On going to walk about today when I strolled up to this place. Tasting a burger here has been on my to-do list for a minute.

I have died and gone to Hamburger Heaven! The rest of this review will be written by my ghost. Thanks for reading! e [Taken from snippets of a FB Messenger just prior to the OP's peaceful passing] "This cheeseburger weighs 15 lb, and I'm loving it." "It's like a Roman orgy but with coleslaw and pickles." "I'm two-thirds the way through this cheeseburger. If It hadn't come wrapped in thick butcher paper, I would need a FULL IMMERSION BATH!) [To the 911 operator] "Please ask my charming and attentive waitress to bury me out back and just pour a little bit of that hamburger juice on my grave, okay?" Legendary. Epic. Herculean! Stick a fork in me! Ded & lovin' it!

It's a cute little hole in the wall joint with exactly what you'd hope for out of a place like this. The burgers are made to order and are a thick patty that taste fresh from the grill. The meat is still juicy, and putting mayo on it will make you need a napkin or two! It's probably the best burger in Monroe if I had to choose. I also loved the onion rings! They maintain their shape when you bite into them and have a sweetness to them. I wasn't impressed with the fries though, they seemed a bit soggy and had no flavor or seasoning, not even salt. Skip the fries and get an extra order of onion rings, and you'll wanna stop here again.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while in the area. I really enjoy local mom and pop type places and Duke's is just that. My burger was delicious and the onion rings were a huge portion. I ate a few and then asked the sweet older couple seated nearby if they would like to have the rest. They gladly accepted. I will definitely be back for another burger. One of the best I have had in a long time. And the service was top notch. Sweet ladies working super hard to make sure every table in a very busy, small place was completely taken care of.

It's an older building with an updated exterior. The inside still has the original flooring and walls but kept very clean. Bathrooms are outside. And they have some rules. If you're parked here, you better be eating here. They'll tow you. Don't talk on your phones and don't let them ring. Make sure you sit at the right table for your party size. Staff greets you immediately and they are ATTENTIVE! refilled drinks after every sip kind of attentive. The first waitress said lunch wouldn't start until 10:15. We got in at 10. Our son ordered the pancake thinking he's wait -5 minutes and get a burger. The next waitress said lunch wouldn't start until 11. Everything is good. There is no niche. It's all store bought products and basically they're just cooking so you don't have to. Plain white bread for toast. Quaker quick grits. You get the idea. I listed their attentiveness. Which is the best. But there are a lot of rules and they're not very patient. They ask you what you want. If you've got questions, you need more time to decide.

Good lunch menu. The double burger with chili and coleslaw is great. Onion rings are plentiful and good.

We had the Classic - eggs over easy, bacon, whole wheat toast. Very good, although the eggs could have been a bit warmer. We also had the Homestead Platter - bacon, link sausage, scrambled eggs, with a biscuit and sausage gravy - a steal at $13.99! Lots of bacon and sausage and perfectly scrambled eggs - a winner in my book! The coffee was good, hot, and plentiful. Service was polite, friendly, and professional. The menu also had omelets, benedicts, and items from the griddle. Warmer eggs brings the food to 5-star. I gave the atmosphere a 4-star rating because I found the place a bit spartan. That said, I'll trade good food at fair prices for atmosphere any day of the week. If you're looking for a good, standard breakfast, this could be your kind of place. I will be back - likely quite often!

I use Benedict's as my gold standard for breakfast service. I like my poached eggs runny but these were almost completely cooked, the English muffin I requested toasted 'hard' meaning I want it well toasted but it came out hardly toasted. The hollandaise sauce was a little weak and thin and sparse. The potatoes were over salted for my taste even though our server tried to fix them by bringing me a new side order, the potatoes were still too salty. So the Benedict didn't meet expectations but my husband enjoyed his sandwich. My dogs enjoyed the remains of the eggs Benedict - too expensive to throw out! But not the potatoes. I might be persuaded to try this place again in the future, but it would be because nothing else was available.

It is in downtown Monroe with street parking and some public parking lots. Our daughter said she has been there around 11:00am and got a spot on the street right in front. It is very eclectic with decor and items for sale. They have indoor seating, seating along entrance hall and outdoor seating. You order at one counter, which has a large menu boards above the counter. The young lady that took our order was very nice. You pay over at the bar area. It was not busy at the time we were there. I had the Salad Sandwich. You can get it with chicken salad, tuna salad or chickLESS salad. I had the chicken salad in a spinach wrap with lettuce and tomato. There are other bread options. The wrap was filled with the chicken salad. It was nicely seasoned and tasted really good. My husband and daughter both did the Pick Your Burger, a build your own. My husband had the burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions and pepper jack cheese. My daughter added bacon, lettuce, grilled onions and provolone cheese. They both said it was a great burger. We enjoyed our food. Definitely will come back.

Biscuits and gravy are a southern staple and rarely have I had any that were really good, except here at Vicious Biscuit. Biscuits are their business. The most important elements are the biscuits and the gravy. Additions are many and varied, but if the basic two items are not both excellent, you will have a disappointing experience. The Vicious biscuit is the size of a hamburger bun. It is soft and there are bits of spice in the dough. These biscuits do not fall apart, but stay together and serve to soak up the wonderful sausage gravy that is poured on top of it. You can order just a biscuit with gravy for $8. And if you are timid, start here. Otherwise, there are add-ons like very good fried chicken, shrimp and grits, ham, pulled smoked pork, crab, bacon, fried shrimp. fried eggs and other combos. Super choices, so take time to study the menu which is extensive. Portions are great, very generous. I had their Vicious ($12). It was their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, with maple syrup drizzle. I was hesitant as to the maple syrup, but it is just enough to give accent to the gravy, but not super sweet. Wife had Fried Green 'Maters ($9.50) which were four fried green tomatoes, their signature pimento cheese with a pickled okra garnish. She could not eat it all, so I helped finish off the lone tomato and a bit of the cheese. Very good. Vicious Biscuit is more that a meal, it is an experience, even a journey, through this traditional southern staple, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the trip. We might see you there.
