Why is the Short Pump, VA store so trashy? I stopped by to pick up an order and look around. From the minute I walked in the door there is trash everywhere inside. I asked Ryan who identified himself as manger why there was so much trash and litter throughout, he looked around, shrugged his shoulders and said he did t know. He simply said, "sorry" and walked away.I understand I'm not eating there but it would be nice to sit down and try on shoes with having to find a place without fries and trash on the floor. DSW provides a very wide variety of shoes for both women and men and friendly staff who are very eager to make your shopping experience pleasant. If they do not have style of shoe in your size, they are happy to call the other area stores to see if they have it and they will place a hold on that shoe for a day or so. This DSW is always very neat and clean even when they are extremely busy. They always appear to have plenty of staff and there is never much of a wait when it comes to checkout. The other thing I love about DSW is that, with their rewards program, they are always sending coupons and doing online sales. My only recommendation would be to have a section completely devoted to women's shoes with wide widths, because they are extremely difficult to come by and it's annoying to have to walk up and down every aisle looking for a wide width. Otherwise I seem to always leave DSW with three or four pairs of shoes, it's always fun to find some unique or interesting style. read more

I was just in DSW not even twenty minutes ago, and the woman that checked me out had an attitude the entire time that I was there. When I asked her if the shoes that were out were the only sizes that they had, she nodded her head at me condescendingly and shook her head no. I paid that no mind and continued shopping. When I went to check out, there were no pleasantries exchanged and she seemed as if she hated her job. She asked me for my phone number and I gave it to her. She said that my number didn't come up and asked if there was a different number. I told her that I was not interested in signing up, and then she continued to keep pressuring me about signing up even though I had so no multiple times. Once it finally clicked for her that I was not going to budge on my decision, her attitude only got worse. I will never be going back to this location again. For a shoe lover like me, DSW is everything! Thank goodness it's only about a 5 minute drive away from my house. I can gaze at the rows and rows of shoes whenever my heart desires. They have everything from slippers to boots. I have bought way too many shoes from here I can't even explain. Most recently I scored a cute pair of Vans sneakers that were under $50 (and I actually ended up getting them for even less thanks to a birthday gift card!) DSW has saved my life in many different situations. Whether I needed a pair of shoes (stat) for a last minute function or vacation, this warehouse has always been there for me like a best friend. And don't even get me started on the sale section. I rarely buy anything from the regular price section. You can find the cutest, most perfect pairs of shoes back there in the shoe haven. In fact, whenever I walk into the store I make a beeline to that section. Don't leave before checking out the accessories section. Ohhh man. They also offer accessories such as tote bags, socks, wallets, and purses to name a few. If you're not sure what to get for a friend or loved one, they also offer DSW gift cards. The associates, most of them anyway, are very friendly and helpful as they are doing tasks throughout the store with a smile. Certain associates when at the register aren't warm and welcoming nor smiling. I do understand as the manager isn't friendly and never seen smiling as she goes throughout the store doing tasks or called to the register for customer assistance. Why the 1 star review? I saw a show that I wanted online and saw that it was available for pickup within 4 hours at this location. To my dismay, I arrived to pickup the shoes and the shoes had scuffs on the inside of both shoes, dirty, creased on the top of the shoes, and the sole was work down. It was clear that the shoe had been working multiple times with this type of wear. While one of the associates accepted the return, they shouldn't have. Although the return was accepted, it should have immediately been damaged out. Instead, the store associates placed the shoes on the shelf with the others. The associate at the register says the shoe got dirty from them being tried on in the store. I went to get the same shoe unworn from the shelf to shoe the associate that the sole was work down. Now, if the carpet in your store is that dirty then it needs to be thoroughly cleaned. Not would walking on carpet make the soles worn down. I asked for and showed this to the manager. She offers to clean the shoes and offer a 5% discount. That's unacceptable for used shoes. The manager then offers to order the shoe for me. I'm good because I can do that myself. While the manager told the associate to damage out the shoes, I'm unsure if that happened as I left. Lesson learned is do NOT use the in-store pickup within 4 hours. If you're in-person make sure that you don't get got by purchasing a used shoe. Please make sure that you thoroughly check any and every shoe and item you purchase here. I hope that the rest of you shoe fanatics have a better experience than mine. read more

This store has so many great shoe options, its like shoe heaven to a woman like me! I can buy a ridiculous amount of shoes from here just because! I ordered 2 pair online and had them shipped to the store for pick up. This was a great idea except I forgot about them after they notified me they were ready and one pair got put back so when I arrived to get them they informed me. Most people know the variety of both shoes and prices that DSW has to offer, but the reason I come to this DSW location is the helpfulness and professionalism of their staff. Right after the holidays, with money to burn in my pocket, I went to locate a pair of Danskos (a rare find at a discount to begin with). I saw on their website that they had the shoe in the size and color I was looking for, but for some reason the website was not accepting credit cards. I called, had the shoes put on hold and Marcus, a manager (I think), helped me check out electronically so that I could use all of my coupons. During the holidays the stores are always packed and everyone always seems to be on edge. I had extremely positive interactions with personnel on the phone, on the floor, and at the cashier. Despite the rush, the store was still clean, well stocked, and with attentive staff! I will definitely search for shoes here first! read more

What is there NOT to like about DSW Shoe Warehouse... It may not have the exact shoe you are looking for, however they have plenty for you to choose at a lower discounted price. Since I am on my feet a lot, I have always bought into the New Balance shoes, especially the ones for walking on hard floors. I of course needed a new pair, as the New Balance I have are worn out... I called New Balance and they had NO after Christmas Sales, so I thought I would check out DSW, and I am glad I did... They have a huge selection of shoes of all kinds. Some which are Name Brands and some I never heard of... so you just have to try each on and see how it feels and fits. The BIG problem I found is the lack of Customer knowledge. I asked someone to show me shoes which are best for being on Hard Floors and she pointed to all of them... So, I was back at Square One. The other problem was, I did not waste my time in trying on a shoe I may liked if they did not have my size. What you see is what you get. Once they sell all of that particular shoe, there are NO MORE... Finally, I found a nice walking shoe made by Dr. Scholls. I was surprise in how comfortable it was, and they had MY size.... PLUS it was a LOT lower than the New Balance shoes or about half of what I would have paid in the New Balance Store on W. Broad St. So, I will again return in the future, even though I may have to settle for a different Brand shoe. For me, a GOOD shoe is everything... there is nothing worse than having your feet hurt because of a Bad fit or Shoe. DSW is my go to destination for fabulous, affordable foot wear. This particular location is located near my job so I normally venture here after work or on my lunch break. I have big feet so sometimes finding my size can be quite frustrating when you spot a cute shoe. They have such a vast selection of shoes at this store so I have better luck finding my size and style. Make sure to sign up for the free DSW rewards card to get discounts and deals. You normally get a mailer for a discount on your birthday and throughout the year. They have gorgeous assessories as well. I think that DSW is a great shoe store- if you wear average sizes (from about a 7 to a 10). I, unfortunately, do not have the pleasure of having such normal sized feet. I wear a size slightly larger than the average, so DSW is not definitely not my favorite shoe store. They carry very few sizes over size 10 and when they do they are not in cute sizes. And, when I do try to squeeze into a smaller size, I am left in pain and misery. The only reason that I am giving this location 3 stars is because of the fact that they actually do have cute shoes (albeit not in my size) and their array of accessories is actually pretty good. They also carry Burt's Bees products, which I love. So overall, I actually would recommend this store to someone in the 7- 10 shoe range.
