My brother recommended Duffy after 20 years of good service. I called ahead, was given a good time to arrive and was greeted with friendly, professional customer service. After checking my tires, three quotes were given and I chose the "top of the line" to match my existing tires. The quote was fair and reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised that for two new tires and disposal of two old tires, the cost was $60.00 less than Costco! Highly Recommend! Duffy Tire Service is very busy due to their good reputation in Northampton. It is best to call ahead to see when they can help you rather than waiting until the last minute and being disappointed. I was visiting Northampton, MA and with the temperature drop overnight I found my tire pressure light on when I went to get coffee in the morning. I have never been afraid in a car related shop in fact most of the time dealing with service men, and they are always men, is pleasant. I left Duffy tire in a hurry afraid that the owner was going to hit me. I am five feet tall, 125 lbs and sitting in a chair. This giant man squatted down to be in my face raised his voice and opened his arms it doesn't matter if he was right, as he may have been. The point is I am still shaking. I came out of the supermarket today and a very nice woman said your tire looks low on air. I panicked and went to the nearest tire shop on King street to get air and to inspect tire.The man said you need a new tire lets get you set up. I said you didn't even diagnose what was wrong with tire, you just automatically went to get money out of me. I said there is only one place I can get an honest opinion and that is Duffy Tire. They are Northampton's first tire company established over 50 years ago before the big chains came in with there slick advertising to lure you in with there low prices. Well the old saying still stands ,you get what you pay for.Jim Duffy has been working for his father since he was 9 years old.Nobody knows more about tires than Jim Duffy.Jim did a full inspection on the tire and said you must of hit one of those sewer holes raised above the road during construction on Prospect street and popped the seal. I'll take care of that real quick. Tire has been good ever since. I asked what do I owe you, he said nothing, I take care of my long term loyal customers. They don't make them like this any more. Free rotation for as long as you have the tires you buy here, and it takes them literally under 5 minutes to do. The garage is piled to overflowing with tires, and it does look old and grungy, but man, they know their business. A straight, honest, local tire shop. Ask them for a quote. read more

I stopped in with a tire with sidewall damage, and wanted to get it fixed rather than risk a blowout on the freeway on my way home. The people there were very friendly and I was out the door with a replacement tire at a very reasonable price within 40 minutes or so, despite there being a few other people ahead of me. read more

I have been going here for over 30 years. When I had a car I could buy 2 sneakers every 2 years and they would charge me less than $200 and swap them around (balance) for free. Now I have a highlander and all need to be replaced at the same time but they still give me the best price and save the best tire for my spare (not a donut). I love this family and so glad to see the dad healthy and the family so happy! Local is better! I had a bump in a tire and went to a different place because it was close to work, they wouldn't fix tried to sell me a $235 tire brought it to Duffy and they fixed the tire for $12. Don't want to be over charged because your female? This is the place to be respected. I first went to Duffy Tire more than ten years ago on a recommendation after I develpoed a flat tire, and they have never disappointed me. Unfailingly friendly and helpful, fair prices, wise advice, and free rotations if you buy the tires there. I moved from MA to VT more than a year ago but after a disappointing experience at another local tire place here in the last month with some winter tires, I'm going to be going back to Duffy's in the spring for my next set of summer tires, even though it's more than an hour away--they're that good. read more
