Warm Donuts! What's not to like about 100% fresh made warm donuts! Someone once compared Duck Donuts to Krispy Kreme to me but they are not comparable. The ordering process is simple as you fill out an order form for quantity , frosting, toppings and any extras. The kids will enjoy watching the Donuts being made by an automated cake donut maker the being prepared by the stuff to your liking. They are open from 6 am- 9pm . The door was unlocked, apparently past closing time. I had no idea it was closed. As soon as I walked in, I saw a lady behind the counter on her phone. I was eagerly anticipating my first visit to Duck Donuts and this place did not disappoint. The donuts are freshly made, so it's a soft warm cake with a hint of crust. Mine was smothered in maple glaze. It's a brilliant concept and it works. It's not just about the donut, it's the entire donut making experience that is worth savoring, especially when you're on vacation and enjoying the daily magic of the beach. When I first went here I fell in love with the donuts here. Nevermore. And all it took was one day when I got there half an hour after 7 which was supposed to be open at the time they turned me away and said that nothing was ready so they needed more time to open their doors. What a joke. To have the audacity to look at me outside the door like I was crazy simply because I get there around opening time is ludacris especially for a donut place. After seeing ads and hearing about Duck Donuts, we thought we'd have to visit the actual shop in Duck. The people were friendly, but the donuts weren't inspiring at all. They didn't look close to the pictures on the menu and weren't that tasty. My husband did enjoy his coffee though. read more

Every we always stay at the beach house in Corolla. But because of some changes we decided to stay at Duck last year! I might sound crazy to just write a review for them a year later after I ate there but at least I wanted to share my first experience in Duck. For me personally, I didn't feel like I like Duck at all compared to Corolla, but I did love all the restaurants around there! Love the concept & execution... fresh made-to-order donuts! At this location there were signs clearly indicating that there was one side where you place the orders and another where you pick up. I ordered a half-dozen, and by the time I walked over they were already boxing up my order. When the employee noticed that I was taking pictures of the machine, she very helpfully offered to demonstrate making another donut so I could watch & take pictures, which was really nice. My favorites were the bare donut with no icing at all, and the chocolate. Maple was *very* maple-y, a little too sweet in my opinion. read more

One of those must things you need to do when your in the OBX. These things are crazy good and everyone visiting knows it. With that said you will wait in line if you're not there as soon as they open and believe me it gets tight inside the store because this place is as tiny like a studio apartment. One thing to warn you about these donuts is that you probably won't eat just one and you will feel the guilt and the expansion of your waistline as you eat these sugar bombs. Eventually you just have say, "WTF I'm on vacation" but be sure to take that bike ride or run on the beach because I bet you will be in line the next morning. Cool thing about this place is that the donuts are made to order and you get to see how each gets dunked into the many flavored icings and sprinkles just seconds after you place it. Best donut ever. It's super cool that you can go in and get toppings of your choice! My friends love the maple glaze with bacon - chocolate with coconut - strawberry with chocolate drizzle. My fave is more classic and plain because I simply love the taste of their donut! Cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar & plain glaze are my weakness. Somehow, it just seems healthier. ;) read more

They only have vanilla cake doughnuts so you pick a type of icing/sugar and then add toppings. All of the flavors are delicious and my favorites are maple bacon and peanut butter. Seriously worth a stop if you are in the area, or within a 20-30 minute drive. read more

These donuts are delicious and the cashier on the ordering side was sooo nice. The pick up side left me leaving with bad taste in my mouth as they were talking about how gross my donut they were preparing was. I was standing right there so I said oh wow do you think it's that bad?? To which they both looked up surprised and said oh no it's just about what you like. I said ok since the nice lady across the way just recommended this donut because it was her favorite....to which they said nothing. They both apologized quickly but I felt that they should not of made that comment knowing that the people that ordered them were standing in front of them. The donuts were good and this location has a better view than the kitty hawk location that we went to last year but I don't think I would come back unless I was renting a place across the street again. read more

Yummy sugar rush! I had the maple glaze but next time I think I would get the naked one...the donuts are so yummy you really don't need to put anything on it. The coffee is from a local roaster so that is cool too. Next door is a ice cream place so you can order a donut and then put some ice cream on it...seems like a pretty amazing idea. read more

There are very few "musts" in Duck, but Duck Donuts is one of them. We got a mix and they were loved by the kids and adults. Incredibly fresh and tasty. Yes, they're more greasy than a Dunkin' Donut, but they're also much tastier and it's always nice to support a local business. Only downside is the wait. The line was a little out the door and we waited about 15 minutes. People told us the line can be considerably longer, so be prepared to stand around for 30 min. read more

Parking is limited. Hot, fresh, made to order donuts. I'm not normally a donut person, I haven't eaten Dunkin Donuts in years and I've never had a Krispy Kreme. Don't get me wrong, it's not because I don't like donuts, but rather, why eat it if it's mediocre? But when in Rome.....Duck Donuts is worth the extra mile or time on the elliptical. I had the glaze, which was delicious and my husband had the maple icing with coconut. We enjoyed our donuts on the boardwalk, with a great view. My husband said the coffee wasn't great.
