I got to be real with y'all if they hadn't messed up my order I would've given them a 4 star rating. Shall we???... I ordered a Gyrito (Burrito) with [Half Turmeric Rice and Half Spicy Rice, Avocado Hummus $2+, Falafel, Tzatziki, Red Hot Sauce, Garlic Alioli, Pickled Onion, Jalapeños, Chickpeas, Black Olives, Lettuce, Onion, Cucumber and Bell Peppers] from Gyro Republic in Sugarland @9:17pm for a total of $20.50 including service fee and tax. I received my meal at 10:03pm because the DoorDash driver picked up another order on the way to me (ANNOYING BTW) but not the worse part. I had my girlfriend go meet the driver and tip him in cash, although he didn't follow my instructions; to contact me upon arrival to meet in lobby. When she got down there he was trying to take a picture to leave the food at the front desk. Anyways, she comes upstairs with a bag that looked different than the bag that was taken upon pickup. Brushed it off, checked out the bag and food, everything seemed fine. Off initial looks the gyrito was HUUUGGGEEEE! I was so excited to dig in. I love Mediterranean food I've been hooked since moving to CA years back. I love to feed my girlfriend so I gave her the first bite, she's chewing it.. then, I go ahead and take my bite. BOOOM, it's really saucy (*IM A SAUCE GIRL *), the flavors are flavoring, like they should....then, I taste something that immediately had my radar go off and I spit everything out. ITS LAMB!!! I'm like this is meat. I go to check the rest of the gyrito; there's indeed meat throughout the entire burrito. I call the restaurant told them the issue and y'all....they had the nerve to tell me they ran out of falafel for the night and that's why LAMB was put into it. WTFFFFF???!!! Why not just add more chickpeas since that's what falafel is made of???? Make it make sense. The problem is my girlfriend and I started to feel queasy because we've been doing a fast and parasite cleanse so our intake of meat has been extremely LOW for the last month. So I was HOT! I've only ordered from here through Uber Eats. Tonight they had a bogo gyro burrito. Y'all! This stuff is so amazing. I got lettuce, mixed rice, some sauces and a scoop of hummus. The proportions are huge! And the flavors were so good. We got two huge burritos because of the bogo sale. So we had dinner tonight and saved half of the burritos for lunch tomorrow. That's a bargain. The way we had them prepared had a bit of spice. And I love that you can customize them how you want. They also have loaded fries! We got some baklava for dessert. Upon entering, the place looked trendy so I got a little nervous that my food wouldn't live up to expectations. They proved me wrong. I had a gyro and sampled a few sides. I'll start with the gyro. One of the things I dislike most is pre-packaged gyros meat that comes in a consistent rectangular shape. It means the restaurant gets it like that from the supplier. This isn't the case. You can see the rotisserie spinning -- they shave and char the gyro right then and there. In addition to making the food in house, they offer a wide variety of additions that you can add to the gyro. I went with onions and tzatziki -- and it his the spot. The pita is soft - a little "floury" and it just tastes great. The sides were good as well, but truth me told - the gyro is what made me like this place. As I mentioned, this place is new. The folks behind the counter are learning and getting into their groove. Yum, yum, yum. Build my own gyro with all the toppings I want? Don't mind if I do! This is a small little place located in the HEB complex at 99 and 59. There are a couple of tables inside - I think 5/6 tables in total. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by the staff, always a nice gesture. There are three base options: pita, rice, or salad. The rice and salad choices come in smalll or large. I ended up going with a small rice and it was the perfect amount of food for me. Their container has two compartments, rice is placed on one side and shredded lettuce on the other. Then you get to choose your lettuce toppings: onions, cucumbers, jalapenos, chick peas, olives, corn, tomatoes, and feta cheese (I may have missed one or two toppings). Next you choose your protein: chicken, gyro, or falafel. I chose the gyro which was well seasoned and juicy. I went with the mild orange sauce on the side so I could control how much sauce was added - a little goes a long way. Lots of add-on to be offered chick peas, onions, olives etc. Nice option to have. Ordered two small combo platters. Made by two different people. Portions were not even close to the same serving. I got 2/3rds of a tray just fo rice. The other tray was about 1/5th. Chicken a little dryer than expected for a prime time lunch order. Gyro was sort of cubed. Usually I found the gyro portion to be more ground like texture. The sauces are okay. The red sauce was missing a little heat in my opinion. The additional orange (aka red and white mixed) is a nice touch. Overall it's a good spot. Quick and easy. Worth coming to from time to time. Sadly to pics. Food is great, but servings are way too small. Sometimes you get a good amount of the meat/chicken other times it's basically just a rice bowl. Service is also meh, sometimes you get good people, other times you get people that don't wanna work there. Overall ambiance is good and feels inviting enough to dine in, I just really wish they'd do something about the portions of meat. Unpopular opinion, but I am not a fan of Halal Guys so I was excited to try Gyro Republic to see if it was any good. This place was pretty solid. I think other restaurants who do the same thing end up making their food super greasy, not this place! I didn't have to wait too long in line and I got the rice bowl with combo meat. I don't always love the gyro mix at restaurants, but I am glad I gave this one a try. The gyro mix was seasoned very well and I definitely liked it better than the chicken (tbh- I didn't care too much for the chicken). There were quite a few toppings you could choose: lettuce, peppers, jalapeños, corn, chickpeas, feta, etc. They also have three sauces you can add, creamy white sauce, Mild Orange sauce, red hot sauce. The service was OK but the food was not anything special. First I ordered a gyro expecting the meat to be cut from the rotisserie. I was given meat from a hot table which was sliced and diced. I asked if they sliced the gyro and the attendant stated this is how the gyro sandwich was made. I ordered the falafel and again was disappointed with the food. The only positive was the pita! I have been going to the Sugar Land location and LOVE it there. I went to this location on SW Freeway because i was closer to it and it was like night and day. The service was horrible. The workers obviously didn't want to be there. The gyro meat didn't taste as good as the one in Sugar land, and they gave you half the serving size. I will never return here. read more

The meat is seasoned super well and the topping choices are plentiful and delicious (and included--you pick what you'd like Chipotle style) -chickpeas olives pickles white sauce etc. We got a pita with the lamb beef gyro mix and one regular plate of the same over rice. Really tasty! The red sauce I got on the side and I found that it was just the right amount of kick. While they don't accept Apple Pay they DO accept payment and orders over phone and will bring your food (carefully wrapped in paper bags) to your car for curbside takeout. Bonus that it's located near a Chick Fil A so if you have less adventurous friends (or kids) you can head over there or within a 1/2 mile radius hit up at least another 10 restaurants.
