We left pur antique mantle clock for repair in October. He said it would take 5 weeks and guaranteed that it would work. Five months later after many delays and promises. He had told us it would cost $200. He said the delays were caused by earthquakes! He finally called to say it was fixed but would cost us $250 because he had to buy a part. We brought it home and it doesn't work! Before it stopped working, we had it for 30 years. He asked if we knew how to work it...we do. Ray was very nice and knowledgable about his work. But, some of my clock pieces were broken from pickup to return that he would not claim to be his doing. Easy mistakes but sad to have that response or offering of correction. I would say to watch carefully of your item and know it well. I had 2 clocks that coincidentally stopped working during the start of the pandemic/shelter in place...(creeepy!). Almost telling of things to come as if "time just stopped" like the whole country...*sigh* Unfortunately, it wasn't as simple as a new battery but both mechanisms that includes a pendulum of my 32" clock just completely stopped working! Hmmm...odd as they are both independent of one another (again creepy!) along with the mechanism of another (but cheaper) clock. Whhhaaaaa?!! I know who uses clocks anymore?!! But to me, these are more wall art ...and if they are functional wall art might as well have them working...it finally took me 7 months and being a little superstitious made sure to get them fixed! Took this clock in November 2018 Fir repairs. Get it running and solder on the bezel ring with glass that broke off . I went in every 3 months to check on progress. Always an excuse on why it wasn't done . I went in to day clock not done but got any excuse. Obviously not a priority job . So I wanted the clock back but he lost the Bezel ring with glass . Paid $150.00 for a tuneup on a wall clock and it stopped working within 2 months. I went back in, and now he wants to charge another $150.00 for a spring! I feel it should have worked for longer than 2 months, and if it didn't he should offer something reasonable and meet me half way or something. He is extremely rude, everytime we have spoken to him. I wish we would of used the nice man at the Livermore clock shop the first time instead. I brought in a modestly priced 'Regulator' wall clock .... given to us as a gift to us by our very young daughter about 25 years ago from the earnings from her first job; sentimental ! I asked that the clock be repaired or have replaced the battery-operated mechanism so it would again operate properly. Ray indicated in might take up to two weeks as the parts needed may need to be ordered from out-of-state.
