Super cute and a classic, iconic ride for Disneyland. It's a short ride, where you are assigned a number that corresponds with one of the Dumbo elephants. Each one with a different color scheme, super cute. If you just want photos, there's a stationary Dumbo for you to climb on for pictures. It's super magical looking at night and I love that it's also over the water and is sort of a fountain itself. Timothy Q. Mouse at the top and the surrounding cranes carrying the babies are cute too. Lots of neat details and it's quite impressive. You can pull the lever to go higher and lower during the ride. I'm a bit of a big girl so it definitely takes a bit longer than the other ones but we got there anyways. I've had walk-ons for this ride and the most I think it's worth waiting is 10-20 minutes maximum, but as you can see, the queue can get quite long. read more

Dumbo is a pretty basic carnival ride that's been given a touch of that special Disney magic. It's a classic Fantasyland staple for a reason, and I don't think any visit to the parks would be complete without a spin in the cute little flying elephants. The lines here can get very long, especially during the busier times of day. Go either first thing in the morning at rope drop or later in the evening for a shorter wait time. Kids are drawn to this ride because it's just super cute and colorful, and the idea of piloting your very own Dumbo is irresistible no matter your age. Each ride vehicle holds up to two adults but Pooh sized visitors may want to ask for their own Dumbo. There's a seat belt that you strap on yourself, and the Dumbos have an open door on the side so make sure you seat any kids towards the inside rather than the outside of the ride vehicle. I'm not a fan of heights, but the ride doesn't go very far up so I am able to ride it. I like that you can control how high or low your Dumbo flies (but at the end, all of the cars are sent to the top and the highest point, and you can't control that so be aware if you are super afraid of heights). The ride is so fun and basic, it just spins around in a circle while you make your Dumbo fly higher or lower and enjoy the views of Fantasyland and the castle in the background. This is a classic Disneyland attraction that is well worth your time. read more

My grandson and I had a wonderful time on the Dumbo ride, as he was totally in control of the flight height and so we shot up and dived down, testing his flying skills and making his day to be in the cockpit. I think he's seen the video movie, but this cinched the deal on his knowledge of Dumbo and the experience of flight. This is a children's version of the Astro Orbiter, or rather, the Astro Orbiter is a children's version of Dumbo. Did you know there are 16 flying elephants on the Dumbo ride? I learned this because my strong-willed toddler picked #16 while we were in line, and I spent the rest of our wait time hoping to goodness that we'd be able to snag his preferred elephant. I know I should prepare him for a world in which he can't get his way on every single thing, but boy does it suck (as we found out later that day) to wait in Disneyland lines only to ride some kiddie ride with a crying child. Luckily, #16 was the easiest one to nab, and our Leo B. had an excellent time going up and down on his flying elephant. The ride was also pleasant and relaxing for the four adults in his entourage (we could see auntie and uncle ahead of us in elephant #15). It was short for how long we had to wait, but I guess I wouldn't have traded a longer ride time for an even longer line. If you're visiting Disneyland with a toddler, Dumbo should definitely be on your list of attractions. I'm surprised the SJW's haven't tried to have the name of this ride changed. Simple ride, goes round and round, and a lever lets you adjust altitude. Line was long, ride was short, but I got some good photos from my vantage point, so all was not lost. I couldn't use Lightning Lane to bypass the line, so I had to mingle with the unwashed masses. Woohoo, I finally got to ride Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride! Yay, another childhood ride/dream fulfilled, heheh! Located in Fantasyland across from King Arthur Carrousel. The wait time wasn't too long (about 30 mins or less) and it's an easy and lighthearted, fun ride. Before hopping on, you're given an assigned numbered Dumbo to ride on. You get in, buckle your seatbelt and soon, you'll take off! There's a lever in front of you that can adjust and control the height of Dumbo flying up and down. You'll fly around for a couple of minutes. Dumbo can seat a maximum of three people, but my friend and I each rode our own Dumbo, hehe! A cute and wonderful ride worth riding! read more

Dumbo is one of the iconic Disney rides. At Disneyland, the ride currently sits in Fantasyland just past the carousel. I'm not sure when it was moved to this location, but this is a great place for it. The ride has had a few renovations to fix it up, with the last one occurring earlier this year. The cue area where you wait for your turn to tide has been changed to help accommodate the kiddos waiting for their turn to ride the flying elephant. The colors of the elephants are vibrant and beautiful. Each Dumbo has a feather in its trunk to help give him confidence to fly through the air. Wait your turn and then get your ticket to ride. Board your cute little elephant and get ready for your journey. Each Dumbo has a lever inside so the riders can select a low flying ride or a high flying ride. Of course I want to be way up high so I can see all over Fantasyland. I can see the different rides and all the happy people walking around. Close my eyes and I can feel the air flying through my hair. I can feel myself flying with the help of this magical elephant. This is such a fun and kid friendly ride. It's a great feeling to soar through the air. I highly recommend this ride to individuals of all ages. There is often a wait, but many good things come to those who wait. I've had the pleasure of riding Dumbo in Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disney. I can't wait to ride Dumbo at the other parks so I can check that off my bucket list!! read more

While in Disneyland with a toddler, Dumbo the Flying Elephant is just one of those rides that you need to do for the kiddo ya know? The line moves quickly, the kiddo picks the elephant he wants, you happily fly up and down in circular motion for a few minutes, & you get off with an elated child! The wait wasn't very long and the waiting area is covered so it wasn't that bad at all. You can fit 2 adults and 1 child in an elephant, but my husband rode with the kiddo while my sister in-law and I rode in the elephant in front of them so that I could take some photos of the first ride we took that morning. Once the ride starts, you use a joy stick to control going up and down as you spin around for about a 1 1/2 minutes. Simple. I just have to laugh and write this review because once we got going I'm pretty sure the worker running the ride was ready to kick me off 'cause I was waaaay to busy taking super cute photos of my kid enjoying the ride, while they were in the background scolding me to face forward. Apparently you can't turn around while the ride is in motion. Sorry! I was not paying attention, bless your hearts for being so patient. Lol. I was too distracted by my happy kiddo 'cause he was having a great time. Every single time we asked him if he had fun at Disneyland or even mentioned Disneyland he would say "fun the elephant airplane." This went on for months and months! He just turned 2 at the time and almost a year later, he still says the same thing when he sees the photos. What an iconic ride, keeping kids happy since it's inception. read more

Still, this is one of the most intense ones for a toddler while still being fun. My daughter mostly enjoyed it, but it might have been better to wait until she was a little older. This was my favorite ride growing up. I started coming to Disneyland as young as I could walk almost! This year they gave the ride a new look. People no longer have to wait under the sun anymore. There's a new covering with lights that look magical at night. Then you get assigned to a number at the front of the line. That number has to correspond to the elephant you get on. It's more systematic, but the ride is the same. You can use the switch to fly up or down. I know I'm getting old because I get dizzy on this ride if I try to get a good look at the view on the top of the ride. read more

I'm sure everyone has watched Dumbo before and when you are in Disneyland you can actually ride the flying elephant. The line looks long but actually goes pretty quickly and the ride is not that long but really fun! I love how you can control each Dumbo by moving this nob up or down. I like to be on the high side so we stayed up the whole time. The wind blowing your hair and just flying around and around is just plain fun. I would defiantly suggest riding this ride if you come to Disneyland. Seeing, then, the Dumbo ride, makes one feel as though he or she is returning home. It's a great feeling, returning home. But now, we return with our daughter. And it's a chance (for me, at least) to re-experience those cherished days of old, but now it's through her eyes. She sees the colorful Dumbos carouseling through the air, flying with ease above the heads of excited onlookers... And the fun begins again, for all. It's funny, isn't it? Dumbo is such a class attraction/ride that has been around since the park's opening day! This nostalgic attraction/ride is a must try as it is simple, but brings a lot of excitement and smooth fun. The elephants do go all the way up at the beginning, but if you are afraid of heights you have a knob inside that lowers or raised your elephant! Having this control can be fun, and you can jostle your elephant up and down the whole duration of the attraction/ride! Whose 2-year-old is screaming bloody murder because the Dumbo ride is over and "we HAVE to get off?!" Yep. That's my kid. Kiddos must sit towards the inside. There is a joystick that allows you to move your sweetly painted flying elephant up and down as you spin around. If it weren't for the long line and the lack of fast passes, I'd probably be the "Duchess of Dumbo the Flying Elephant," thanks to our 2-year-old. Look mom! Flying elephants! Anywhere else you would think your child was going crazy but at Disneyland you would have just gotten to one of the more iconic Fantasyland attractions. I would give the attraction a solid 4 stars but stand there one day and watch the kids that are riding. The looks on the faces of the children are what make this a 5 star ride. The nice thing is that of course you can take your littlest ones on the ride but many times those same little ones can go by themselves. Sometimes this marks one of the first rides that they have gone on alone. You see parents sitting outside the fence taking picture after picture after picture of their girl or boy. The elephants themselves are in amazing shape after all these years. Disney has really gone all out to keep them up and refurbish them...they look like they are brand new. I bet you if you stopped by and took flight that you could make Dumbo fly too. :0) read more

Located in the Disneyland park in Fantasyland is the aerial carousel-style ride, Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Guests climb aboard a "Dumbo" vehicle that is connected to a rotating hub with Timothy the Mouse up top in center. The guests are able to maneuver their "Dumbos" up or down with a joystick while rotating counterclockwise. No matter how slow (or busy) the park seems to be, there is always a line building up for this ride. People young and old have always seem to love this iconic character from their famous 1941 American animated feature, "Dumbo". I personally can do without getting aboard whenever visiting the park, but this is one of my daughter's favorite rides in Fantasyland along with Peter Pan's Flight even though she's still too small to reach the maneuvering joystick. She instead joyfully instructs me in which way to control Dumbo. Thankfully this ride doesn't make me feel light on my feet or dizzy during and after like some of their other rotational rides. read more

You get assigned a number when you reach the front of the line and it is essential that you find the corresponding elephant with the number you were assigned too. It is organized - allows for just the right amount of people to enter and ride each time. Once the ride starts you can use the switch to move the elephant up and down. On a cold day the breeze can make you shiver but the ride is so enjoyable! If you get dizzy easily I would not recommend riding as you are going in circles. The elephant can stay at a designated height if you chose not to move up and down but it is fun moving up and down honestly. read more

Part I (last year) Took our little guy on this ride, and he was fearless, when we went even higher using the lever. He wanted to control the lever! Little man is a trip (I know, I keep saying that, but just amazed, is all). Part II (this year) The wait was not long for this ride. Always need to use the lever to control going higher and lower, but that's what makes this ride a little bit more fun. Both times hubby filmed us on this ride. Everyone agrees that this is a classic ride. It's a trip going on it when you're a kid and then when you have one, you're sharing the experience; really talking about everything at Disneyland (the ones he can go on, anyway). read more
