The world is a difficult place and it isn't about handouts.. it is about HELPING your fellow human being. Some people don't have families to run to and have to find other resources... Luckily, the Interfaith Food Pantry is here to help. This branch in Studio City serves Studio City and North Hollywood whether you are homeless or stuck in a poverty rut without food. Every Monday and Friday, from 10am-1pm , the First Christan Church (on the corner of Moorpark and Colfax) opens its doors to help those in need. You bring an ID/ proof of residency (different branches of Interfaith help different geographic locales so it goes by zip code) or the homeless just state their situation. Interfaith works on the honor code since no one would be so cheap as to pretend to be homeless to gain some canned goods. (It provides pop-open canned goods for the homeless). Everyone gets two bags. Generally a brown bag with canned goods, some pasta or beans, canned tuna, etc and a plastic bag with bread from stores such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (seriously). These are the breads that "expire" that day from the grocers so the food bank picks them up. The plastic bags also feature any other bakery goodies they gain like cupcakes, coffee cakes, etc. No meats or milk but this isn't a grocery store. No thrills, no fuss, JUST HELP. Bless the people with hearts.

I was so grossed out I just left. But it was very visible I thought it was a small blood stain. Now that place is dead to me. Those things are prob everywhere if I saw one with my naked eye. To make it worse this feels like a bigger goodwill issue. I've thrifted and dumpster dived 30 Years first time seeing a bed bug.

There were people coughing, talking to themselves wandering through every aisle, which made me feel uneasy and constantly looking over my shoulder. I originally came to exchange an item from a different location because I thought this store might have a better selection, but that wasn't the case. There is also what looks like a homeless encampment along the street side of the store. Inside, there were people hanging out at the dining tables (for sale), which made it hard for actual shoppers to move around. I even saw at least two people stuffing items into duffle bags. The exchange process was quick and easy, and the staff handled that part well. However, the store really needs some type of security at the door to better manage who comes in and prevent the issues happening inside.

What are you supposed to do with three dogs on a Sunday morning in LA when the weather is nice?…read moreWell, even though I just summed up almost every morning live here, the correct answer is take said dogs somewhere for some exercise and a nice walk. I've never heard of TreePeople and rarely want to venture into Beverly Hills but my wife was pretty stoked on checking this place out so that's exactly what we did. We showed up around 8:00AM and were lucky enough to snag a parking spot in the lot. The lot itself was pretty packed and clearly many other people had the same exact idea that we did. Once all three dogs were ready to go we enjoyed about 45 minutes of walking before the senior dogs needed to return and pass out in the back seat., fun I know. This area is super nice and has a bunch of different places to sit down on benches and get some amazing views of the city I call home. I'm not sure what the group was, but there was a big group of people being followed by a truck so at one point we had to jump on some stairs and get out of the way, not sure what was going on. The part we did was pretty much the entrance up a few small hills and over to a second bench area, but I'm definitely trying to come back here to hike the mountain at some point. Overall, this place was beautiful and definitely somewhere worth checking out if in the city. The trails I saw were clean and the place is clearly taken care of. I'll absolutely be back soon to hike the trails a bit more without my old dogs and I very much look forward to it.

Staff members are polite, kind and empathetic. If they see that you are serious about your recovery, they will be behind you 100% 'What you reap is what you sow'. I am writing this review with deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment my fiancée…read morereceived at this facility. She entered the program genuinely committed to her recovery, and did everything in her power to get the help she needed. Despite her good intentions and kind nature even while struggling her experience here was not only unsupportive but also actively harmful. First and foremost, there was a serious incident of overmedication. Staff administered so much Phenobarbital that my fiancée became disoriented and fell face-first to the ground. Staff members admitted, in their own words, that they had likely "given her too much Pheno." Such mistakes in medication management are extremely dangerous and unacceptable, especially in a detox environment. To make matters worse, no incident report was filed until I confronted management about it, raising serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and patient safety. Furthermore, the behavior of certain staff members was appalling. One staff member in particular, Mohana, treated clients as if she were a dictator rather than a caregiver. Her disrespectful attitude toward vulnerable individuals who are detoxing is completely out of line. I was told about clients being called derogatory names, including being called a "bitch," and being threatened with discharge at the slightest sign of protest. This is not only unprofessional it is abusive and retraumatizing for people who are already at their lowest point. When my fiancée tried to stand up for herself against this mistreatment, Mohana was "frightened" to the point of "tears" and sought help from the facility manager, Steven Gomez. Mr. Gomez's response was to immediately discharge her without properly investigating what had happened, despite other staff (notably Leo and Sarah, who acted with much more integrity) confirming that Mohana had provoked the situation. He was also unaware of the overmedication and the physical altercation where a male staff member forcefully grabbed my fiancée another clear violation of patient rights and safety. Again, it is unacceptable for any staff member to put their hands on a client. Adding insult to injury, I was not given a full or honest account of the situation when contacted by the facility, even though I was listed under her full Release of Information (ROI). This lack of communication is both unethical and a breach of policy. It is clear from our experience that this facility is plagued by poor management, favoritism, and a lack of structure. There is a severe disconnect between staff members, and some seem unqualified or unfit for their roles. The only positive interactions we had were with Leo and Sarah, who treated us with honesty and respect. We have reported this situation to JCAHO and are awaiting a response from the CEO, Brandon Fernandez, regarding what corrective actions will be taken. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility to look elsewhere if at all possible. If you have no other option due to lack of private insurance, be aware that you may not receive the care, dignity, or safety you deserve. No one should have to worry about being bullied, overmedicated, or physically mishandled when they are seeking help. I am deeply concerned for future clients, especially those who may not have anyone to advocate for them. This level of unprofessionalism and disregard for patient wellbeing could easily lead to tragic consequences. I hope this review helps others make an informed decision and that the facility takes immediate steps to address these serious issues.
