Cute place. They have a screen that scrolled through all the dishes. I wanted one of everything. The service could be a little better. We had to ask for refills on the iced tea, twice. After getting the check, it was a long time before she came back to get our payment. Now on to the food. They are known for their waffles. I do like the waffles. Light and airy. I thought this place was a pretty interesting option as it was a little different from the styles of eating establishments that we normally frequent. It was a good choice for us in this case because we were staying at the Even Hotel in Rockville. This restaurant was in the extensive commercial plaza adjacent to the hotel. Hence, it was a 2- or 3-minute walk out of the hotel entrance. While not readily obvious from Rockville Pike, it was easy for us to find. This place has French styling with respect to their menu offerings. They identify more specifically as French Fusion. The restaurant interior presented similar to that of a nicer American Bar/Restaurant (something like the Cheesecake Factory, for example, but not as massive). While the seating capacity was plentiful, it was fairly quiet on the Monday evening when we visited. Hence, there was no problem getting seated. Our server, Oliver, tended to us right away and did a good job taking care of us the entire time we were there. We had no complaints at all about the quality of the service and the timeliness of the food delivery. The menu featured several interesting options. My wife chose the Tartine Caprese Pesto dish. This included Mozzarella and Sliced Tomato on Toast covered with Pesto with a salad on the side. She was quite happy with this selection. I tried the Parisian Mushroom and Brie Omelet which also came with a Salad and a Waffle on the side as the bread. It was very tasty and quite filling. I should also mention that the complimentary French Bread with which we started was a nice touch. My wife had the Inconditionnel, which was a concoction with rum mixed with chocolate and hazelnut liqueurs and Orange Juice. I had a taste and thought it was pretty good. I tried the Sangria Rojo and was happy with that. The value was relatively reasonable for the type of place it was. With food, drink, tax and tip, our bill came to about $68. At $34 each, this seemed commensurate with the experience. If you fancy this sort of food, this is a good choice for a nice dinner in Rockville, a place full of restaurant choices. I wavered between a 3- and 4-star rating, but ended up with a four-star rating as they did quite a few things right. read more

We always enjoy going to Mosaic. Our server was very nice and attentive. I ordered the chicken salad on the waffle. It was so flavorful and it has grapes and nuts in it. I always like deconstructing it and eating the waffle with syrup as a dessert. The onion soup is very good. its broth is a little rich. My second time at Mosaic was so much better than the first. I had a fantastic time visiting on Bastille weekend. The restaurant was incredibly cute inside and decorated in French decorations. I absolutely loved our waiter (wished I remembered his name) - he was so nice and helpful. The food was phenomenal - sweet potato fries were crispy and sweet, and the waiter gave us chipotle ranch to accompany it at his suggestion which was awesome. He also accommodated my request for simple syrup for my iced coffee which was delicious and beautifully presented. they had oat milk too. These scrambled eggs blew me away - tasted so rich and yolky, unlike scrambled eggs I've ever had before. The french toast waffle was SO good - crispy and sweet. The owners are phenomenal - they open up early for a group called Montgomery Women on the first Friday of every month and serve a prefix menu which is delicious including coffee/tea, a breakfast, and two beignets!!! Three of us went for brunch to check out what intrigued us from prior reviews. Unfortunately I feel we have mixed results especially when we each tried 3 different items. Service as soon as we walked in the door was great from the host who was gracious with personality plus. We received water right away and our waitress soon appeared & took drink orders. She gave us plenty of time to chat and look over the menu since we all had hard time deciding. Hubby ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon & waffles which he seemed to enjoy and ate everything on the plate. But later he mentioned that the texture of the eggs seemed different. I asked if he thought they were powdered & he thought maybe. Our friend ordered the salmon waffle sandwich. It was 3 squares with a potato hash patty. She ate only 1 of the squares, said it was good, but that the waffle was too hard, like it sat under food warmer too long. I decided to order the giant chicken waffle sandwich. It was definitely large, wasn't easiest thing to eat. I think my expectations for this sandwich was more than the result. Presentation was impressive, but flavor was lacking and I experienced the same hard waffle which didn't make eating the sandwich enjoyable with hard crunchy "bread". Restaurant has 2 unisex bathrooms that were fairly clean. Service by our waitress could have been more attentive as we did not see her after we were served and drink refills would have been appreciated. The wife chose this for a brunch during our weeklong stay in Bethesda. The menu is extensive - making a decision is not easy! Ambiance was a miss for me. Upon walking in, the booth upholstery needed some maintenance. The humidity offered little respite from the heat wave despite being a late morning visit. For bites, I had the Duck Waffle. It was not as well executed as I wanted. The waffle was soggy and did not hold up as a sandwich. The flavor of the duck lacked depth. That's to say it was fine - not spectacular. Second time I've been to Mosaic Cuisine for my birthday and both very good experiences! My aunt and I were the first at the restaurant (they open around 10 AM). You can choose between breakfast or lunch options. We've enjoyed their salads (you can add protein and would recommend salmon) and I've also ordered their mosaic breakfast. Our waiter was sweet, and very attentive. He came to our table to refill water quite regularly and also brought me a surprise birthday plate of strawberry waffles. It's a nice but casual restaurant. My soup and the French onion soup came with a small waffle piece. I shared the Giant (they're not kidding) Panko Waffle Chicken Sandwich with my husband. I made a takeout order via uber eats and got the waffle French toast $15.50, steamed Peking duck rolls $15, and the giant panko fried chicken waffle sandwich $20. Although it was a takeout order, the little experience of service was still solid as they made sure that I was all good to go. - The duck rolls were my favorite of the 3 items I had as they were good. They come with 12 rolls and a teriyaki sauce (they're better without the sauce). - The waffle French toast was very underwhelming. They had to have been undercooked as they were wet, soggy, and overly eggy. - The fried chicken waffle sandwich was my most anticipated item and it was also the biggest disappointment. I went here for brunch with a friend. When you walk in, it has a nice casual aesthetic that doesn't look like it's trying too hard to be cool. Right off the bat, the first problem is the layout of the menu. It has two sides to it, but it's like it doesn't know what it wants to be on either side. If one side is drinks, then it should all be drinks. If one side is food, then it should all be food. It would make it less confusing for the customer to have a more streamlined layout. The second problem is that we got two different menus. My friend got a menu that had taquitos listed and I got one that had other dishes listed that my friend didn't have, but I didn't have taquitos listed. I'm not sure if there was a mix up in seasons or if they had updated their menus recently, but the restaurant should try to stay organized about things like this. I ordered the L'amour Toujours as their drink and it was very good!! As an appetizer My friend and I both shared the crab cheddar quesadillas. They tasted good but the way they were made seemed so amateurish. Quesadillas are supposed to be golden brown and structurally sound. These ones had inconsistent cooking on the tortilla and were on the verge of falling apart. The appetizer had also taken a while to the point where once we got it, the entree had come when we were just about done with it. We both ordered the mosaic omelette as our entree and it wasn't anything special. The omelette wasn't fluffy and yellow, it looked more like a cluster of stuff with another look of inconsistent cooking. The waffle that came with it had a really nice texture (crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside), but I've definitely had way better in terms of taste. It was nothing special. It came with some kind of hash as well and that wasn't very memorable, it didn't taste like they seasoned it. The service wasn't bad but then several minutes after we got the check, we were asked to hurry up and pay. Completely uncalled for and unprofessional. We paid money to eat here, we don't owe you anything else. This place is overrated, I don't plan on coming back. I hope the bartender finds a place more deserving of their skills. read more

Another delightful Sunday lunch at Mosaic Cuisine. Absolutely recommend it. My "goat cheese soufflé madeleine" and roasted vegetables salad was delicious. My absolute favorite is the Mushroom Potage- it is the most velvety and umami thing I've tasted in my life. Not to oversell it- but if I could bathe in this stuff I could die happy. Came today after church and ordered the peeking duck sandwich with an OJ and the wife got the quiche Lorraine with a Cappuccino. Food came out, despite it being incredibly loud here... I noticed I got the chicken piccata instead. Not complaining as I had this as a second choice and figured it'd still be good. Man was I wrong, 1st slice of the three sliced sandwich and the waffle is sooo salty. Fries feel like they've been cooked with seafood plus lots of salt. My wife's quiche was crustless.. also salty. Even the side waffle had tons of salt in it. Hash browns? Salty. The OJ and the Cappuccino were the only things we actually finished. Oh, and sitting us down as well as bringing the check was pretty fast. It's just disappointing knowing that the check indeed had the Peking duck sandwich on it (I'm not going to correct it, nor did the server notice it. I was starving). Overall food total was about $48 after tax and around $55+ with tip. In conclusion, not sure if my taste has changed, or if this place just got worse over time. The line is almost out the door to sit here, they made a nice outside space. But the food is not up to par and I won't be back anytime soon. I came here for happy hour on a Tuesday on a whim and omg what a gem!! They have a happy hour from Monday to Friday 3-6pm with really reasonably priced food and drink. We got a couple drinks and several food items and were pleasantly surprised with how much high quality food we had for under $50 including 3 drinks. The interior is more upscale and fancy than I expected especially considering the good deals. It was pretty empty and we were able to get seated right away. I had a Moscow mule and my husband had an old fashioned and we were both impressed with how well made our drinks were for only $6 each. The old fashioned is really high quality. We ordered the arancini and we're surprised how large of a portion we got for just $7. There was 5 total and they tasted fresh. The crab cheddar quesadillas were the highlight featuring fresh crab and this amazing creamy jalapeño aoli for dipping. It tasted incredible! I debated about leaving 3 stars because my feedback can be easily addressed - but I want someone to pay attention. Let me say that the staff did an absolutely wonderful job accommodating a large party with short notice. My sister was married over the weekend so we had some family that traveled in town that wanted to go to brunch. I made a brunch resy for 20 people at 7:30p the night prior. They happily booked us. We show up at-least 15 min early the next day with a smaller party (13) and the place is packed! The manager/head host was very communicative about our wait, table, cleaning, etc. it seemed like a long while but with us being early - we were sat maybe 10 min after our scheduled reservation. Then came the ordering - our server Arman was really nice albeit a little in the weeds. Even though we didn't have 20 people, we weren't sure why they gave a large party to 1 person especially when brunch was booming. Arman takes our orders once - then 30 min later we were informed the iPad died so the food did not go through. While understandable - the series of events that followed made it less so. We order again, then it turns into chaos. The orders came out with no organization or knowledge of who ordered what. The sides (bacon, eggs, potato hash) come out first - before any drinks or apps. This ended up getting mixed up. We ordered mimosas & Jamaican coffee (that took another 10-15 min to come after our meals). We realized that our server was also the bartender. One mimosa was incorrect as it was supposed to be a Bellini with pineapple. My sister ordered an orange juice - which took her an hour to receive after 3x of asking. The waffles were more like chips with how light and crispy they were - not flavorful at all with barely any dough. Some family ordered the chocolate drizzle with whip cream - it showed up with either no chocolate or no whip. Egg Benedict is usually a poached egg, mine was runny all the way through. I ordered a French onion soup to start and that also came after a reminder and when I was almost finished with my meal. Needless to say the food itself was 3.5/5 - the waffles lost the 1.5 but the service was as good as it was going to get at that point. We joked around with our server to let him know to take his time and that we weren't stressing, but certain things were getting ridiculous (like the orange juice). He did his best working solo but I would implore his manager to not put their staff in any high stress situations like that without backup. We're a lively bunch and easy going (until we're not). Overall we questioned the menu and the experience a lot. In France people dont even dress like the waiters here. They try to create an authentic France vibe that France doesnt even do themselves. Next the food is questionable as well but we like to test the odd things. In a restaurant that is trying to push France vibes sold pekking duck, chicken and waffles, quesadillas and many other items that doesnt classify as French. I would definitely rename the restaurant as French fusion instead. However, we like to try the odd balls and to say the least they were decent. The pekking duck waffle was delicious and packed with meat. The bleu cheese quesadilla was too oily and lacked cheese, definitely dont recommend. If they fixed those issues I would definitely get it otherwise it's a pass. Service could be better as well. That's why im putting it at 4/5 stars.
