Duke's has been a favorite of mine since it opened, & I was so happy that it survived the fire & mudslide, and was finally reopening. However, sadly, today was a disappointment. Menu choices were fewer & the prices have jumped, particularly the macadamia crusted fish plate. The serving sizes were smaller, the previous simpler rice side replaced with rice with corn & peppers, the broccolini nearly unrecognizable. We shared the hula pie, but both of us immediately noticed the serving size of this also appeared smaller than before January 2025. The service was excellent, the restaurant looked so fresh & clean, and the ocean view was as mesmerizing & soothing as always. I will give Dukes another try later this year... Duke's Malibu and Duke's Huntington Beach, we've been to both many times. But Duke's in Malibu just recently opened and it's been totally renewed, everything new, from top the bottom due to the smoke damage in Jan. 25 and being inundated with mud in Feb. 25. It's mid week we had waiting for us an elevated booth with a great view. Blue skies and the Pacific with pelicans diving into the sea were on display for our 2 hour lunch. It's all about the view. We ordered drinks and crab wontons, then fish and chips made with beer batter and macadamia nuts, and mahi mahi tacos, one grilled one battered. All good. The Hula Pie for dessert was very good-macadamia ice cream with hot fudge. $10-12 parking depending on the day. Various rooms to sit in. The elevated booth gives you a better view than the window table, in my opinion. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. read more

The atmosphere and energy was great after a place closed down for so long after the fires. The free dessert at the end for mud pie was nice for birthday celebration. Drinks were spot on. An improvement area is menu. It is probably limited with a return. My macadamia crusted fish was too salty and my substitute dish of fish and chips was too fishy. When in Malibu, this is a great, happy place for a celebration. The views are pretty good too. We were celebrating a college graduation and had picture perfect seating next to the Pacific Ocean. Table service was excellent. Our server was friendly and had help from many other Duke's servers. Ambience, well it's at the ocean. I had the seafood hot pot with lobster, which was a delicious choice with coconut curry sauce. Make reservations early! Great sunday lunch. I had the tuna poke. It was perfectly fine.You can't really go wrong with poke. My mom had the seafood hot pot. The rice was a little bit hard.But overall, a savory dish that is similar to like a thai coconut curry. They cooked the steak perfectly. Duke is now open again after the fires. It's only been 3 weeks so I decided to give them some love by visiting this iconic resturant. Parking: valet is $10 after 4pm on weekdays (I believe $12 all day on the weekend) but there's parking along PCH. Reservations: Use open table vs calling. When you call, they told us that there were no tables avaliable. This is due to short serving staff (for now). Last seating is 6:45pm, but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Food: The mac hummus was so good, it was flavorful and creamy. It was beautifully presented with radish, cucumbers and carrots. It's my first time having it and it'll be ordering it again. My friend ordered the Rocket Salad and enjoyed it very much. Mains: I got the macadamia and herb fresh fish, which was Mahi for the evening we went. I love capers but capers can be a bit salty, so might want to request ez capers or in the side. The fish was fresh and flakey. It was delicious. It comes with broccolini and jasmine rice but I got the mac salad instead. The mac salad was ok, it wasn't as bold as the Hawaiian mac salad that I was used to, but decent. Drink: I ordered the Lavender Yuzu Lemonade. I really thought it would be purple for the Lavender syrup but it wasn't. Regardless of the color, it was refreshing and not too strong. Service: we had Matthew who was absolutely amazing and attentive. My friend had requested some modifications and a lot of paper napkins and he was chill and funny about it. He even apologized for the quality of the napkins. It was probably a joke, but he had us laughing every time he stopped by the table. Over all service was 5/5. read more

Recently reopened since the Malibu fires. This location is perfectly set right at the water. You'll get lots of ocean splashing against the window views. The food is amazing, and you absolutely gotta get the Hula Pie for dessert. Oh and it's valet parking only. read more

The service was great. The views are great. The food is definitely subpar, and the drinks were weak and not well-made. My husband and I had the fish and chips and the coconut shrimp. We also had a lychee martini and a mixed drink. The coconut shrimp pretty good. The fish and chips did not have any flavor and the fries were cold and not crunchy. The sprite used to make my husbands drink was flat and my martini tasted like pineapple juice. Once again the views and the service was great, but I wouldn't come here if you're hungry. read more

We were so happy to see that Duke's is back after the devastating fires, they had been open for a few weeks. Amazingly remodeled, Duke's is cranking out the best mahi mahi fish tacos and Mai tais this side of the palisades. The staff is very friendly and our server, Kobe, was the best. We stopped by for a late lunch and sampled several appetizers including the coconut shrimp, seafood chowder and the fish tacos. My pineapple mule and Amy's Mai tai paired well with everything. Every now and then you have a night that reminds you why you still go out... and this was one of them. Pulled up to Duke's Malibu on a Sunday just wanting a good meal and a moment by the water and from the valet to dessert, it delivered. Let me start with the service. Lauren was my server, and she was exceptional. Attentive without hovering, warm, knowledgeable, and just genuinely pleasant from beginning to end. I even made it a point to speak to a manager because when service is right, it deserves to be said just as loudly as when it's wrong. Food-wise? No complaints at all. Filet mignon, medium rare plus cooked exactly how I asked, tender, flavorful. Came with mashed potatoes and corn, both solid. Started with a salad with feta, beets, and a vinaigrette that was light but still had presence. Had a lavender lemonade and hot tea to round it out both hit. And then the dessert... I didn't even take a picture, which says everything. Warm, thin chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, whipped cream, toasted nuts... one of those desserts you don't rush through. But honestly, what stood out most was the experience. It was one of those meals where the price almost becomes irrelevant because everything--from the ocean view to the pacing to the service--just works. I hadn't been here in years, and this visit reminded me exactly why Duke's is still a staple. Already looking forward to coming back. read more

We had such a lovely experience at Dukes the day before Mother's Day. When arriving, we were quickly greeted by valet (cost $12). As you enter the building you immediately get 180 degree views of the ocean. We were being seated across from the window tables and we asked to be seated at a window table instead. After a bit of back and forth, eventually hostess accommodated. The server was very attentive to my dietary restrictions. I had the Sea Bass (no sauce, just S&P) with broccoli & rice. The Sea Bass was sooooo flavorful. My husband had the burger and my daughter had the fish tacos. Wonton dish and sashimi's dish for appetizers and their famous Hula mud pie for desert. read more

So sad! Cold soup, overly salty ribs, dry chicken.... One of our favorite nostalgic places has really gone downhill. Since the grand reopening we have been here a few times, and it's been disappointing. The desserts are always a treat but the menu and service are mid at best. Bummer read more

A fun venue with choice of wonderful ocean view dining room, outdoor cabanas for drinks and appetizers, or an indoor bar. Definitely leans into the Hawaiian vibe (Duke was a very famous Hawaiian surfer and the restaurant is part of a small chain.) The food is delicious and portions are generous. Great place to celebrate an occasion with friends and family---they handle groups of 10 with ease and no one is left waiting while others have been served. Be forewarned that the ice cream cake for dessert is super yummy but enough for 3-4 people to share! read more

Thankful to the amazing staff at Duke's Malibu for welcoming us with warmth and kindness and serving delicious buffet dishes during our company retreat last Thursday, 24th of July. We dined at Ocean Room and it was a breathtaking set up with a beautiful view of the ocean. We saw dolphin swimming and a sea lion. It was amazing. The tables were set up with beautiful center pieces of mixed florals. Food was delicious, of course. We had barbecue ribs, marinated seasoned tofu, specialty salad and their famous Kimo's Original Hula Pie. The ribs were perfectly marinated and grilled at the right temperature. The meat was so tender and flavorful. We can't wait until they fully open up and complete their renovations. We plan to have one of our family events here in several months. The last time we dined at Duke's with friends was Sept of 2024. We've always liked Duke's Malibu and can't wait to dine here again with family and friends. read more

We love this place! Not pretentious, and has lovely and friendly staff who make you feel like you are coming to THEIR home for a meal. The food is good and the views can't be beat. Love the remodel after the closure and appreciate the valet parking. The fish and chips is good, but I would recommend getting the macaroni salad with it instead of the fries. We also enjoyed the ribs and chicken plate. Save room for the Hula Pie which comes with a generous amount of real and delicious hot fudge. read more

Went for the first time since the fires/floods. Our server Roxie was outstanding and the food was excellent, loved the fish tacos. Only one gripe, we had a reservation for four people and asked for a booth. The lady at the desk told us no booths were available even though we could see at least five of them open. Let me just start by saying the service John and Daniel provided us was beyond amazing. John had food and drink recommendations that satisfied every single person in our party. The food was fresh and came out perfectly timed. For appetizers we had the calamari (wow!) and coconut shrimp! For entrees we had fish and chips, fish tacos, fresh chowder and the burger (all perfectly cooked!). Danielle was so good to us! She brought over a hula pie to surprise our birthday guest. The service and view were fantastic, but the menu was all over the place. Weird choices and ingredient combinations. Nothing on the menu complimented the other items. I'm a home chef and not usually very picky but it was hard to find something I wanted to eat. So I went with the fish and chips. Their mistake was making it with Mahi-mahi instead of the traditional cod. It was so dry it fell apart and you couldn't keep it together to dunk into the tartar sauce. My husband couldn't find anything he wanted either, so went with a hamburger...too much meat and not enough lettuce or tomato. We did Love the Hula Pie for dessert though! One more thing...it was Mother's Day evening. I visited the women's restroom both when we got there and when we left. The trash bin was overflowing and never got emptied during those two hours we were there, and I had even mentioned it to staff after my first visit to the restroom. Considering there were an abundance of staff just standing around at the welcome desk, right near the restroom, there is no excuse for the restroom to not be checked during one of their busiest days of the year. read more

Dukes has reopened after more than a year and as a Malibu local I was excited to return. I tried to call ahead of time but I was later told by receptionist we don't answer the phone when we are busy. It's not even summer yet. Dukes mahi burger was my go to meal Units no longer on the menu so I ordered the crusted fish. The fish taste was bland and not as tasty as before. It was never that good to begin with. So you can go to Dukes for the local vibe but overall it's a tourist trap with Mediocre food. Service was fine. read more

WOW it was so nice to see this place open again- I felt so bad after they survived the fires then got flooded with the rain so when we heard it reopened I had to come and support this business. Our server Alice was so friendly, professional and helpful with choosing our entrees. So I went for the Halibut and it was delicious ! My Hubbie had the poki bowl and loved it and we had the tuna tacos which I loved too. ( I stole a bite of his ) LOL There is a Bar area where a woman was dancing hula and music was lively on the south side of the restaurant and of course we had a Mai Tai - It was a beautiful night and the ocean was gorgeous. we have been going to Dukes for years . However, my experience last night wasn't great. We have been there 2 times since their reopening. we took 2 of our friends for dinner last night and I ordered a Mai Tai while we waited for them in the bar. We had a table by the window we ordered appetizers I was happily drinking my Mai Tai, when I looked in my glass and there was a huge fly floating around in my drink. Major turn off I felt sick to my stomach . Told our serve she kind of giggled took my drink back I told her I didn't want another Mai Tai. The bartender should have come over. We had our dinner. 2 desserts , glass of wine they comped. I am not sure i will return I have a mental picture of the fly floating around. The server was very nice. P.S. Happy Flyday read more

So excited that Duke's has finally opened! We stopped by yesterday around 2 PM and had about a 45 minute wait, but it honestly went by quickly thanks to the comfortable waiting area near the bar. It's a great spot to relax while you wait for your table. I ordered the fish tacos and they were absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Our server, Stevie, was wonderful. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and checked in on us often to make sure everything was perfect. Of course, we couldn't leave without ordering the famous Hula Pie! Since we were celebrating my daughter's birthday, we asked for a candle and the staff kindly made it feel extra special. Overall, we had such a great experience from the food to the service and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back soon. read more

After glancing at the menu, I ordered the Chicken and Ribs lunch, subbing the Jasmine rice for double mac salad ($23). Adam was a great server and said he orders this after every shift, so seemed like a good endorsement! Food came out in about 12 minutes. Speedy! Ribs were amazing, falling off the bone. Chicken was just ok; a little salty and a little dry, but maybe that makes the ribs taste better? Mac salad did not disappoint. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. We stopped in mid afternoon for lunch and Duke's wasn't too busy. We were seated within minutes and greeted by Dylan. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient. We started off with a glass of wine and enjoyed the ocean view. There is outside seating available, but it was a breezy, gloomy day so we opted for inside. Seating is plenty and the booth was comfortable. We ordered fish tacos and fish and chips. Both were terrific and arrived fairly quickly. The sweet tooth that we both have was craving the key lime pie, so we ordered it and it was excellent! Parking is by valet only unless you can find highway parking on busy PCH, although not recommended. Valet was quick and was 12.00. If you're looking for a great place with a beautiful ocean view and Hawaiian vibes, this is your place! Enjoy! read more

Dukes is a great celebration place! Beautiful inside and the outside tables beyond the bar are amazing! We always see dolphins jumping, and after sunset you've can see all the way down to the carnival of lights at the Santa Monica pier! The mai tai is good and comes in fun glassware with fruit and an umbrella of course! There is a kids menu, a regular menu and bar menu so make sure to get bar menu as well! The poke tacos are tiny but really good, not too spicy even through there is chili and wasabi aioli. The Mac nut crusted fish is always a good bet! Don't forget the hula pie! read more

Review- Just for the bar: Drinks and Dessert..... We are a regular at this location- despite this place being a tourist attraction. And despite this place being a bit pricey. But what can we say....its has tropical ocean vibes....and its right on the ocean, so we find ourselves stopping in quite often for a drink or two. Unfortunately, the frequent happy hours are now almost extinct here too- they have some specials throughout the week, like Taco Tuesday but not the same as the past with their happy hours! We have found that during the week, off times, you tend to mingle more with locals than tourist which is great to sit back with the locals at the bar and shoot the breeze. As we already ate, we just popped in for drink and desert. I had a glass of local wine from Santa Barbara that was on special for $12. And a Mai Tai that was $17- a little steep. Plus we had Hula Pie- which is always a treat and meant to be shared- super big but worth all of the calories. As always, at the bar, we had great service!
