I had such a great experience at Dulce De Leche Cafecito! The food was absolutely delicious -- everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Of course, the dulce de leche treats were the highlight -- perfectly sweet and so satisfying. The service was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. This place is cute, the food was good, the drinks were fine, service was nice, so why do low a score? We ordered 3 coffee drinks (regular coffee, cold brew, and a latte), 3 food items, and a pastry. Nothing fancy or unusual. Bill was over $90!!! The food items were $15 and under each. So coffee, pastry, and tax was $45? Way too much. Cute but we'll never go back at those prices. UPDATE I appreciate your quick response and did as you instructed. Also we did see the prices on the menus while at your restaurant as shown above. I don't have the receipt so I looked up the prices on your website: Breakfast sandwich $14.99 Torta Ahogada $15.99 French Toast Bread Pudding $14.99 Pistachio Croissant $4.99 Pistachio Latte $5.50 Cold Brew $4.75 Drip Coffee (16oz) $3.99 Total $65.20 Tax 10.25% is $6.68 New total $71.88 Assumed credit card surcharge 3% is $2.16 New total $74.04 We did leave a tip and I don't remember how much we left but the at least 15% for counter service. So assume $9.78 for pretax amount. New total $83.82, with assumptions. Somehow the actual bill was over $90 with everything included. Maybe I'm missing something, an extra fee or tax. But that is still too high for three sandwiches, three coffee drinks, and a pastry. Like I said, the food and service were fine. Just not $90 worth. Not to be dramatic, but wow. One of our favorite spots to date. Arrived and was quickly greeted by Omar. Inside seating available but we chose outside. Outdoor seating is covered and very clean! Omar seemed to be working the front completely solo and he was doing an incredible job! Super friendly and knowledgeable. We asked a lot of questions and he gave GREAT recommendations. Started with an iced horchata latte and lavender hot latte. Both coffees couldn't have been made better. Probably the best that we have had since being in Chicago. Now the food... PERFECT! The presentation was beautiful. We had the La sabrosa crepes, which were light and fluffy. Sweet from the berries but not too sweet! Breakfast tamales were packed with flavor. Service is pretty quick, the wait was not that long at all. It is a very small indoor area for probably only about 6 people to sit down to eat comfortably with some outdoor seating. First time coming here and it won't be the last. Staff was super friendly and helpful with all vegetarian options (there are many-you will be well fed). We got Chilaquiles Verdes with avocado. We also got the breakfast burrito (with avocado). I'm usually not a breakfast burrito person but this one changed my minds - everything was superrrr fresh and flavorful. The food was super delisioso, I ordered veggie burrito with a cappuccino ..ohh boy it was to die for. The Staff were very friendly, they offered me water right away, knewing that outside was 100°. Cannot recommend this neighborhood coffee spot enough! It's so walkable from most of north center, you should definitely stop by on your next walk! They do have food but I've yet to try it. Just came for a regular coffee and found it to be much more! They have a full menu for breakfast/brunch with a plethora of different latte's. I got their Orange Honey Latte with Almond Milk which was a little sweeter than I like but it was delicious nonetheless! I also got their Alfajores which are Amazing! Not too sweet.. perfectly soft and flaky. So I bought 2 more to share with others. The cafe is quaint, welcoming, and they have outdoor seating which is perfect for a breezy, sunny day! We were visiting from during Pride weekend and needed a spot for breakfast and coffee. We found this place and it was AMAZING! We had a big group of 11 and they made space for us outside. It was an absolute DELIGHT to visit Dulce de Leche Cafecito. Omar and his son, Andy, were beyond welcoming and provided top-top service from the moment we opened the door. They were happy to accommodate our large 11-person group, and it was truly one of the most warm and cozy places to spend our time. Not only were the service and atmosphere impeccable, but the food was even better. With a plethora of dishes to choose from, every person in our party was blown away by the deliciousness of the food and its presentation. The dulce de leche crepe justifies the choice in naming the restaurant what it is. The best oat milk latte I've ever had! Cute little place, always smells like heavenly breakfast and pastries. Also ordered catering for a birthday party and Omar did not disappoint. My guests were so impressed with the BLT and Caprese paninis, fruit and pasta salads and churro cheesecake bites. I don't like to leave negative reviews for local small businesses and even though this happened several weeks ago I just can't hold it in any longer. I ordered two lox and bagel sandwiches to go and went to pick them up. When I arrived they had my order ready and the employee pushed the credit card machine towards me to pay. The two sandwiches were $14.99 each but the amount shown on the screen was much higher than it should have been so I looked at the screen closer and saw a $6.00 additional charge. Before paying with my card I asked the employee "what is the $6 for?", he completely ignored me and said nothing so I asked again, "what is the $6 charge for?", again, he completely ignored me so I asked the same question a third time. Again, he said absolutely nothing, he then grabbed the credit card machine and removed the $6. Then he pushed the machine backed to me and the screen asked me to choose a tip amount. After that debacle I of course chose zero tip. He took it upon himself to tip himself $6 without even saying anything to me. The sandwiches were very good but I will not go back to this place again. This place is such a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The coffee and food are both great, but what sets it apart is the service. They are so friendly! We've brought the kids in (1 and 4 - not sure about highchairs, we put the 1 year old on a chair/lap) and they were very accommodating and supportive. 5 stars, we come at least once a week!
