Chicken and string beans in garlic sauce with hot and sour soup lunch special
    Mel T.

I've ordered for pick-up here numerous times since first trying this place out, and it's become my go-to in the neighborhood, because it's convenient. Maybe they switched chefs or recipes because I actually like the hot and sour soup now. Sometimes if I have a craving, I'll even just order a quart of it. I have since tried the general tso's chicken (nice and saucy, but there are only 3 tiny pieces of broccoli), beef chow fun (pretty decent noodles for a Chinese takeout place), and fried chicken wings (fried perfectly). So far, I don't think I've had anything that's been terrible. My go-to is still the chicken and garlic sauce, but now I feel more comfortable with trying other menu items. Tip - they have lunch specials on weekends too!

Yummy! Ordered for delivery and only took about a half hour - not long at all! Got the combo of the pork lo mein with white rice and an egg roll and loved it! Big portion so I'll get to eat the other half later. Workers were nice when placing my order.

Chicken & 81. Mixed Vegetables Garlic Sauce on side White rice Extra side of crunchy Fried Noodles

Delicious & Flavorful! As a picky eater, I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed what I ordered. I have tried several chinese take out restaurants in my local area to be disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered chicken & mixed vegetables with garlic sauce. Upon opening my bagged food, I noticed it packed very neatly. The food itself was very hot, delicious, and flavorful. This was my first time ordering from this restaurant; I can definitely see myself ordering from this place again.

Old, burnt, expired hot oil with rotten smell
    Blenda J.

Placed an order today. Please look at the attached picture. The hot oil was spoiled, old, and smelled like spoiled corn. Absolutely disgusting. Food quality was horrible. I must imagine they don't even clean their machines to have oil like that.

I didn't like the fried rice I was more like pork rice cooked in a rice cooker, more soggy than fried.

It is similar to Sichuan/Szechuan cuisine in ways, in that there is an emphasis on spicy foods, although the spice profiles differ. It is in the space formerly occupied by a different Chinese restaurant called Joyce (RIP - I loved and miss their short-lived foray into seafood boils). Although there are many great authentic (meaning regionally specialized) Chinese restaurants in Bergen County and northern NJ, including several Sichuan places, this is the only Hunan one I'm aware of (without venturing further south into NJ), and is certainly one of the nicest Chinese restaurants atmosphere-wise, with an elegant dining room. If you want to try the interesting and authentic dishes, of which there are plenty, order from the sections of the menu labeled with "Hunan" or "Home Style." The soups and cold appetizers are very traditional too. The house speciality is the Hunan steamed fish head with pickled chili - the platter is quite impressive and takes 20-30 min to prepare. You can add tofu (recommended) or noodles for an additional $5. We ordered this but since I'm not a fish head fan (and like my fish very simply dressed) - I think it was a type of carp - the appreciation for it was lost on me. It's topped with a heap of red chilis but is actually not as spicy as it looks. Personally I prefer the fish fillet dishes such as the fish with ginger, which has very tender filet slices. I loved the soup dumplings (large and soupy), shrimp with salted egg yolk (or any salted egg yolk dishes, which aren't easy to find), and enjoyed the tender sautéed beef dishes like beef with spring onion or the spicy green pepper with steak, with crunchy peppers that give a piquant refreshing kick. They have whole Peking duck (Beijing roast duck)! The menu only shows pricing for the whole duck but we asked for half and they obliged. To be honest it's not the best Peking duck I've had but the balance of crispy skin (that's yet not too fatty) to generously shaved lean duck meat was unimpeachable. And they use high-quality crepes that are superbly thin but do not tear. The lo mein is also pretty good - it's slightly smoky and is better than common. Parking tip: there are only a few spots in front but there is a parking lot in the back of the building with plenty of spaces. There are lots of exciting and exotic menu offerings and still many we'd like to try, so we'll be back repeatedly.
