We stopped by here yesterday on our way home from dropping some rescue dogs at cargo for transport. We were tired. We were hungry. We needed a drink. What a great find! Beer was ice cold, the fabulous bartender made a mean cocktail and the burger and tots hit the spot! Staff was friendly and we really enjoyed just hanging at the bar after the hectic day we had. I made the mistake of ordering to-go thinking things would be just as good...$7 for fried pickles... and I was given one small shallow level of pickles...not counting the pieces the size of a nickel... I counted 16 little slices...that's sad. When dining inside, u receive a heaping pile. I can literally count these, slices. I'm terribly disappointed, I spent 18.95,( included a Texas Dog), plus I gave a 6.05 tip to round off the total to $25. Not sure why this place has high reviews. The service was okay, could have been better. The food was just middle of the road at best. We started with fried pickles and jalapenos (happy that did half and a half for one order), but you could tell it was not made in house. My better half ordered the fried chicken sandwich, which was excellent, and the fries were good. I ordered the spicy garlic wings, there was no garlic flavor to them, and the spicy level wasn't there either. When asked, the waitress said, that's how our sauce is. I added a photo of the wings, and please tell me where the garlic is. It was basically bbq sauce. I thought she might have paced the order incorrectly, but when the bill came, it had spicy garlic on it. I would always see this place driving through 1960 and I finally decided to try it out. It was a Sunday afternoon and the place wasnt really packed but there was only one waitress taking care of the inside and the outside, so service was a little slow but it wasnt her fault she still gave us good service. Even though it is a bar, it is kid friendly beofre 8 or 9 p.m. My son ordered the kids hit dog and we ordered the chicken strips basket and decided to try their crawfish, which were delicious! They had a great flavor and a little spice to it, cooked to perfection. We ended up eating 5 pounds of them. We will definitely come back for the crawfish. read more

Wanted a good burger and fried for lunch. Had a great bacon and cheese burger with tots for lunch. The serve sodas with real sugar. And a huge assortment of liqueurs, alcohol, and beer. To top it off they are all super friendly and conversational. Had the bacon qnd swiss cheese 1/2 lb. Juicy burger with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Tater tots were perfectly cooked. Came here to get some wings, I was a little disappointed with the wings and they didn't have any fries to make it worst. Overall the service was awesome Mystic was great, she kept checking on us to make sure we were doing good. On a side note I feel they do not have a great wine selection and I think in today's society and the number of people drinking wine they should have a better selection. Group of 10....I can't say enough about how well we are being treated....our server is on the ball and genuinely happy to be here.. it would have been 5 stars but food, while very good and well above average for bar food is not perfect enough for 5 stars...very solid 4 stars! I drive by this place all the time, and the Parking lot is always full. It might be a great spot to catch a drink, but 10/10 wouldn't stop for a bite to eat. It took over an hour for my burger (just one burger) to come out. The waitstaff avoided my table, and when my food came out after having to ask it was cold and my cheese wasn't even melted. Granted if it was good that would have been one thing. But my overall experience was awful. read more

I am rating low because the kitchen/restaurant could be the best ever for the neighborhood if food was better. We were checking out the place for my husband's birthday this Month..it's outdoor eating and music. Ordered fried pickles, wings, nachos and at the end tried a cheeseburger and tots...the latter was at most, decent. Not that my opinion matters but on the food: Add more grilled items such as marinated chicken breast (fresh, not frozen) or shrimp, shrimp cocktail. Options for a few fresh veggies like grilled veggie kabob. These days people are eating more and more healthier while also having a great time out...this venue will not work for us because of the food choices and food flavor. I could not wait until this place opened up! It is literally 5 minutes away from my house, and I pass it every day. I have dines here twice and have loved it! First experience: Atmosphere was casual, it was mid-day and mid-week so there were maybe 2 other guests there. Nice interior, felt a little small but perfect since their was nobody there. Patio looked like a great spot to hang out. Menu- great menu. I personally would love to see better options of craft beer. There are so many local breweries, it would be nice to see Spindletap, Lone Pint, B-52, etc. Giant Prezel- HUGE & Delish! Fries Jalapenos- Very good Chicken Sandwich- (grilled) pretty much a basic grilled chkn sandwich. Good flavor ***STACKED FRITO PIE*** OMG... So freaking good! The pulled pork loaded on top was really the winner and the item that made this dish stand out. One of the best bbq flavors I have had in a while. Staff was friendly, not too personal but kept our drinks full and was attentive. 2nd time dining: Went mid-day on Saturday. Decent volume, most of the crowd were on the patio for an event. Our waitress was nice, took our order and that's pretty much it. Fried Pickles- Good. Just enough seasoning. Some pieces were fried super hard, batter was hard as a rock but still edible. Cobb Salad- ingredients were fresh. Healthy portion of avacado slices. My only suggestion is to add some bacon. All in all this place was great! It is not often that I take the time to post reviews. I usually expect establishments to earn my dollars with their product and service offered. I vote with my dollars. But I actually feel like not warning others of this place would be a failure on me as a good citizen. To make a long story short, there was some sort of event that was on-going this Friday night. Our nice uneventful night was interrupted by who I believe was the manager screaming at the DJ to "shut the f*** up." Those were his choice words to instruct the DJ to cease performing his services for the establishment. This manager did this in front of all the customers...the ultimate example of a lack of self-control and professionalism. Apparently there were some interpersonal conflicts taking place that resulted in violent outbursts between some of the patrons. We decided to exclude ourselves from these outbursts by isolating ourselves within the building in order to avoid potentially exposing ourselves to the fighting going on in the parking lot. After the parking lot melee came to a conclusion, some of the patron "loyalists" who professed this chaotic night was in no way a good representation of the establishment, returned to "their seats" and told us if "we knew any better we had better get up out their seats". Our polite retort that this behavior was not necessary was met with an emphatic "shut the f*** up" by the bartender. Yes...the bartending person told a customer to STFU because he politely disagreed with the manner of speaking by one of the friends of the establishment. So we have a manager...and a bartender with a clear inability to demonstrate an inkling of self-control and falling far from any realm resembling professionalism. I am embarrassed to have suggested this place to my friends...as they were exposed to this environment we sought to avoid. The server lost my friend's bank card....was threatened by a fellow patron and friend of the business...and was spoken to in a profane manner by an employee. If you want a nice quiet place to take your family or friends. This is not the place. You are better off at Brickhouse Tavern just a bit further away. This place is the exact opposite of where a grown adult wants to go to relax. This place is ghetto. read more

There are few words to describe how bad my meal at Dukes was. But let's try: ghastly, horrible and error ridden. I think that the only worse meal I have ever had was when the restaurant actually caught fire during dinner! I went with a freind for a late dinner, after all is it open late and is very festive looking. WELL....... The homemade chips and salsa was amazing. The chips were light and not too salty and the salsa was, well, salsa..ie (if that is even a word). This just lulled us into a false sense of security. The food gods were playing Possum (for you Yankees, that is southern for being motionless and pretending too be dead. That's what Possums do. Possums are an animal, about so big..But I digress... My buddy's food was alright. He ordered a Quesadilla and it was reasonably good, not award winning, but eatable. Something Old El Paso could prepare. Then it hit the fan. My shrimp taco was not delivered with his meal and I was told it would be out in a minute. OK shrimp may take longer to cook. 15 minutes later and again I was told it was coming out now.... well this process repeated itself for an hour when I finally told them to cancel the meal...and it came out. Just as I was saying to cancel this order. Surprise. There was a plate with taco shells and rice and beans and, and wait....that's not shrimp. The meat was beef! Just as this story is wrapping up and you think nothing else could happen, it does. I paid the bill and and drove 45 minutes only to realize that they gave me back the wrong credit card. It looked like mine but someone else's name was on it. So after I called, I was forced to dive 45 minutes there and 45 minutes home to get MY credit card. read more

We were so excited to see the old bar "The Runway" being revamped. Once it reopened, we stopped by for drinks to try Duke's out. We so wanted this to be a cool bar right around the corner, but it seems to be Runway 2.0 - same awful & rude management. So disappointing. We went in on a late Sunday afternoon and the place wasn't busy at all. We sat in 3 bar stools, because our previous experience at The Runway we never had good service sitting at tables. Five people would walk by and no one would help you until you asked. Even sitting at the bar our first time at Duke's, there were three people who saw us walk in without greeting us, kind of avoiding eye contact. I understand these folks might not be our bartender, but greeting us and letting us know someone will be with us goes a long way. I cant rate the food because after one beer I was done. My beer was cold and dressed right, so there was one positive. read more
