The Tarheel Pizza is outstanding. Truly delicious. Delivery is very quick, so that's another plus. Avoid the sandwiches. The NC BBQ is a fraud. It was basically roasted pork and cheese on a sandwich. It had ZERO flavor. We're in NC and the BBQ bar is high. I expected much better, My husband couldn't finish his steak and cheese because it was way too salty. We ordered 2 cold sandwiches and 2 hot, and waited 30 minutes at our table for them to come up. Others in the restaurant who came in after us also had a horrendous wait and we're complaining to/commiserating with our party about it. Had the fortunate opportunity to enjoy a large Spinach Grande with my relatives during a much-anticipated visit to Duck last week. Upon a late Saturday arrival, I tried to order pizzas for a party of 15 at 9pm, but they were unfortunately closed (I think there's a huge market in late-night dining that is virtually, untapped in Duck!). Fast-forward 2 days later while I was shopping in Scarborough Faire with same relatives, my 1yo nephew was on the verge of a minor meltdown, so we decided to sit down, give him a break and grab a quick bite while we were at it. The venue itself is sparse, but functional (we quite liked the pizza pedestals on each table) . The counter staff was helpful in ordering, suggesting a large-size for our group of 4. We ordered the Spinach Grande WITH bacon (a must!) and the 10min wait was well worth it. The bacon was plentiful, the crust not too thin or thick and the spinach and tomatoes were abundant and fresh. What I liked just as much, was how sweet the staff were to my nephew. Despite his crankiness, he ate a half a slice, and the staff were genuinely engaging and did their best to entertain him, and they didn't mind his fussiness. I like supporting small businesses with a good product and I hope to visit Duck Pizza during our next OBX vacay! I also like that they offer free delivery to those in the area. Order never came. Called repeatedly and received voicemail saying the mailbox was full. Then someone continually answered and hung up the phone. When someone finally answered, they placed us on hold and then disconnected the line. We were never able to get thru to anyone. Wouldn't touch their pizza with a ten foot pole. Absolute crap! Tried many times to call to order and they never picked up the phone. Got a message saying "this voice mail is full". I ordered online and pizza arrived 1:25 hours later. While waiting I was worried and tried to call about 3-4 times and still no answer. My kids fell asleep waiting for it! When it arrived i got a half-hearted apology and a shit pizza. Half-baked and still raw on the inside. No crispy crust at all. Tasted ok but the consistency was soft a doughy. Not good. I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially after a long day at the beach when everyone is hungry and tired. I wanted to like this pizza but...I just couldn't. The crust was like play dough despite being very thin. I'm not sure if mine was just undercooked or if all the pizza is just like biting into semi cooked dough. The sauce is tangy, but a bit too acidic tasting. The service is fine. This quick service pizza shop hit the mark for our family of five. We were waiting in line at one of the other pizza shops is town for an hour plus before we decided to try duck pizza. If I could give negative stars I would. We ordered the pizza around 7pm and were told it would be about an hour. Two hours later we had not received our pizza so we called and they told us that they were no longer accepting orders. After much hassle and the delivery woman going to the wrong house twice (and even calling to say she was out front when she wasn't) we finally got our pizza after my cousin RAN DOWN THE ROAD to get the pizza from the woman who was down the street. We ordered it at exactly 6:53 and got our pizza at 9:30 after they'd already closed. Keep in mind that our house was maybe a block from the pizza place. We could've hit their restaurant with a rock. And after all this the pizza was cold and once it was warmed back up, just decent. It was a horrible experience and I do not recommend going here. Looks like we'll have to find a different place to get pizza while we're here. read more

I wish as the owner of this restaurant that more of the 999 out of a thousand customers we serve that are happy, repeat guests and enjoy our food immensely had the time to write in about their experiences. As I read these reviews from people who say our decor is stark, our service isn't what they expected, our wings are terrible and I often ask myself, where did this person eat? We stream island music and the stream is not looped by the way, the colors are bright and cheery and we are constantly told by our customers we have the best pizza they have EVER HAD, our authentic Philly cheesesteaks have received compliments like "best I've had in my life". The one out of 1000 customers that we couldn't possibly satisfy no matter how good we are are certainly entitled to their opinion, however I would encourage them to at least understand there are many folks who are in line ahead of and behind them that really love our food and service. Wait times can be long in the Summer, Duck goes from a little over 500 people to many thousands, and all of those thousands of people need to eat. We do our best to service every customer. Just a note to our happy repeat customers, nothing has changed, we're still the best we can be for all of you. I had to write a review to let other people know about my experience with Duck Pizza. My large family and I were vacationing in Duck and thought we would order out on our last night there. I called Duck Pizza only to receive the WORST customer service ever. The young sounding female was extremely rude in reply to any question that I asked (none of which were out of the ordinary). I decided to end the order and tell her that due to her rudeness, Duck Pizza would not receive my business. Thereafter, I called Pizzazz Pizza and the owner told me that I was the fourth person to call them after hanging up on Duck Pizza thanks to their rude employee. Better for Pizzazz Pizza which by the way was fabulous! Do not order from Duck Pizza! And by the sounds of the rest of these reviews, their food stinks. As a heads-up, this is a review based on the current atmosphere/owner/etc. I've been eating at this restaurant for four years, and am a local. The owners used to be hands-down some of the most genuine people I'd had the pleasure of talking to and spending my money with to support. They had regulars that they would always take the time to talk to (as long as summer rush wasn't in effect and the floor absolutely crowded) and whose orders they had memorized. They worked the kitchen and counter every single day and really got to know both their customers and employees. Dough made fresh every morning, which is really quite a feat in the summer around here. I'm sad to say that the friendly local atmosphere and decor has gone. The new owner - who I believe took over last summer? - has turned the interior entirely too tacky for my taste. The times I came in last year and saw him greeting customers seemingly at random, he came off less genuine than I would have liked, and very naive as to the local scene. I took a look at this season's new menu, and I'm pretty shocked. More than a handful of the specialty pizzas have disappeared (including my personal favorite, the Tarheel BBQ), and there are items on the menu that I can already tell won't sell well. Overall, the new owner seems to be taking things in the wrong direction. Turning your establishment into a tacky Jimmy Buffet themed dive and removing old favorites is a quick way to turn off diners, especially if those diners are longtime patrons and you're trying to build a reputation off the hard work of the people who established the business. It's also quite the turn-off for the phrase "ducked up" to be used as frequently as it is in relation to a business in the middle of the most family-friendly town in Dare County's tourism industry. Bob's Diner "Eat And Get The Hell Out" works because it's in KDH, which is less family-PG-oriented. "Ducked Up" as a pun for F*cked Up is just entirely tasteless. There was no faster way for me to sadly skip my old favorite during my lunch hour, than to have my favorite, usual pizza removed from the menu and to see the complete tacky change in the windows. My husband, son and I ate here yesterday and I felt that I needed to write a review to warn others. I NEVER write reviews but felt inclined to do so today. I am a foodie in a sense that I actually am a sales rep for a major food distributor, but I tend to be very basic in my palate but am picky. We ordered my son chicken tenders with French fries. $8. When it arrived it was 2 small tenders that were a chopped and formed meat and was a chicken tender fritter meaning it had more than 33% beading on it. I tried one small bit and didn't make my son eat another bite due to the horrible quality and taste. I estimate these cost MAYBE $0.35 a tender. Then the French fries might have been good had they actually had a fryer to fry them in. They came out almost white and you could tell they were baked and severely undercooked. Total plate cost was definitely WELL under $1.00. I cannot imagine how they get away with charging $8 with a portion cost that low and serving that small of a portion size. Pizza was fair. Nothing to write home about. Sauce was good, could have had a little bit more cheese for my liking. My husband and I split the small pizza with 2 medium drinks for $12.99. The slices were maybe 3-3 1/2 inches long. Just not as big as I was thinking it would be. Again with my background the dough was a presheeted crust. Not homemade or even a dough ball. I will not visit this establishment again and do not recommend it. If anything this has made me want to be a better sales consultant for my customers and help them point out things they may not see that a customer does. Sadly though I am afraid that this customer may not have that relationship with their food rep if they are selling the crap that they served me and my family today. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and waited for 45 minutes. After we waited that long we called to see where the pizza was and they said it hadn't been made yet. They said it would be to our house in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later we called back and the person informed us they couldn't deliver to our location but we could come pick it up. We told them to forget it because that was ridiculous. 25 minutes later as we were leaving to get food the delivery driver showed up and tried to give us be pizza we cancelled. The pizza wasn't great and the service was terrible. We placed an order for delivery online, paid, received confirmation and then waited. After 20 mins past expected delivery we attempted to call, sent Facebook message, call and call some more. Their phones didn't work, so we drive down there to see what's going on. We were told that the online orders were unreliable and their phones were out. But she went to check on my order status. Says it's not ready and it's 3 in line to be made. We said forget it cancel and refund our money. She can't do that. Goes to get manager. He comes out starts to cancel it then says wait, I just finished this order. Do you still want it? You can imagine my face when he says this. Girl just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. So I tipped a delivery driver when I had to go get my own food that would have been thrown away had he not came out. Once we got it home, the Stromboli wasn't cooked all the way through, the pep was a little over done but the meat and veggie were pretty good. I know they were busy and the phone not working isn't necessarily their fault, but they need to do something with their ordering/phone system and train their staff to actually go check with the cooks on an order status! Very few options for delivery but save yourself the hassle and just to pick up from somewhere else! read more

To start this off, I downloaded Yelp just so I could write this review. I had an awful experience at Duck Pizza, for so many reasons. 1) The customer service was terrible. When we walked in (my girlfriend and I), all employees were on their phones and rolled their eyes when they saw us. 2) Food was disgusting. We ordered a basket of chicken tenders and fries and a chicken philly. The chicken tenders tasted like frozen, microwaved tenders and the fries were soggy and tasteless. The philly consisted of dry bread, bland chicken, melted American cheese, and a little bit of pepper on top. The price for this meal was around $25. Huge waste of money and time (as the food took around 30 minutes to be served). I do not recommend coming here ever. read more

Cannot state strongly enough how disappointed we were. We ordered delivery. They said 40 minutes. We called back and they said was being boxed as we spoke. FIFTY minutes later, no pizza. Called back, employees said on its way, we said is it fresh? Do not want a pie that has been sitting around and cold. She said do we want to talk to manager, we said yes. She came back and said manager too busy to speak with us. Finally, an hour late from original delivery time (1:40 overall from original order), it arrived. Cold. Darn... Really disappointed in the pizza and the customer service... We planned to "eat in" and when we arrived all the tables were pushed up against the wall, the girl suggested we sit outside The girl behind the counter kept yawning while entering our order and acted very annoyed by our presence. We ordered a large pick 5 topping pie with green pepper, mushroom, onion, sausage and pepperoni. We also ordered 3 fountain drinks, the machine was messed up and kept spritz ing out streams of syrup and not seltzer, the 2 girls behind the counter just sat there looking at their phones . So we went outside and sat down thinking she'd bring our pizza out to us. After about 15 minutes we realized she was not bringing it out. I walked in for it and a different girl gave us the pie ... It was just ok, the toppings were good, fresh mushrooms not canned and fresh peppers and onion! So here is the funny thing after we were done I went in for a refill on my soda the original girl said to me "did you get your food?!?" Like 25-30 minutes she just realized we were waiting on food. On 7/28/16, around 5 pm, we placed an order for delivery at Duck Pizza, we enjoyed 2 delicious subs and, a pizza that were fresh and made with quality ingredients!!! The young man that delivered the food (which was 10 minutes early!) was friendly, we always appreciate that and tipped him, what I feel was generous, my husband said he seemed happy!!!! My problem was, the young lady that answered the phone, she was not only rude to me when I asked her a simple question but, laughed at my husband when he gave her his name. I'm not sure if it was lack of maturity or, simple ignorance!! This gives your business a terrible first impression, I believe people may have second thoughts about calling back.... Please, for all us tourists train your staff on phone etiquette, getting food orders correctly and, the importance of simple kindness or, maybe just stress maturity.... Just my opinion.... My grandfather is severely allergic to tomatoes, and as he was explaining this to the woman taking the order at the counter, the woman immediately threw her arms up and very rudely cut my grandfather off, saying that she would not accommodate. I've worked in food service for a long time and you're ALWAYS supposed to take allergies very seriously. Because they would not assure us that there would be no cross contamination, my grandfather was not able to eat with us. She was rude and ignorant the entire time, service was slow, and the food was average, nothing special at all. They don't deserve even one star. Spent $70 tipped the driver $10 and when I called to complain about the 4 orders of overpriced chicken not being fully cooked I was immediately treated with disrespect and suspicion because I "waited an hour to call". Not all of our party was home when it was delivered (two were lost trying to get back from the store for a few things we forgot to pack). So in the confusion of trying to help them find there way back calling to complain wasn't the immediate concern. Instead of an apology I was treated as though I was making it all up. My mother graduated magna cum laude from culinary school and I was a food safety certified food and beverage manager at a golf resort, so Im fairly sure we just might have a vague understanding of whether or not chicken is undercooked. My father and brother were so hungry after a 9 hour drive that they ate some of theirs anyway, so I only asked for a refund for the two uneaten orders. I was denied the refund and criticized for the way I treated the manager. Im not sure what kind of reaction he expected after denying the chicken was undercooked and asking "why would you wait an hour to call though?" We actually didn't speak until the next day because when I called at 8:15 they were closed. He refused to even give the owners name when I asked if I may speak with them. I left my number for the owner, never received a call back, found the email address online and sent an email, no response.
