We have been working with Derek, son of Dave Tally Carpets and Flooring as he was contracted by our GC as part of a remodel of our home in Anaheim Hills. Current flooring in the living room, kitchen, and den have manufactured, hand-scratched wood flooring. It has a moderate to significant amount of repair that needs to be done as a result of my family's wear and tear over the last 11 years and some damage sustained as part of the remodel. For that matter, damage caused partially by his crew that was also installing casings/moldings/etc. When flooring arrived, the box opened by Derek and a realization was made that the flooring ordered was a wider width than the current wood pieces. "Who took the measurements? Someone measured wrong" was his response. The plan was to lace the pieces into the areas identified for repair. It was also realized at this time that there was more repair to be done than originally realized. The ordered wood was installed in the upstairs hallway and the stairs (not completed as the nosing for the stairs were not complimentary to the flooring pieces they came with). Since the repair was more than anticipated rather than ordering more wood ‍ a different wood sample was presented. We agreed upon the wood. I actually think it was the best match to begin with and it should have been used for the stairs and my hallway. Derek expressed reticence in doing the lacing method we had already agreed upon with the wood he showed us stating it would look like two different floors because the repairs were bigger than anticipated. An important note is that the floor sample Derek provided, when left in the middle of the floor was so invisible I often tripped over it. Also my 11 year old daughter hated the sample "because it looked too much like our current floor. " Seemed like problem solved to me. We have an even better match let's start lacing. For some reason this was not the course of action. Rather discussion on sanding/restraining the floor was introduced. And then all just stopped. No progress. Moldings finished. The back and forth on finishing the nosings continued to the point Derek suggested custom nosings which we have been waiting for. Now it's been close to a month. Derek arrived with nosings today, spoiler's alert they were not the right size so could not be installed. Derek also shared he was "walking away" from the job. My husband and I have been willing and open to discussing options and the associated costs expecting some of the changes in cost would be our burden. Derek talks about the importance of the customer but his actions don't support sincerity behind those words. I can not more strongly urge you to consider using anyone but Dave Tally Carpet and Flooring. read more

After agreeing to the contract and installing the flooring was concerned about sections of the install where the floor wasn't even and in high traffic areas it would certainly be an issue later. He sent his installer to come out and address the issues and told us he would take care of us. Fast forward and we had another section come up. Now he wants to charge us $120 for the "repair". This was not a repair but poor workmanship. Don't use this guy! He is terrible! read more
