On National Donut Day I wanted to treat my students, my co-teacher, and myself to donuts but couldn't get to the store so I ordered delivery online. Received all the updates throughout the process, which was great. The DoorDasher followed all instructions as indicated. I stood in a line to order my donut, but then when I got near the counter, the staff informed me there was a separate line for national donut day, which was an unmarked table off to the side. Staff is pretty good at this location although had some issues with the app and getting the deals, and the staff wasn't always the most knowledgeable about this. One time in March 2019, I had a St. Patty's day deal like a BOGO, which I had brought to movie theater for a woman I liked, who later became a girlfriend. In February 2024, I brought my new at that time & still current girlfriend (going strong) here for another deal. Been here a few other times. I do wish there was a Krispy Kreme near where I live now. 11.16.23 I recently tried to redeem a half dozen glazed donuts for my birthday. I pulled out the app and was informed that the reward was not loaded. I found the email that was sent to show them the coupon, but they would not honor it. They said I had to contact the corporate office. I told my friend and she said that they should have done that for me. On top of that, the morning I came in there was another customer who was being helped before me. I saw other staff working the drive thru and conveyor belt, but no one acknowledged me. This is my favorite place for donuts---I've been here many times, always using the very convenient drive-through. Prices have increased over the past year so now I only buy half a dozen at a time...I'd recommend the chocolate iced cream filled and glazed. If the neon sign is lit above the menu board that means fresh donuts are available and those are the absolute best. Service is usually very efficient and friendly but sometimes you have to ask for napkins or a receipt (if you want one). Employee Apathy, Sloppy Donuts, and Questionable Cleanliness. Corporate Krispy Kreme should be very, very concerned about this store because it is causing considerable harm to the brand. The shear, palpable apathy among the workers was inescapable. I stood in line at the front counter along with 4 other customers and we were completely ignored. One poor employee was running back and forth to fill drive through orders but the three employees making donuts wouldn't even look at us (one of whom was the manager- inexplicable). We finally had to call out to them and practically beg them to come and take our orders. I've never seen such pure apathy for customers. Then, the donuts were something else. The employees must have either had no training or they simply didn't have any pride in their work, because the donuts were the sloppiest made Krispy Kreme donuts I've seen in 20 years- messed up frosting, inconsistent toppings, upside down, etc. and some were even cold- cold! Now, why would a donut be cold? The only explanation is that they were refrigerated overnight to preserve them. In other words, they were using DAY OLD donuts. And, add on top of the employee/managerial apathy and sloppy donuts a quite dirty interior and exterior. I wasn't even sure the store was open because it was so dark inside, dirty floors, carts of donuts and equipment all over the place...honestly, I'm not even sure how they are complying with Maryland health codes. I haven't gone on a donut run in forever and I'm so glad I did on Saturday night. We used to live not far from there and it was our favorite place to go. The cashier was very friendly and it made us so happy. Virtually no wait time, donuts were fresh, and I had no complaints. I appreciated the hand sanitizer placed right near the entrances as well. I'd visited the Tatte in Bethesda last winter and thoroughly enjoyed a breakfast with my girlfriends. So when I had an out of town friend and a day of sight seeing, this looked like a delicious option for a pick me up. My friend got a latte and brownie. I got a nitro coffee and a chocolate mousse. The mousse was rich and smooth, just as i expected. It also had a thin, brownie type bottom and a thin chocolate ganache on top. I placed my online order at 6:45A to pick up at my local store. Due to Nat'l Donut Day remote orders were not available for pick up at the drive-thru (annoying but understandable). The problem that arose was after entering the store to find that none of the online orders had been prepared and Noone was manning the online counter so the online orders pick up line was about 20 people deep. W hat should have taken 15 minutes tops turned into a 45-minute wait (for a for a small iced coffee). When I finally got my beverage at 7:30 AM I was told they could not make my order because the expresso machine was broken. When asked if I could get a refund or credit, the managersaid "Its just a dollar". I reiterated that I needed my money back for the expresso shot that Krispy Kreme charged for but did not have available. The manager helping me then walked away without saying anything and disappeared in the back. After about 10 minutes, I was not sure what was going on so I waited until the other manager (pictured below) ion the floor was in between customers to wave and get his attention. Instead of coming over to see what I needed he yelled that "he could not help me because he was busy". He then said he was "not answering any questions". For a second I thought someone was plunking me because the whole encounter was so bizarre and surreal. The first manager was M.I.A. and the second manager had just declined to come over and me. I don't know which was more upsetting - the fact that he refused to help me without knowing what I needed or that he literally yelled it within earshot of everyone. It turned out the first manager had gone in the back issuing a refund for the expresso shot, but had not communicatd this to me before just walking away. To add insult to injury, when I asked for my free donut to go with my drink - the manager replied, no. I was so over this situation and was running late for work after being at Krispy Kreme for so long that I just left. I decided that later write a review on the company's site documening my experience. In the past, associates at the Gaithersburg/Rockville, Maryland location have been professional, accommodating and very friendly. This new management and crew has no clue about customer service and lacks basic organization, communication, and common sense skills. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only frustrated customer targeted as another customer had ordered 12 dozen donuts but only received 11 dozen. He simply asked the manager for his last box and was rudely told "You got every box you ordered". When the customer presented his bags for the manager to recoun, the manager said he was busy and didn't have time to count the boxes. At the customer's insistence, the manager gave him the missing dozen. No apology was offered. I love Krispy Kreme but if this is an example of what to expect from now on, I will be giving my future business to Dunkin' Donuts.
