Good evening, I am writing to share my disappointment regarding my experience at Duco's during your Thursday reverse happy hour. My friend and I arrived just before 9:00 p.m. and waited outside until happy hour officially began because I was excited to introduce him to your restaurant and, specifically, your pizza. He is not from the area, and I had spoken highly of your establishment. Unfortunately, our experience ended almost immediately after we sat at the bar. The bartender/server, RJ, greeted us with an unwelcoming attitude. I politely asked what the happy hour specials were for Thursday. Instead of answering my question, he silently pointed and repeatedly tapped the menu he had handed us. The menu listed specials for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday--but there was no Thursday happy hour listed. I was simply asking for clarification. Rather than providing a simple answer, RJ remained dismissive and passive-aggressive. There was no greeting, no hospitality, and no attempt to assist us. As a customer, I found his behavior unnecessarily rude and disrespectful, especially considering I had done nothing more than ask a reasonable question. The interaction made both of us so uncomfortable that I asked for his name and chose to leave without ordering any food or drinks. My friend never had the opportunity to try your restaurant because of the poor customer service we received within moments of sitting down. I wanted to make management aware of this experience because customer service is a critical part of any dining establishment. One negative interaction was enough to cost your restaurant not only our business that evening, but any future visits as well. It is unfortunate that what should have been an enjoyable experience ended before it even began due to the conduct of one employee. What a gem to try! From the moment we walked in to leaving with our bellies full and content, our time was well spent! We came in on a weekday, not only was there rockstar parking there was plenty of seating options. We were immediately greeted by the hostess, she was lovely and helped us with our order. I absolutely love this place!! it's the perfect stop for a bite after work... a great place to watch the game... or just to simply vibe and eat. I came in on a Saturday and there was a live DJ a super cool group of people and an amazing waitress. Joy was my server and she was so sweet and attentive. I will definitely be back to see her. It has that perfect balance of elevated but comfortable, making it just as good for a casual night out as it is for date night. I can hear with the anticipation on ordering the oxtail pizza. Sadly, they were sold out. Eventually, I hope to get back to try it out. Love the vibe of this place. Our server and host were phenomenal. They were very accommodating and overall welcoming into their establishment. There was a wait on the pizzas, but with the amount of people here on this night it was expected. We ordered the mushroom and Nashville hot chicken. The pizzas are thin crust fyi. I wasn't a big fan of the Nashville hot chicken. I would have preferred a little more heat to it, but also breaded chicken over the grilled chicken pieces. Dukos was our first stop after arriving in Nashville, and it was a great choice. We found it through a late night Google search since it was open later, and the photos highlighting the oxtail pizza and oysters immediately caught my attention. Parking was a bit tight. Once inside, we were welcomed by smooth R&B music and a fun, modern interior. The atmosphere felt hip and culture forward without turning into a party scene. We were seated in Joyous's section, and she was fantastic. She was kind, sweet, attentive, and made sure our table was well taken care of throughout the evening. To start, I ordered the lychee martini, which was delicious. I also tried the Honeydew cocktail made with Sir Davis, and it was very good as well. For food, we ordered the oysters Rockefeller and the 12 inch oxtail pizza. The oysters were a nice size, but they were very topping heavy. There was so much spinach and breadcrumbs that at times it was hard to tell if I was actually eating the oyster. The oxtail pizza, on the other hand, was pretty good and enjoyable overall. When asked for an update, I was told that they had to remake my pizza and it would be another 20 minutes. Dukos Pizza Bar is one of the newest pizza spots in Nashville and the latest addition to this area of Dickerson Pike. Tucked on the side, in the back of the plaza building that holds Makeshift, Cricket and a few other local spots, Dukos is a small spot with big vibes and even bigger taste! We came by on the first Friday night after opening as word on the street was the pizza here was legit, and those words spoke truth! Given its recent launch and this being our first visit, we had to sample a few things on the menu. We started with an order of cheese bread, and meatballs. Cheese bread was soft and fluffy, covered and stuffed with gooey cheese and sided with marinara. The meatballs, three to an order, were oversized meatballs served in a skillet with homemade sauce and topped with that same gooey cheese as the bread. Both apps were excellent and a great lead into the main dishes...the pizza! We went with two pies, the classic pepperoni with a hot honey twist, and the prosciutto arugula. The pizzas are 16", cooked from scratch and delicious. The pizzas are reminiscent of NY style pies, thin and crispy, but still foldable and sturdy enough to hold the toppings. Toppings are well placed and spread evenly, with just enough on each slice. The sauce is light, and the cheese is perfectly scattered. Crust to topping ratio is stellar. In addition to the pizza, they have a full bar. Menu has curated cocktails, as well as beer and wine. A few of us went with the house cocktails, and I went with a classic gin & tonic. All were tasty and a great pairing with the pizzas. Service was solid from entry to exit. Our server, Coco, was friendly, helpful and fun! The space is fairly small, featuring a good sized bar in the center of the room and the walls outfitted with booths and tables, and one random couch near the entry. They have an open kitchen in the back corner near the neon signs, which is a really great add to the overall vibe. Loved our trip in, but just a few things to note for the newly opened restaurant...turn the music down a tad and remove that couch. Overall, really enjoyed our experience.
