This is a very nice restaurant and I enjoyed coming here and having lunch with a friend. We were seating outdoors and it was really nice. I had ice coffe which was strong and amazing. I was a little hesitant about trying this based off the reviews, however, this place is walking distance from so I figured what the heck why not try it. I've been here a few times and the food has always been delicious! The service also has never been an issue either; only on Mother's Day it was a little packed and we had to wait a little while. Hi. I ordered for pick up from duet on march 25 for my husband's bday. Food was good, but i also got 2 desserts , black currant marshmallows cheesecake( was amazing), and opera. Opera was at least 4/5 days old, not chewable at all. I called restaurant and ask them to try what they selling for 8$. Reply was that i do not understand and this is how this pastry supposed to be... well this is one of our favorite dessert and we ate id in mane french places and not that stupid for do not see a difference between old and fresh. I went back for cupcakes, and wanting to do something nice for my family, I picked up some for them too. I spent a pretty penny and received a cupcake box that had a grease stain. It wasn't the best presentation, but I already knew presentation wasn't their strength. Really, the cupcake was repulsive. It was dry and flavorless and the frosting tasted like pure butter. It wasn't even sweet. I threw out the rest of the cupcakes, there was no point in giving people fattening, flavorless cupcakes in a grease-stained used looking box. Maybe this bakery is catered to the people who are going to buy big customized cakes and not to the coffee and cupcake crowd. But I've tried them twice and given them nearly $40 doing it. That's it for me. It's too bad, because we could really use a place just like this but with edible food. Owners, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, the reputation of the owner Dimitry is true. He is absolutely disgusting to deal with. As a regular who lives in the neighborhood, I will never throw a family party here again. Same goes for at least another 5 friends and their families. He is cheap, dishonest, rude, and overall incompetent business. I've seen him yell at staff in front of tables, degrade other guests for not ordering enough, make people get up and leave because he needed the table, and outright lie about cork fees and letting patrons bring wine or not. The moral of the staff sucks. They're slow, impatient, rude, and while it's easy to blame them, it all starts from management. The food is good, not something you can't get anywhere else, but there is definitely a reason he failed in NYC. His attitude and overall lack of respect for customers, his inability to communicate without insulting another human being will unfortunately be his downfall. Try Vis a Vis. I felt bad for him because it got crowded and there were too many tables for one person to service. The server did the best he could and we appreciated it. In my opinion, the food was flavorless. I ordered a breakfast skillet. It came with eggs, potatoes and sausage. The menu stated it would have pepper jack cheese but it arrived with American cheese, which I don't really like. Best Cakes Ever! For a while I have been following Duet Bakery on Instagram because they make the most beautiful cakes. Today my daughter and I stopped by for brunch. The staff is attentive and personable. The raw oysters are fresh, clean and delicious. The arugula and beet salad was amazing and they give a generous portion of grilled salmon on the side ala carte. I recently discovered this place thanks to an elevator advertisement in my new building (they work!). I have mainly had desserts and cakes here and they have all been amazing. Their desserts are flavorful but not too sweet, which I love. Too many places over-do it on the sugar. I have also had dinner here once, the trout and the steak were really great and filling. Had a few Russian friends invite me to lunch and as I've never dined Russian I was very excited. I would say it's definitely an American/Russian fusion as their menu had many traditional items and a few Russian delicacies. From the start I loved the atmosphere of the place, there is a lot of detail and you can tell everything was very carefully thought out. Since my friends knew the chef personally, we had the pleasure of having the Chef greet us and recommend our dishes. I started with a cup of lobster Bisque which had big nice chunks of lobster. The chef then recommended the veal liver (which I've never had) and was extremely pleasantly surprised. It came with a side of roasted vegetables and a very nice demi glaze.
