Lisa, at Studio L, is one of my favorite hair stylists and her salon provides such a great experience. Nested right by the Dizz in Remington, this row home converted to a salon provides an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. She has refreshments to sip while you wait and various products, if interested, to try in your hair. I really appreciate that she's never tried to sell me products especially if I'm not particularly interested in them. She is great at looking at an image I bring in or description of what type of look I'm going for and matching it. I trust her with my hair color and my hair cut and refer my dearest friends to her. Most importantly, she is affordable! She never rushes your cut and color but does respect that your time is valuable. She makes her customers feel like they're the top priority in the salon. She has also used products on my hair that are particularly safe and not filled with harsh chemicals.

The event was supposed to begin at 12 so I booked my blowout for 12 and showed up expecting a little more razzle dazzle and some bubbly. There was none to be found, not even an offer of water. I did get my blowout and it did cost $50 so I left satisfied. The salon is really pretty and intimate with friendly staff and owners.

I missed the head massage and hot towel treatment I used to get at the Aveda Salon I frequented in Florida. My first salon experiences in this area incorporated lukewarm hair washing water and no head massage. I couldn't do it anymore. Soiree knocks the hair washing service out of the park. They have their own crew completely responsible for washing hair, massaging scalps and providing hot towel treatments. My daughter likes it so much that one time I was having my hair taken care of, she just asked if she could have hers washed. They fit her in right in. You best believe there is no lukewarm water here. My haircuts themselves are also top notch. Dani is really good at her job. Not only with the actual cutting and attention to detail with my hair but also with the conversation. I am always sad when the haircut is over. It all goes too quickly. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is super easy. They send text reminders so that I am never surprised when it pops up on my calendar. I look forward to my visits to Soiree. I know my family feels the same way.

I arrive to see all black stylists so I'm optimistic. The stylist sits me down then proceeds to say "so we don't have a sit under dryer to dry your hair... do you want wet braids?" I confusedly said no I don't want to leave the salon with wet braids. So then she says "ok well we have a way of washing your extensions without getting your braids wet" meaning that they wouldn't WASH MY SCALP. I ask who goes to get their hair washed and doesn't wasn't their scalp cleaned. And why wouldn't you tell me you don't have a sit under dryer when I spoke with you on the phone so I didn't waste my time coming here?! She tells me "well some people don't mind having wet braids..." wet braids lead to mildew in your hair. And regardless of what people are ok with, as licensed cosmetologists, you should want to provide healthy services and/or make it clear your limitations before you waste people's time. I should have just continued to assume that dry bar wasn't for black people. Instead they proved that to me themselves.

I have medium length hair that hasn't been properly colored or cut in months. The secretary, Lisa, was helpful and informative when booking my appointment for me. She fit me in to see Layla since she had a last minute cancellation. Long story short, Layla is extremely talented and cosmetology is clearly her passion. She gave me a full consolation and even asked me to pull my mask down a little bit so she could see my bone structure and skin tone. I've never had someone so thorough do my hair! She truly earned her 'Master Stylist' title. She was professional while also down to earth, she asked me what budget I would like to stick to. I told her around $150 for the full high-light if possible. In short, Layla completely transformed my hair. She worked quickly and was extremely thorough; She wanted it to be perfect for me. She even gave me a complimentary blow dry so she could see the results of the color. Although the price is higher than I've ever paid, I really got what I paid for. I'm from a smaller town so this was definitely a new experience for me. I feel like Layla was a perfect fit for me. She didn't make me feel like she was taking advantage of me or rushing me. This place might be ok for hair cut but they do not know how to do extensions and should not offer that service. As you may have seen in some of my previous reviews, I am on the hunt for a consistent barber that actually knows how to cut African American hair without slicing my head up like a thanksgiving turkey. Enter Charles and his expertise on knowing how to cut AA hair well. One of the things I truly appreciated was his product offerings were wide and varied. I, being the person I am, always have questions about products trying to learn how things work. He had answers and suggestions for everything. His knowledge on hair and how different hair reacts to different treatments/ products was very impressive. On to the cut... I ended up getting a temple taper and Charles' blending ability is exactly what I've been missing lately from barbers. He cuts with short strokes where needed and long pulls where needed. This man definitely knows how to cut a head of hair. I can only imagine what a pleasure it must be to get him as a colorist - since THAT is his specialization. The blow dry process was great, although it was extremely high heat, I never felt it, well until my edges. I was so glad I chose this salon. Very friendly staff and I was in and out in an hour.
