I've gone here two times and the first time was a subpar experience but I completely was convinced my second try! This place specializes in tofu and has many selections of different tofu soups as well as other dishes. I love that they make the tofu in-house here and it is a thick, firm texture unlike other soup places that tend to use silken tofu. It feels more filling and substantial. I got the spicy seafood tofu soup. It is definitely very spicy to me though. I find it spicier than other place's medium level. So refrain from ordering this if sensitive to spice. The seafood in the soup was really good, mostly many pieces of squid and shrimp. I like that the shrimp is ready to eat and I don't have to peel it myself which can sometimes get messy from a soup. The squid is cooked perfectly and not overdone or too chewy. If you like spice and seafood, you will definitely love this dish. It comes with rice (egg is extra). I also really enjoyed the banchan this time. There were different side dishes the first time I went that I liked a lot less. I loved the kimchi and the macaroni side dish. The macaroni side dish was a bit sweet- maybe a sauce made from butternut squash or sweet potato? It was the perfect complement to the spicy and savory broth. Thick like a steak! It goes so well with stir fries kimchi! Soybean cold noodles came in a big bowl. The soymilk is thick and they added salt. It was ok just not as good as I expected. The oyster seaweed dubu was good and flavorful. The tofu is not the super silky one, but the real one makes you full. Overall price is on the mid to high comparing to other tofu place. Second time here and the food is amazing! I highly recommend the seafood pancake, it is the best one I have EVER had! Super crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with lots of seafood and huge portion too! The soondubu is also really good, they use a special tofu that is soft but also firm. The tofu still has soft consistency but doesn't break apart at the same time, it holds its shape. The LA Galbi is also really nicely marinated and tender. The rice here is also very soft and fluffy! The only thing is their soondubu doesn't come with egg or fried yellow croaker, you have to add them, and the soondubu that comes with egg doesn't have any meat or seafood. The prices are in the middle, but the food quality is really good! The service is also quite nice, they make sure you have everything and seem to make it fresh, meaning it takes a little longer. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. They put so much thought into the furniture down to the type of cups and silverware to use. The service is also amazing as well. You are likely not going to wait long for someone since they are watching to make sure everyone is doing great. The food was just okay for me personally. They strive for health with their food and make the tofu in house which is so cool. I did enjoy my kimchi tofu soup, but I don't think I would go again, especially with the other Korean restaurants in the area. We ordered the Galbi set where we could choose our own stew and we got the Mushroom Perilla Tofu Stew. Both are delicious. We love how the white rice came in a stone pot so that it was warm throughout the meal. The banchan was nice and tasty too! The seafood pancake was not oily like at some other places and with all the shrimps and seafood bits, it's super great value. This is such a unique soon dubu place in Duluth! First off, the decorations inside are so pretty and comfortable. Their homemade tofus are really special, and I love the taste and texture in their soft tofu soups. I got the perilla seed mushroom tofu soup, and the flavor was really good without being too overpowering. The focus really was the tofu though, and I absolutely loved it. The interior is beautiful and elegant. It's more upscale than your usual korean restaurants in the area. There was no wait when we arrived 6 pm on a Friday night, however as we were leaving the entire restaurant was filled up. We ordered the spicy soondubu soup, grilled mackerel, the homemade tofu with stir-fried spicy pork. We also got the Kong-guksu which was a special they were having. Our favorite was the stir-fried pork. The tofu is very different from what we are used to eating. It's made in-house and tastes very healthy, thick and creamy. The service was okay. I love soondubu and I love tofu in general, so to find a place that makes their tofu fresh in house every day and seems to be obsessed with tofu is amazing! I came here with a group of friends and all tried different dishes. Their menu is clear and easy to understand and I appreciate how they clearly mark what dishes are appropriate for people with various dietary restrictions--their staff were really knowledgeable about this as well (we had one vegetarian in our group and he had a few things to choose from). The buckwheat wraps were a delicious appetizer, and we also really enjoyed the dubu kimchi--the stir fried kimchi was amazing. My spicy oyster soondubu was amazing, the oysters were juicy and fresh, and I like that the rice here comes in a stone pot and they give you barley tea to make the rice soup at the very end. My friends got the pureed soy stew, the kimchi soondubu, LA Kalbi, and the dubu with spicy pork bbq and all really enjoyed their food. The banchan here is great, too. It's not the typical selection you'll see at most Korean restaurants in the Atlanta area, but really good. Ours had some stir fried beans and crunchy radish kimchi that day, which I loved. Service here is incredibly quick and everyone is super nice. It's a newly opened restaurant and while I honestly don't care that much about aesthetics when I go out to eat it's worth noting that this place is cute af. This restaurant makes their tofu from scratch every morning with korean soybeans! I was expecting the menu to be on the pricey side, but frankly, for the quality and quantity of ingredients the restaurant provides, you leave with a full belly at a reasonable price. My husband and I both ordered soon dubu and galbi combos with a thistle rice. We also had the buckwheat wraps, which were phenomenal - large, bursting with pork, kimchi, and veggies, and served with a yummy sauce. I had kimchi soon dubu and my husband had an oyster soon dubu. We both loved our jjigaes. While I was apprehensive about trying a little bit of my husband's oyster jjigae, I was shocked when I actually sipped the broth - it tasted beautifully of the ocean and it felt like I was transported to Jeju Island with one spoonfull. Overall: great place for a nice hot bowl of tofu soup The interior is very clean and feels spacious. The ceilings are high and they even have a fake tree in their restaurant that also creates a spacious and peaceful feel. The tables are far apart and does not make you feel cramped. I overall enjoyed my meals here and I think its a good place for a slightly fancier korean experience. The ambiance is beautiful (but it is cold inside), and the tables are cool and have built in drawers that store the utensils and napkins. The menu is limited, mainly just soondubu and grilled meats, and a bunch of tofu related sides. The food is supposed to be "healthier" and they make their own tofu which has a more crumbly but firm texture. I like how it tastes and absorbs the flavor in the soondubu, but the slabs of tofu (including the sesame one which tastes exactly the same, which is tasteless) are not worth it. I thought the soodubu was really nice and savory. Usually I don't leave a review and that says a lot about how this restaurant truly rubbed me the wrong way. During my first experience here, we were seated for about three minutes looking at the menu and one of the servers came and asked if we were ready to order. I kindly asked if we could get 5 more minutes and she replied with "okay so come back tomorrow?" in a nasty sarcastic tone. I let it slide because maybe she meant it in a lighthearted joking way. Later we ask for water and she just gave us tea again and made it seem like we were an issue. We tip and we go on about our day. The next time we go, we get the same server. She didn't check up on us once and we had to keep waving her down. We still tipped and we again, went on about our day. My friend went back there today because he truly enjoys the food. However, he didn't tip "good" according to the same server we had previous problems with due to her poor service and got chased out by her. She asked why the group didn't tip "well", and they responded simply by saying the service was poor. She goes on to say they didn't eat the food right which has nothing to do with the service but everything to do with their preference on how they like to eat their rice and soup. I have read through the other negative reviews, and it seems like multiple people had the same EXACT issues with these servers or maybe just that one server. The reviews date back to months and years ago, so it is upsetting to see that they have continued this behavior and have not fixed the way they treat their customers. Again, the food is good that's why we went back after poor service, but this time was just straight up harassment. I would not recommend unless they hold their servers responsible/ fix their serving staff. read more

The banchan -- side dishes -- are all very fresh and were delicious. This place is known for their homemade tofu and it is delicious. It's not the super fine tofu, so it does have a slightly rougher texture. I got the seafood pancake and spicy squid with tofu plate when I went. Seafood pancake was panfried perfectly with plenty of seafood scattered throughout the pancake. The spicy squid plate with tofu was super generous with the squid and the blocks of tofu. Du Bu Gong Bang is a tofu restaurant. "Du Bu" is "tofu" in Korean. So they specialize in tofu. Their gimmick is they make all their tofu fresh in house. So you get to taste some fresh tofu. The place looks large inside. It is designed to accommodate a large amount of people. It has the typical, factory, grey, minimalist look that every modern restaurant is going for these days. They have a tree in the middle to add as an accent to the minimalism and grayness. When you walk in, you automatically get Hot Barley Tea. They don't give you cold water unless you ask. They also give you a minimal amount of banchan from your typical kimchis, marinated roots, and others. They also give you cabbage with some doenjang sauce to dip it in. All the silverware is in a drawer on the side of the table, like most modern, Korean restaurants do these days. Since they're a tofu restaurant, they have all the Korean tofu dishes: Soon Dubu and Dubu kimchis. Most foodie people should know about Soon Dubu. It's your typical Korean stew with soft tofu. Well, in this restaurant, the tofu is all the same, they don't seem to differentiate between soft or firm. They probably hand make a huge batch and use the same tofu for all dishes. Unlike other Soon Dubu restaurants, you don't choose spicy level. They have different stews with their own spicy levels. For example, their "Plain Soon Dubu" is indeed plain. It is a clean, refreshing Soon Dubu that comes out bland. They give you a soy sauce based sauce to flavor it. I think it's a dipping sauce for the tofu. Their Spicy Oyster Soon Dubu is the opposite. It comes out heavily flavored and is salty and spicy. The oysters are fresh and plump. The Soon Dubu comes out piping hot. It takes a long time to cool down. It's like drinking lava. The hot tea they give you doesn't help. Also, you have the option to order the rice in a hot stone bowl. And that rice is a billion degrees too. They love everything to be scalding. The other tofu option is the dubu kimchis. They have one that is just tofu and kimchi, with pork, or with squid. I typically like the Pork version. And their version is solid. It's one of my favorite traditional Korean dish. It comes on a hot plate. It has flavorful kimchi and its juices, mixed with the fat from the pork that you can smear the tofu in. I like it better than the squid version because of the delicious rendered pork fat. Their fresh tofu does indeed taste good. I thought it was just a gimmick, but you can taste the freshness. It's also very heavy. The tofu are bricks. You'll be full. For their non tofu dishes, the seafood pancake is excellent. The pancake comes nice and crispy and the seafood is fresh and delicious. It's also huge. For summer only, they have Kongguksu. It's cold soy milk noodle soup. I'm sure the soy broth is made in house. It taste great and refreshing on a summer day. It's one of our favorites to get here. The portions are big. Even though the price is a bit on the higher side (what restaurant isn't these days?), I feel it's a decent value due to the amount of food you get.
