She called a mechanic's shop and was told it would be about $1400. She called Brian and he told her over the phone that it would be about $1000 but bring it in so he could be sure. She brought the car to him. He discovered the battery was bad and sold her a battery for $200. She was prepared to pay for a new alternator and Brian could've taken advantage of that but he didn't.
