My wife and I stopped in here to grab a bite for dinner recently after we'd checked into our hotel on an overnight stay from Christmas Vacation. It was a Thursday night and DT's looked like a very nice place. There seemed to be a lot of tables open but the hostess said there'd be a wait since we didn't have reservations. The bar was pretty empty so we just grabbed a seat at the bar. We decided to split a Grilled Caesar salad and an order of Lamb Shanks. We also ordered two house wines. The Caesar salad came out first and they had split it on two plates. We thought that they had given us each a salad since it looked like they had placed two romaine heads on each of our plates. The bartender said "No, that's how they split it". They must've grilled the romaine on the grill with steaks because the lettuce had a steak taste to it....very very good. We'd never had lettuce taste like that. The salad dressing was very good. Next they brought out the lamb shanks. The menu said it came with 4 shanks, but there were only three on the plate. They were done perfectly and there was a lot of meat on the bone. Some of best I've had. It would've been nice if they'd had 4 on the plate as advertised but we were fine eating just the three of them. Nice place...good service. read more

This place sits on a corner off the pedestrian path in downtown Charleston. The signage makes it look like a higher end place. The place was packed with what appeared to be a downtown after work crowd. I was able to get a seat at the bar. I ordered an old fashioned of course. It was good, but no craft ice. The guy next to me ordered a bourbon with a single cube and it came out with the craft ice. Weird that you would need to ask like that. The filet was downright awesome. Well prepared and seasoned. It came with a loaded baked potato which was well appointed. The bartender was attentive, but not overbearing. I washed it all down with a nice local lager. Great dinner in Charleston. read more

DT Prime is one of our favorites! It always has amazing steak and is my favorite NY strip in the Kanawha Valley. They also have great sides and bread. My only suggestion would be to update the app menu and add some variety. They are on the pricey side but the restaurant is always clean, and staff are always kind when I've been there. Food was alright in my opinion way overpriced for its quality. -Everything- needs salt. The Caprese Salad had very minimal Balsamic but the Balsamic was good. The Lollipop Lamb Chops were super fatty, and not in a good marbled way. Only upside is they were packed with flavor even though they had very little meat. My girlfriend had the 7oz Filet, it came out extremely undercooked. The second time it came out everything tasted like butane on my plate. The potatoes were ice cold towards the center. I ordered the 12oz Delmonico. It came out a little under done but still hot enough that it cooked plenty before eating. The fingerling potatoes were cooked perfect but flavorless. Overall- The alcoholic drinks we had were good. All of the food needed salted. The service was over the top great. The meats were nice but not cooked good. The potatoes were cooked good but not much flavor. The environment was fantastic. The cost of the bill compared to the quality of the food is the only reason I will not be back. My boyfriend and I came for a date night on one of their less busy nights. We still had to wait a little bit, but had a great time at the bar getting a drink while we waited. After that we were led to our table, which was quite cozy and romantic. They bring you a delicious bread, which I was a huge fan of! I always love with establishments have some bread to get you started. We ordered a Caprese salad for us to share, which was delicious! Overall the food was very good, but I do feel the price point was a little bit steep for the quality. Our waitress was not the greatest, she did not check on us often, was not very friendly and messed up a few things during the ordering process. The ambiance is vey classy and beautiful for a relaxing dinner The grilled Caesar Salad is the best I have had anywhere in the continental United States. If you're in downtown Charleston...this is a nice local place to visit. We both had the lobster bisque...stuffed beef rolls...wedge salad and bread. That bread by the way...was so good. It was hot and fresh and to me...it tasted like it had toasted sesame and maybe rye on the outside? I had the Tarragon Room potatoes with my filet. The potatoes were a bit too hard for my personal taste but the flavor was okay. My friend had the Garlic and Rosemary Chicken with risotto. She seemed to like it a lot. It's a bit pricey here...but they have a great wine selection...and next time...I'm going to try their "Steak on a Stone". I would have tried it when we were there but it was a late Monday night dinner...and I didn't feel like learning a new table-side cooking skill at 8:30pm. read more

What an amazing dinner and a lovely environment. This was the best meal I've ever had in Charleston. The service was outstanding. Visited from out of town and met some friends at DT Prime who live in the Charleston area. The quality of the food was okay, not quite as good as we are accustomed to in Florida. I ordered the salmon, my husband got a filet. Both were fine, nothing extraordinary, but probably one of the nicer restaurants in the area. The kicker for me was the mouse that was running around the bar area inside the restaurant. With employees standing right there. Followed by a dead mouse right outside the front door. Our experience was meh to say the least. To begin the host didn't show us to our table. She simply pointed and said to look for our name. The service wasn't much better. Our appetizer plates remained on the table most of the meal and our drinks stood empty. Our medium well steak was bleeding on the plate. It was a very expensive meal for just average food. No Moscato, drinks were in styrofoam cups with lids and my medium rare steak was medium well. The mashed potatoes had good flavor and the scallops were yummy. Well I hate to write this review because I had high hopes for this place. In a nutshell our bill came to $207 and the food and experience was more like $100. The good: They make a mean cocktail. Servers were friendly but barely knowledgeable. Steaks were a disappointment and the "steak stones" weren't mentioned or offered. They were out of the ribeye I wanted, they were out of most salad dressings and other things on the menu. It was my girlfriends birthday and while they did put us in a nice booth, they sat the 3 most obnoxious people literally right next to us even though the restaurant was way less than busy. They were cursing loudly and had obviously shown up borderline drunk. While the cocktail was good it took a half hour to get it. All unacceptable for the price. I want this place to be good and it certainly has potential but they have a looooooong way to go. read more

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner on a Thursday evening at rush hour. They had two tables remaining so we got lucky since they do utilize reservations. Our waiter was polite and quick. While traveling in WV, my husband and I wanted good food late at night. Our hotel was close by so we decided to walk over 9:30pm. So disappointed in our Restaurant Week Experience. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation. The hostess kept telling us the delay was due to patrons lingering excessively and only have one person to buss tables. Once seated, told they were out of scallops, which was part of their RW menu. Then, the wait for food was another 40 minutes, which produced steaks that were tough. I didn't even finish mine. We want to give a huge THANK YOU TO DAVID AND HIS AWESOME STAFF! They hosted our Christmas party and we could have not been more pleased with it.. From the first phone calls until we left after the meal and party we were pleased. Shout out to our waiters Aaron and Shane to the wonderful Chef and cooks.
