my hair cut (just a simple bob) for the past 30 years, and NOBODY ever got it right. Most of the times, I came out looking like I was wearing a helmet, other times, rat bitten. These were at high end salons, as well as chain salons. Then I accidentally found Sheila when I first asked her to do a touch up and she patiently fixed it! Since then, she has consistently cut my hair EXACTLY the way I want it. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, I always got my hair done at a fancy salon and spent close to $100 for a haircut, shampoo and style. During the lockdown, I knew many people who caught Covid and several who died. So I was terrified to have any kind of non-essential personal services. Yesterday for the first time in 1.5 years, I felt brave enough to venture out to finally get a haircut. The salon that I went to is no longer in business. On a whim, I decided to try the Great Clips in the new strip mall across of Kahala Mall. I am so glad I did! Everyone wore masks and they had Covid safety precautions set up. Social distancing, partitions, sanitizer. When I walked in, a very nice friendly lady came out and asked me to sign in. She then indicated what chair I should go to. Immediately a stylist appeared and got me all set up. Her name is Queen. She is so friendly and attentive. While she was cutting, she frequently asked me if the haircut is looking how I wanted it. My hair was in horrible shape because I cut it myself at home and made an uneven mess of it. She did an amazing job of fixing it and making it look salon perfect! So I spent $21 for a haircut that was way better than a $100 high priced salon cut. Queen is a fantastic hair stylist with a lovely personality! This was super disappointing! I thought the attitude from the workers was atrocious. I Should have known by watching them work that they wouldn't be able to handle mixed race hair but we were already here and I was like how bad could this be? My 10 yr old son really needed a haircut and I mean they are trained right? Ha My poor son, his hair is all uneven and they are saying because it's curly and coarse. Um I see a lot of curly/wavy haired men with nice haircuts and I'm not asking for a miracle. The manager even stepped in at one point and said if the stylist went any shorter there would be a dent in his hair??? I'm like there's already a dent!!! So basically all they can do is buzz cut anyone who doesn't have white or Asian hair. I would have preferred the lady say that she was not equipped for his hair type then cut it and then LITERALLY SAY ITS HIS HAIRS FAULT! Other issues : 1. The sign in book is located directly in front of the credit card machine. I thought the manager was rude when asking a lady signing in her family to move because another person needed to pay! Um hello don't put the sign in in front of the register! 2. There was boxes and clutter all over the floor because someone has been putting products on shelves but never finished. ( I should have got a picture of that) 3. When I was leaving I was charged for an adult cut so I said " it's a children's cut" .... the lady goes how old is he?? I say 10 and this is what pisses me off she then looks at my kid and goes "HOW OLD R U?" He's like um 10! He is a little big for his age and will be 11 later this year but JEEZ broadcast to the whole store .... like that was so uncalled for I would give 0 stars if I could!! read more

Went in randomly to get my 3 year olds hair cut. He's not an easy client. Blanca was amazing she simply allowed me to hold my son while she edged him up. Gave him a little lollipop for good measure. She assured me not to force him but encouraged me to allow him to adapt to what she was doing and saying to him. So awesome to say the least. This was a good and fast option for a quick women's haircut. Check in online and it says your wait and you can sign up for the text message to let you know at the 15 minute mark. When I checked in it said 30 minutes. So I went to get a drink from Coffee Bean and Tea which is in the same location. While waiting for my tea, I got the 15 minute text. I walked in expecting to wait but after doing another quick check in on their iPad, I was seated right then! I just did a couple of inches off and took out the weight. I can't remember who I had but she was nice and worked very quickly. I like it and my head is much lighter lol. read more

Poor first impression. Probably not a reflection of the franchise but more of the stylist, which is a stretch. A new store opened in the Kuono Marketplace near my home. They were offering a low introductory rate for cuts. Excited, I thought that I would get a cut as part of my self-care regimen. I should have trusted my intuition from the outset. It felt odd as my information was submitted in their database. There was also an extreme language barrier with the woman checking me in. Well, she was the staff that cut my hair. Still, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I showed her a picture of the style of the cut that I wanted. In addition, I specifically told her not to cut too much off of the top. She nodded and never asked for clarification. I basically got buzzed to death. She used the scissors minimally. Granted, my hair was short coming in. I am not a fan of the buzzer. I see its utility but this was either laziness or lack of skill. Toward the end of the cut she commented on me looking like the "Terminator" and a "Robot". Well, I did not want to look like the "Terminator". I wanted my hair style to look like what I showed her in the photo within reason. Regarding the "Robot" comment, I did not know what to make of it. Was this a compliment or an insult? Moreover, she added that I looked "professional". Did I not look professional prior to coming in? Or, perhaps I did not fit the mold to what she deems as professional. Well, I have a postgraduate degree and I hope that is professional enough. She asked what I thought and I replied that the cut was too short. She retorted, "Sorry". I left her an unwarranted tip based on the introductory deal. She had the audacity to offer me her card. I respectfully declined. In hindsight, there were two other stylist there that were well dressed and quite stylish. That, in itself says a lot compared to the frumpiness that weed whacked my hair. There presentation is probably an accurate reflection of their skill set. In any case, I'm bummed out. I look like I'm going to Basic Training. I'm glad that I work remotely. My hair will grow back . I will probably give this place another shot but, avoid this individual like COVID-19. read more

Worst place to get a cut. Rude service and zero customer service. My mother shows the lady pictures of the cut she'd like. Lady tells her you wouldn't look good with that. My mom tells her ok well that's what I want. The lady literally cuts her hair straight across and not at all how my mom asked or near what the pictures looked like. The way she was speaking to her was very rude and condescending. My mother then stood up and let her know that it was what she wanted and wasn't happy. The lady told her again well you wouldn't look good like that anyway but what do you want me to do. The worker also didn't acknowledge another person who walked in and was waiting. Had a great experience here! You can tell if a stylist is experienced if he/she works quickly. Blanca told me she had been cutting hair for over 20 years and it showed. She asked me how I wanted it and I asked for a trim about an inch or so off. I asked for scissors only no clippers and she went right to it. Got a "Great Clip" just like the name. Very satisfied. I've known Tracy for a long time before this location opened and was pleased that she is working here. Diana (I think that's her name from Garry Y's review) is always busy and always seems to have happy customers. The other stylists seem good as well. Not sure about the bad reviews on here and which stylist they are talking about. So, the stylist was great and did a great job cutting my hair. Unfortunately she was new and struggling with the computer system and had to call the manager who was HORRIBLE. After we had been there for a half hour asking for a recharge of the gift card for getting accidentally charged an extra haircut, her focus was on telling me that it wasn't her fault, instead of getting the issue resolved. She then argued with me for 10 minutes demanding that I admit I had said it was her fault. At that point, I agreed. It was her fault that she hadn't trained her employees well enough to use the system. She got more irate and started screeching at me asking if I wanted her to drive 10 minutes from the other store to look at the receipt. I said yes. At this point she just kept screaming to give the phone to the employee. Why offer if she was unwilling? Terrible customer service. We left the store and the manager did not resolve the issue. Instead, the stylist gave us money from her own pocket. Worst manager ever. Zero listening skills and so intent on it being anyone else's fault - including mine that I got overcharged. Great Clips?
