First time visiting this famous deli spot, near the dodger stadium. I loved the Photo Booth and the many seats available both downstairs and upstairs. Expect a long line, especially if there's a game that day. To be honest, it was very mediocre, I got a beef dip French dipped sandwich with the macaroni salad and it was bland & I didn't understand the hype over it. I rate it three stars because it's been around for over a century & I like that they've kept drink prices low ($1 for lemonade) and same uniforms.

I have had Philippe's original on my list for 7 years already lol We finally made our way out here to give them a try. The good: free parking and how fast they get through the big line. The bad: everything else Employees there but neither friendly or unfriendly. Inside could most definitely use a good scrub down. Food: got beef dip The sandwich was edible but not memorable. The meat had zero flavor and the dip tastes & looked like brown salt water. Very disappointed to be honest as I had such high expectations. Glad I got to check it off my list but most definitely won't be returning.

Absolute MUST. So much history at this location (literally over 100 years), the invention of the French dip sandwich, and so much to look at. Love the vintage phone booths that they have there (great for photo opportunities), the train room (lots of model trains, plans for the alleged SoCal to NorCal train route) and circus trains too for the clown enjoyers, as well as sports ball memorabilia and merchandise for purchase all around. They have street parking and their own parking lot so keep that in mind. We went right after a Dodgers game so it was quite fisted, but a member in our party was able to secure a table for us while we waited in line to order. Probably 30 people or so ahead of us, but we were able to order in around 15-20 minutes so it's a real testament to how super efficient their cashiers are. Especially since they get all the food ready for you then and there to bring back to your table on a tray. Huge kudos to staff. Crazy extensive menu ranging from breakfast foods, several forms of French dip sandwiches, various sides, daily specials, beer and wine, and other desserts. There's something for everyone here, I feel. We got the: 1) Potato and Macaroni Salad: -I'm a SUCKER for salads that aren't green salads and my boyfriend is too, so this was a must to order. Nice sour tangy taste (good mustard-y mayo flavor) and generous portion of both salads. Great side to our sandwiches. 2) French Dipped Sandwich: -It was my first visit here, so I just got their standard beef dip, single dip on a French roll, but you can be adventurous and really mix it up. My boyfriend got a lamb dip on rye, wet style, so the variations are truly unique from the standard. -As for my standard beef dip, super simple and delicious. Good ratio of semi thinly sliced beef in a French roll. The single dip added a good moist layer to the beef, stopping it from being dry and also soaked into the bread as well. Beef absorbed the au just nicely and you get a small cup to dip in as well to your heart's content. -And now the kicker, YOU GOTTA use their hot mustard. It's so good that they even sell bottles of it. Good strong kick, hits you right in the sinuses and I even teared up from adding too much, but it's so so good. I also got to try the cheesecake and tapioca pudding, which were standard but solid desserts that hit the spot after a deliciously savory and umami filled dinner. I love that they have unique items on the menu too, like the pickled pig's feet (that my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed and which was a huge generous portion that had to be taken to go), and pickled eggs and much more. I didn't want to order too much and get too full, so definitely next time, I'll order what I didn't get to try the first time!

Philippe's The Original is an LA staple. I love going here before a Dodger game. There's always a line out the door before a Dodger game. This places a huge. There is a lot of seating. The atmosphere is energetic. There are a lot of Dodgers fans. I love the quickness of the service. The women and men behind the counter are hustling, making the sandwiches, and keeping the line moving. I got the Beef Dip. I got it dipped in the aju sauce. I love adding the hot mustard that they have. Oh man, that is hot! It cleans your sinuses. They have a lot of choices on the menu, like different types of meat for the dips. Different types of potato and macaroni salad, pickled pickles, eggs, beets, and pig's feet. They also have a breakfast menu with items like pancake and French toast. A full breakfast menu. It's a 10 of 10. I truly recommend this place.

First time trying a french dip sandwich. I heard good things about it but I don't think I'm a fan of wet bread - no hate on their food but my personal preference. They have their own parking lot. You can order online, takeout, or in person. There's a vintage photobooth for $7. It was busy at noon on a Tuesday but the line moved fast. There's seating inside but they get taken quick. Service was good as well. I ordered the beef dip ($14.50) with single dip, no spicy mustard. Portion is pretty small for this price. It is just protein as it comes with no veggies or other toppings. The single dip was one slice of bread dipped in their broth which made it soggy. I did not enjoy that texture all that much. Roast beef slices were tender though.

This has been the original French dip to me for decades, since my dad brought us here as kids. It's a classic. The soft bun (single dip for me) and the layered beef and side of au jus doesn't get any better. Add the potato salad and a lemonade and it's a craveable meal that hits the spot every time. There's plenty of seating, parking is easy, and restrooms are clean. Wait times can sometimes be long (pre-Dodger game) but if you miss peak times, the line moves quickly. It's fun to check out their display cases, too, with dodger and railroad memorabilia.

    An Iconic LA Staple!!

This iconic place is always on its game! For more than 40 years I have been able to visit. The restaurant isn't fancy, but it is clean and quite nostalgic. Their French Dip and potato salad are always mind-blowing great. You have to order a side of pickles to complete a perfect lunch meal. Could be crowded at lunchtime, so I typically wait until 2:00 PM for easy parking and a far less crowded experience. A high recommendation here; especially for out of town guests!!

As an LA native, born and raised, I've never been here before. I usually hit up Chinatown for lunch when I'm in the area or sometimes, I'll get some taquitos over on Olvera Street, but I never had the chance to try this place until recently. You walk in and there is a zigzag line that you have to wait in before you get called up to this long counter. When you get up there, they allow you to have samples, if it's your first time, or if you want to try a little something for yourself. They're famous for their French Dip sandwich, whether you want it soaked once, twice or have it wet. They have other options of meat, such as lamb, turkey, ham or pastrami. They also have a pretty large breakfast menu and lots of tasty homemade desserts. I had the pastrami on rye with swiss cheese and mustard, and it was very hearty, and tasty. I grabbed some coleslaw and some potato salad, too, that were amazing! They definitely got their own brand going on. This is a local hot spot for people to have lunch at before they head up the street to Dodger Stadium. So, if you would like to eat there, I suggest you get there pretty early to avoid the lunch rush or the rush before the start of a baseball game. Go Dodgers!

Beef Sandwich was really good. Staff was ok - the guy that helped us was nice but the lady I asked about the desserts was not so friendly. Suffice it to say that we only got sandwiches - no dessert. Plenty of seating and their own parking lot. Would I go back? Sure, I'll give it another try.

A quick visit to Philippe The Original is like stepping into a piece of LA history!!! Classic dipped sandwiches, simple comfort food, and that old-school deli vibe that never goes out of style! Between the vintage phone booth, Dodgers pride, (heck yes!!!) and all the nostalgic touches, it's just a fun place to be! Definitely an LA fave...great food, great memories, and always worth the stop after a field trip! Best part... kiddo approved!!!!

Philippe specialized in beef French dip sandwiches. Overall, the number of reviews is what led me to try this establishment! I ordered what they were known for. Service was fast and efficient. The Beef French Dip was not bad at $14.50. The Hot Mustard definitely had a kick!

The smell of roast beef hit before we even fully got through the door, and that felt like a pretty good sign. We stopped at Philippe the Original for dinner before heading to the airport, which turned out to be exactly the right kind of meal for that in between part of the day when you want something filling without overthinking it. We ordered three beef French dips with Swiss, and the food really landed. The sandwiches were hot, satisfying, and just plain good, with tender beef and that classic dipped bread that had plenty of flavor without turning into a soggy mess. The Swiss worked well with the beef and gave each sandwich a little extra richness without taking over. Service was very friendly from the start, which made the whole stop feel easy. Nothing felt forced or rushed, and that mattered since we were trying to eat well and keep moving. It is the kind of place that knows what it is and delivers on it, which I always appreciate. Overall, this was a great pre-airport dinner and an easy five star visit for me. Sometimes you just want a place that serves exactly what you came for and does it well. My only tip is to come hungry and keep it simple, because the beef French dip with Swiss is hard to argue with.

This is a must whenever I'm in Los Angeles. It's like stepping back in time. Ordering from the counter that is staffed by uniformed and incredibly friendly people is the best. The ambiance has changed a bit since the last time I was there because the sawdust on the floor was removed but it's still a very cool place. The food continues to be great. Best beef dipped sandwich around. Their mustard adds a very tasty punch. If you're planning on trip to LA, enjoying a sandwich at this historic restaurant is a must.

My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.

I had many questions, and both he and his team addressed every single one with patience, care, and attention to detail. It's clear that Dave was born to host events! That level of guidance makes all the difference when you're nervours... that patience and guidance it's exactly what you want in a venue partner. Prank was an excellent choice for our event. The location is fantastic, the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the drinks and food were outstanding. Thank you so much. We will absolutely recommend Prank and keep it on our radar for future events in LA.

The open patio, the bar area and how it wraps around the corner where there is a smaller intimate section. The music was awesome, the bartender has a great pour and the people seemed to be really having a great time. As I look around I see there is an open upstairs area that looks down onto the first level. So cool right? I had a conversation with two regulars and they swear by the menu. Plans are made to come back and I must try the food when I do. Cheers!!

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

The owners and waiter were very welcoming, hospitable and kind. 100000/10!

It's located within Hauser & Wirth which I discovered is an art gallery. When you walk through the building and enter the restaurant, it's such a big open space and doesn't feel cramped at all. Such a nice ambiance with lovely greenery and decor. Perfect for celebrations or a nice date out! Great for photos too. Across the way from the restaurant, there's even an area with fresh herbs being grown and you can even see a bunch of chickens! So if you come with little ones, they'll be super entertained and will have a great time here. We ordered a whole bunch of food and split everything. Upon seeing so many reviews for the cornbread, we had to get that and wow wow wow it is so worth the hype. Unreal. We had to order 2 because it was that good. Smoked albacore dip, ocean trout tartare, and louisiane shrimp aguachile were all good. The cara cara salad was diviiiiiine, so unique, it's a salad of oranges but it had such a unique flavor and had a slight kick to it. It's one of a kind! Both the grilled yellowtail and hangar steak were delicious, the steak comes with two eggs. Both cooked to perfection. Got a side of grilled asparagus, this one had an interesting twist with seaweed. Tasty but other dishes shined more. We ordered so much food and everything had such a beautiful presentation and was really delicious! I would come back here again in a heartbeat. One of my fave restaurants in LA, by far. Service was great too!
