My family went here on a Saturday night for our Mother's Day dinner, and it is a meal that I will be thinking about for a LONG time. We had a reservation for 7:30. There was a little confusion about where to check in since people were ordering dessert from what we thought was the host stand. Turns out you can order dessert to go from the host. The host was very kind about helping us get in the right spot to check in. Once we checked in, they asked if we wanted inside or outside. We opted to eat inside since it was foggy and a little chilly. They do have heaters, and the outside is adorable, so I def want to come back and sit outside. Once we were seated, our server greeted us promptly. I didn't catch his name, but he was great throughout the whole meal. He had been there about 11 years, so he had the right recommendations and answers to our questions about things like when the building was built. He also asked clarifying questions to make sure he got us what we wanted. We started with drinks. I ordered Diet Coke and was offered a local diet cola. They are farm to table, so I thought this was charming. The flavor of it was really good. It tasted just like Diet Coke, but it didn't burn the throat quite the same. My little brother got their mint lemonade and it was super refreshing. For starters, we did the ceviche and Malibu nachos. Both were amazing. Some of the best ceviche I've had. It had honeydew melon in it which gave it a sweet but light flavor. It came with taro chips that I loved. It is a little spicy but totally bearable. The nachos were amazing. They had crème fraiche on them that was soooo creamy and yummy. I would call both of these must try items!! For dinner, we got the hanger steak, lobster roll, lobster mac and cheese, the sea bass, and the poblano risotto. I can't pick a favorite because they were all amazing. The chef clearly puts a lot of care into the way he is mixing the flavors. Everything is cooked perfectly. My stepdad was the one who got the sea bass. He said it was the best fish he's ever had, and he can be hard to please. Each dish also incorporated veggies into it very creatively so it didn't feel veggie forward but was! For dessert, we got the grilled chocolate cake. The cake was perfect. It was delicious without being too rich. The vanilla ice cream went perfectly with it. They also had some of the yummiest strawberries I've ever had on it. Absolutely delicious. This was truly an incredible experience with some of the most amazing food I've ever had, and you're eating it right by the beach with ocean views. The decor is adorable. The building was built in 1938, so it is incredibly charming. I loved it so much and hope to be back as soon as possible!!

My friends and I were in Malibu, stopped by the beach and then got hungry and stumbled upon Malibu Farm Restaurant through Apple Maps. Parking was off-site; it is difficult to find free parking. We paid $23 for it. We waited in line for about 30 minutes as they were transferring from their lunch menu to dinner (we arrived at 2:40PM and were not seated until about 3:15PM when they transferred over). We did not mind the wait; we enjoyed the cali beach views and nice weather. We were given the food and drink menu to look at while we waited. Service was friendly and our waitress was attentive. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese, the hanger steak, and lime-cod ceviche. The lobster mac and cheese was delicious! They filled the dish with a good amount of lobster (there was more lobster than pasta- which I loved)! The hanger steak was made to perfection, you could taste all the juicy flavors. Same with the ceviche, the seafood tasted fresh and had seasonings that complimented it nicely. The ceviche was served with plantain chips which was a lovely touch. I loved the decor of the restaurant, it feels very homestyle and cozy. Prices are a bit pricey but you can definitely taste the quality ingredients. Would recommend!

Malibu Farm is the kind of place that just hits everything right. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind--rare to find service that feels this effortless and real. The food? Clean, fresh, and perfectly done. Healthy without sacrificing flavor--every bite tasted intentional and so satisfying. And then there's the view... oceanfront, peaceful, and absolutely stunning. It turns a simple meal into an experience. Perfect food, perfect energy, perfect setting.

Beautiful place for brunch at Malibu !! Line can get pretty long but moving relatively fast ! Service is fast and attentive. You can eat and enjoy the waterfront view.

Stopped by for smoothies post hike. There was a line, which we waited in to order to-go smoothies. It was unseasonably warm the day we visited, so combined with the bright sun, we huddled under the umbrellas rather the couches on the pier. Was the smoothie good? Yes. Would I pay $12 for it again? Probablyyyy not. Overall, seems like "the spot to be", given the stereotypical LA ambiance and view.

A beautiful beach view in a very coastal restaurant. We came as a walk in during sunset on a winter Saturday and were seated right away and near a window indoors. The menu has a little bit of everything in that new-American, very healthy, seafood forward way. Price is high, but seems expected for the area. Starting with the cocktails, I got the marcha one and it was delicious! Pretty matcha forward and the flavors were there. 21 mile crab cake - a very healthy version lol but the crab cake was a good size and tasted good! beefy 'bu nachos - our heartiest plate and it delivered. The flavor was the classic beefy nachos without the cheese. Sea Bass Poke Bowl - fish was fresh, I think could use a little more sauce? build your own fish tacos - a good portion of fish to fill 4 tacos. I like the fresh cabbage and the sauce accompanied here was good. grilled chocolate cake - was a unique twist to a classic chocolate cake! The 'grilled-ness' worked really well with the chocolate. Would always love more berries to accompany it!

Love Malibu Farm, it's the meaning of colorful-vibrant California food! Gorgeous view of the ocean, tasty foods, quick service and super friendly staff. It never disappoints! Highly recommended.

Delish brunch with a great view of the ocean. This location is on the pier. Parking is challenging given the location but you can definitely find a street spot if you don't mind walking. The iced lattes were delicious and great start to the meal. I loved the ABC tacos. The potatoes were super crispy as well. I also got to have a bite of the mini Swedish pancakes which were also tasty because they weren't too sweet.

I think this place probably is better for brunch or lunch, especially with a nice day time view. I went in for dinner and from the start it already seemed inefficient. The check-in counter is also the same counter where guests order take out? Kind of weird. But, my party and a few others were all waiting in the line to be seated to dine in while the party ahead of us stood there figuring out their to go order. Service from our waitress was minimal. We had to wave her down to order, to ask for sauce and also for the bill. I saw that she did attend to a few other tables to see if they're okay, but she didn't tend to mine and a couple other tables. Why? No clue. I ordered the Malibu nachos ($21) and added chicken (+$8). For that price I expected more chicken and was disappointed. I would not order the nachos again. One of my cousins ordered the sea bass poke ($26) and said it was quite small in comparison to other places that give larger portions for a lower price. My other cousin ordered a kale and Caesar salad (no protein) and it was also really small for $19 (I posted pics of the food so check them out). Overall, I think this place is really not worth it for the food. It's nice being on the ocean front. That's pretty much what you're paying for because the food is a miss. If I ever go back, it would be to try brunch since images from Yelp look more promising.

The inside is so charming especially in the evening with the lights. The farm to table food is fantastic! We shared the shaved Brussels sprout salad and the pesto risotto with English peas. Really memorable!

We had a great time here. We were seated pretty quickly due to our party size and our waiter was super attentive. We had an amazing view of the water which was fabulous. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and some oysters to start. The oysters were a bit small but they tasted amazing. I ended up getting the Chicken Broccoli Quesadilla and I didn't know what to expect at first but it really stepped up to the plate. It came with an excellent sauce and every bite was to die for. We had a great time by the water!!

Ask the Community - Malibu Farm Restaurant

    Did it survive?

    Yes

Is there a rental fee if I have a large party reservation of less than 30 and am seated in the main dining area with the "prefix meal"? Or will it just be the per person pricing?

Do they need reservations for weekend brunch?

You can make a reservation, or get there just before they open and be seated with no problem.

    Is there a dress code?

    No dress code

Do they have a kids menu?

Yes they do, I was there last night. It's a separate link on the online menu

Do they take walk ins for dinner if there are no reservations available?

Yes they do take walk ins , the restaurant is pretty big and they have been great at accommodating.

Do they have diabetic friendly menu items? If so what are they or what modifications do you suggest?

Do they require proof of vaccination?

No, they are in the City of Malibu, but could ask in the future...

Do they charge a corkage fee?

    $25

How much does the city of Malibu fine you if they find your dog here? I know the restaurant allows dogs but they specifically state that the city may fine you if they see. Does the city actually patrol the pier looking for violations?

Malibu Farms is generally great about being dog friendly. No complaints or issues every time I've gone, including two weeks ago.

Is there a valet parking for the restaurant?

No valet but it's $10 to park in the parking lot adjacent to it. Max $15.

    Where do we park?

There is parking lot at the pier where the restaurant is located for $15. Street parking is free however if you come on the weekend it's almost impossible to find street… Read more

Is the cafe at the end of the pier open on Labor Day?

Not sure. Best to call them. Just google the number. I would think it would be open, but good luck finding parking.

    Are dogs allowed?

While they don't turn us and our small dogs away technically you can get a hefty ticket since it's a state park being on the pier. If they are easily concealable you're probably ok.

What's good for dinner? I want to come on the evening and watch the sunset but do they sell lunch after noon?

I'm pretty sure they do The one at the end of the pier closes earlier than the one at the front

Hi! Is this place dog friendly?

We ate outside, so I assume dogs would be fine. It seems like everywhere is pretty dog friendly in Malibu!

Hi- is there access to the beach from the restaurant?

Yes! There is an area nearby that takes you down to the beach!

Do they still make the Halibut sandwich?!

I didn't see that on the menu :(

I wasn't even aware they closed at 1:00 PM, but regardless, closing the doors before the posted time is unacceptable. There were at least 3-4 other cars and multiple people standing outside, clearly hoping they would still be let in. People drive 10-20 minutes to come here, only to find the store closed early. I'm not local, but I've visited this location a few times when I've been in the area. The local customers standing there were visibly disappointed. This is a very effective way to lose customers. The real issue is not just the hours -- it's the lack of care. Closing at 12:57 and then, when questioned, telling customers it was already 1:00 PM feels dishonest and dismissive. The employee's name was something like Manuel Arbitara, as far as I can remember. I would encourage the owners to review the camera footage and properly train their staff on customer service and professionalism. A secondary issue is the store hours themselves. Closing at 1:00 PM on weekdays may make sense if your customer base starts their day early, but weekend mornings are different -- people tend to get out later. Closing that early on weekends seems out of touch with customer behavior. And finally, the lack of alternatives in the area may be part of the problem. Competition tends to improve service. A good coffee shop nearby might encourage a more customer-focused attitude. We need a Verve Coffee in the area to show how it's done.

Today, it was Pura Vida in Malibu, located in the same commercial plaza as Madhappy / Pantry, Frankies Bikinis, Be Kind Studios (pilates), and a soon-to-be Wally's. I really liked Pura Vida because of it's "health and wellness" angle. In re-reviewing the menus here, I noticed several items that were over 1,000 calories - not quite as health-conscious as I remember, but I knew it had to be just as delicious. Thankfully, I was right. I had the Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl which comes with a generous helping of avocado, cucumber, arugula, green onions / scallions, radish, spicy mayo, cilantro rice, and raw tuna. For about $35 with tax and tip, this was a rather hearty lunch that two people could easily share. I didn't mix it, as I prefer to eat ingredients separately, and received a soy ginger sauce on the side to complement the flavors. My friend opted for the Spicy Salmon Wrap, made with a specifically gluten-free wrap. That option comes with cooked salmon (which she found to be dry), edamame, carrots, avocado, and cilantro rice - as well as a side of fruit and the same soy ginger dressing/sauce I had. She wasn't wow'ed by the flavor, which may be because of the wrap, or the gluten-free nature of the preparation, or the salmon itself. The exterior patio seating is new, fun, and reminds me a bit of the La La Land coffee shop in Calabasas. Gorgeous place to have brunch or lunch outdoors and soak in some Malibu overcast. Service was efficient, personable, and polite. Plenty of staff to handle the crowd on a Saturday afternoon. Food came out quickly and tables were bussed in a timely manner. Free parking is available in the back lot, or else in the underground garage. There's also valet parking for $8 (all-day) toward the front.
