A friend introduced me to DTX (the infrared sauna option - not the colon treatment !!!) and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. You get an hour alone by yourself (this is key!!), without any cellular distractions inside a small room equipped with a clean shower and a mini sauna. Bake and shower to your heart's content, under a spectrum of colors that are supposedly great for your myriad issues: collagen rejuvenation, fat melting, or just relaxation, if that's all you want. So many choices. Of course, being the hyper-efficient New Yorker I am, I ran through all of the color cycles twice. The experience was relaxing and rejuvenating. I liked it more than I thought it would, though I'm not sure I'd do it frequently enough to buy packages Highly recommend, especially for those who want to treat themselves with some spa alone time (without the obligation to engage in small talk with a technician of one sort or another). read more

Today was my 3rd hydro colonic and 1st time using their infrared sauna. TOP NOTCH service all the way around. The sauna is in a small room with a shower (yup, you will sweat) and they provide you with water (you'll need it) so you can just sit back and relax. I enjoyed my hour of peacefulness. They have a wide variety of colors to choose from. (They have a handy chart describing each color) After the sauna I completed the colonic. For anyone who has not had one- it's not as bad as you are picturing. You will be thankful you did this and wish you had done it earlier. I really love the infrared saunas here- I retain a lot of water and this helps me get it all out and relax my stuff muscles- the temperature goes up to 158 which is perfect- and you get 1 hour in room -45 mins to sweat and 15 to get ready - or however you want to do it. There's a shower within same room - so it's great for immune boosters (the 10-15 in sauna then cold shower- repeat 3x) And you sweat right away, at least I do. I went to DTX for the infrared sauna. It was a wonderful experience! You are welcomed with a mason jar full of water and walked to your personal room which also includes a shower. You are able to control the colors in the infrared sauna and can connect your iPhone to play music during your session. I scheduled an hour session and was able to sweat it out, shower and leave right on time. I would recommend bringing a large bottle of a water. I'll be back! read more

I just finished my first infrared sauna session at DTX and was so impressed by the space. It's welcoming, calm and clean which isn't always an easy thing to maintain in NYC. You have one hour in the sauna room, and they recommend 45 minutes in the sauna and ~15 minutes to shower. The shower is also located in the same room as the sauna so you have a whole room to yourself for a full hour. Again, not an easy thing to offer in NYC. If you're looking to have some alone time, this would be the perfect way to do it! read more

I have been getting colonics for the last 8 years. I have been to most of the well-known colonics places in the city and have tried both methods - machine and Woods Gravity. I ONLY go to DTX for colonics and sauna. Here is why - 1) Knowledgeable, Experienced People: Everyone I have encountered at DTX is intelligent, well-informed and helpful regarding colonics, plus most of the colon hydrotherapists there have years of experience. I personally see Armando, and sometimes Sasu. I have also seen Mavon. DTX does the Woods Gravity method of colonics. In my personal experience, this method is superior to the machine method. 2) Water Filtration: DTX has an excellent water filtration system. This is very important when selecting a colonics establishment, I don't think I need to elaborate why. 3) Luxurious, Peaceful Atmosphere and Impeccably Clean: The decor of DTX is very elegant, understated and is always spotless. Of course they sterilize the instruments they use. I call it the "Saks Fifth Avenue" of colonics. Plus the saunas are in individual private rooms that have a private shower. 4) Price point: DTX is not exorbitantly priced compared to similar places in Manhattan that do colonics. I have found places that are cheaper and places that are more expensive. A single colonics session will run you $130. I think that price is fair for what you receive: well-filtered water going up your a**, a knowledgeable, experienced person guiding you through the process in a clean, upscale, professional setting. A dear, trusted friend sent me here after I reported extreme fatigue, constipation and an overall bloating in my gut. Having never experienced a colonic before, I had my reservations but they were quickly dispelled once I walked into the office. The serene, beautifully designed environment was immediately welcoming. Armando is the perfect guide to one's first colonic experience. He explained the process and DTX's particular methods (their use of gravity as opposed to the blast method) clearly and succinctly. It's not easy laying on your back with a tube going up your rear end but these people are pros and not for one minute did I feel awkward or uncomfortable. Armando's calm bedside manner was incredibly supportive, and I even got a fairly sizable lesson in nutrition which has helped set me on a path of healing, the benefits of which I am seeing increasingly on a daily basis. I arrived at DTX in much need of a colon cleanse. The receptionist was very pleasant and DTX, while small, was clean and brightly lit. I was assisted by Jen who was ready for me as soon as I arrived (same day appointment). The first thing I noticed in the room was that there was no weird scent. I have had a ton of cleanses before using the ColenZ machine. I will never go back to that machine now that I've experienced the Woods methodology. I didn't even know that I was expelling anything because it was so comfortable, and there's an efficient way of expelling waste. I liked that when my cleanse got intense, I asked Jen for silence and she accommodated. She's very friendly and knowledgeable and I recommend her and DTX. I do hope they get on Groupon or LifeBooker though. I'm accustomed to paying $80 in Jersey for a colon cleanse and here it was $135. Either way, I recommend you give them a try. read more

Because there always seems to be an issue about the temperature in the sauna. Yep, all of the other reviews are correct... There were a mishap on my part & theirs and their 'make it better' offer was just the icing on top of the cake. Here is what happened... I called to schedule an appointment for a colonic and IR sauna session, one behind the other, they had availability the day after the next, so I took it. The next day I called to see if I could go at a later time due to something that came up (mind you, it is now within the 24 hour window before my appointment). At this point, I was ready for them to say no, I forfeit my appointment, reschedule for a later day and go ahead and charge me for not cancelling within the 24 hour cancellation period). I would not have been mad, I was already prepared since it was me with the need to reschedule since something came up. Thankfully, the lady pushed the appointment back. Next day (appointment day)... I receive a call basically saying you are LATE, in such a VERY nice way though.. Then was a snafu on their end, the appointment for the colonic had been rescheduled alone, and not with IR session. They should have been one behind the other, just as the original appointment. Completely rescheduled for the next day, one behind the other. Arrive at DTX, lovely atmosphere, greeted with great customer service and waited on the therapist. Wella was great & so was the IR session. Upon checkout, I am ready to pay, and then informed that they were going to comp my IR session due to the scheduling snafu on their part. THIS, people, is great customer service. I have followed one of the owners (Cindy) for the past 17 years as she worked at other centers and with other business partners. I would follow her to the end of the earth because there is no greater reboot than having a colonic and taking an infrared sauna. Doing either individually is great but a supercharge is doing each back to back. These treatments alleviate stress, bloating, skin flare ups, inflammation and general malaise. It has been my 'secret weapon' living in NYC. If you have had breast cancer and had lymph nodes removed, do not use an infrared sauna. I had 2 lymph nodes under my arm removed in 2003. I used the DTX infrared sauna on 2 occasions recently. I subsequently developed lymphedema in the same arm 2 days after the last sauna. Prior to the saunas, I never had lymphedema issues. I am now seeking expensive treatment from a lymphedema massage therapist to alleviate the painful symptoms. I searched the internet after developing the swelling/lymphedema symptoms, and sure enough, it was revealed that although infrared sauna is good for many things, people who have had breast cancer and lymph nodes removed, should never use one due to the heat ramifications. DTX did not warn about this, and should have Clients sign a documents attesting that they have not had breast cancer or lymph nodes removed, and should provide a clear warning. read more

Walking into DTX is like walking into a sanctuary. Cindy and Armando, the owners, have spared no attention to the details that matter in a wellness setting. The colors are serene, the receptionist always welcoming, and the overall ambience is warm and inviting. The infrared saunas are brand new and top of the line, including chromatherapy lighting. The colonics (gravity method) are gentle yet highly effective, and each therapist is highly trained and attentive to each individual's needs. I'll never figure out how they know whether adding chlorophyll or aloe or nothing at all is right for me at any given time, but somehow they always know the state of my body and what will best serve its health. Horrible experience. I never went to this place and I never will. I called to enquire about infrared sauna. I wanted to come in to pay cash and that's it. The person who answered the phone was very difficult , kept me on the phone for 20 min arguing with me that in order to make an appointment I have to give a credit card #. I said that will never happened. I will stop by pay cash and that's it. She was so stuck on getting my credit card information that I lost interest about going. Manhattan so many places have infrared saunas for $25 dollars per session like gravity east village and AB slim spa why is this place charging $40 and on top of that gives a song and a dance about credit card upfront ???? I started my New Year out with a fasting/juicing cleanse that recommended I perform enemas (on my own), well this made my Mother (3000 miles away) nervous, so I went online and googled 'colonics NYC' where I checked out a few websites and reviews. Thankfully I came across DTX's website! I called Wednesday and booked an appointment for that Saturday. The DTX employee on the phone was very sweet, knowledgeable and helpful. She answered all my questions and gave me the simple instructions to prepare for my appointment. I arrived at DTX Saturday about 10 minutes early for my appointment. Michelle greeted me at the front with a smile. The office is very clean, warm, cozy and it smelled amazing. I took off my jacket, boots and hung them up. I was then greeted by the wonderful Rhian, my colonic therapist. From the beginning to end of my colonic, Rhian was warn, gentle, engaging and so knowledgeable, willing to share her experiences and answer questions about the process, nutrition...etc..... For some, I am sure this 'procedure' is not the most comfortable way to spend a part of their day, but Rhian makes it as pleasant as possible, is very professional and did I mention gentle? It was an amazing experience for me. Fasting and juicing for a full week before was beneficial for my colonic. As I exited the room, Rhian met me to ask how I felt. I paid my money to Michelle, she didn't try to sell me anything, asked me how I felt and wished me a great day. Just to confirm, I have never been to DTX before this appointment.
