Duffy's is a pretty typical diner. Nothing special, but usually acceptable. My family has been here a handful of times for breakfast since it's not too far from home. Today's visit was not good. My wife and daughter both got the pumpkin pancake on special. When it arrived, my daughter noted it was pretty raw. She didn't want to send it back, but my wife did. I got a veggie omelette which was as expected - average. My daughter and I continued eating while my wife waited. We finished eating before the cooked pancake returned (15-20 minutes). We tried to get the waitress' attention a number of times during our wait but she only made contact when she brought back the pancake and we were done. I would expect a restaurant to take that pancake off the bill since my wife was unable to eat with us during the meal, but that didn't happen. The waitress apologized, but charged us the full amount. I was very unsatisfied as a customer and Duffy's made it clear to me that our satisfaction was not their priority. They wanted their $10 for the pancake. We won't be rushing back to Duffy's. read more

I like going to duffys it is near my house and the food is pretty standard diner food. Pretty good. I wouldn't say it's the best place in the world but good enough to keep going back. The main complaint I have about this place is when ordering a special you are unable to sub any sides. I am a vegetarian and I was told I couldn't sub the sausage links for hash brown. I could pay extra and get it on the side. I think this is completely unfair and ridiculous. Most places that have good customer service will let you switch out sides. Needed to find a good diner within a short driving distance of the Lawrence airport. The guy at the airport recommended Duffy's (the place at the airport is cash only!). 8am and the place is pretty busy. Great selections on the menu, with some daily specials. Had a Spanish omelette with hash browns - all good. Wait staff were super friendly, and there was plenty of coffee - which was very good too. A great locals place. Highly recommended. read more

So we have eaten here a few dozen times - in the beginning the wait and service was not great. Took lol good time for food and the quality wasn't fabulous either. However the pass several times over the pass 2 months this place has been Excellent - fast service - great portion sizes and tasty food! A great breakfast choice for Bradford/Haverhill area. Our first breakfast here at Duffy's and we loved it. My omelet had plenty of fresh spinach, bacon and swiss cheese and the hash browns are plentiful and oh so crispy. Hubs had the corned beef hash with eggs and home fries and left his plate clean. Service was great, coffee was good and all in all a pleasant experience. We will return. read more

I have been here 3 or 4 times and it is always a mixed bag of good and bad. The prices are high for breakfast, one average size pancake for $4 is crazy. Service has never been great or even friendly. Once I had a really good Eggs Benedict special and the other times not so great. Just too expensive for a diner. read more

What a great down home type breakfast place! A few creative twists and always some good specials. Portions are huge and prices are reasonable. There's generally a wait, but it's a huge place and even when the parking lot and waiting room are full they do turn over tables quickly. I have frequented this diner many times because I keep hoping it will be better the next time but I think they have come to take Bradford for granted. I have decided to go elsewhere. On separate occasions, I have had undercooked hash browns, undercooked English muffins, French toast that looked and tasted like Aunt Jemima, corn beef hash that is smashed thin to make it look like it more than it is (for the price) and home fries with just an oily flavor from the grill but no seasoning. Although the service is very good and waitstaff is friendly they need to focus more on food flavor and quality. Convenient location, but too many disappointments, so I have to move on! read more

The food isn't that bad but watch out for things like when their options for toast, they suggest Blueberry muffins without telling you there is a big up charge BUT the thing that really pissed me off about this place is they charge extra for sugar free syrup. My daughter and father are diabetic and it is discrimination. I loved Duffy's Diner and have been going there for the last 2 years but today was not good. I love their Irish eggs bene and always order the same because it was pure corn beef but today was very different--the corn beef was laced with a lot of onions as well as a not so tasty additive...I told the waitress who said it varies...well, VARIES is not why I come back to a diner...so long Duffy's...unless you can prove to me that that was just a super blunder! read more

We've been looking for our new breakfast place ever since our last place changed hands. It has been a long, difficult search. I drove by here late at night with a friend who mentioned in passing that it was a good breakfast spot. My husband and I were there today, and we now have our new spot! I ordered the Irish Omelet with some modifications, and it was great! My husband built his own meat lovers omelet, and he was happy. Shredded hash browns were worth the extra charge. Ok. Within the top 3 places I have ever had breakfast in the USA or overseas. Big portions. Everything cooked perfectly. Excellent homemade corned beef hash, amazing shredded hashbrowns that taste magically delicious. Perfect poached eggs and finally good tasting breakfast sausage that close to Jimmy Dean. I will start by saying I do like their food for breakfast, they have great chocolate chip pancakes and I like the shredded hashbrowns. Their prices, however, are steep. You have to pay extra for the shredded type hashbrowns which at least you know beforehand, but it's kind of ridiculous. Also, $11 for three pancakes is way over the top. They ring it up as two pancakes and then three and then add the extra charge for chocolate chips twice. Got take out yesterday from Duffys. I ordered a "Reuben" that had little meat, orange cheese (like Velveeta), no sauerkraut that I could see or swiss cheese - I don't know how they can call it a reuben. The worst part of all was the fact that when I opened the container, there were 2-3 french fries stuck together that had ketchup on them!! I don't use ketchup and it makes me sick to think that these were in someone else's plate prior!! The entire lunch went in the trash!! They will NEVER see me back again!! read more

I live down the road from this place. I've heard so many good thi gs about it so I decided to drift from my normal spoy because this is closer. Biggest mistake Ove ever made. I waited for over an hour to be seated. The waiting area is some unfinised, dusty room with unwanted furniture in it. Not to mention people that had come after me were seated first. My boyfriend complained and they magically found us a table but it was drafty (I had a baby) and once we ordered we waited another 45 minutes and even then, we walked out because our food was not served. They have good coffee and the waitress gave us immediate refills. But thats not enough to keep the customer. The way they operate this place has to change. They need to treat everyone fairly or all theyll have are their same precious customers and no new friends. read more

My family has been here twice, both times with very mixed feelings. My last time there will be exactly that... My last. If I had to rate this place on food and atmosphere only I would give it a 3 maybe a 3.5 but I cannot get passed the cleanliness of the utensils and plates. When we sat down I notice a good majority of our silverware had dried food particles on it. Instead of complaining I took my silverware to bathroom and washed it myself. An employee came out of a stall and noticed me cleaning all of my silverware and did not say anything to me nor did she wash her own hands. Then when the food came the plates were in the same condition. I even asked for an additional plate so my daughter and I could share and that "clean" plate was also filthy. Duffy's served me an English muffin with mold on it. The server returned and lied saying it was from an M&M. This was clearly a lie. She then charged me for the meal with no compensation for the fact that she served me a moldy English muffin. I would've understood the accident if she had not come back and lied about it. I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately the service is not great. There is a tall very thin woman who is always there who I think is the owner but seems to just confuse all the staff. Have been here quite a few times hoping the service would get better but it never did. My last experience involved my party of two trying to get seats at the bartop area where we usually sit to be told that it was part of the wait list... which has never been the case before. My partner and I took a chance on this place trying support local places, however, they did not support us and left me thinking McDonalds would have been a better option. First when we pulled up we were greeted with glares from the locals when we got out of our car. Sadly, this continued throughout our entire stay at Duffy's by other guests in the restaurant. Second, we ordered food and had it delivered on separate plates. A large plate for two eggs, a large plate for hash-browns and then 6-8 min after our meal was over, a large plate for our biscuits. I thought at first this is how the diner operated, however, EVERYONE else at the bar had their food brought out at once and on one plate. Staff was pleasant enough and always had coffee, however, clearly forgot to put in part of our order when it was delivered by another waitstaff (Which didn't happen to any other costumer). I would not recommend this place and as I said earlier, go to McDonalds over Duffy's. This way you get your food all at once without the side of judgment. read more
