I walked in, knowing that the price to repair a flat might be the cost of a tire in some cases. Still, I was recommended by Gil's Auto and wow, I feel this team is a Tire Hospital, doing Tire emergencies all day. Can you believe I came back with to find my flat fixed within hours, and for less than a quarter of the price I expected? On a busy day where there were plenty of cars ahead of me and maintenance work closing the street beside Amherst Tire, they told me it'd be four hours for them to get to my car if they still had the time by the day's end. My expectations must have been so low, because I was more than willing to let my car sit there and slow leak its way to a repair by the morning. They mentioned their Early Bird program, too, if you had to drop your car off before they opened. (There's a mailbox with envelopes to fill out your information in, where you put your key in the envelope and seal it, then drop the envelope into a letter drop in the garage door.) I thought I might need to drop by in the morning. Two hours later, they had managed to get to my car. Two hours later, the slow leak was repaired, just needing a bit of driving to test the patching solution pumped into the car. I had estimated $200, thinking they'd be painfully testing where the leak was, doing some odd patching, removing whatever caused the leak.. I must have had an odd idea of repair since these folk only charged me for maybe an hour's worth of labor to repair the leak. The slow leak is gone, saving me the need of replacing two tires at a time! In a circumstance where they could have easily convinced me I needed more labor and more tires, they were a cost-effective solution, administered within hours on a busy day, and surprised me with how trustworthy they were. They wanted to charge me ~$300 for a hood that would not pop open...said it was electrical. It is a cord, and not an electrical issue. Horrible to try to convince someone a cord issue is an electrical issue. Makes me wonder. They were highly recommended, but there is no excuse for this. Went in for an oil change after failing to do it myself and they were very helpful. Got me in and out of there quickly and are very reasonably priced. You can bring your own oil + filter and they'll do it $20. Also got my air filters changed here for practically cost of the filter. If you're looking for good service from good people at a great price, this is the place. They do FCFS but you can call ahead and they'll give you a time estimate. read more

These guys were great. They were up to their eyes with other jobs and couldn't fit me in for at least three more days but they took a quick look at my tire and fixed it in less than 5 minutes. They also didn't charge me. Talk about kind!! Town Fair Tire (where I purchased my tires) told me I'd have to, "wait all day" to have my tire fixed. I cannot say enough about my experience this morning. Battery light came on after granddaughters graduation last night. I did my best to clean and tighten at battery terminals, but (81 yrs old) no good, so 7am was at this garage. They thoroughly cleaned and then double-checked charging system, then said I was good to go. I felt I should pay for at least a 1/2 hr. They said no charge. I am just passing through but recommend anyone else looking for honest service go here. They could just as easily have told me I needed a new alternator on my old car (2003 Toyota), but, just very polite and honest folks. read more

We've been bringing our cars to Amherst Tire for many years - even making the trek once we moved to Easthampton, but I can no longer recommend them. Not responsive to a problem that they seem to have created after doing minor repairs to my car's heating system. What stings the most is that I had dropped several - many - hundreds of dollars on four new tires at the same time of the heating repair. I'm left feeling that Amherst Tire is happy to take my money for the big stuff, but not willing to follow through on completing the small repairs at a high quality. read more

Gonna try to stay as objective as possible and refrain from recency bias as my latest visit was disappointing. So to start, the customer service is outstanding, always friendly and welcoming. Service is done is a reasonably timely manner. The prices for their new tires are very competitive and fair. These guys will not try to upsell you for crazy mark ups or scare you into buying something entirely unnecessary. My experiences with tires replacements and repairs as well as oil change services were very pleasant. Given such pleasant experiences, I was led to believe I have found my go-to shop for all things needed done on my vehicle and since I believe in loyalty being a two-way street, I was happy to return with my business, this time for some more mechanically involved labor. Unfortunately this is where the problem occurred and without boring you further with all the details, know that my problem was exacerbated. I can understand and appreciate the notion of "sh*t" happens" so I took the car back with hopes of the guys correcting the mistake real quick and I do mean quick. But I was met with attempts to pull wool over my eyes. Having sold cars for years, though I am no mechanic, I'm not too much of a stranger to the basic parts on a car but more importantly I'm quite familiar when the service adviser is fast-talking a customer and a quick trip down the street for a second opinion confirmed it for me. Personally dishonesty trumps all else so when I say disappointing, it truly was the emotion at that moment because I really thought I was lucky enough to find the shop. This being said, if you are looking strictly for tire related services, I would still recommend you this place but alas my search must go on. read more

Kudos to the guys down here at ATC for a few good reasons: 1.) I took my car in to see about needing a new tire (because another shop told me after fixing a flat that I would need a new tire completely) so I went over to ATC. They checked it out, and showed me that I didn't actually need a new tire; the other shop was yanking my chain. 2.) ATC patched the flat better than the old place, and they adjusted all the air in my tires and cut the low tire light off. They also assured me that my tires still have alot of life left, which was comforting. 3.) Confidence and trust and kindness (and a good repair job) from these guys only cost me $20 bucks flat. What a deal! Seriously though: these are good ole boys who care about local folks and doing good business. Treat 'em like you'd treat your neighbor, they deserve it and they'll do it in return. read more

I took my car to Amherst Tire for the first time this week, because I was having an issue with my car that I wasn't able to diagnose. The mechanic was friendly and told me to drop it off the next day, and he would look at it the following morning (today). I got a call from him this morning, and he told me what the issue was, and how much it was going to cost before he started anything. I agreed to the estimate he gave me, and he was able to get my car driving as good as new within about an hour and a half. My brake caliper had been stuck, and it was something that another shop in town failed to diagnose. The other shop had told me it was an alignment issue, so I ended up sinking $100 for them to balance and align my wheels, then still have the problem persist. I feel sort of dumb for having to learn that the hard way, but I'll certainly taking my car to Amherst Tire for the remainder of my time in the area. I'll also be needing tires in the fall, and will likely go here for that as well. Overall: timely, completely up front with me, didn't try to sell me things I didn't need, fair price. I got a flat tire and since this was the first time getting one I thought I had to buy a new one and didn't know it could get repaired. I spoke to them and they said I didn't need a new one and could probably just get it repaired - this saved me quite a bit of money. They were also very prompt and got my car back to me very quickly with great customer service. I will definitely be returning. read more

I started going here in college and still come here to this day. These men are honest and amazing and their prices are extremely fair. As a young female most auto places take advantage of my lack of knowledge when it comes to cars, but every time I go to Amherst tire they explain everything to me and always help me out. Today I brought my car in for an oil change and when they looked at it, they told me I actually had 2000 miles to go before I needed one and sent me on my way no charge. I highly doubt any other mechanic would ever do that. Amherst tire is a special place. I've been a customer for a few years now and will continue to as long as I live in the area!! read more

They do a lot of automotive mechanical work but I usually stick to bringing them problems that only involve tires. I've not purchased any tires here as of yet, but I will certainly give them a try when the time comes. So far I've brought a car tire and a tractor tire here for leak issues and both times, the fixed the problem. The tractor tire had to go back more than once, but there was never any extra charge for it. read more

Amherst Tire Center is wonderful! If you buy tires from them they have life time feee rotation and repairs. Today they pulled a five inch nail from my tire, fixed it and rotated my tires for no charge. They are always kind, remember me by name and are very professional. Highly recommend! read more

Today, on 11/18/22 at 430pm, a half hour before closing, my 83 yr old mother limped her car into the parking lot from a flat tire. They told her they were closing in five minutes (even though they close at 5pm) and that she could leave her car there and they would look at it tomorrow. She had somewhere to be so she called my wife and they attempted to change the tire with the donut but they couldn't loosen the nuts. They called me and I arrived to see my mother and wife trying to change the tire. There were three employees there and not one offered to assist them. Picture that, two small ladies changing a tire at the City Tire parking lot right in front of their picture window, with 3 employees who change tires for a living, ignoring them. They called me and I arrived to change the tire. When I got there, they were walking to their cars to go home and they didn't so much as look at us...not one word, not even a fake care in the world...They left at 450pm when they are supposed to close at 5pm. As long time Amherst residents and people who work in town, they will never see us as customers ever...nor would they seem to care less. read more

I had my alternator replaced for $700 in July 2020. Seven months later it failed again. Charged me $300 labor to replace it again. Then, two days later the tensioner fell off and my car died on route 91. These guys are the worst. I didn't pay for a POS alternator. Ended up paying 1k for an alternator and I suspect the second is also crap. DONT USE THE GUYS. They are the worst. read more

Spent nearly $600 buying tires for my minivan from Amherst Tire Center. They told me that it would take less than an hour to mount the tires. It ended up taking two hours, so I missed an important class at school. The mechanics working at the shop all smoked cigarettes while they were working, so when I got into my van it smelled like an ashtray. Hours later, my children's car seats still smell like cigarette smoke. When I complained to management, they handed me air fresheners and said "that's just how it is." Buy your tires somewhere else. Amherst Tire Center is about as unprofessional as can be. read more

Not only did they get me out quickly, the price wasn't terrible. First this place was a Goodyear tire dealer until about 18 months ago. Reviews before that apply to the previous owners. I am always skeptical of the new guys but they have been fantastic. They have done tire work and mechanical work for me. Always good work and fair prices. But the most important thing is they are honest. They don't try to sell you things you don't need. There's very little a person can comment about their own car, but let's just say mine needs a little extra attention. Amherst Tire doesn't seem to put much effort into the maintenance a car like mine needs. I was overcharged on new brakes that seemed to give a little squeal everywhere I turned. And a small hole in my tailpipe I only assumed they patched up fell apart a couple of weeks later (at least it wasn't days after.) I'd like to recommend Firestone for any future customer. read more

Things started off great. They did tires and an exhaust system on my wife's Subaru quickly and for a very low price. So when the alternator in my Volvo went I brought it to Amherst Tire. However, they really took advantage of me. $499 plus for a "rebuilt" alternator that retails for $140-200. It's currently less than 6 months later and I just got done replacing the alternator this morning as it went bad last week. ~$700 wasted. Thanks! read more

This morning my left rear tire was FLAT. AAA came pretty quickly and put on the "donut tire" At about 12:30 p.m. (I had to deal with clients first), I drove to Amherst Tire Center. They could take me right away. They are in the process of remodeling their service desk and waiting area. Chairs and desks were being moved around, and two electricians came in. They, got on ladders (one a foot or so away from me) and started measuring the distance between two light fixtures. I didn't mind. After about 30-45 minutes, the woman at the counter told me I was "all set" -- they'd found a tiny, very sharp metal fragment of some kind in the tire and had put in a "plug patch." (I think that's what she called it.) And because I had to "wait so long" (I didn't think I had to wait long!) and it was so "disruptive" in the waiting area, there was NO CHARGE. I protested, telling her I felt I should pay SOMETHING, and that I'd once worked for a contractor and had found observing the goings-on rather interesting. "Oh, so you were entertained, as well?" joked one of the electricians. The woman insisted I not pay anything; I told her I'd give the company a shout-out. So this is it! read more

I've bought tires here twice and had them work on my exhaust. The prices there are competitive. I've had them inspect my suspension and CV joint as well. They did it for free and also greased the bushings for free. I think they are an honest bunch. read more

We had a tire blowout on a pretty specialized tire,, and all their locations and affiliates were backordered for four months, so they called a local dealer and asked them to set aside a tire for us, despite the fact they were losing our business. They were very friendly and helpful and devoted to getting a full sized tire for our all wheel drive when we had a spare. read more

I had my jeep at a collision repair shop that sent it to Amherst tire. The first time I received it back they forgot to align the steering wheel. I had to leave my vehicle at the collision shop for another night because of Amherst tire. When I finally got my vehicle back from the collision repair shop it was very wobbly and had a strong pull to the right. It drove horrendously, they told me they drove it 50 MPH down the road and it was safe to drive no issues what so ever. They told me to bring it back one day and they would redo the alignment and tire rotation for free. Why would they need to do this a third time? if it was done once it should be fine right? if they drove it and told me it drove fine it should right? This was not the case at Amherst Tire . When I took it back they told me I would have to wait but they could get me looked at by 3, I arrived at 8 that morning. I waited around all day from 8-3, they called me at 1:30 and told me i was third in line and it should be done at 3. While i was walking over the the shop the manager called me and told me they could not look at it today. I waited 6 hours for nothing, they told me to bring it back the two days later for another alignment and tire rotation. I went back Friday and they only did the alignment and told me they forgot to do the rotation. They also said they drove it up the road at 50MPH. When I drove my jeep it sounded worse then ever before and would not stop rattling. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there service is terrible and the management is extremely rude and they made my jeep drive worse then has ever before. They also refused to look at my jeep again because I informed my insurance company that it was still not driving correctly after the 4th time Amherst Tire fixed it and said its perfect. Its a terrible business that I would never want anyone go to. Its not nice to be lied to when it comes to safety. read more

I bought tires here several months ago, telling them that I needed matching tires for my all wheel drive car. They gave me the wrong ones and when I found out that they were wrong, I went in to find out what we could work out. The owner not only insulted me, telling me that women know nothing about tires and that I was entirely wrong, refused to do anything to rectify my problems and then made a bunch of sexist remarks about how women shouldn't be allowed to deal with cars. Avoid this place like the plague. read more
