We visited the Duke's in Waikiki on our honeymoon 7 years ago, so it was fitting to come here for our anniversary while in town. The views can't be beat. It's right on the ocean. One thing to note is parking is all valet, as far as we can tell. It was worth it though to not have to worry. We were seated right next to the window, but all tables seemed to have good views. The staff could not have been nicer. They were so friendly and comped us an anniversary dessert. It was the Hula Pie and I'll be thinking of that pie for a long time! So good! I had a Mai Tai which was strong and delicious. We both split the ahi bowl and the fish of the day. Not one bad bite. We finished every last morsel. I recently had the pleasure of dine at Duke's Malibu with seven friends. We were seated reasonably quickly, and then the Aloha began. The server, my apologies for not remembering his name was friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Our food came out of the kitchen wiki wiki and was delicious. No one really drank so I can't opine on the drinks, but did not hear any complaints about the beverages, Since the restaurant had just re-opened following the P/P fire, you could really smell the wood inside...nice. We throughly enjoyed the entire experience and would highly recommend it for visitors and locals alike. My only "gripe" would be for me, an old timer, the noise level was a little too elevated for my tastes, but supposedly normal people like that because they think it creates a good vibe. Came here with a friend after getting a $25 off two entrees email for my birthday. We ordered the seared ahi bowl and fish and chips. Out of the three pieces of fish, my friend ate one and said it was dry. She said the rest of the meal of fries and bok choy macadamia salad were good. She boxed the other two pieces of fish and the rest of her fries to take home. I enjoyed my seared ahi tuna bowl. Our server said that was her favorite. My friend and I split the delicious hula (ice cream with chocolate) pie. My friend also ordered an Arnold Palmer. We sat in the patio on a gorgeous sunny day overlooking a beautiful view. The renovations after the Pacific Palisades Fire were wonderfully done. The lighter wood color inside created a nice ambiance. Always friendly service. When in Malibu, this is a great, happy place for a celebration. The views are pretty good too. We were celebrating a college graduation and had picture perfect seating next to the Pacific Ocean. Had a lovely date with my husband here the other night. Made a reservation for a window seat, but when we arrived they told us it would be quite a wait for a window, so we said nevermind (although we saw quite a few open window seat tables, which was a little annoying). Our food was delicious. My husband ordered some type of seafood stew and I had the fish tacos. Decent portion size and everything was seasoned well. Best of all, our MaiTais were amazing!!! Strong, and served in an authentic tiki goblet. So much fun. The service was amazing! From the valet staff, to all of the ladies at the hostess desk, to the waiter who answered all of our questions, to the service staff and the bartenders. When we walked in, the music immediately took me back to my visit to Hawaii. The entire restaurant is decorated with things that remind you of a tropical paradise. We sat at a table right at the ocean wall. The windows were open, so we felt like we were sitting out on a patio. It was wonderful! My husband and I both absolutely loved our food! The presentation was beautiful and the taste was superb! We loved our visit so much that my husband bought a t-shirt! Duke is now open again after the fires. It's only been 3 weeks so I decided to give them some love by visiting this iconic resturant. Parking: valet is $10 after 4pm on weekdays (I believe $12 all day on the weekend) but there's parking along PCH. Reservations: Use open table vs calling. When you call, they told us that there were no tables avaliable. This is due to short serving staff (for now). Last seating is 6:45pm, but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Food: The mac hummus was so good, it was flavorful and creamy. It was beautifully presented with radish, cucumbers and carrots. It's my first time having it and it'll be ordering it again. My friend ordered the Rocket Salad and enjoyed it very much. Mains: I got the macadamia and herb fresh fish, which was Mahi for the evening we went. I love capers but capers can be a bit salty, so might want to request ez capers or in the side. The fish was fresh and flakey. It was delicious. It comes with broccolini and jasmine rice but I got the mac salad instead. The mac salad was ok, it wasn't as bold as the Hawaiian mac salad that I was used to, but decent. Drink: I ordered the Lavender Yuzu Lemonade. I really thought it would be purple for the Lavender syrup but it wasn't. Regardless of the color, it was refreshing and not too strong. Service: we had Matthew who was absolutely amazing and attentive. My friend had requested some modifications and a lot of paper napkins and he was chill and funny about it. But Duke's in Malibu just recently opened and it's been totally renewed, everything new, from top the bottom due to the smoke damage in Jan. 25 and being inundated with mud in Feb. 25. It's mid week we had waiting for us an elevated booth with a great view. Blue skies and the Pacific with pelicans diving into the sea were on display for our 2 hour lunch. It's all about the view. We ordered drinks and crab wontons, then fish and chips made with beer batter and macadamia nuts, and mahi mahi tacos, one grilled one battered. All good. The Hula Pie for dessert was very good-macadamia ice cream with hot fudge. $10-12 parking depending on the day. Various rooms to sit in. For so long Dukes had been one of my favorite restaurants, I'd even came here for my birthday dinner, but I WON'T be returning. On their reopening week, I returned here with some friends to celebrate. We were so happy with our appetizers and main dishes until we had halfway consumed the hula pie dessert and discovered tiny dead flies inside!! :( It was such a disgusting experience and sad letdown. When we told the waiter she was super apologetic and swiftly took it off the bill. We were so happy to see that Duke's is back after the devastating fires, they had been open for a few weeks. Amazingly remodeled, Duke's is cranking out the best mahi mahi fish tacos and Mai tais this side of the palisades. The staff is very friendly and our server, Kobe, was the best. We stopped by for a late lunch and sampled several appetizers including the coconut shrimp, seafood chowder and the fish tacos. My pineapple mule and Amy's Mai tai paired well with everything. Every now and then you have a night that reminds you why you still go out... and this was one of them. Pulled up to Duke's Malibu on a Sunday just wanting a good meal and a moment by the water and from the valet to dessert, it delivered. Let me start with the service. Lauren was my server, and she was exceptional. Attentive without hovering, warm, knowledgeable, and just genuinely pleasant from beginning to end. I even made it a point to speak to a manager because when service is right, it deserves to be said just as loudly as when it's wrong. Food-wise? No complaints at all. Filet mignon, medium rare plus cooked exactly how I asked, tender, flavorful. Came with mashed potatoes and corn, both solid. Started with a salad with feta, beets, and a vinaigrette that was light but still had presence. Had a lavender lemonade and hot tea to round it out both hit. And then the dessert... I didn't even take a picture, which says everything. Warm, thin chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, whipped cream, toasted nuts... one of those desserts you don't rush through. But honestly, what stood out most was the experience. It was one of those meals where the price almost becomes irrelevant because everything--from the ocean view to the pacing to the service--just works. I haven't been to Duke's in a long time, and I'll tell you why. The pre-pandemic version of this place gets an easy 5 stars not just because of the calamari, sticky ribs, and crab rangoons, but also because of the exceptional brunch buffet! The individual items on the buffet, which were usually a la carte items from the normal menu, were all decent to good. Together as a buffet, however, you would get a delicious sampling of what the restaurant has to offer. That buffet is no more, and I don't know if the individual dishes are exciting by themselves. That said, the hula pie is massive and delicious. I'm going to give them 5 stars anyway because the view of the water is still pretty beautiful. I just hope they reinstate the buffet some day. read more

It was nice to see Dukes just the way it was but without the sand in the Barefoot Bar and it brought back memories. Love the new addition of the beautiful Duke's statue in front. It was a good day to go. We saw the high surfs and a couple of huge 20 flock Pelicans fly by and a surfer all by himself out in the water. Our waiter, Mattias was friendly with a nice smile. I would've preferred the Fish and Chips without the paper because food softens paper and I don't wanna end up eating paper so I removed it. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had. Fries were previously frozen and very hard and cooked in bad oil and were small and thin and hard to swallow and left a heavy feeling in my stomach, the rest of the day. The service was great. The views are great. The food is definitely subpar, and the drinks were weak and not well-made. My husband and I had the fish and chips and the coconut shrimp. We also had a lychee martini and a mixed drink. The coconut shrimp pretty good. The fish and chips did not have any flavor and the fries were cold and not crunchy. The sprite used to make my husbands drink was flat and my martini tasted like pineapple juice. Once again the views and the service was great, but I wouldn't come here if you're hungry. read more

We had such a lovely experience at Dukes the day before Mother's Day. When arriving, we were quickly greeted by valet (cost $12). As you enter the building you immediately get 180 degree views of the ocean. We were being seated across from the window tables and we asked to be seated at a window table instead. After a bit of back and forth, eventually hostess accommodated. The server was very attentive to my dietary restrictions. I had the Sea Bass (no sauce, just S&P) with broccoli & rice. Thankful to the amazing staff at Duke's Malibu for welcoming us with warmth and kindness and serving delicious buffet dishes during our company retreat last Thursday, 24th of July. We dined at Ocean Room and it was a breathtaking set up with a beautiful view of the ocean. We saw dolphin swimming and a sea lion. It was amazing. The tables were set up with beautiful center pieces of mixed florals. Food was delicious, of course. We had barbecue ribs, marinated seasoned tofu, specialty salad and their famous Kimo's Original Hula Pie. The ribs were perfectly marinated and grilled at the right temperature. The meat was so tender and flavorful. We can't wait until they fully open up and complete their renovations. We plan to have one of our family events here in several months. The last time we dined at Duke's with friends was Sept of 2024. We've always liked Duke's Malibu and can't wait to dine here again with family and friends. read more

Duke's is a staple in our household. We have been lucky enough to visit many locations here, in California, and in Hawaii. Our go-to is the Malibu location. It warmed our hearts when we saw how they came together after the fire and rallied the community and, then, how they withstood the subsequent mudslides to rebuild and reopen. We have been back multiple times since their reopening and we are so happy to see the same great peeps, have the same great Blue Hawaiis, enjoy the same delicious food, and enjoy the best atmosphere around. Yesterday, we returned and had one of our best experiences. Kobe took care of us and made it the best experience we've ever had at Duke's Malibu. Duke's Malibu took wonderful care of us and made sure to make our Father's Day celebration a special one. Jimmy was our server and he was FANTASTIC!! He was so attentive and friendly throughout the whole process, checking in on us every step of the way. The GM, Jimmy, also introduced himself to us and took the time to get to know us better. The food was delicious and the prices of the items we ordered were very reasonable, especially considering how beautiful the ambiance and view of the ocean was. Lastly, we are a two-Dad family who wanted to celebrate Father's Day at Duke's with our son, after we dined at Duke's in Waikiki 5 years ago during our honeymoon. It was a full circle moment for us indeed to celebrate a special moment in our lives at Duke's again. It meant the absolute world to us that the entire team, from the front desk to our server, immediately clocked that we were a two-Dad family, did not get tongue tied at how to address us, and just immediately knew to wish us both a happy Father's Day like any other family. Moments like that really stick with us and make us feel so welcomed and valued as guests. That moment alone solidified us as loyal customers to Dukes indefinitely. Had a wonderful family lunch celebrating a birthday. We looked forward to seeing the newly remodeled Dukes after the horrible fires. When we walked in, we immediately felt the aloha spirit. The views of the ocean were stunning and the dining area was welcoming. The front desk team advised it would be a 20-30 minute wait for a window table, but we got so lucky running into Ciera. Since we had a couple of 92 year olds with us celebrating this occasion, she made every effort to find us a window table and she sure did! Thanks Ciera! The appetizers were excellent with the poke tacos and calamari. The entrees we ordered from the fish n chips, crusted fresh fish, seafood hot pot and rib/chicken plate were all delicious! A long time Duke's fan. Limited menu and hours for now - yet still god quality. The only drawback was the acoustics were not handled well in the latest remodel.
