I used to eat here two or three times a week. Now no masks, turned around and left and never again.

No. i won't return. I'd rather eat a Sam's choice burger than anything from this dive.

Great place to grab a hot dog & fries! Reminds me of the country stores where I grew up. Nice service and fast.

You may not tell by looking at the place since it's connected to a gas station but their food is really good.

I ordered a Bold Rock cider and a Lone Star Brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. My wife is having the Carolina pork with hush puppies and sweet tea. I'd…read morebeen to Midwood Smokehouse before, so on date night I convinced her to branch out and try the Ballantyne location. Yeah... probably shouldn't have done that. Nothing was bad, actually, everything was pretty good. The problem was that nothing really crossed over into great. We ordered the $46 Pig Out platter with four proteins, two sides, hushpuppies and pickles. We went with coleslaw and sweet potato fries, and apparently I was feeling particularly committed that night because I ate almost the entire thing myself. The brisket was good. The slaw was good. The sweet potato fries were good. The hushpuppies were good. See the pattern? For something called the Pig Out, I also found myself wishing the meat felt a little less like the precious commodity on the plate and, once again, the pulled pork mostly made me wish I had a pound of Lupita's sitting in front of me instead. Midwood Smokehouse isn't bad BBQ by any stretch. It just landed firmly in the "good" category for us when I was hoping for something memorable. Considering I used some relationship capital convincing her to abandon Mac's for the night, I don't think I'll be suggesting a return trip anytime soon. Honestly, I'm not sure I'd make one myself either.

To my delight I was sat immediately. Matt, my server, was charming and quick to get me my glass of white. I asked him for recommendations and after asking if I had any allergies and if I enjoyed seafood, he offered up the tilefish on the menu. I ordered it and as I was in a time crunch and don't eat much at one time anyway, didn't order an appetizer or a side, which I normally do. Matt brought me Copain bread (so good with their tomato bisque, highly recommend) and I enjoyed the bustle of a busy restaurant with my vino in hand. When my fish arrived I was delighted with the flavors - so much so that I called Matt over to ask him to give the chef my compliments. The delicate white fish was incredible with the carrot puree and pistachio topping (there's a fancier word for it but I don't remember) I just couldn't get over how good the 3 were together! I was so grateful for the bread when I finished the fish because I had to eat every last bit of the carrot puree/ pistachio. Joey, the manager came over to check on me (impressed given how full the restaurant was) and I shared with him my pleasure - and thanks to Matt I was out the door in plenty of time!

I ordered the lamb sirloin with bourbon-glazed collard greens, and both were fantastic. I also booked through OpenTable, so the restaurant knew it was my birthday. They surprised me with a birthday card and a complimentary dessert. I'm doing keto, so I had to pass on the dessert, but it was still such a thoughtful touch! Great food, great service, and thoughtful hospitality. I'd definitely come back!

We were looking for lighter fare and the menu had so many options to choose from. The lavender honey butter with the warm bread surprised me the most - the bread was fluffy and cloud like and divine with the butter. We nearly ordered another one, but it was just so decadent. The mezze platter had lots of great bites for our varied palates, loved the whipped ricotta and all the olives and fried naan. Harrisa roasted carrots were our idea of something healthy, and they may have been nutritious but tasted just as good as any main dish. Our server kindly warned us to be careful of the fresno chiles on the pork belly dish, and we appreciated that. They were quite spicy but very good with the slaw and pork belly - excellent bite of savory, crunchy, spicy and just a wee bit sweet was possible on that one. We happened to benefit from some wine specials and opted for a couple of bottles of wine at a serious discount that were excellent. Our server made great recommendations and made sure our glasses never ran dry. The manager also checked in on our group but was never intrusive. We enjoyed the booth seating near the window and the vibe was definitely upbeat but casual. It hit the spot!

The…read moreatmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a sports lodge--tons of TVs everywhere so you can catch every game, but with that rustic outdoor theme too. Mounted game fish, moose, and deer heads give it that hunting-lodge vibe, which actually makes it a fun place to hang out and watch sports. We started with the Billionaire Bacon appetizer--six slices of bacon described as thick-cut, hickory-smoked and candied with brown sugar, red chile flakes, black pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne. The flavor description was accurate, but the bacon itself really wasn't thick-cut and could've been much crispier. For the price, I expected better. If it had been thicker and crispy, it might've been worth it, but I probably won't order that again. My girlfriend ordered the Southwest Salad, and that dish absolutely delivered. It was a heaping portion topped with perfectly cooked sliced sirloin steak and shrimp, plus mixed greens, carrots, pico de gallo, roasted corn, black beans, pepper jack, and a jalapeño honey vinaigrette. She absolutely loved it. She also got a side of coleslaw, which was surprisingly delicious and a great addition to the meal. She paired everything with the Dirty Blonde beer, which definitely made up for the disappointing appetizer. I went with the naked garlic Parmesan wings and a side Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The wings were fried perfectly--crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside--and the flavor was spot on. I was very satisfied with them. Service was great as well. We actually had two servers because one was in training, and both of them were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. Overall, I'd rate our experience a 4.5 out of 5. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were all really good, and we had a fun time. If not for the underwhelming Billionaire Bacon, this would've easily been a full 5. We'll definitely be back--just skipping that appetizer next time.
