Sourdough bread bowl with white chowder

This was our first time trying Duckies and we are fans!!! Portions are generous, food delicious, and prices are reasonable. We will be back.

While staying in Morro Bay we took a trip to Cayucos Pier and stopped here for dinner. We ordered a hamburger with jack cheese, shrimp louie salad, and manhattan chowder in a bowl. Cute casual order and sit spot. You have your choice of inside or outside where there is stool sitting outside. The person who took our order was friendly and provided us with suggestions. The Shrimp Louie salad was delicious, with juicy shrimp cook perfectly. I even shared half of it with my husband. The hamburger with cheese was juicy, with fresh lettuce, onion, tomato, and a spear of pickle on the side for you to decide what you wanted in your burger. My son said it was delicious. The manhattan bread bowl....hearty and thick, however way too salty for my taste. That would be a pass for me next time. Overall, it's right next to the pier, lots of seating, with a variety of food options for the family.

Was not prepared for the sizable taco!! LOL great food, fast service, perfect location by the pier!

Crab sandwich with avocado and cheddar served with pickle

Bustling place with obviously hard-working staff. There was a line and every seat was taken. That's a good sign. I ordered the crab sandwich with avocado and cheddar cheese on sourdough bread and took it to go. The sandwich was good. I've had better crab sandwiches, but they were at crab shacks with fresh crab. I don't think this crab was that fresh but rather from a supplier. The sourdough bread was very good and the cheddar cheese was fine. I would order something different If I went back... I think I would try the fish and chips or the shrimp bowl.

Worth visiting for the amazing clam chowder. I had the bread bowl it was delicious. Also had the grilled fish tacos they were mid. Would return for the chowder but would try a different main course. Chowder 5/5 Tacos 3/5.

It's a bit of a small place with cramped seating and hard benches or stools. The red chowder is more like a minestrone substitute clams for pasta. Now on to all the good stuff...food was served fast, order taker was efficient, fish and chips are top notch. The white chowder is very good, not the best, but you won't be disappointed. Folks worked hard to keep the lines turning over and the seats ready for the next round. Got the combo...fish is great, oyster was meh, shrimp was over cooked and the calamari wasn't toasty. clams were just ok. Would get the fish and chips next time. Chicken strips appeared made in house. A worthy attempt. The garlic fries are huge! No need to order a side when you can just get garlic added to your order of seafood and chips. May be the best place in town! Enjoy it when you come back to the central coast.

Food is delicious. Service is high school and trained to clear clean and restock. Ambiance is local shanty hot spot.

We stopped for a snack after checking out the little town. It looked quite busy as the outside was quite busy. Actually, it was only outside as no one was dining inside when we arrived. People did start to utilize indoor after we sat down. It was nice out so everyone wanted to utilized the weather. It's a pretty decent size restaurant with some outdoor seating. Also, it's pet friendly hence we were outside. The menu does have a good selection of dishes. As we on the beach, we wanted seafood. Looking at what everyone ordered, it seemed to be the place for it. Plus they have beer. Ordering was quite easy. A couple beers to cool off which was poured right there so it wasn't a wait. We shared a bowl of their chowder. Comes in small, large or bread bowl. Also didn't take long to arrive and was nice and hot. Served with oyster crackers. First bits, it was really good. Nice chunks of potato and clams. Also shared the fish and chips. That was nice as well. Not sure what kind of dish it was but it was pretty flakey and thick potions. We've been to other places which we swear they brought out Van de camp fish. But here, it was quite tasty. Overall, nice place for food. Menu does have a good selection. Plenty of indoor dining which has an open feel with the open windows. A couple of outdoor seating and hi top seats that's look into the restaurant. They have beer which is great. And the place is literally at the start of the pier and seconds from the sand. Street parking is available.

I heard good things about this place so I stopped in after a quick beach day. The place is right off the Cayucos pier. They have some outdoor stool seating which is dog friendly. They have a lot of indoors seats too, not dog friendly. I ordered the clam chowder bread bowl, the fish n chips. The service was fast and the food was hot. The clam chowder was just ok, nothing special. The fish was cooked perfectly with good batter on the outside. I would recommend giving them a try.

We absolutely loved Duckie's Chowder House in Morro Bay! The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed, with a casual, order-at-the-counter style. The service was fast and efficient, and they bring the food right to your table, which makes it super easy and enjoyable. We went on a Monday at lunchtime, and there were plenty of seats both inside and outside. I can only imagine how busy it gets on weekends, because this is definitely the kind of place you want to keep coming back to -- great food in a laid-back setting. Now, the food... SO good. I started with Louise's salad with crab meat, which was fresh and delicious. But then I saw my husband's crab melt sandwich and immediately had to order one for myself -- and I'm so glad I did! It was generously loaded with crab, topped with avocado and melted cheese, and tasted incredibly fresh. Honestly, everything was so good that I guess I just wanted both the salad and the sandwich Highly recommend this spot if you're in Morro Bay -- especially if you love fresh crab!

Everything was delicious, from Manhattan Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes to Crab Melt Sandwich. The food was fresh while the portion was on point. The staff was friendly & helpful. We sat outside, but I could see that the indoor was clean and had a cool vibe. I'd love to return to this eatery.

    Rebecca J.

Staff was friendly and helped me decide between 2 choices. I loved what I settled on, which was a fresh fish bowl, blackened. A perfect lunch between a half day of remote work and getting ready for a wedding at the pier landing. I sat outside on the corner and enjoyed the view.

Is the fish breaded or thick batter? I prefer breaded

It's breaded to a crisp and thin perfection.

Can you order ahead for pick up to go?

You can call and place an order over the phone and get it when it's ready. You'll have to pay at the restaurant though.

They were really loud and basic. We found a table downstairs in the bar as far away from the band as possible. We couldn't even hear each other to talk- other groups were saying the same thing We ordered the calamari appetizer and then the fish and chips for my husband and the seared ahi with wasabi mashed potatoes for me. Everything came out all at once- and no one ever came to check on us. The fish and chips were good, my ahi was nice- but the potatoes were cold and it was covered in seaweed salad I had to pick off. Later I was trying to remember why I ordered the ahi over the halibut or the mahi mahi- looking at the menu it says the ahi has blue crab wasabi mashed potatoes- so that's why I ordered it. I had shared my meal with my hubby and so I asked him if he noticed/tasted any crab on the potatoes. Neither of us did- thinking they left it out. The calamari should have been the appetizer- but everything came all at once- I would rather have skipped them at that point. Hubby had to go up to the bar to get refills- he was gone a long time. When he came back he told me that they had him leave a credit card with them when he placed the order. We weren't drinking alcohol, so this didn't seem necessary. Had I known this, I would have suggested not even staying and finding a different restaurant. Well the bartender said he lost our credit card/ but would try to find it.... um, what!!!! They did finally find it about 20 minutes later. No apologies or anything other than dumping the check at the end of the table. So far, we haven't found any rando charges on our card from our dinner here... but watch your cards here We walked from our hotel- so we didn't have to deal with parking- but it would have been hard over the holiday weekend We did have a nice view of the beach- even better view from upstairs

On a quick day trip on a Friday afternoon, we decided to give this place a try. No reservation and were promptly greeted and seated. Although we did not have a full bay view, we had a partial bay view. Some hits and misses with food and service. 1. Bowl of Clam Chowder (no bread bowls available). Chowder was piping hot and had nice pieces of clams (dad got a bit of clam shell..so be careful), celery and potatoes. The chowder was very creamy and not grainy or watery like other locations. I would definitely order again 5/5 2. Fish & Chips: Fresh Pacific cod, lightly breaded, served with house-made tartar sauce. Fish was fried to perfection. 5/5 3. Seafood Pasta: Linguini with jumbo prawns, fresh catch, Cajun cream sauce, garlic bread. Everything tasted fresh and seasoned perfectly 5/5 4. Side of Garlic bread: extremely disappointing. We ordered garlic bread with our chowder, it never came. Waitress decided to serve it with the mains (fish and chips) and we ordered for the entire table and she only brought 2 pieces. 5. Insalata Molina: Mixed greens, arugula, pear, walnuts, crumbled blue cheese, mango vinaigrette. Couldn't tell you if this was any good bc the waitress NEVER brought but charged us for it. She then takes it off the bill and brings me the salad in a Styrofoam container. I told her I didn't want it and put it in my bag. Salad was so soggy (which means the kitchen prepared it and the waitress forgot to serve it) I would not order and do not recommend ordering it bc it was the size of a side salad definitely not worth the price point. 6. Mocktail Lavender lemonade: definitely not balanced, was pretty tart and again the price point was off. It was about 8oz lemonade for $12 They do offer a nice selection of wines. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant and are public restrooms, pretty dirty and out of stock. Although our service was a big miss, I do recommend the food items we ordered. I did take a star off due to the service.

There was also parking right in front, with no line, which was convenient. I wanted something fried, but when I saw that they use canola oil, I decided to go with the salmon tacos instead. Salmon isn't exactly a local fish, but it's usually a safe bet, especially when it's fresh frozen. I got the salmon tacos, which came as two tacos on two tortillas. The salmon was topped with a little cabbage and tomato, melted cheese, and what seemed to be some onion and cilantro. They also included a small serving of salsa. Overall, they were decent, but not the best salmon tacos I've had. One thing that was a little annoying was that some of the salmon had the dark "bloodline" still attached. I usually scrape that off because I find that part of the fish more bitter and strongly flavored. That's especially awkward with tacos because you're trying to remove it from pieces of fish that are already in the taco. I've had salmon tacos elsewhere where that part had been trimmed off, so there was nothing to deal with. No bones, though. The tacos were a little pricey at just over $20 with tax, but you're in a tourist area and it's California, so that wasn't exactly surprising. They made for a decent meal, and sitting outside was pleasant.

This cute food truck is located near the water along the Embarcadero. There is plenty of outdoor seating (but not much shade). The people who run the truck are super friendly and inviting. My experience here was really great and I can't wait for my next visit to Morro Bay.

One of the best lobster rolls I've had. They are efficient and honest with their order/wait time…read moresituation. So, they will pause taking orders to catch up - and personally, I prefer that vs. someone taking my order and feeling like I'm Waiting "too long". They have two lobster roll options (we went with the Maine). It was dressed perfectly, had great seasoning and was very a generous portion. We also tried the CA shrimp roll, which had similar dressing/seasoning and was just as tasty. They also have slaw or "flat fries" option, which we opted for and they were so good! There are some benches to sit at & enjoy, or you can walk to the pier and eat there. Very little shade, but there are public bathrooms right by the benches.
