Good place to meet up and just hang with your golf buddies. They have a good menu and plenty of cold beer. We may have been there when they were understaffed because it took awhile to get refills. We'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try it again. read more

I love to support local, have been here many times. Friday night was my last. Waited over 1 hour and 15 minutes for two salads and the stew. When I asked several times the food was "coming right out" when I finally asked for my check to just leave the bartender argued with me "you just wind understand we are serving all three floors". That's not service recovery. Worse - it was my parents first time in, they had driven five hours that day. Sad. Poor customer service. No service recovery. Not even an apology. read more

We strolled in on a Sunday Afternoon to this quaint Irish Pub. You have the bar in the front and the dining room in the back. The food was good , I had a Cajun Chicken Sandwich. It was excellent and was the way I liked it. No one else complained about the food in our group of 4. They all said the food was good. Our server was on the spot and very attentive to our needs. She had a smile and a very nice personality. It was a little over priced , but you are in Pinehurst. Overall I would come back and have another meal again. read more

Went there for the first time July 3rd. We were greeted and sat upstairs immediately. It has a darker vintage atmosphere and decor, but clean over all. Spoke to several staff who were both professional and friendly, and got our drinks which were pleasantly strong rather quickly. I myself ordered the salmon entree. It came with a hefty side salad, salmon fillet, and two sides. I ordered the mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day which was corn. Unfortunately, everything on my plate was under seasoned. The corn and potatoes could have simply used salt and pepper and had no evidence of either. The salmon, which I was really looking forward, to was not only over cooked, but bland, and had no seasoning at all. Even after trying it with the crab cake aioli sauce and bbq sauce, to try and add some flavor, and moistness to it, I couldn't force myself it eat even half. I will he hard-pressed to return following abysmal mid-afternoon customer service on Sunday Dec 3rd. The bartender-host was admittedly short-staffed, but that is no excuse to cuss audibly behind the bar and also shout grumpily across the dining room at would-be diners to "wait another minute! Stopped in for a glass of wine. With no at the bar it was filled with dirty dishes. As the server starts to pour a beer for one of the 2 tables, she looks up at me and I ask what the wine selection is. She slams down the half full beer and proceeds to take all the red bottles off the shelves and all the white out of the cooler and slams them down in front of me. This is our selection she said. I have been coming to Dugans since they opened. This place has always been great. I didn't care if my meal took a little longer at times as it has always been a wonderful experience dining here. Since Covid, the "self entitlement" that people have is astounding. Zero respect for anyone in the service industry and the "I want my meal for free" mentality is appalling. I have to say I have been coming to Pinehurst for 10+years to play golf. We would eat at Dugan's 2-3 nights. The last time we were there in 2017 we said no more. The service was not that good and it has always been limited on viewing options for football due to the setup. I have to say we went back this fall and am so glad we gave it another chance. First of all our server was working so hard. I think her name is Cynthia. The service was improved and the food was great. Several of us had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich. Others had the Filet Sandwich. Everyone was happy with their food. We had a beer ate and left. Went back to the hotel to watch the games on television. Will definitely come back next year. read more

I stop by the pub when I visit my family. Very laid back and the staff is very pleasant.

I think average is fair, maybe a little bit better at best. The fish and chips are good, but truly not great in a traditional sense, but you won't hate it. The place is cozy, people genuine nice and like everywhere, overworked with the reality that people would rather get a paid to stay home than go work. So they get a pass on service. Fair prices, good beer selection, and it has the feel of an authentic pub you'd find in the UK. You'll want to hang here. read more

Just dropped well over $125 in there tonight, and got terrible service in return. Food is always good, but little service. If it wasn't for the guy with the beard taking up the slack, not sure how they could operate. If you're going to let that many customers in there, you have to have enough wait staff to accomodate them. Dugans Pub has three distinct areas (which is unusual to see). There is the main bar area that features hi-top tables, a traditional dinning room in the back, and also a downstairs/basement area that has another bar with frequent live music on the weekends. So, no matter what your style, Dugans has a "room" to meet your needs. I visited on a Friday evening and also Saturday afternoon. Friday evening I ventured downstairs to the bar/music area. There was a local band performing modern alternative rock type music....and a few classics thrown in as well. Drinks were reasonably priced given the upscale nature of Pinehurst (3 draft beers for $16). The music was cranked up pretty loud, and so you had to almost scream to the person next to you. However, this is pretty normal in this type of setting. The upstairs area would have been a little more quiet on this evening. The next day (Saturday) I stopped in for lunch. The Spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich was fantastic. Very large, hanging over the sides of the bun...and well coated in hot-wing sauce. The hand-cut potato chips were excellent as well. At $12 (including drink) this was a pretty decent value. They were incredibly busy when I visited, and so service suffered a little (and the main reason for the 4-star rating)...but I would not hesitate to return in the future. Food was great. Service was sub par at best. I have lived in Pinehurst for a few years now and wanted to take my mom to a good local restaurant, as she was visiting from out of town. We were seated in the dining room when there was only one other table. The server was taking that table's order while we were seated. No one greeted us for 10 min or so. I was watching the time. I finally went to the host to tell her that no one has greeted us and we're ready to order. The server proceeded to come up to us, visibly frustrated or annoyed and stated, "I thought someone else was going to take you guys but I guess I'll take you." You guess? That was very rude. When we ordered right after this comment , I was surprised he didn't need to write our order down. I worked in the hospitality/restaurant business, but I still complemented him on his memory. Well.... Spoke too soon. He forgot our drinks for another 10 minutes or so until he brought the salad out. Our entire experience was like this. I wanted to give him The benefit of the doubt but after the several eye rolls and complete lack of attention. It felt like he was deliberately ignoring us. The second sever in the dining room came on to shift (I believe) and was completely attentive to his tables and got them in and out before we were finished, when we were one of the first ones in there. Maybe it was the fact he doesn't like kids (I had my one year old), or maybe it was who he was as a server, but he made our dining experience extremely unsatisfactory. I have been coming to Dugans for 15 years. I travel to the area for work every few months and this is a go to spot on most trips. A great atmosphere, good beer selection, great fish & home made potato chips, great Salmon Cesar salad and lots of other good stuff. Live music at times as well. A fun place. read more

I ordered Fish and Chips and was told I can get another side. I asked if slaw was a side waitress said it's included. So-I ordered apple sauce. When my order came there were no chips?? I reminded her what I ordered--fish and chips. She then said it comes with two sides and I got the two sides. I said I ordered fish and chips. She said she should have explained that I had a choice of two sides. I said I wanted fish and chips. Sorry. She said sorry and I assumed she was going to bring chips. Great pub food with attentive service. The bar downstairs offers a bit of nightlife in a town where nightlife is almost nonexistent.

Whether or not this place is legendary or not, they served a helluva chicken sandwich and had a nice beer selection to wash it down. Perhaps an expert opinion is more valuable than a one-timer like mine. The shuttle bus driver said "Dugans" when asked which of the dozen pubs in the area was best. Enough said. Been coming to the pub for the past 10 years on the annual golf trip. The food is good, highlighted by the Pub Stew. It's creamy rich and filled with protein items. Corned beef and cabbage is a staple. Have had the meatloaf, burgers, chicken wings, and fish and chips over the years without issue. Portions are filling and service attentive. We were excited to try Dugan's based on reviews but it was a disappointment. We ordered Fish N Chips after it was recommended as some of the best by the waitress. The batter was so thick, when fried there was air between the breading and the fish itself. Plus, it was soggy with grease- so the fish was not crisp on the bottom- just soggy greasy batter. The fish was not seasoned. The "chips" were good but it's hard to mess up fries. We also had a crab cake appetizer. They were mostly filler and way over cooked. They came to the table dark brown and not light and fresh. The Harp on draft was stale. We couldn't finish a pint of it due to the taste and after taste. Not sure if the lines need cleaning or the keg was just super old but you expect an Irish pub to have a good draft beer. Maybe they were having an off night but it was not a good meal. This was our first trip to Dugan's as we try somewhere different every time we are in Pinehurst just to get away from the hotel. read more

We stopped a Dugan's Pub tonight for a beer and dinner. Server was great as was the beer. We should of took notice of how empty it was on a Friday night. We ordered the Fried Cod dinner, it wasn't good at all, breading was horrible and the fish was just okay (not really). Other places in the area were very busy, should of noticed.
