Had a great lunch with friends. The food was absolutely amazing. And beautiful to look at. The table service was fast and efficient but we arrived between the lunch and dinner service so they made us wait for 45 minutes. There were actually people standing in line to get in and they seated us in the cafe which was already open. Why did we wait only to be seated in a portion of the restaurant that was open? Lucky for us we snagged a table on the beach. That made it worth the wait. It was breathtaking. They also allow dogs which is a plus or I would have given them a lower score for the wait. read more

Malibu Farm is one of my favorite spots in California! Anytime we're back in LA, this is always on my list of places to eat. The food is great, and the view is even better. It's right on the beach, over the water, so you can take a walk or even go for a quick swim after your meal. It does get crowded, so I'd recommend getting there early. Food was overall good. Some dishes were better than others. The cod ceviche was really good and tasted fresh, but it does have a spicy kick to it, so it's not ideal for those with acid reflux issues. The sea bass entree had good flavors, but the fish was a bit overcooked and dry, while the salmon entree was moist and tender. Cocktail drinks were also refreshing. Even though the staff were very nice and cordial, the service can be a hit and miss. There were moments where the servers were attentive, and other moments where no one came around for a long time. Some orders came out fast while other dishes took a while to come out. The ambiance is always great. Sitting there eating while enjoying the ocean view with the pier is always lovely and relaxing. Giving it 3 stars because of the food. My friend got the salmon scramble and another friend just got the plain egg breakfast tacos. My friend's plain egg breakfast tacos tasted fishy. We were thinking maybe they just cook the same eggs on the same hot stove as the salmon eggs? The same friend with the salmon egg was about to eat her second piece of toast but she noticed there was a bunch of white fuzzies on it. We thought it was mold and notified the waiters. They took the toast back and told us it wasn't mold but the chefs put a white towel on top to cover the food to protect it. Still very gross and food safety hazard imo. We didn't get a picture of it because we were in shock and just wanted to go home. My burrito was good but could be seasoned a little more. The outdoor patio is nice. read more

Went on a Sunday as a walk in with no reservations (around 4:30pm) but there was no wait . Was able to be sat right away inside . We didn't mind because there was still a nice view . Ordered : - Cod ceviche 5/5 was very impressed with the flavor and freshness ! - poke bowl 3.5 / 5 it was ok. I've been trying to come here for lunch for a while (on the weekends haha), but the wait has been always so long that honestly I give up and go somewhere else! Finally, a friend and I came here on a Thursday for lunch at noon, and we were able to get seated without any waiting!! Even though it wasn't super busy at the time when we sat down, it still took awhile for the staff to come and take our order and later for the food to come out (maybe 25 mins?) -- it was OK because of the location and my friend and I were able to take some time to catch up and enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean! The food was honestly pricier most likely because of the real estate! Our food in total came out to about $95 (with tip); and we got the shrimp burger + "build your own tacos"! The shrimp was okay - tasted a bit plastic-y, and my friend said the tacos were surprisingly decent! Not sure if I would come here again for the food in particular because of the price and wait -- but definitely for the views! However you could always bring food and then come by the pier to enjoy it haha. Maybe I would give it another try if I was bringing someone here to visit from out of town to give them that "Malibu" experience but won't be a go-to spot for me! Regarding parking, we were able to find street parking on the PCH, but there are also paid options nearby (I think $15??)! Regarding the bathroom, my friend said that she was able to go, and it was clean, but by the time I wanted to use the restroom, there was such a long line with maybe 10 people that I just gave up and went to the Malibu country Mart, which was five minutes away driving. We came here for a birthday lunch and overall had a good experience. The location is beautiful, with a great view of the ocean, and the atmosphere is really nice. The only thing that didn't make a great first impression was that my friend wasn't allowed to be seated while waiting for the rest of us. We were looking for parking, which took about 25-30 minutes. Since it was her birthday, it would have been nice if they had let her wait at the table instead of standing outside. The food was good overall. We started with oysters, which were fresh and tasty, but much smaller than we expected. I had the shrimp burger. The shrimp and the sauce were a little too spicy for my taste, and the burger itself was quite dry. The small cabbage and carrot slaw underneath didn't really work with the shrimp and didn't add much flavor or moisture. I think replacing it with a fresh salad, or even serving a side salad instead, would make the whole dish much better. The rice was actually delicious, but the portion was very small. Great View, Fresh food, but wild prices! I went with my brother and cousin. We got nachos, the poke bowl, and a crab cake. All the ingredients were very fresh, felt homemade and made you feel good while eating. However these dishes are simple, easy to make at home if you have any cooking skill and are unreasonably priced in my opinion. I remember the nachos being $18+ or so and the other dishes being a bit more pricey. The views were great, but I don't think I see myself returning. This felt like you were paying for hype and for the scenic view. The service we got while there wasn't good as well and we had to flag down the server. Overall a good experience while in LA and I'm glad I tried it once while I was there, but I'll stick to cooking at home. read more

The place is great, one of a kind, but I just can not recommend going on busy days or weekends. We had lousy service, and those who were lucky enough to get theirs got partially less than mediocre food - with a bonus of mandatory 20% tip. Love this place. They have great food and the view over the beach is gorgeous. Stopped by a few minutes before they opened at 9am and there was already a line of 10 people in front. We were seated pretty quickly and service was great and pretty quick. I ordered the fried egg sandwich and a mint lemonade- both great! My son ordered a waffle and he liked it a lot, too. The mini pancakes were great as well. The restaurant is right at the front of the pier, right next to the beach. The weather was perfect, and it made for such a relaxing brunch. Now let's talk about the food. I ordered the fried egg sandwich with bacon, havarti cheese, and lemon aioli on country wheat toast. Unfortunately, it was so bland. It honestly seemed like the eggs weren't seasoned at all. No salt, no pepper, nothing. It came with a side of potatoes and arugula salad, and even the potatoes lacked seasoning. Malibu Farm Restaurant... why don't y'all season y'all food?! The drinks, though? They were it. I ordered the mocha latte, and it was absolutely delicious. Not overly sweet, just perfectly made. I also tried the immunity flight, which included their wellness, immunity, and detox shots. Exactly what I needed. A little tip: they don't take reservations for brunch, so it's first come, first served. We dined on a Sunday around 11:30 a.m. and were seated right away. The had to wait for the brunch patrons to wrap up and I believe prep the kitchen to prepare for the lunch/dinner menu. Roasted chicken was awesome and can feed two. Lobster mac and cheese is also solid. Big chunks of lobster in it. The chicken and broccoli quesadilla was good, but also different at the same time. Would probably skip that. The rice was bland. My family went here on a Saturday night for our Mother's Day dinner, and it is a meal that I will be thinking about for a LONG time. We had a reservation for 7:30. There was a little confusion about where to check in since people were ordering dessert from what we thought was the host stand. Turns out you can order dessert to go from the host. The host was very kind about helping us get in the right spot to check in. Once we checked in, they asked if we wanted inside or outside. We opted to eat inside since it was foggy and a little chilly. They do have heaters, and the outside is adorable, so I def want to come back and sit outside. Once we were seated, our server greeted us promptly. I didn't catch his name, but he was great throughout the whole meal. He had been there about 11 years, so he had the right recommendations and answers to our questions about things like when the building was built. He also asked clarifying questions to make sure he got us what we wanted. We started with drinks. I ordered Diet Coke and was offered a local diet cola. They are farm to table, so I thought this was charming. The flavor of it was really good. It tasted just like Diet Coke, but it didn't burn the throat quite the same. My little brother got their mint lemonade and it was super refreshing. For starters, we did the ceviche and Malibu nachos. Both were amazing. Some of the best ceviche I've had. It had honeydew melon in it which gave it a sweet but light flavor. It came with taro chips that I loved. It is a little spicy but totally bearable. The nachos were amazing. They had crème fraiche on them that was soooo creamy and yummy. I would call both of these must try items!! For dinner, we got the hanger steak, lobster roll, lobster mac and cheese, the sea bass, and the poblano risotto. I can't pick a favorite because they were all amazing. The chef clearly puts a lot of care into the way he is mixing the flavors. Everything is cooked perfectly. My stepdad was the one who got the sea bass. He said it was the best fish he's ever had, and he can be hard to please. Each dish also incorporated veggies into it very creatively so it didn't feel veggie forward but was! For dessert, we got the grilled chocolate cake. The cake was perfect. It was delicious without being too rich. The vanilla ice cream went perfectly with it. They also had some of the yummiest strawberries I've ever had on it. Absolutely delicious. This was truly an incredible experience with some of the most amazing food I've ever had, and you're eating it right by the beach with ocean views. The decor is adorable. The menu has a little bit of everything in that new-American, very healthy, seafood forward way. Price is high, but seems expected for the area. Pretty matcha forward and the flavors were there. 21 mile crab cake - a very healthy version lol but the crab cake was a good size and tasted good! beefy 'bu nachos - our heartiest plate and it delivered. The flavor was the classic beefy nachos without the cheese. Sea Bass Poke Bowl - fish was fresh, I think could use a little more sauce? build your own fish tacos - a good portion of fish to fill 4 tacos. It was unseasonably warm the day we visited, so combined with the bright sun, we huddled under the umbrellas rather the couches on the pier. Was the smoothie good? Yes. Would I pay $12 for it again? I think this place probably is better for brunch or lunch, especially with a nice day time view. I went in for dinner and from the start it already seemed inefficient. The check-in counter is also the same counter where guests order take out? Kind of weird. But, my party and a few others were all waiting in the line to be seated to dine in while the party ahead of us stood there figuring out their to go order. Service from our waitress was minimal. We had to wave her down to order, to ask for sauce and also for the bill. I saw that she did attend to a few other tables to see if they're okay, but she didn't tend to mine and a couple other tables. Why? No clue. I ordered the Malibu nachos ($21) and added chicken (+$8). For that price I expected more chicken and was disappointed. I would not order the nachos again. One of my cousins ordered the sea bass poke ($26) and said it was quite small in comparison to other places that give larger portions for a lower price. My other cousin ordered a kale and Caesar salad (no protein) and it was also really small for $19 (I posted pics of the food so check them out). Overall, I think this place is really not worth it for the food. It's nice being on the ocean front. That's pretty much what you're paying for because the food is a miss. If I ever go back, it would be to try brunch since images from Yelp look more promising. read more

Came here after visiting the Getty Villa and I loved it! They sat me outside right away and my table had a great view of the pier and coastline. The host and servers were all friendly and very quickly got the order out. I got the squash LA ash flatbread and really enjoyed it. It was cooked perfectly and the vegetables and agave were really tasty. Given the location, I think it is pretty fairly priced. Sadly, they were out of both vegan desserts (I was excited for the cheesecake), but I figure it is just due to a lot of vegan customers and limited options. Had such a great meal at Malibu Farm! The food here is just so vibrant--it honestly looks as good as it tastes. We started with a green smoothie that was actually light and refreshing, not that heavy, swampy texture you sometimes get. For the main event, the Green Eggs & Ham were delicious. The eggs were scrambled with plenty of spinach, and the side salad was a nice touch to keep it feeling healthy. The salmon salad was probably the highlight for me--it was packed with this beautiful rainbow kale and the salmon was cooked perfectly. We also had a grilled chicken bowl that came with a big piece of corn on the cob, which was super tasty. A quick tip on seating: The servers were all really sweet and attentive, which we appreciated! We did end up being seated right in the center of the restaurant. While the interior is still really nice and breezy, it's definitely not quite as "prime" as the outdoor patio with the ocean views. If you can snag a spot outside, do it--but the food is amazing regardless of where you sit! I love Malibu Farm, and it's been a comforting go to spot for years. Don't be intimidated by the line, it's worth the wait! But keep in mind, if you're bringing your furry friends for a cool Malibu day like I did, the left side won't be an option. The restaurant's right side has a smaller outdoor area, but still offers great views. The last time we went was this past Sunday, and what a beautiful way to end the weekend! We had the chicken quesadillas and from the specials the mushroom farro- and oh my, it was delicious! So flavorful, comforting, and healthy. The chicken quesadillas might also be the best I've ever had. The sangria was fantastic too, really, really good. The grilled chocolate cake was not it for us, I wouldn't recommend that much. Malibu Farm has been a Los Angeles favorite, staple, and a MUST of mine from the very beginning! Let's get the obvious out of the way - yes, it is pricey. In my opinion, however, this is practically a give-in....considering it's literally located ON the Malibu Pier and has TOP TIER quality and freshness to the food that it offers. I've gone multiple times over the past decade - and every time, I've experienced excellent service. Unlike SO many popular LA restaurants, I never get that aura and vibe of "you should feel lucky to be here". Not to be THAT person....but it's true! So many similarly popular spots give off that sort of attitude. Malibu Farm, on the other hand, feels homey, cozy, and relaxing....in SPITE of being so in demand and being in such a prime location. Another thing...even if you don't have a reservation, they're usually able to accommodate you and offer you a table somewhere in their QUITE expansive space. Now - on to the food itself... It's SO fresh, delicious, and high quality. The food here has legitimately been some of my go-to and favorites in the area for as long as I can remember. When I have family and/or friends visiting, I always take them here - and they always love the food! A few of my favorites: Lobster Mac (so fresh AND cheesy!) Ceviche appetizer Regardless of what you get or when you come, I think you'll find a visit to Malibu Farm Restaurant well worth it after all is said and done. I highly recommend! read more
