VERY RACIST PLACE!!!! I ordered a medium well steak that is served with roasted potatoes and asparagus. The waiter brought the food out but forgot the asparagus which he said he would go back and get but NEVER came back. I then cut into the steak and it is well done. I eat steak all the time so I know the difference. I send my plate back to ask for a medium well steak. The waiter comes back and says she spoke to the chef, they checked the steak and know that it is medium well because it's juicy. I told her if I can't get another steak I don't want it. She asks me what can they do because they're not making another one so it will be put on my bill and I'll have to pay for it which I declined because I wasn't paying for something I did not eat. They held my plate in the back the whole time! She then starts threatening me with police, I tell her that's fine. I'll wait for them to get here. She then says, WAIT! You're not scared of police! I reply, No I am not. Is it because I am Africa American that you assume I am? She says yes, we're going to call them on you right now! I said no problem I'll be here waiting. A man then comes out standing next to my table harassing me to pay the bill. I see he was trying to intimidate me because he's a male. He then goes get the bill and add the steak meal on it demanding that I pay for it. I asked so where is the actual meal. It's been 30 mins of everyone going back and forth but my actual meal wasn't in-front of me. He then goes to the back and bring out the same plate demanding I eat it. I told him I am not eating or paying for it. I am waiting for the police to get here so they can see that I did not touch this food and am not paying for something I did not eat. Another 20 mins go by and there is no police! Meanwhile the man is standing next to my table trying bullying me screaming pay the whole bill. I asked when will the police be here? He goes I don't know someone else called. So I asked if he can ask the person who called when they'll be here. He did not want to. He continued to harass and threaten me. I then decide to pay for the drinks and appetizer I ordered and get my things ready to leave. He's still next to me screaming pay for the bill! As I am walking towards the door he chooses to follow me screaming "You can't leave!". I told him if he touch me, we will have an issue. read more

The Wife searched online for somewhere close to the house to have dinner and picked this place, I was a little bit worried because of the Bakery part in the name but I'm glad I gave it a try because this is one of the best restaurant I've been to in a while, from the amazing staff to the amazing food, everything we had was amazing and wouldn't hesitate to come back. BUT you Blow it by being Chincy and not doing the right thing when you serve a pasta dish and a customer asks for grated cheese and at the end of the meal which is over $100.00 for 2 people without desert You add $ 3.00 for the cheese . Ordered a burger medium well and it was dry and not seasoned adequately. Coffee is tasty and I could probably drink a gallon worth. Came here for Christmas brunch with family. The service was fairly paced except for my daughters pancakes that took forever to come out. The food was very bland and had no flavor or the wow factor everyone is always talking about (it was our first time there) pancakes out of a box taste better. Came for breakfast and was really enjoying the food, had the duet skillet. The potatoes were so tasty and perfectly done with garlic, soft and seasoned nicely, got scrambled eggs big portion and the salad was tasty. It came with bacon that was also tasty. I was a little surprised that I asked to add cheese and they charged an extra $3 without telling us. The plate on the menu was listed with toast but it wasn't brought to us, they asked us after if we wanted bread. The toast was good came with cold butter. We also got fresh juice which was a descent portion but we did pay $9 for each one so not so cheap but I guess expected for fresh juice. What really was disappointing was when I was enjoying my meal and took a bite of my salad to discover a hair under the leaves. That really turned me off. The waitress apologized multiples times and offered me a new salad, however it was all one plate and personally I don't think this was sufficient: they should have comped the meal. Instead we were charged for the meal plus extra for cheese on my eggs, that was a big turn off and reason for the three stars. Otherwise good food and nice place. read more

What's happening with Duet? It's used to be our one of the favorite restaurant! It's used to be highly grade food place . Unfortunately Syrniky is not that syrnyky any more - why you change recipe ? Is this shortage of white cheese in NY? And sliders- we don't like burn sliders from low grade beef . We know , it's inflation and you try to keep prices, but we are prefer to pay little more and enjoy , than to be disappointed. read more

Used to have great food and desserts, and with the expansion I thought this would be my new favorite brunch spot - but if you're coming on a weekend or while the restaurant is crowded beware of terrible service. You'll be there for hours and the food comes out cold. I think the waiter honestly checked on us once an hour and we were there more than two hours for some eggs and crepes. Came here after the renovations were done, they added a restaurant part to the bakery. My boyfriend and I came here for brunch. I ordered the spinach florentine, I've been craving it for such a long time so I was hoping it was good. I didn't like the egg, it was a bit dry. When I order eggs florentine, the most exciting part is popping the egg and watching the yoke flow. This didn't happened so much with this dish. The spinach was a bit old and the muffin was soft, I wanted it toasted. My boyfriend ordered the lobster Benedict. He really liked it. The home fries were really good though and so was the side salad. The service needs a whole lot of work, it was super slow. I was upset I ordered a side of baguette bread and the waiter said there was no more but the table next to us, ordered a sandwich with baguette bread. The waffle with mixed fruits was not good to me at all, the waffle wasn't crunchy, it was soft and mushy. The fruits were really fresh though. This place has tried hard to imitate Financier- it has failed miserably to deliver- got a red velvet cake and macrons from here today- it is overpriced and downright horrendous. The establishment should take notice of quality - it would help not to sell crap-the macrons tasted dry like cardboard- red velvet was dry too- incredible waste of money- charging premium prices and delivering sub par goods. Went there today for dinner. We waited five minutes to be seated.. while there was so many empty tables. The waiter was extremely rude. As he was taking our order he kept ignoring us and our questions. We ordered salad, lobster and steak. We also asked for bread four times and he brought it out towards the end. No water. And the sangria consisted of just fruits and barely any liquid. Finally they bring out the food and forgot the salad. As we mention it he says oh sorry. Ten min later i ask for the salad again he says I never ordered it. I was furious. Bad bad customer service. They need to do a better job to finding better ENGLISH waiters. I ordered some cupcakes to be delivered over Mother's Day Weekend and everything was great! FedEx arrived fairly early on Saturday morning and it was a total surprise! The cupcakes looked perfect in their little box, and they were so pretty. There is no way I could've baked something this fancy. Came here for brunch with my friends from out of town and my sister. We were seated almost as soon as we came in, it wasnt busy but it also wasnt empty. Our waiter was funny and nice and attentive made sure we recieved all the items we ordered. Overall the food was good. I ordered the original pancakes no mix-ins and fries. It tasted alright, something was just off about it. Like there wasn't enough sugar in the batter or something. The fries were delicious, perfectly seasoned and crunchy. My sister ordered the french toast and when I had some of hers I wish I had ordered that instead of the pancakes they were delicious! One thing that was weird that I noticed is when they fill/refill your water they only fill it half way instead of almost to the top. My friends like their food and the coffee was good. Wow what happened guys??? This place used to be one of my favorites, I used to tell everyone that if you want some really good Russian food with a French twist and great service to come here. But not any more, not since last Father's Day meal we had. Food was outright embarrassing, hash brown from the frozen food isle at your local restaurant depot, really??? Sorry guys you must uphold higher standards for the prices you charge. I was actually embarrassed in front of my guests and family since I was the one to invite them. I was never told that it would be price fix menu (with vot your best options in it) not to mention the $50 deposit I was charged the day before even tho we all arrived on time and was never refunded it from the bill or even after I called the next day. Maybe this was just an overwhelming day for you or maybe you are about to journey through the down slide most good restaurants go through when they get some recognition. Food 1* Service 1.5* I am debating if I should give this place one more try since I did have countless positive experiences here but probably not anytime soon. I would definitely suggest to avoid this place during holidays (Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc) and never give them your card as a deposit when making reservations because you might not get it back- be warned Eat to live and live to eat. The food at Duet is delicious...I haven't had a single thing that I didn't love. We have needed a restaurant like this in the area for a long time!! The waiters are polite, and although a little pricey, I expect to pay those prices for the type of food prepared here. The only issue I have is when we were seated near the open front area, there was a crowd of people smoking cigarettes and we were all inhaling smoke. I think the owners should discourage this. I came here for lunch with my family and 2 kids. (4yr old and 1.5yr old) Besides the food here being absolutely delicious, the staff is amazing. Friendly, polite and patient. Anyone that goes out to restaurants with toddlers, knows how difficult it is to keep them sitting in one place quietly and patiently. One of the waiters (Alex) whipped out a harmonica from his pocket and played a song for my girls. Entertaining them and bringing a smile from ear to ear. Then later once our food came out, they gave my girls color pads and crayons. Looking forward to coming back here for another family day out!
