They've got quite the operation here. Order on one side, pick up on the other side. Lots of cute merch on the order side too. So many options, it could be overwhelming. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun for the kids to watch the donuts get cooked and decorated on the pick-up side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pretty efficient system and service and not a very long wait. Love the S'mores, Blueberry Streusel, Peach Cobbler, and Oreo. Def more of a denser, cakey donut and they may fall apart when you eat them fresh out of the fryer. Def the opposite of a Krispy Crème (light and airy) donut so if you like them heavy and cakey, you'll love these donuts

Lets start with the fact that they shorted us 1 of the donuts we ordered. None of the woman fixing the donuts had their shirts ducked in, so as they worked on fixing a Doughnut their dirty disgusting t shirt would drag over a previous made donuts in our order. This is serious health violation and I can't believe I am the only one that has noticed. I ended up microwaving the donuts hoping to kill any germs left during the preparation. My maple bacon Doughnut was good, but the wife thought her donuts were just average. We won't be going back.

First time going here, and with friends who have worked at Duck donuts before. Rudest experience, and no care for severe peanut allergy. We had the pleasure of getting our order done my Heather N. who greeted the guest before us pleasantly "Good morning what can I get for you all?" and then us, a group of 4 girls, with "I'll take whoever's next" with an agitated tone. My friend, who worked there before, prefaced we had a person in our group that had a severe peanut allergy so that when ordering the fan favorite, we could have the peanut ones substituted. Thinking that was a simple ask, Heather then asked my friend to read them off one by one because she in her words "I don't know all the donuts on the menu". My friend then started to list off the donuts. She then said "slow down honey" my friend showed down, then "your going too fast" my friend slowed down even more. At some point Heather decided to take the menu from my friend, then to make it straitened out slammed it in the counter, I think to show how annoyed she was with us. We ask for a second dozen and she then does the same thing. My friends say again, nothing with peanuts because of the allergy. And we complete our order. We head over to the pick up area and then double check the receipt to make sure there's nothing with peanuts butter on it. There was in fact a donut with peanut butter in there. We went up to the ones preparing the donuts and they actually had it done, which was amazing but we had to ask for the one dozen to be redone. As someone who was really looking forward to trying my friend's favorite donut place, this truly was a disappointment.

Duck Donuts can be found in several cities and locations now, but it is still cool to go to the original in Duck. The selections can be kind of overwhelming. We went with the party pack and they were all delicious. The employees were really helpful and friendly.

I'm so glad we stopped here on vacation! The staff was very friendly. Went to the location in Duck, NC in OBX. You order from a kiosk or a staff member. If you know what you want, use the kiosk. If it's your first time or have questions, order from the staff. Then you go back outside across the deck to pick up your order which they will call you by number. This is to help with the flow when they are very busy. Be ready for a sugar rush. When I got into my 3rd donut my face started to tingle. If you are visiting OBX they have several locations to choose from, you got to try it at least once. In my photos here is what I got. Staying in Nags Head but made the northward pilgrimage this morning to the original Duck's location. Really glad I did. Duck, NC is a bird sanctuary, no fireworks allowed, and is an incredibly charming place. You order and get your coffee/merch in one location, then walk a few steps into another building where there's nothing but the glorious production of donuts made to your specifications and served warm and fresh, right out of the fryer. The lady at the order counter was friendly and helpful, while the donut makers were less talkative, focusing diligently on their craft. I can respect that. Be sure to take a stroll on the connected boardwalk to take in the many great neighboring shops/restaurants and the gorgeous vistas of Currituck Sound.

We love this place! You order on one side, pay, get an order number, and then pick your order up on the other side. You can watch them make the bare donuts too. It was great creating our own flavors. We went 2x on vacation and made quite a few chocolate ones. My favorite one was cinnamon sugar coating with salted caramel drizzle. Of course you can get plain donuts and they will do an assortment for you. They also have coffee, tea, bottled water, juices and t-shirts to show your Duck Donuts pride! read more

There are very few "musts" in Duck, but Duck Donuts is one of them. We got a mix and they were loved by the kids and adults. Incredibly fresh and tasty. Yes, they're more greasy than a Dunkin' Donut, but they're also much tastier and it's always nice to support a local business. Only downside is the wait. The line was a little out the door and we waited about 15 minutes. People told us the line can be considerably longer, so be prepared to stand around for 30 min. read more

Parking is limited. Hot, fresh, made to order donuts. I'm not normally a donut person, I haven't eaten Dunkin Donuts in years and I've never had a Krispy Kreme. Don't get me wrong, it's not because I don't like donuts, but rather, why eat it if it's mediocre? But when in Rome.....Duck Donuts is worth the extra mile or time on the elliptical. I had the glaze, which was delicious and my husband had the maple icing with coconut. We enjoyed our donuts on the boardwalk, with a great view. My husband said the coffee wasn't great. But we would definitely come back. They close around lunch time at most locations. read more

Best cake donuts! I'm not a huge cake donut water, these are wonderful. You order on one side of the dock, then leave that little building and go across and can watch them make it. Don't wait until you get home to eat them! Go outside, enjoy the calm water and EAT! No way you can only try one while in Duck! They are 5 star worthy. read more

FRESH, HOT donuts! The donuts are cake donuts. Admittedly, I've had tastier donuts, but the key here is you get them right off the line. You aren't going to get fresher donuts anywhere. Toppings are simple and classic. Cinnamon sugar and powdered as especially good. Store front shop with just a counter to order and to watch your donuts being made. Take them home or outside on a bench to eat. Staff is warm and pleasant and very patient with indecisive ordering. (They have forms you can use as well) read more

Hot, melty, and delicious! I'm fairly well versed in donuts and these were the best I've ever had. Stopped there three times on vacation. The lemon frosting is perfect, especially when hot. Now I can only look at my Duck Donuts coffee mug in the morning and remember fondly... and crave more! read more

Great set up, order on one side of the shopping strip, pick up on the other side. Tables and chairs in between. Great fresh donors and the best part is that you can customize your donors in less that 5 minutes from ordering to pick up. Great place. read more

Nice dense donut. I just tried the plain, glazed, lemon, strawberry, choc, cinnamon and peanut butter. The hits of our household were the cinnamon (tasted like a churro) lemon, maple bacon and glazed. The choc and peanut butter glaze was kinda of thin and okay. All of them definitely hit the spot. read more

Been getting these amazing Doughnuts for Four years now. It's an OBX staple for sure, kids love watching the staff make them. Krispy Kreme is almost the same but Duck Doughnuts wins by a sprinkle. Parking is a real issue though, so make it a walking trip if you can. Get here early there are lines but the staff pushes them out quickly read more

Read all the reviews and therefore was willing to stand in the long line. Invested about 1/2 hour total. Donuts were OK. Too doughy for me. But the process of picking toppings was fun. My favorite donut shop remains Singing Donut in Fish Creek WI. read more

What more can we say? There were at least 5 kids working, and the gentleman at the register was friendly and helpful. We ordered and waited outside, expecting to wait. However, within about 3 minutes, a nice young lady came out with a warm box of donuts. Yum! What a delicious way to start the day! read more

This review could be one word- AWESOME. For 6 days I went for my morning run and inhaled the sweet smell of freshly baked donuts. On the 7th day, I rewarded myself with this awesomeness. Always our first breakfast when we come down! The doughnuts are delicious and the frostings are amazing. Over the summer they introduced a 'maple bacon' doughnut, which you can still order, it just isn't on the menu. It is so good! They have great local coffee, great service, and (obviously) delicious doughnuts! read more

Even after 20 minutes waiting for my drink, the barista had THE NERVE to announce "sorry folks - we're doing the best we can - thanks for your patience - we'll be right with you." The number of people waiting for their drinks to be made kept getting bigger and biggee - the waiting area filled up. And it stilllllll took another 5-10 mins for me to get my drink. ANDDDD I actually had to go up to the barista to ask when my drink would be ready - she asked for my name, I told her, she checked and my drink was sitting on the counter with another batch of already made drinks! No "oops" "sorry" "my bad". Nothing. LAST TIME I WILL BE GOING TO THIS LOCATION. RIDICULOUS. AND ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE AGGRAVATION.

First thing I did was preorder my boxes.. yes boxes since we had a houseful of young adults. The parking lot was crazy with big trucks, delivery trucks and early risers trying to get in and out of the lot. Pickup was a breeze, donuts ready in their designated pickup spot. Now the challenge of escaping the lot. That was easy peasy because this was a 2 person effort! Donuts were so cute. Each hand crafted with super cute colors. They tasted so fresh and "sweet". Truly a team effort accomplished.

Cheese all stuck to paper they wrapped it in. I don't even know what the 'bacon' was. Dining in but everything was wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag but absolutely soaked in leaky melted butter all over everything. Didn't care for the fast food setting vibes. Others enjoyed their pastries but overall Just not for us & not worth the money spent.

There was a subtle amaretto flavoring, but a big cherry in my scoop had plenty of the amaretto flavoring. It was an interesting flavor that was satisfying. I also tried the brownie wave. I usually do not like brownie pieces in ice cream, but I did enjoy this one. Without the brownie pieces, it was just a light chocolate flavor. Will I go back? Yes.

Duck Donuts was the highlight of our beach house trip! We indulged in the "Bacon In The Sun," a glorious creation with maple icing, chopped bacon, and a salted caramel drizzle--sweet, savory, and utterly irresistible. We also enjoyed the classic Chocolate Glaze Donut, which was delicious especially when its warm. Each donut is made fresh to order, and even though we arrived around 7:30am and the place got busy, the line moved quickly. The service was top-notch, and watching the staff whip up our hot, fresh donuts was part of the fun. Poor customer service. "because of the shortage customers must buy bottle water even if they only need a cup of water". What's the shortage why are employees drinking water from a cup. We're from the North East, where Dunkin Donuts reigns, but this place tops them all. Warm, made-to-order donuts are hard to beat. My favorite was the maple glaze, bacon topping and salted caramel drizzle. Stop here at least once during your stay! read more
