The food is pretty good in the portion size is good too. However the wait is long. For them to have the food already prepared and just dishing it into the containers the wait is too long. Been to this new Dulans location twice. Food is actually pretty good. It will definitely fill you up and some! Regretted not ever visiting the location before from it's previous owners. Overall, the people where friendly and considering that this area doesnt have full blown sit down family restaurants. Been on a soul food binge lately and was recommended to Dulan's. How hard is it to find a good soul food place in L.A.? Apparently harder than I thought. Yes, I drove about 40 minutes to get me some soul food and when I arrived at Dulan's, I was a bit excited. The wait time was appropriate, but the place is a bit tight. When you order food, you are allowed one choice of meat, (as in you can't get chicken and fish all in the same order) which was fine. Note: Upside to this, large portion if you have a large appetite, but if you want or are planning to share make sure you are craving the same thing. As in my 10 year old daughter doesn't like fish so I was stuck buying a large order of meatloaf she didn't finish. The food was good but I agree with a previous review a bit bland. You are also restricted to one drink and dessert choice or pay extra. I spent $70 dollars on three meals, I ate at my car because of the space and the service was poor. I was scolded by the cashier because I asked for hot sauce as I paid for my meals and she made it clear I had to ask during my food order. Let's just say the search continues! read more

i bragged about the food to my sister visiting from oklahoma so i took her there and the experience was HORRIBLE. fried chicken was old nasty kinda black (u could tell it had been sitting for a LONG time, we went at 1pm) almost burnt, corn muffins could not be picked up; they jus crumbled, the cabbage had no seasoning at all. we ate there tables were not clean and no salt r pepper on the tables, butter was SO HARD even if the muffin had been ok you couldnt spread butter, too hard; and no knife avail to spread butter.....smh this place USE TO BE the bomb read more

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. It is so hard to support black owned businesses when the customer service is far below average. I expressed to the workers that my oxtails tasted UNDONE, and they were tough to eat. The workers proceeded to argue with me & tell me that my oxtails were not tough. First things first, this is NOT how you handle business. If I am experiencing an issue with my food, they should have been trying to fix it, by remaking my order, or giving me something else instead... The manager was not understanding at all either. I ended up waiting an hour for my food, and I left with no food, only a refund. It is very unfortunate that I had to go through this experience. I have been eating at Dulan's for 17 years, ever since they opened. After today, I will NEVER return to any Dulan's locations. First time I experienced Dulan's was Christmas Eve 12/24/17 and it is my last time. It was the worst food ever!!! First off, they have set meals that include rice/gravy or dressing... in which I did not want either. Next the food was distasteful and just plain nasty.. I serve my dog better. There is no rating that can compliment the food.. my husband said it's really sad to have such disgusting food. Dulan's gets a thumbs down for the worst food eatery in Los Angeles. SoI used to live in Inglewood always treating my family to the Inglewood location NEVER having bad experience maybe the occasional wait but that never was a concern because it's worth the wait. So 5 months ago We relocated to the West Athens area and do not have access to some of our normal eateries , so we were really happy to see Dulans had moved its Century location still on Century but closer to us. I went about a month ago and much to my displeasure after standing in line for 45 minutes she gets to me and very rudely says we are out of mac&cheese and yams .... ugh aren't you a soul food restarting ... ok just walked. So tonight I give them a second chance and the only fried chicken that has which was only 5 pieces looked like it had been in there all day and mention that because I ORDERED a Family meal which comes with 8 pieces and then continued to say and it's a 30 minute wait. So I then just went back Inglewood a got great service as usual. I will never go to Century and they need to shut it down if whatever family member running it can't get it RIGHT‼‼‼ read more

The food is excellent! I got the oxtails,rice, mac n cheese,dressing,yams. Mac n cheese is bomb,oxtails are cooked to perfection and the dressing with cranberry sauce is delicious. Dulans has been my favorite soul place until now, last Sunday I went to the Dulans on Manchester and Labrea and they effed up my entire order. So this Sunday I decided to come to the Century Dulans and they forgot my gravy and rice, like all Dulans just be effing up! I called my order in too that's the frustrating part, I got the fried chicken which was hella nasty I didn't even eat it, greens was undercooked taste like they were cooked for two hours instead of 4-6 like it's suppose to be cooked. Yams are always delicious, cornbread was cooked well, macaroni wayyy undercooked. Why does Macaroni have to be so soupy like it's loaded with boxes of Velvetta juice. The noodles were so mushy taste like 99 cent store bought noodles that were over cooked and mushy then added cheap cheese just making a whole lotta macaroni mush! I go to the Dulan's on Century near Western. The food is delicious, hot and always fully loaded in the take out carton. The staff's polite and they try to keep the line moving. This location was recommended over the other 2 locations by a friend, but I wish I'd read the reviews before catering my Xmas dinner from here. The worst time to be disappointed is at Xmas with all your family waiting for a great meal. We decided to cater the sides and prepare our own meat. We ordered collard greens, dressing, black eyed peas, peach cobbler and 1 sweet potato pie. The greens were too salty and had too many stems (they were probably from a bag - not fresh), the dressing was a "mush" of which I've never seen the color nor had the taste of as dressing in all my life, the peas were decent (hence the 2 stars). The peach cobbler wasn't sweet at all and seemed to have no sugar. The only thing good was the sweet potato pie. You know food is bad when your family (who brings their own Tupperware to family events) bypass the food. I asked my friend who recommended this place why she recommended it and she said "Well they give you a lot of food." Well, a lot of bad food is not worth the $271 I paid to be extremely disappointed and to have to trash after my guests left. Ok went here this Sunday and had to pay 20 dollars for chicken dinner plate. 23 dollars for other because, it was short ribs. With the meal you get a piece of cake or a small ass peach cobbler or a banana pudding.So I asked the young man for a piece of cake and he told me that those where sold already and he give me this small ass peach cobbler that I didn't want. I want to cancel my order but it was for my hubby lunch for work.A time before that some man was passing out pay checks while the employee was serving people!!!! I don't know what happened but maybe there was a change in chefs but my last trip to Dulan's (and it will be my last at least to this location) was horrible. The greens were full of stems and not well seasoned way too much sugar, the black eyed peas were watery with no flavor no seasoning. Macaroni and cheese was not like it used to be . Everything else was lackluster. They had the nerve to charge over $20 for a short rib take out plate that was horrible. I was totally disappointed. Terrible customer service. Today was my third and final visit, at least to this location. My last two visits I received unsatisfactory customer service. The cost of their food is high, but the taste of it makes it worth it. I thought I'd give them another shot today, but it was only confirmation that I'm done supporting a business whose workers don't put customers first. Each time I've paid $24 for a personal meal, yet the workers lack customer appreciation. Today I purchased a small peach cobbler, before I ordered it, I asked the server if there was more peach cobbler because I saw two trays of what WAS peach cobbler stacked on top of each other. The worker said they had more so I asked for some. His partner prepared it from the uncovered tray of what I perceived as trash. When I approached the cashier to pay for my food, I asked if I could get a newer serving because the bottom half was taken from an uncovered tray of what appeared to be trash. She replied feisty and confidently saying, "It wasn't trash, that's not what happened." She then approached the gentleman saying, "She said she wants new peach cobbler because that one wasn't covered." She could've just asked for him another peach cobbler, and she shouldn't have debated with me since I saw that it was uncovered from the moment I walked in. If it wasn't trash, then now I'm concerned about their food handling practices, why was it uncovered and placed on top of another used but empty peach cobbler tray. As a result, their service isn't worth my money and it's unfortunate that I can't patronize a local Black-owned business because their workers lack customer service and respect. My grandma likes their food so we stopped by to surprise her with takeout lunch. Last time we went to the location in inglewood so this was our first time here. This location is in the hood so keep your wits about you. This location seemed a little of an older establishment compared to Inglewood and the entrance is from the parking lot which wasn't all that clear upon arrival. Arrived at noon and was a little busy but expected. I was greeted right away and she took my order very expeditiously but this guy who was helping her with our orders moved soooooo slow and did my ultimate food insult, he scraped the sides of the pans to fill our orders. When you do that at least hide it from the customer and then put out a new one. 4 dinners was $75, but you get a decent amount of food. They need a new recipe for corn bread and the greens are chopped up too much. The meats are decent but the baked chicken could be a little more moist..not much room to sit its meant for takeout. read more
