We recently came and they changed the layout again. It's kind of how it used to be like 10 years ago, which I like because it's just easy to see throughout the entire store. It's very clean very organized. I love the cute kids section in the front. I did notice they have this new machine, which can help to measure feet or arch. I'm not sure. They also have a little vending, coffee machine near the entrance/exit. I thought that was pretty cool. The stuff are friendly as always. My only gripe is that still, I am a size 5 foot woman, and it is so hard to find that size available in store. So I'm still walking up and down the aisles and not finding anything for myself. Of course they have the clearance section in the back, which all the size 5 is easily accessible there. But it's still very few items, and they're not that cute in the clearance section in my opinion. So I really wish they would carry more shoes that fit me, but I'm kind of an outlier here. What made me want to write this review was how things have changed, both in the store setup and the customer service. I was pleasantly surprised when a young lady came right up to me and asked what I needed as I walked into the store. However, I was a bit concerned when she then quickly passed me off to another young man at the cash register. I was tired and wondered if this would turn into a long process just to return my pair of shoes for another smaller size. To my delight, Brandon quickly asked for additional help at the register as he checked his cell phone to make sure the shoes were available, ran back to the isle and brought back to boxes of different sizes to make sure that I got the perfect fit. I found some Crocs slides that I liked, but they were missing price tags. I asked an employee for assistance, but the barcodes on all the slides were covered by stickers, making them unscannable. The employee told me the price was $35. The slides were in poor condition, with dirty soles, so I asked, "Are they used?" He assured me they weren't and offered a 10% discount if I decided to buy them. However, when I got to the cashier, the price came to $53 after applying the discount. A shoe warehouse? They had me at shoes! What's not to love about DSW. They have a ridiculous amount of shoes on their website/app and in the stores. They have tremendous deals and sales all the time with promos and gifts. I've been a member for several years and have accumulated loads of points and rewards over the years. I have been to different DSWs in 4 cities and my favourite is still the Mission Valley West location in San Diego. The stores inventory is always great. It is clean, organized, easy to find items, and the staff are always extremely helpful. The only downside to this location is the parking. There are several large stores and restaurants in the same strip mall so it is always busy and unfortunately the spots are extremely small. People will door ding you so I prefer to order online and pickup my new shoes. read more

I see people including myself trying to manage my handbag and shoes and try on shoes looking for a place to land. Nope. This place has a great variety of shoes for super prices. Some of the items may soon be going out of style, but I can always find something that I like and will fit my size. Yes, the inventory is heavily skewed towards the ladies, but most guys won't spend hours doing shoe shopping. If you sign up with the DSW Rewards program, then they will periodically send discount vouchers and an annual birthday coupon. All of these may be combined on a single purchase. I have not experienced any problematic service issues as others have. Don't forgot to shop the clearance racks, that's where I found my unicorn! :) The staff is always super helpful. If they don't have your size, they'll find it at another store, or find it online and ship it to you or the store for free! Location is very central, and it's prefect! I can come here and get my shoe fix, then Trader Joe's for groceries, ULTA for makeup, Old Navy for clothes and Marshall's for everything else! Today my step-daughter needed my help in choosing a shoe for college graduation. We went to DSW because you can generally find a shoe that you will like here, they have a huge selection of shoes men, women and children but mostly women( 70% of the store). They also carry bags/purses, some scrafs, sock, leggings and accessories. The store was busy and there were sales people on the floor but not available to really assist you with your selection. They were all busy doing something, but not appearing to be helping customers that I could tell. I think the customers who shop at DSW know the drill, do not shop alone bring a friend (female if you don't want to be rushed) a mom/step mom, a sister, that way you have your own personal sales person. This is fine until you need to ask some one a question about addtional sizes which maybe in the back stock room somewhere. The response is always the same" every thing is out on the floor." . This happened to us twice today. Fortunately, well were able to find the perfect shoe, at the perfect price, to go with the perfect dress, on graduation day. FYI This is a self service store. In need of some cooler weather shoes for the season, I got an email with an additional 25% off clearance. Surprised to see my favorite brand of shoes, JBU on the clearance rack, in the color I was looking for and the style I wanted... I was elated! I wasn't able to find a purse in the clearance section and wasn't crazy about any of the others, but on my way to the register, something pretty caught my eye. It was the one! I'd highly recommend this store, because of the service I received from Ramsen J. today. I'm 7 months pregnant, and Ramsen offered to help carry a huge Nordstrom purchase. This kindness really made my day, as additional support for pregnant women is something I rarely hear from businesses or even the general public for that matter. When I make purchases at Nordstrom in the future, I will try to find check out at the counter where Ramsen is working. Watch out ladies - you may be paying extra for your shoes! Here is the exact same brand and style of Asics sneaker that was $5 more for the women's version. The shoes are identical, which a sales associate confirmed. Any differences in the appearance of the photos are due to my poor photography skills (took pictures from different angles) I realize that this individual store is not responsible for setting the pricing and the pricing is also unequal on the DSW website. Unfortunately, no one on the customer service line knew who to direct me to when I asked about the discrepancy in pricing. Either way, it's important that consumers know. Our daughter has gotten even more beautiful using a good diet and plenty of walking. So for Christmas we all got new Omron HJ-112 Digital Premium Pedometers. My daughter has gotten up to 7,000 steps per day average, woo hoo. My wife and I have used ours for the last week and done a couple of 3-4K step days; sad really. 3,000 steps a day is little more than getting out of bed. So today we decided to clock a 6 or 7K day. Our first stop was DSW. It's really the perfect store for a pedometer; they have long aisles, front to back and plenty of walking room. Long straight aisles is a great plus and the staff is busy doing other things without slowing you down. (see picture of long aisles) My wife had a $20 off coupon ready to expire so it needed to be spent. DSW sends you back about 10 percent of purchases. The return can be applied toward the next shoe buy. Very smart. On a previous visit to DSW I tried to walk beside my wife and give some free advice on which pairs I thought were best. That lasted about 10 minutes before I was sent over to the men's side of the store, all with a smile of course. Today I was very lucky to find a good buy. (see picture) I love Merrell shoes and normally think of getting them at REI. But today, near the back of aisle one, I found a great pair discounted an extra 30 percent. GORE-TEX mids with the vibram sole in a light brown suede color. Perfect. http://www.merrell.com/Home.aspx I took them over to my wife with a big hug. She was happy I found something. I knew she was not done shopping and I offered to meet her down at Borders coffee shop. She thought that was a great idea. DSW gets five stars for (1) perfecting the long straight aisles needed to rack up new record totals on the pedometers, (2) have clearly defined separations between the men's and women's sections, (3) stocking some great shoes with deep discounts and (4) sending back valuable coupons for the next visit. It's a great store and not that far from some good Seattle's Best Coffee. We went on to Fashion Valley doing a complete loop both top and bottom. I am back home and my ped says 5,651 steps. I'm not a big fan of DSW, HOWEVER, if I get a $20 coupon in the mail asking me to shop, I must comply. DSW is great for people who don't get too attached to their shoes or those that don't expect them to last more than a couple of months with regular use. They have a large selection of shoes and their prices are competitive. I prefer shoes that don't fall apart after 3 or 4 uses. How far am I away from LA that they wouldn't have the same stores? I trusted my "smartphone" and did a search for shoe warehouse in San Diego. Of course, it wanted me to go towards the border. 5 locations South of San Diego in the next small town. What the hell? I knew I arrived a bit early so I had time to go venture around but not that much time. I figured out there is a sort of mall area off of the 163 freeway from my search. Of course, I'm smack in the middle of San Diego in the height of traffic. Everyone is trying to get home while I'm trying to go shopping. That's so not me right now. This store is certainly bigger on the inside than it is from the outside. It's also a store for women because 75% of the store are women's shoes. The guys get 4 long aisles. one aisle are dress shoes and another one are sneakers and sandals. I really want to buy Nike but nothing in all white. I look around at all the shoes for all white and came across a few K*Swiss. The way I narrowed it down would be the availability in the sizes for the shoe you picked out. None in my size whatsoever and everything is out on the floor. They do have those those sock liners for those who come in here not wearing socks and trying on shoes. They were in the clearance section tucked away in a box on the bottom shelf. Although there was a slight cankle effect, I was able to remedy it by folding my socks down around my ankles to fill the void. Genius. $188 retail. Sale price $159.94 with an additional 40% off. I had some time to spare before a VIP event and decided to stop in DSW to look for bridesmaid heels. I had good luck shopping in the OC with buying 4 pairs on a prior shoe expedition and perhaps I could have the same luck at this location. Walked in and there were aisles and aisles of footwear and a small section dedicated to accessories. I was disappointed with the limited about of silver shoes on hand. I was even more disappointed that the silver shoes were gauty-lookin. I wouldn't torture my fellow bridesmaids like that!!! I perused more aisles and came across a pair of Coach black patent leather wedges (reg. $170) that were on sale for $80. I have about a dozen pairs of Coach shoes and the brand could be a little funny - half of my collection are comfy and I do wear while the others are closet decor. I did try on comparable (cheaper) wedges from different brands, but I kept coming back to the damn Coach wedges; therefore, I made the splurge...
