I visited the Tommy Bahama website to make my selections before visiting the store as I'm not really a browsing type of shopper & I needed items for my upcoming trip to a resort in Puerto Vallarta in a few weeks. I was assisted by Marcia, who I told what I was specifically looking for & she indicated that most items were sold out at the store because the Terrazzo Tile pattern was extremely popular but could be ordered online for me. I tried on several pieces to ensure that I was ordering the proper size & ended up 5 items. It's a cute store in one of safest outdoor shopper centers in the Bay Area, about a 15 minute drive from the northeast quadrant San Francisco. I previously lived in Honolulu & Tommy Bahama was one of my go to stores when I needed any type of stylish & pretty swimwear & resort wear. Great location with a an open window concept that makes this feel like a beach destination! Amazing smells within the home collection, and a great a warm welcome when entering. I like to window shop but after my experience I will be buying online , as the customer base is too high-end for my taste. Marin customers speak over the managers, cut you off while in-line and make rude comments regarding your purchase items. During my checkout the nice and professional manager Chris(Topher) was multitasking while getting yelled at by customers over the phone and in person regarding returns because they don't understand a return policy which was clearly stated. Poor guy ! Overall the store was organized with knowledgeable and friendly sales ladies who helped me find all my correct sizes, even tho the other clientele was a nightmare. read more

I just went by Tommy Bahama in Corte Madera to return three pairs of shorts that I purchased years ago. I recently lost a lot of weight and could no longer use the brand new shorts. The sales women were so nice and generous. They took back my shorts and gave me a full exchange. They were so helpful and wonderful. I purchased a gift pair of sandals for my girlfriend while in Hawaii. I was really clear that I wasn't sure her shoe size. The salesman insisted that I could return them to my hometown in Corte Madera for a refund if they didn't fit. There is no way I would buy them otherwise. They didn't fit so I went to return them at Corte Madera with the gift receipt. They said I could only get store credit and refused to refund me. The manager was horrible, insisting that she did not have the power to refund me with a gift receipt. A gift receipt! After a long conversation, she finally gave me my refund as I was leaving the store, but would only do it if I signed up for the mailing list. Terrible experience, refunds should be easy like at Nordstrom. read more

I love their shirts! I have been wearing them for likely 20 years now. Yes, prices are a bit high but I have no problem with that as the quality is excellent! As I continue to get larger, I have passed my older ones down to family and friends. In fact, I am ordering another right now. I could not be more pleased! read more

Today, I went to Tommy Bahama. I'm Not a Regular customer of TB but I saw a Dress as I walked by and thought I'd go inside and look around. After a few minutes of being ignored by Employees... A Young girl who worked in the store Walked " Right by me " Not saying a Word, Like, Hi, How can I help you or are you being helped or are you looking for "Anything Special today "?! Noooo, she passes me and asks an Asian Woman if she needed help. Not only does she ask she goes and gives her a Compliment of what she was wearing and if she was in Marin for an Event?! What?! I said to myself as I stood there in Disbelief... Feelings slightly hurt and confused. I'm a Very Well dressed and educated young 44 year old. I'm Very well liked and hold myself well. I realized as I was leaving the store i can buy Almost all of Tommy Bahama at Nordstroms and Macy's.. And i intend to do just that. Tommy Bahama in Corte Madera, California has lost a customer. I suggest you Re-train your Employees to have a little bit more consideration for customers that come into your store, because you " never ever know who that person is and the people they know" I went right next store to a store called: Madewell... I will be going back to that store as they were Very welcoming and the customer service was Professional and Warm. Perhaps, Madewell could train TB.. Just a thought. read more

Came in with my fiancé yesterday late afternoon to pick up some wedding outfits for him. Since we are having a beach wedding in Hawaii in the summer and it will be scorching, we decided to get some lightweight linen white pant and shirt. Where else can we find Island clothes but Tommy Bahama? The moment we stepped inside, Shannon greeted us from the cash wrap area and came over to see if we needed help. Since I did some research on their website beforehand, I showed her the groom blazer, vest, pants and shirt that we wanted to try on. She told me that they do not carry groom wedding outfits in the store but would be glad to assist my fiancé with sizes so that she can order the items to our house. She had him try on a Large linen white shirt and 34/32 linen pants. While in the fitting room she came back to surprise us that she was able to find 1 groom blazer and 1 groom vest in the back! We also tried those on for sizes. After we figured out what sizes he wears, it was time to place the order on the computer. Shannon assisted us and ordered us a Large groom vest and 34/30 linen pants. She looked up the groom shirt and unfortunately on the website there was only M and XL and we needed a Large size. She then did an inventory search and found they had 1 Large somewhere in the store. She went to the back and sure enough emerged with a Large Groom shirt! It was meant to be! We purchased the shirt right on the spot and will await the other 2 items by mail. This is what customer service is about! Shannon is fabulous and assisted us from beginning to end. I can't believe all the negative reviews. This is my favorite clothing store. It's in a lovely mall with good people watching. It's always very pleasant to just walk in the store and get that tropical feel. The personnel are consistently polite, friendly and helpful. They do rotate the staff a lot so maybe there was a clinker in there but I've never had one. Great selection of stylish jeans and shirts and they are always accommodating about trying on as many as necessary to get that right pair. What's not to like? read more

Went in today to show them a knit jacket that my wife purchased for me for Christmas. Unlike my most of my other TB clothing ,the jacket was falling apart (made in China). I had no idea what she had paid for it, but I was imediately put on the defensive by the manager who said"we have never sold this jacket and it probably came from our outlet". I called my wife whom made the original purchase and she indicated that she had ordered it from theTB catalogue thru theCorte Madera store. I was told first that it had been sale item, then that it was purchased with a "customer loyalty" card,(duhh), I earned several last year. So much for being a loyal customer! I was issued a store credit which frankly after today's experience, I am reluctant to use! read more

Went back in to buy another shirt for my 87 year old father - he loved the one he got for Christmas. Was approached by a stuck up rude woman (blonde shoulder length hair with glasses) who had no idea about their stock. I described the polo shirt I was looking for and she was extremely condescending. Sorry we did not look the part for your store - we had just come from a basketball game. Kept the cash in my wallet and walked out. Won't be back and will shop online in future. As a side note - the woman who sold me the original shirt was lovely. Short brown hair and glasses. She was working today but was with another customer. read more

There was one bad review for this store but I went anyway. I don't know what was wrong with the reviewer's visit or what her expectations were, but I had the BEST experience. When I entered the store I was greeted by a lovely lady by the name of Shannon who had the widest smile and pleasant greeting. She was extremely helpful. There was another employee whose name was Matthew who also enthusiastically answered all of my questions and assisted efficiently and professionally. Okay, I purchased about 8 shirts, 4 pair of sox, three belts and a few other items from the store on the Big Island of Hawaii over Christmas. We vacation there every year during this holiday and I usually come back home with a load from Tommy Bahamas. Somehow there was one Large rather than XL in my new shirts. Attempting to simply exchange at Corte Madera for a larger size they rudely said they would not without a receipt. Every time I shop at TB, they ask for my last name and zip to identify me as a loyal customer. They refused to help me exchange and said I would need to find the receipt and return to the store (70+ miles away!!). The same day Nordstrom's returned three shirts with my wife's cell phone number only (she purchased for me) with NO issues. Save time and shop where your business is welcomed and the staff are helpful and not RUDE! Sorry Tommy Bahama, you had a very loyal customer but lost this one forever... read more
