I literally had to find a donut spot at the last minute when I found out that my favorite place would not be open on the day I expected them to be open and Duck Donuts came through. I had forgotten that this place even existed! I was in charge of doing a Developers Appreciation Week in lieu of Programmers Day being on a Saturday and the first day was Beach Day. I wanted to start the week off easy by having Hawaiian Coffee and gourmet donuts and only because the universe was on my side that day, Duck Donuts had "beach-themed" items: Sunrise, Bacon in the Sun, The Boardwalk, The Flip-Flop, The Beach, Pina Colada, etc. Thank goodness. I ordered a dozen plus 2, all "beach"- or "breakfast"-themed online from their website the day before and ultimately decided to pick them up. They're about 16 mins south of me and to have them delivered would have been $11. As much as I didn't want to tackle I-95 traffic I sucked it up and made the drive. They weren't busy when I got there which was around 8am so I was easily in and out of there. My coworkers loved the donuts. My personal favorite is the Blueberry Lemonade by far. While they are smaller they really pack a flavor punch. I definitely recommend them for your gourmet donut needs. read more

Nothing to quack about here. I was excited hearing that Duck Donuts finally opened. It is Jacksonville's very first location. I often wondered if it was just all hype and boy, was I wrong. Immediately, Duck Donuts became one of my very favorite donut shops. First, I just love the concept of how they make and prepare the donuts right in front of you. Then creating your own donut was another winner for me. You literally have unlimited combinations of toppings, drizzles, and coatings you can create from. Last, they are cake donuts, not the yeast type donuts I prefer the most BUT despite it all, I love it. The taste of these cake donuts reminds me of a yellow cake, which happens to be one of my favorite cakes. So I flash the "W"... because it's win, win, win for me. I've been waiting for this place to open for a long time and had a chance to stop by on their grand opening. The line was out the door and it was so cold outside but the suffering was worth the wait. Their concept of made to order donuts is fantastic! They also serve coffee, donut sundaes and milkshakes. They even offer donut catering called Donut Quackages. You place your order at the register. You can either create your own donut by selecting what frosting, topping and drizzle you choose or you can select from their custom menu. Once you place your order you can watch them make your donuts. Once done, they call your name and show you the donuts to make sure everything looks ok and cover the box up. As you can see from my photos I wouldn't just have one so I left with 18 different Donuts. At long last!!! As an avid lover of donuts I could not wait for this place to open!! Love the concept and the whole creation process. The decor and merchandise is super fun too. There is a fun, hip vibe to the place! Custom made donuts just how you want them!!! Wow!! Little pricey but hey!! You get what you pay for. The coffee drinks are hand crafted and all quite yummy. I ordered 2 dozen assorted. We got all sorts of delightful yumminess! I started munching right away. The donut with the chocolate glaze and peanuts was stupid good. Solid 10 stars. All the key like donuts are amazing as well. I gave 4 stars because you really have to eat these babies while they are warm to fully enjoy them. Donuts not all that - same base (kinda blah) doughnut, with different dips - tried the blueberry and key lime - tasted the same - sugar frosting dip with purple and green flavor. No Boston creme (or any filled) option. I don't have kids, but if you do, I think your kids might like the sugar high and what looks like a free squeaky duck....but for me I'll stick to Dunkin' for my coffee and Parlor or even Gate for my donuts. read more

One of the best donuts I've ever had. Was here with my significant ever early in the morning and boy did it brighten up our day. We ordered the maple bacon donut, the blueberry cake (I believe it was this one, might have the name wrong), and a latte. You can watch them prepare and make your donut on the right side of the store right in front of you. It only took a couple minutes and you have a fresh donut with all your toppings. It was so warm and fresh, it would've been great even if it was plain! They have tons of options to choose from too which is nice. The manager (or owner) was also nice enough to prepare the drink then walk it over to our table! Could not recommend this place more-great food and really friendly workers! I loved my trip to duck donuts! It was the perfect treat that I needed. When I received my donuts the box was nice and warm like a fresh donut should be. The chocolate icing with sprinkles paired so well with the hot donut. When I got to my car I couldn't wait to take a bite. And boy was I treated when I did. As I bit into it the donut had a beautiful crunch to it that made your mouth water even more. I thought going in it would be more like Dunkin' Donuts where they just thaw out the donuts and put them in a case; boy was I wrong. All the Duck Donuts are made fresh and hot! And oooooh soooo good! Wow, these doughnuts were amazing!! I didn't know what to expect, I had seen some pics and knew people were waiting in line for like 2 hrs to get these doughnuts, so I knew I wanted to try them! Walking in there was no line only a few online orders ahead of us, we placed our order and went ahead and got a dozen ( about $18) thinking they were smaller, but I was surprised these were like standard sized! We watched as the doughnuts go from dough to floating down the oil bath, then snatched up for decorating! They hand decorated each one, and I could definitely see this being time consuming if they were busy! But once we finally got to sink our teeth into them.....oh yummy! The actual doughnut was a little bit crispy on the exterior but soft and fluffy interior! Very good, it kinda reminded me a little bit of a funnel cake...with all the assorted toppings it added the sweetness and we really enjoyed these especially while driving home and freshly warm! The staff were kind, quick, & patient in answering any question I may have had. I got the Cinnamon Bun doughnut and it was light and sweet. Well worth the wait for the opening and also worth the wait in line to get fresh cooked, fresh topped, custom doughnuts. We went on Monday, thinking the crowds were not going to be there, but the line was still out the door. Have patience, these doughnuts are made to order and thereby the freshest you will get in town. Initially we were a little sad to see the doughnuts are cake not raised since that is usually our preference. However we were converted and in love with the first bite. While these goodies are cake-like doughnut they are still super light and fluffy and cooked perfectly right before they are topped with whatever you like. Melt in your mouth yumminess. We tried to save some for later, but ended up consuming the half dozen in one sitting, while they were still hot. You can get ever single doughnut custom made with a glaze, drizzle, and topping. While they are good enough to eat plain, we had to try a few assortments. Difficult to pick a favorite since they are all so good, but my personal favorite was chocolate dipped, peanut topped, and drizzled with salted caramel. The menu includes coffees, milkshakes, and doughnut sundaes, but that just seems to be a little over the top even for our sweetest tooth days.
