Oh Duffy's.. WHERE do I begin. What Duffy's really is..is an Island shack, situated in the middle of a borderline shady parking lot on the east end of St. Thomas. Throw in a college bar atmosphere with some disco lights, weird smog thrower and bammm - that's duffy for ya! Plenty of drinks on their menu - everything comes either in a plastic cup or a signature cup if want to pay extra. The place is always teeming with tourists and the music is hopping! As with any other touristy clubs, I recommend watching your purse and your junk - you are pretty much putting everything up for grabs by just stepping in here. However, the vibe is just great! My 16 - 23 year old self would have come here EVERY night i was on the island - in reality we ended up going just once, haha! Don't think they serve any food, and the place is a bit grimy. However, we went here for the vibe and their frozen drinks (which turned out to be pretty watered out). The music was just awesome - had tons of drunk fun! When we were exhausted, we just went across the street to the Tap and Still for some grilled cheese. Like its one thing if the place is busy but there were a ton of open seats and just to get someone to focus and talk to us for seating was a nightmare. The staff member was all over the place and we just wanted to ask about seating us and instead she is talking loud back and forth infront of us to these guys who were leaving about selling her t shirt to them for $100. Almost left right then and there, never seen such unprofessionalism and never felt so ignored. Never spending money at this place ever again because we went again and staff was making me move chairs because a table of 4 behind me was occupied by 8 people making walkway crowded but they make me move? If I could give them 0 stars I would. Or maybe not, the server was good. I imagine people just go when they're wasted, or just for the shots (which did look good, and super creative) and beer. Or people have no taste or go for the ambiance (I guess they have live music sometimes, you can "get lei'd", they have a different type of souvenir cup for each drink on their menu, and a bubble machine when the mechanical shark above the kitchen turns on and "attacks" with Jaws music). Other than that, it's in a parking lot so not great, and the music was very corny, like Love Shack. The food was terrible - I couldn't even eat the grilled fish tacos, and I'm not that picky...plus they're close to the ocean so it should be fresh/good. Frozen fish sticks would have been better. Even their fries weren't good - how can you mess up fries?! - and their drinks weren't good either - in the heart of Red Hook on a tropical island! Well, if you order a pirate drink, then you get it ina mug that has a skull with a pirate patch. If you order a tropical drink, it's served in a bamboo-like glass. If you order a jungle drink, then it's served in a monkey glass. You get to keep the glasses too, so that's cool, but now my kitchen cabinets are filled with odd looking cups. The place is in a shopping center parking lot. It's like: parking for Subway, parking for the Real Estate Offic, then Duffy's. They have loud music at night and a bunch of people hanging out drinking the night away.. it was a lot of fun here. read more

This place was amazing!!! It's located right off of redhook, and is in walking distance from the ferry. We ordered the chicken jerk nachos and the pulled pork barbecue sandwich and it was delicious- coming from Texans. We also had the 64 ounce shark tank which was also amazing. The shark inside contains a shot by the way :) Food was great, service was great, and ambiance was great as well. I can see why the locals love it as well. Went here with my husband for some drinks and a little food hoping they had some happy hour specials, but the only specials were on bud light and miller light. Not a very good happy hour. But besides that throughout our visit we tried these drinks: berry berry, the jungle juice one, lime in dee coconut, and mellow Merlin. All were super tasty except for mellow Merlin which was super gross. It tasted very artificial like some sort of candy and had a neon green color. The lime in dee coconut was very good! It came in a real coconut that had been cracked on top, very fun. For food we had the Caribbean pu-pu. It was pretty good. Well where do I start. We chose this place because it had a lot of stars and was open late by our air bnb. We get to the restaurant and it is not even at max capacity and we wait for a table... and wait.. and wait.. a line is forming.. we weren't smart enough to walk off. Mind you there are 4 to 6 open tables. We were acknowledged after 5-10 mins of being walked by. When we finally got seated 15 mins later or so we started wait number 2, but that's ok it's island time. We ordered the whole fried grouper and the Polynesian pu pu platter. It was unfortunately not worth the wait. Instead of a whole fish we got a small filet and I've had a better platter at Applebees. The drink I ordered was mediocre at best. Waiter was forgetful, but quirky and nice so I can leave it there. Service overall was terrible, but once again friendly and I understand the service industry and hey island life I general, but the food mediocre and best. Who doesn't love a tiki bar that's in the parking lot of a strip mall? Bueller? What it lacks in location it makes up in Ladies' Nights and ambiance. Their collection of tiki glasses is incredible, you can get anything from a lady's bust to a tuna's head. Simple drinks are free for women on Tuesdays, but you'll have to pay for the delicious Painkillers or other tiki drinks. read more

We were in a large party and one of the locals sat down with us to draw a picture and take advantage of our friend's good nature by asking for $20 for a simple drawing. Everyone recommended this place, and I don't know why. My husband and I stayed on the island for 8 days, and this was the first restaurant we went to for dinner. Over the entire trip, eating here was the worst experience on the whole island. The service was slow, and I mean S L O W. Look, I know we are on "island time" while here, but this was another level of slow. If I could look past the slowness, next is the service. The service was bad. Our waiter came by twice during our entire dinner. That's it. Once to take our drink order and once to check in on us. Someone else brought our drinks and food. When our drinks were placed, one spilled out slushie debris right on the table. The waitress simply turned around and kept walking. When our dinner arrived, we asked for a towel to wipe up the now melting alcoholic ice mixture. The waitress looked at us, placed our dinner plates over the melting mess and said, "I'll show you a trick my mother taught me," and walked away, placing the hot food plate on top of the melting ice pile. Next is the food. Sub par at best. The food here was the most unsatisfying, lack of flavorful meal we ate during our trip. Not worth the price or the experience when there are so many other good restaurants in Red Hook. I had the Fish Love tacos, and I've had better fish tacos in Philadelphia than in this island paradise. There wasn't a whole lot going on in this dish and I was disappointed. My husband ordered Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich and felt it was just okay. After having such poor experiences in the dining area (which is in a parking lot), we paid our bill and went to the bar. The service at the bar was good and I have no real complaints about the bar staff. I will say, though, that while we were enjoying our drinks, some guy wondered into the bar from the parking lot and tried to start an (unprovoked) fist fight with my husband. This guy was very aggressive and while security watched the incident, did nothing. After ten minutes or so we left the establishment and vowed to not return. I know everyone says this is THE place to go, but I'm not sure for what. Maybe for a late night party, but I would recommend taking your business and money elsewhere. WORST SERVICE EVER. As my newly wedded wife and I decided to dine in at Duffy's Love Shack, we both were starving and looking for something to eat on our first night of being married. Luckily we found Duffy's, unluckily we had one of the worst experiences from one of the most entitled, privileged waitresses I have ever met. The food was great, the environment was loud but bearable (it's basically a bar), and the seating was very small but again nothing to bag about on the establishment. However, as we were served by young women with a sleeve of tattoos running down here right arm didn't catch her name), we received our waters and entree. we received minimal service only 2 times in the beginning when ordering and at the end during check out. This is where the situation took a turn for the worst. My wife and I were low on cash and didn't know if we had enough money to eat and take a taxi home (which prices range from $8 to $25 going to our residency) so we decided to tip the server $2 which according to how much we paid $27 is just shy of 10 percent, a minimal tip for a minimal service. As my wife was going to the restroom. I waited outside the door when I heard the same waitress ask me where I was from? I told her as she approached, and she responded with, "they don't tip well where you are from?" My wife joined the conversation and the waitress continued to aggressively hound us. "What was wrong with my service?" And as we responded "nothing", she spat back "then why didn't you tip at least a $20." I was dumbfounded. Our food bill barely ran over $20. My wife and I then began walking away from the situation and responded that she could've given more service and her comeback was "maybe you should've eaten at McDonalds." We were offended and caught off guard by this privileged waitress. I hope no one had to repeat our experience because the food was great but the service was cheap. read more

We had a few different drinks, all of which were very good, but the highlight was getting to chat with Keith. Grabbed the food to go since it came out right after that incident and when I finally got to the room I broke off a piece of my fish and a long strand of hair was deep fried into my food. We had such a fun time at Duffys! All the locals we asked told us not to come here but we did anyways and I'm so glad we did. It was quite the experience. We were lucky we were able to get a table right away but there was a line to get in. Because of covid you have to have a table to enter and if you're standing you need to wear a mask. But there were still people up dancing and everyone had a great time! All the shots come in unique glasses which was fun. We did one out of an alligator and another out of a car with a whistle. Our waitress Grace was our favorite person we met while were there. She was so much fun and was able to give us great advice about which drinks to order and where to go to on the island. The drink menu is a little overwhelming so most of the time we did bartenders choice which were all delicious. It does get a little sketchy around closing time so I'd stay with a group, but we had a great time and I'm glad we came for drinks! read more

The young man is disdainful and condescending, informs me I can't hope to get a table tonight, they are only seating groups with more people!! Came here on the recommendation of another couple we met while on a southern Caribbean cruise and we were quite pleased! This place is small and right in the middle of a parking lot, but the drinks are strong and the food is tasty! We tried the Caribbean pu-pu platter and it was pretty solid. It would have been nice to have a few more coconut shrimp to be honest, but otherwise we liked that we could throw a bite or two up onto the warmer for a quick blast of heat if needed. We ordered the shark tank to drink and it was monsterous. And strong. But that's how we like it! Great atmosphere, great service, and solid food and drinks.
